The Red Shoes is a 74 minute collection of rare original soundtrack recordings from the classic films of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger (aka The Archers), made between 1941 and 1951.
These include 49th Parallel (1941), The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), A Canterbury Tale (1944), A Matter of Life and Death (1946), Black Narcissus (1947), The Red Shoes (1948), The Small Back Room (1949), Gone To Earth (1950) and Tales of Hoffman (1951).
As well as original soundtrack music composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Allan Gray and Brian Easdale, the album also features a number of associated recordings, including Sir John Gielgud's moving reading of An Airman's Letter To His Mother (1941) and the lively quickstep Commando Patrol from Colonel Blimp and A Canterbury Tale. There is also a superlative rendering of Bach's stirring Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, recorded by Albert Schweitzer in 1935 and also featured in A Canterbury Tale.
The CD booklet features detailed notes on the films and the accompanying scores, as well as biographies of Gray and Easdale. This digitally restored collection is a must for all with an interest in vintage film soundtracks and British light/orchestral music, as well as the dazzling vision of Michael Powell and his gifted (if undervalued) musical collaborators.

The ground-breaking score was composed by Elizabeth Parker at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and released on vinyl by the BBC in the same year. Parker joined the BBC and in 1978 after gaining a master's degree in composition and recording techniques at the University of East Anglia. She moved permanently to the Workshop's Maida Vale studios where she realised the music for well over 300 TV and radio programmes before her departure in 1996.

The music from the HBO® Series Game of Thrones Season 6 is once again composed by Ramin Djawadi. The collection begins with the well-known opening tunes of the series, followed by some house themes and the piano-led "Light of the Seven". Hanna is the soundtrack album to the 2011 British-German thriller film of the same name, directed by Joe Wright. The film stars Saoirse Ronan as the title character, a girl raised in the wilderness of northern Finland by her father, an ex-CIA operative (Eric Bana), who trains her as an assassin. Cate Blanchett is a senior CIA agent who tries to track down and eliminate the girl and her father.

The original score was composed by the British pioneers of big beat The Chemical Brothers, who had 6 number 1 albums and 13 top 20 singles in the UK. NME ranked the album at number 54 in their list of the 61 of the Greatest Film Soundtracks'.

The soundtrack of Hanna was nominated for multiple awards and eventually won an Alliance Of Women Film Journalists award in the category Best Film Music or Score' and a Los Angeles Film Critics Association award for Best Music'.

The complete 1873 steampunk classic novel of Captain Nemo and The Nautilus, here with a blue vinyl 12' of underwater music by Jonny Trunk, all beautifully housed in a gatefold sleeve with nautical illustrations by cult tattoo artist Liam Sparkes. Simply an awesome package, but a very limited for record shop release.

Two years ago the publishers Four Corners Books approached Jonny Trunk because they wanted to produce a book with an LP. They have an ongoing publishing project called The Familiars Series' which reproduces classic books with new interpretations. Jonny Trunk has always had an interest in underwater music (think Jacques Cousteau on the TV) and so Jonny's immediate choice was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, which would allow him to make his very own underwater music. Jonny also had the idea of tattoo / scrimshaw (sailor's art scratched I to whale teeth) for the artwork, and so the book designer, John Morgan, found the amazing Liam Sparkes to draw beautiful nautical illustrations for the front, back and inside of the gatefold sleeve. The resulting package is a beautiful thing, a large heavily illustrated gatefold sleeve with the complete Jules Verne novel as a stitched book, blue vinyl 12' LP and even a download code.

THE MUSIC
This is Jonny Trunk's third full length LP, and focuses on his love of underwater music. With the story in mind the music conjures up sounds of the deep, with slowly pulsing jellyfish, scattering shoals of jolly fish and of course an attack by a large angry Kraken. Anyone who has read the book may well remember that every so often on the Nautilus, Captain Nemo retires to his quarters and plays music on his salon pipe organ. So for this release every cue on the LP is punctuated with Nemo's playing. With tense walks along the sea beds in curious breathing apparatus to glorious string passages conjuring up slow endless drifts across calm waters, this is an intriguing, creative and most unusual musical work.

Few artists in the music profession are as unclassifiable as Nina Simone. During her long career she tackled material from a variety of styles, garnering an audience that included soul devotees, folk followers, R&B lovers and even jazz buffs. 1962's Nina Simone Sings Duke Ellington helped consolidate her reputation as a singer/musician to be contended with and represents the first of two albums she recorded devoted to the work of one supremely talented individual - the other being Billie Holiday.

Given the status of the Duke's tunes, often allied to definitive performances, the decision to include a smattering of lesser-known melodies was probably a wise one. "Do Nothin' Till You Hear from Me," "I Got It Bad And That Ain't Good," "Solitude" and "It Don't Mean A Thing" had long been favorites Ellington circles, but lesser lights like "The Gal From Joe's," "Merry Mending" and "You Better Know It," really allowed Nina the chance to put her own stamp on them. Given its dedication to the compositions of one man, Nina Simone Sings Duke Ellington may be viewed as a curio - but it is one never to be ignored.

Arranger, composer, bandleader and orchestrator Nelson Riddle's work for Capitol Records helped keep such vocalists as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Johnny Mathis, and Rosemary Clooney household names. He also composed a number of acclaimed film soundtracks from the mid-50s through the mid-80s including the original score to Stanley Kubrick's provocative 1962 black comedy Lolita. It features the catchy instrumental "Lolita Ya Ya" which later became a hit single for The Ventures while the main theme was composed by Bob Harris.

Regarded as one of the greatest Science Fiction films of all time, it also has a masterful score composed by Alan Silvestri that is triumphant, whimsical and adventurous. Never before released on Vinyl, Silvestri's score is incredibly iconic, and essential for soundtrack collectors. Continuing the tradition set by the original, the score for Back To The Future Part II is equally as exciting, and pulse-pounding as the sprawling timelines bring Silvestri's music to the future, past and everywhere in-between... A key and compelling component to Brady Corbet's directorial debut, it is Walker's first O.S.T. work since his remarkable score for Pola X in 1999.
Partly inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's short story of the same name, The Childhood Of A Leader is a tense psychological drama tracing the formative years of a young boy and set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference that led to the establishment of the Treaty of Versailles.
Walker continues to work with long-term collaborators Peter Walsh (co-producer) and Mark Warman (musical director), with the latter conducting an orchestra comprised of 46 string players and 16 brass for the studio recording. Both Walsh and Warman were involved in the live film score performance of The Childhood Of A Leader, alongside a 74-strong orchestra, an event which closed the Rotterdam Film Festival in February this year.

With their charming look of exploitation LPs, The Vampires' Sound Incorporation's Psychedelic Dance Party and it's 'brother' album Sexedelic's Sexedelic (also reissued on Wah Wah as LPS186) hide the joint works of German composers Manfred Hübler and Siegfried Schwab that were used on three classic 1970 b-movies directed by Spanish film maker Jess Franco:

Besides the film director and the soundtrack composers, these three films also shared the presence of Spanish actress Soledad Miranda.Original copies of these LPs could be found for next to nothing in European flea markets until the mid 1990s, when Lucertola Media compiled them both on the 3 Films By Jess Franco CD. The amazing sounds that mixtured jazz pianos, easy listening brass section, psychedelic fuzz guitar, pop harpsichord lines, exotic sitar, and funky bass & drum beats were rediscovered and given new life when a compilation LP featuring the grooviest tracks from both albums was an instant hit which ran high in the alternative music sales charts.

The legend grew when 'The Lions And The Cucumber,' opening track from The Vampires' Sound Incorporation's LP, was picked by Quentin Tarantino and given mainstream exposure on his third film Jackie Brown (1997), starring Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Robert de Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton. The 'Vampyros Lesbos sound' became a classic, awakening also new interest on the movies themselves which have been also issued on DVD since then. The music of Hübler and Schwab has also been sampled and revisited by many artists.

Since then, original copies of The Vampires' Sound Incorporation and Sexedelic LPs fetch small (and not so small!) fortunes in the collector's market. Now, for the first time, the original albums from which all these amazing tracks were taken from are reissued in its original complete tracklists and sleeve artwork. Owning these two LPs is the only way to have in vinyl format all the original material issued by Hübler and Schwab - all previous reissues omit tracks from the original LPs.

Here on vinyl for the first time, Grammy nominee Ramin Djawadi's score for Game of Thrones Series 3 is integral to the fabric of the show with choir and orchestra counter-balanced by percussion and rhythmically driven sounds from the world music arena.

His creative use of sound effects adds mystery and allure to this epic fantasy of political and sexual intrigue.

This third collection of music from the series offers fans three different versions of the Game Of Thrones theme - two of them previously unreleased.

"Dark Wings, Dark Words" is a downtempo choir version whilst "For The Realm" is a solo guitar version performed by Djawadi himself.

Additional music includes "It's Always Summer Under The Sea (Shireen's Song)" performed by Kerry Ingram who plays Shireen in the show along with "The Bear And The Maiden Fair" sung by US indie rock band The Hold Steady.

Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is proud to present the first ever vinyl release of Joe Renzetti's scores to Frank Henenlotter's Basket Case 2 and FrankenHooker. Basket Case 2 found Henelotter creating a sequel to his now classic 1982 gross-out, with the freak twins' Duane and Belial back out on the prowl, but also looking for love and acceptance. FrankenHooker is Henenlotter's riff on the classic Frankenstein story, with Jeffery Franken, memorably played by James Lorinz, resurrecting his dead love Elizabeth using pieces of the women who walk 42nd street.

Scoring duties on these two films were given to Oscar-winning composer Joe Renzetti, a familiar name to horror fans who know and love his scores to Child's Play and Dead & Buried. Instead of going for the obvious, campy approach, Renzetti plays it straight, letting his moody, sometimes unsettling music act as counterpoint to the absurd on screen happenings.

Featuring reversible cover art by Cleveland comic-book legend John G, extensive liner notes by Renzetti and a completely remastered score supervised by the composer, this is a release that is not to be missed by fans.

The eponymous stage musical My Fair Lady (1956) got a very successful film adaption in 1964 starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. Based on the original script by Frederic Loewe, the film won eight Oscars and three Golden Globes. Composed by Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music), the songs were performed by both the film cast and guest singers Marni Nixon & Bill Shirley and were supervised by German pianist, conductor and composer André Previn.

The story about Eliza Doolitte, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons so the she may pass as a lady, now gets an expanded Music On Vinyl At The Movies release.

First time on vinyl ever, released on 180g coloured vinyl "La Cugina" is the soundtrack of one of the most sought after Italian Sexy Comedies. Music composed, orchestrated and conducted by ENNIO MORRICONE. Jazzy and lush textures featuring Choir I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni, Oscar Valdambrini on flugelhorn, and Edda Dell'Orso on vocals.

Born in Oakland, CA, but raised in New Mexico, Partch learned mandolin, violin, piano, reed organ, and cornet as a child. Clearly a unique talent, even that early on, Partch went to USC Music School but was dissatisfied with his teachers, and instead studied music on his own where he learned to reject many of the Western constructs of music and began experimenting with using scales of unequal intervals in just intonation, and was one of the first Western composers of the 20th century to use microtonal scales. These recordings were some of the first made after Partch settled in Sausalito and founded his legendary Gate 5 studio. L.u.c.a. is Francesco De Bellis aka Francisco. Years ago he started putting together some selections for a friend of his: Luca. The intention was to pick songs to be played during car rides, and like any other kind of ritual, this too would come with strict rules. You'd have to go throw the whole selection of 100 tracks without skipping, because every single one was important. Be it the sounds, the arrangement or its creativity, each track was there for a very specific reasons. It quickly became a monthly event which for several years evolved in a deep musical research without genre boundaries: Disco and psychedelic, soundtracks, library music, exotica, electronic and dance music, italo, new wave, pop or prog. Tracks of each and any historical period and provenance had been featured in this special compilations. But it wasn't always that easy to come up with the right piece and eventually Francesco started producing a few on his own to fill in the gaps. After six tracks, it was quite clear that there was a project developing, one in which he could finally experiment freely, leaving behind the rules that often come with dance tracks. Of course, no name could have been better than the one of his friend that had inspired everything And so L.u.c.a was born. Now, while preserving the same mind set, L.u.c.a is back with an album that embraces a new-hippie vibe, strongly pervaded by a mystical naturalism. This is a whole new universe in the making, where rumbling magmatic atmospheres evolve gradually in a journey through an idealist new world, celestial interludes revealing a full take over of nature, with a pervasive library feel that dates back to the great Italian masters, carrying on Edizioni Mondo's legacy.

A film of this magnitude deserves a composer who understands creative artistry and unbridled passion. Japanese master and Oscar winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Last Emperor) fits the bill perfectly. Along with fellow Yellow Magic Orchestra member and frequent collaborator Alva Noto, Sakamoto has created a gripping soundtrack that is sure to be a treat for the winter crowds. Bryce Dessner (writer for Kronos Quartet and the LA Phil) also supplies additional music.
