YANGA brings a new dimension to the rapidly growing scene of Afro-Latin independent music taking shape in Los Angeles and concentrated in the fertile enclave known as the Inland Empire. Intertwined with other intrepid musical explorers who call the IE home, YANGA has sprouted their own distinct branch on the tree of Caribbean music and culture.
Much like their cousins and Names You Can Trust label mates of the same Southern California region (QUITAPENAS, EL SANTO GOLPE and BUYEPONGO), YANGA creates new recipes based on a traditionalbouillabaisseof Afro-Carib rhythm, sharing a few ingredients and musicians to develop a deeper chemistry and cohesiveness but cohering into their own piquant flavor.
YANGA's singular focus and strength is their inspiration from and adherence to the beloved rhythms found throughout the Caribbean coast of Colombia — rhythms like cumbia, garabato, tambora and zambapalo. These rhythms form a touchstone and a proud statement of purpose for their debut on Names You Can Trust.
Led by John D'Alessandro's accordion and the fiery female voice of Eddika Organista (El Haru Kuroi), this new recording is an intense ode to the band's fundamental influences, conceptually crystallized in the studio of Chicano Batman bassist Eduardo Arenas with veteran Marcos Garcia (Antibalas, Chico Mann, Here Lies Man) crafting the mix. It's a realized and impeccably executed scene of dark, gritty and saturated drums and bass, the entire sonic landscape dosed with subtle psychedelia and studio wizardry that never overshadows the band's natural performance or their reverence for the classic sounds of the tropical '70s. The finished product is a perfect juxtaposition between vintage and modern. This special edition, double-issue single packed with deep dancefloor grooves are a sure-shot entry into the timeless canon of Afro-Caribbean recordings.

Firts time ever repress from this 1977 MPB / Brazilian soul album !
One of the most important background figures of Brazilian Soul in the 70's and 80´s arranger/producer/composer/instrumentalist Robson Jorge, together with his partner Lincoln Olivetti defined the sound of the genre.
While Olivetti took most of the fame, Robson Jorge was perhaps the mastermind of the duo, having doubtlessly influenced Tim Maia, but being obscured by his own problems with alcohol (which would finally conduce to his precocious demise). The rare Robson Jorge LP 1977 is a testimony of his genius.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, he started out in music playing the acoustic guitar that belonged to his brother at age 11. Before turning 15, he was already playing at balls and even recording sessions. By the mid-70s played keyboards on Tim Maia's band (Seroma). Later on that decade, met with keyboardist/arranger Lincoln Olivetti, establishing a solid partnership and making songs recorded by countless artists. Robson and Lincoln were in charge of writing the arrangements for most of the big MPB stars in the 80s, which granted them fame, money and hard critic reviews that accused them of turning MPB into lame pop. Robson Jorge died alone and forgotten in 1992.

A - 45 rpm - 'Afterclapp - Capitão de Area'
Based on a novel 'Capitães da Areia' by Brazilian author Jorge Amado, Captião de Areia captures the
nostalgic Bahian vibe of the original 'twisted tale' of youth vagabonds living on the streets and beaches of
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
B - 45 rpm - 'Afterclapp - Beiramar'
Even more dreamy than the A side, Beiramar, is classic Brazilian trip hop experience and takes us back to the
good old days when Ninja tune, Mo wax, and Wall of Sound ruled the genre.
Heavily influenced by hip hop, jazz and bass music, Rodrigo Vellutini's solo project, Afterclapp combines samples and
edits with electronic sounds and live instrumentation. This ep, features Brazilian music from the North and South of
Brazil. Afterclapp is from Florianopolis Brazil. This classic MSLX artwork was created by Shuggie.

The Chakachas are best remembered for their hit disco single 'Jungle Fever'. The album by the same name is a revelation of Latin funk, with horns playing against groovy rhythms and some fine vocal work. Exiting in every aspect it's a real tasty and nasty combination of sounds. The album is characterized by its versatile percussion, consisting of maracas, congas and drums, and funky guitar riffs and horns. There's a beautiful version of Earle Hagen's classic standard 'Harlem Nocturne', known for its groovy bassline and guitar breaks. Jungle Fever is a classic which should be included in every collection of funk and Latin music.
The Belgian based group of The Chakachas were a Latin soul studio musicians. They're also known as Les Chakachas or Los Chakachas. They started in the late 1950s, recording a playful mixture of Latin music, jazz, and European-style exotica.

- All CD & Vinyl pre-orders will be signed by the whole band
- The Vinyl features a signed, die cut, limited edition sleeve
The first Vinyl run will be limited edition premium quality 180gm, manufactured in Germany. The Stolen Diamonds artwork has been supremely adapted for vinyl, with all of the original album tracks across 2 records (4 sides). All shrink wrapped and packaged very carefully so that it arrives pristine to your door.
Stolen Diamonds is the seventh studio album from The Cat Empire. The band chose to record for the third time with friend and Producer Jan Skubiszewski, this time at Red Moon Studios in Gisbourne, in the country side outside of Melbourne.
Felix says this about the album:
'The band wanted to create an album full of songs that would translate directly onto an international festival stage. That's really been the broad ambition of each album since Steal the Light. You could say that Steal the Light, Rising with the Sun, and Stolen Diamonds work as a trilogy - all produced with Jan, and all an integral part of our live sets around the world.
In terms of the production we weren't afraid to add layers and experiment with sounds outside our usual collection. But we also kept coming back to the simplicity of the melodies and the song's direct impact."

The Brazilian born master guitarist Bola Sete (literally translated to 'Seven Ball' and a snooker reference) originally studied music at the Conservatory of Rio while playing in his own jazz sextet and small samba combos. Sete spent time in Italy and also absorbed jazz influences as he was a avid fan of Charlie Christian and Django Reinhardt. It was these influences, along with the local samba and bossa nova flavor he was absorbing on a daily basis in Brazil that form the foundation of his sound. This record, his debut album from 1957, combines those influences beautifully in a perfect jazz samba setting, a fully formed artist who had been a professional musician for years before releasing this album. Sete counted among his admirers and fans such disparate legends as Dizzy Gillespie and John Fahey, and one listen to this masterful debut will tell you why. An absolute essential on 180 gram vinyl.

The first commercial vinyl edition of this classic of modern African music, from Burkinab musician and singer-songwriter Victor Deme. The album is a unique mosaic of folk blues melodies, intimate Mandingo ballads, and Latin
influences, salsa and flamenco. This reissue celebrates the album's 10th anniversary, which was a huge success in France (Gold disc, with 100,000 copies sold) and voted Album of the Year in 2008 by France Inter listeners (the No. 1 French public radio station).
After a 30-year career in Burkina Faso, Deme finally released his first album aged 46. In 2007, with the help of journalist David Commeillas and of Soundicate's activists, they founded the label Chapa Blues Records to promote Victor's
music. The singer started to work on his album in the small studio at the back of his artist residence in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. The studio is no more than two rooms separated by a truck windshield and equipped with
a 16- track console, but it has become the rallying point of numerous talented artists. 'His voice is warm and slightly husky and his songs are splendidly lyrical and supported by excellent guitar playing.' - Songlines (The Best Albums of 2008)

'Buena Vista Social Club' is both the name given to this extraordinary pool of musicians and the album,
recorded in just six days in Havana's 1950s vintage EGREM studios. It was clear from the atmosphere
of the recording sessions that something very special was taking place. However, no one could have
predicted that Buena Vista Social Club would become a worldwide phenomenon, outselling any other
record in the same genre, elevatng the artsts to superstar status and popularising Cuba's rich musical
heritage, all of which has contributed to a massive boom in Cuba's tourist and recording industries.
'Buena Vista Social Club' was released in June 1997 and has since come to be regarded as a classic,
selling 7 million copies worldwide.

This rather mysterious Jazz recording, which dates back to 1971, was quickly put together in a studio session sandwiched between RAI orchestra rehearsals, film soundtrack recordings and various other projects that make up this incredible musical library, all recorded in that period by our best musicians. The unique particulars of this record are that the musicians are not named, except for a mythical 'Plakoti' but also the rights and the tapes seemed tohave strangely disappeared. After a period of accurate research, thanks to Maurizio Majorana (bass player for the Marc 4) we have been able to find the original recordings and also the musicians that played on it. Even though this recording was accredited to the Marc 4, by semi-official sources of the time, strangely enough only two of them are effectively present on this record Antonello Vannucchi on the Hammond Organ, Vibraphone and Piano and Roberto Podio on the Drums. The other two musicians are Giovanni Tommaso playing his mythical 'Pedrazzini' (ndr) double bass who already played together with Vannucchi as part of the famous 'Lucca Quartet' and then as the bass player of the group 'Perigeo' and Enzo Grillini, part of the Rai orchestra and a favorite guitar player of both Armando Trovajoli and Gianni Ferrio who, at the time, was considered one of the best Italian Jazz guitar player and who rarely recorded music outside of the RAI orchestra. The style of this record, thanks to this very particular group of musicians, contrary to many other Library recordings, is very jazzy and the very special sound reminds us of the Jazz organ of the Verve/Blue Note labels made in the Sixties. The Seven Men Label, another characteristic of this new edition, born from a partnership of 7 mysterious producers and musicians in order to produce background music, in fact, only produced four recordings and they are : '1' that you are already listening to, 2, AKA 'Il Cinghialetto' directed by Gianni Ferrio and played by the very best popular and classical musicians of the day, as the soundtrack of a theatre piece written by Grazia Deledda and to conclude there are two recordings made in the 1970's written by Bruno Canfora: 'Musiche di scena n°1' and 'Musiche di scena n°2'. To have been able to bring this recording out again, knowing about its ups and downs and how it was made, is even more important now, as we have been able to add yet another gem to the numerous reeditions of the 'Italian Library Music' over these past years.

Since the release of his 2 first albums on Favorite Recordings, Lucas Arruda has quickly established
himself as one of the most talented young artist and composer from Brazil. His music is filled with fusion
style, mixing influences and elements from his Latin musical background, with his genuine admiration for
Jazz, Soul, Pop and Funk music.
In spring 2015, it was also not surprising to find Lucas Arruda back with a new LP called Solar, receiving
great supports and feedbacks from international media and tastemakers. One of the highlight of the
album was the song 'Melt the Night', on which Lucas teamed up with legendary producer Leon Ware,
reminding his collaborations in the 80s with Marcos Valle, when they perfectly merged together the
sophisticated Boogie and AOR touch from California, with the blazing sense of rhythm from Brazil.
Today Favorite Recordings proudly present Onda Nova, new and third album by Lucas Arruda. Mostly
written, composed and arranged by himself, Lucas however teams up on a few tracks with his old mate
Fabricio di Monaco (Modo Solar), his brother and musical partner Thiago Arruda, who recently joined
Ed Motta's live band, or Gaël Benyamin, also known as Geyster, who brings his longtime 'savoir-faire'
and skills for writing and composing AOR and WestCoast music genre, and who share this deep passion
with Lucas.
Onda Nova is therefore pursuing the music direction set with Solar, mixing touch of Blue-Eyed-Soul,
Pop, Soul and Brazilian styles together, and influenced by the path of legendary Brazilian producer
Lincoln Olivetti, who recorded some of the biggest stars of Brazilian music (Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben,
Tim Maia...).
In Lucas words: 'In this record I really wanted to honor Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti. They are the
main influence on this record. We recorded the basic tracks for the album in the same studio that Lincoln
Olivetti did his last works. So, this was very important to capture the true essence of Brazilian Funk/AOR
tradition. Hope you guys enjoy it!'

Matasuna Records is delighted to present another highlight with its new release: the first ever official reissue of the 7inch "Viajecito/Too Late" by Peruvian band "Black Sugar". Originally released in 1971, the single is one of the most in demand Latin American 45s. So it isn't surprising that nowadays 7inches in good condition are extremly rare and only available for several hundred dollars.
Both tracks were completely remastered in Lima (Peru) and now sound better than ever!
In 1970 Black Sugar emerged from the band "Los Far-Fen", which was founded 1969 by guitarist Victor "Coco" Salazar and keyboardist Miguel "Chino" Figueroa. The new musical director of the label Sono Radio, Jamie Delgado, signed them in 1970 and gave the band its name "Black Sugar". He also helped them to record & release their first self-titled LP in 1971. Black Sugar was formed by some of Peru's best young musicians of their day and achieved great success in South America.
Viajecito opens the single and surprises with his varied composition: guitar riffs meet strange vocal/animal sounds and create a psychedelic atmosphere. With introduction of the bassline, the piano and the rhythm section, the track moves away from this mood. When the horns start to play and the vocals appear, the track gets another turn and takes the listener on "a little journey". Excellent Latin Jazz track that makes you want more!
Too Late is one of the biggest tunes of the Northern Soul scene and also one of the most sought after vinyl. Listening to it reveals why: the piano and the brass create an extremely intoxicating melody - perfectly accompanied by a great rhythm combo, which is pushed further and further by the singer. For sure one of the best Latinsoul songs and a bomb for every dancefloor!

Names You Can Trust presents the second installment of Rueda de Bullerengue, a collaborative series with NY-based Bullerengue collective, Bulla En El Barrio. Named after the group's ongoing monthly performance and workshop in Brooklyn, Bulla's collaborative spirit and dedication to the tradition of los bailes cantados has made an indelible mark on the bubbling tropical music scene of New York City, and in turn, found their way into the crates and sets of DJs and vinyl aficionados via their first 7-inch release on NYCT in 2017. Since those initial moves, Bulla has continued to grow and add working members while maintaining a philosophy and connection grounded in the traditions of their Colombian origins. They've studied and collaborated with elders and legends like Emilson Pacheco and Darlina Sáenz, and this past year embarked on a recording with Barranquilla-based collective Tonada Baile Cantado — the focus of this edition's recording and release.
Considered one of the premier groups advancing the tradition of Bullerengue within Colombia, this incredibly talented group of young musicians are a rarity for their skill and age. In a region where there are ongoing festivals celebrating the tradition of Bullerengue that still command massive audiences and performers, Tonada is a true representative of what can happen when such an amazing tradition is passed forward to an eager next generation. Produced by Bulla members Camilo Rodriguez and Diana Herrera (aka Carolina Oliveras) in between their time smashing stages across the U.S. for Combo Chimbita, this is a carefully nurtured and powerful bridge to the beloved traditions of Colombia's Caribe region.
Without further ado, here lies Volume 2 of Rueda de Bullerengue, featuring Tonada Baile Cantado, a new generation of traditional Colombian dance music transmitted directly from Barranquilla — Four dance floor crashers in the styles of fandango and chalupa, ready-made for your 45 spins in the inimitable style of Names You Can Trust.

One of Brazil's most prolific artists, Eumir Deodato has racked up 16 platinum albums, won a Grammy (and been nominated for two more), and sold over 250 million records in the USA alone. After moving from Rio de Janeiro to New York in the late 60's, Deodato would work as a composer, arranger, producer and keyboardist on nearing 500 records, under his own name and with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind & Fire, Frank Sinatra, Kool & The Gang, George Benson, Tom Jobim and Bjork, to name a just a few.
But before that, a young Deodato had already cemented his status in Brazil as one of the country's top musical minds. In the mid-sixties, when he wasn't working with the likes of Roberto Menescal, Joao Donato, and Marcos Valle, Deodato recorded a string of albums with his lesser known instrumental samba jazz and bossa nova ensemble Os Catedráticos.
A masterpiece of hip Brazilian swing, Ataque reflects the deeper, groovier side of that magical, hazy sound of sixties Rio, with monster samba grooves backing big brass arrangements and scorching organ solos. Amongst Deodato's own tracks, there are compositions by Marcos & Paulo Sergio Valle, Baden Powell and Luiz Bonfa, arranged for a big horn section, which includes trombone player Edson Maciel, and given an extra dose of cool from the inimitable drums of Wilson Das Neves and Ruebens Bassini on percussion.
An elusive long player in the cannon of killer, groovy Brazilian music, with vinyl copies near impossible to find for less than three digits, Ataque finally gets the official Far Out reissue treatment: re-mastered and pressed to 180g vinyl. Now available for the first time outside of South America.

Matasuna Records has once again unearthed two Latin gems for its latest release: two rare tracks by Argentina-born musician Enrique Lynch. Lynch moved from Argentina to Peru in the 1960s and became artistic director and producer of the Sono Radio label. He released an astonishing amount of albums with his various bands over the span of nearly three decades.
The two songs will be available together on a vinyl single for the first time - and the track from the flipside will also be released on a 7inch for the first time. For this official reissue Matasuna was lucky enough to have access to the original master tapes. The tracks were carefully restored and remastered in Lima (Peru).
African Bump is one of Enrique Lynch's greatest tracks and the original 7inch is much sought after by collectors and DJs alike. The song immediately captivates the listener as the Wah Wah guitar begins to play and enters into perfect harmony with organ and brass. A thrilling disco funk beat, rhythmic percussion elements and a hypnotic hookline spice up the track and show what great musical treasures South America has to offer.
On the flipside there's a great cover version of the Soul and Funk anthem K-Jee by American band The Nite-Liters, which had a hit with this song in 1971 and even entered the billboard charts. Enrique's version adds some extra grooves with killer beats and breaks, a heavy bassline and wild percussion parts. A distinctive horn section meets funky guitar riffs and deep organ sounds. A fantastic funk tune that will set any dance floor on fire!

14 tracks from 1963 to 1983 of South-American female singers.
1973, Medellin, Colombia
The well-known ornithologist Tom Stakhanov, traveling in the South-America for bird watching, including chicks, fall in love with cumbia music and, to be more specific, with the female singers. He starts to dig for South-American music records to remember the mood when he wil have to come back to Paris.
Back home, a night in a famous tiki bar in the French capital, Cedrico AKA « The Manager » introduces him to the no less famous The Loire Valley Calypsos, a band very enthusiastic about exotic music. After drinking « chartreuse » and « crémant », becoming friends, they convince themselves that it is highly important to make cumbia female singers great again.

Raul Refree is one of the most acclaimed Spanish producers of the last decade. Working with ground breaking artists such as
Silvia Perez Cruz and Rosalia he has been at the forefront of the so-called 'new flamenco' movement.
He also collaborates with rock experimentalists like Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth - both playing in his band and co-producing Lee's last album 'Electric Trim.'
But Raül's musical life doesn't stop there. He is also a noted songwriter/composer/ musician who has released 6 previous solo albums, acclaimed film soundtracks and an
overflowing discography of genre-skewing projects. It is this merging of soundworlds that makes Raül's new solo release La Otra Mitad (The Other Half) - under the moniker
Refree - such an immersive and transportive listen. Mesmerizing acoustic and electric guitar explorations meet sampled street recordings,
haunted voices and hushed electronics. Nuanced and boundless. Having spent the last years as an inspired facilitator for, and co-creator with, a plethora of
storied musicians (American songwriter Josh Rouse, the aforementioned Cruz, Ranaldo, Rosalía and many more), in 2017 Refree undertook the production of two instrumental
leaning 10-inch solo EPs. The first of these, Jai Alai vol.01, is mostly a collection of reflective solo guitar music, with each title named according to the instrument used
on the track and the date on which it was played ('Ramirez 11012017' / 'Telecaster 01032017b'). The second Jai Alai volume is quite a different proposition, with the
material coming from a soundtrack project, and the sound palette expanded to include recordings of street music, voices and a subtle electronic dimension.
The tak:til release La Otra Mitad is a full-length album that weaves together the two Eps and creates a dramatic new entity in itself. Whereas the guitar tracks included from
Jai Alai vol.01 echo the spontaneity and sturdy simplicity of Derek Bailey or Durutti Column, they are balanced beautifully by the more textured soundtrack compositions
from Jai Alai vol.02, that make up the majority of the album.

In the sweltering North-Eastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco lies the coastal city of Recife, where Amaro Freitas is pioneering the new sound of Brazilian jazz. For the prodigious young pianist, the spirit of his hometown runs deep. From the Afro-Brazilian maracatu born on the sugar plantations of slavery, to the high intensity carnival rhythms of frevo and baião, Amaro's heavily percussive approach to jazz is as indebted to these Pernambuco traditions as it is to Coltrane, Parker and Monk.
As with many of the greats before him, Amaro began playing piano in church aged 12, under the instruction of his father, leader of the church band. As his natural talents became obvious, the young prodigy quickly outgrew his father's instruction. He won a place at the prestigious Conservatório Pernambucano de Música but had to drop out as his family could not spare the money for the bus fare. Undeterred, Amaro gigged in bands at weddings and worked in a call centre to fund his tuition. The transformative moment came at age 15 when Amaro stumbled across a DVD of Chick Corea concert, 'he completely blew my mind, I'd never seen anything like it but I knew that's what I wanted to do with a piano'.
Despite not actually owning a piano, Amaro devoted himself to studying day and night - he would practice on imaginary keys in his bedroom, until eventually striking a deal with a local restaurant to practice before opening hours. By the age of 22 Amaro was one of the most sought-after musicians in Recife and resident pianist at the legendary jazz bar Mingus. It was during this time he met and begun collaborating with bassist Jean Elton and the pair went in search of a drummer. 'We kept hearing about this crazy kid who was playing in 7/8 or 6/4, we knew we had to meet him'. Hugo Medeiros joined, and the Amaro Freitas Trio was born.
'I want to show the simplicity of music, to break the stigma that the piano is for a particular social class. Yes, it's a difficult instrument, which many people do not have access to, but with it you can express everything.'
Following his critically acclaimed debut album Sangue Negro (black blood), the title of his sophomore release Rasif is a colloquial spelling of Amaro's home town. A love letter to his native northeast, Amaro explores its traditional rhythms through the jazz idiom, employing complex mathematical patterns reminiscent of some of the most challenging works by fellow Brazilian masters Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti and Moacir Santos.
Preferring to see the piano as a though it were a drum with 88 unique tones, Amaro's intelligence and emotion intertwine on every track, from album opener 'Dona Eni': a scorching reconstruction of the baião rhythmic structure, played in seven measures instead of two, to the serene homage to the coastal reef and its ecosystems on the title track 'Rasif'. 'Aurora' is a suite of three parts, representing the sun's journey from the light and soft of the rise, to the aggressive dissonance at its midday zenith and descending chromatic cadences as the sun sets.
Due for an Autumn release on Far Out Recordings, Rasif sees Amaro Freitas take a deserved step onto the world stage. Having already made a name for himself in Brazil, Amaro and his phenomenal band will embark on their first European tour later this year.

Entdeckung gemacht.

Debut single from the mighty Tim Maia! Released upon his return from the USA in the late 60's. Highly sought after and prized in its original form, we are very proud to reissue this record.
Maia sings in English here - influenced by his time spend travelling and working in the USA. Both songs are very soulful, reminiscent of the great soul singers of 1960's USA, who were clearly a powerful inspiration to him. Official Mr Bongo reissue. Licensed from Som Livre.

dream team of top talent he named the 22archestra, who he leads seamlessly throughout. Listeners are exposed to the full breadth of Cawthorne's technical and compositional skills, ranging from subtly meandering jazz, to hip hop, Afrobeat, Latin and exhilarating free form jazz.
The groups includes former Yussef Kamaal member Yussef Dayes on drums, Ruby Rushton bassist Fergus Ireland and producers Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Jeen Bassa on percussion.
The tracks include SV Disco', a nod to the mighty Slum Village, is a chunk of sensually-contorted disco vibes that brings on full party mode instantaneously, with the slinky bass licks and pitch-bent synthesiser recalling Roy Ayres's blissed-out funk.
'Maria' showcases Ed's roots as sample-based producer, pulling influence from around the globe to create an undulating piece of flute-led Brazilian fusion that fans of Ruby Rushton will find familiar. The eastern-inspired embellishments raise the temperature further, whilst former Yussef Kamaal member Yussef Dayes' sizzling cymbals and shuffling snare work propel the track forwards, locking down a signature 22a groove.
'Yussef's Groove' kicks off with driving drums, and each of the 22archestra enter steadily, fully utilising their virtuosic power, switching between low-slung bass, chic open piano solos and hazy electric piano.
The 22archestra was conceived after Tenderlonious was invited to record at Abbey Road Studios. The whole crew was rounded-up and the album was recorded during a single 8 hour session - a testament to their musicianship and ability to nail a take.
Personnel: Ed 'Tenderlonious' Cawthorne (flute & synth), Hamish Balfour (keys), Fergus Ireland (bass), Yussef Dayes (drums), Reginald Omas Mamode IV, Jeen Bassa, Konrad (percussion)

Atangana Records's back with its second release, once again a long-awaited reissue, once again digging into the Caribbean music with a classic track from Les Maxel's (from Guadeloupe), Le Retour de Toto'. As usual, the remastered tune comes with a remix and a B2 just' coming with the remixer's add parts.
Originally out in 1976, Le Retour de Toto' on Disques Debs International is a brilliant dancefloor killer, magnifying the cross-world between zouk and latino music, biguine and calypso. You can hear from the prominent hi-hat all the energy of the dance moves you could improvise on that kind of joint. With a lot of break, wonderful horns and backing vocals, Le Retour de Toto' will enjoy all the summer dancefloor and airwaves for some time...
Deni Shain says : When we discovered this gem with my friend Likkle Ben, over a night of digging, it's mainly the keyboard break that drove us nuts! We were already hearing the edit that we'd make for our gigs... It didn't take long for me to contact the family of Henry Debs, introducing Atangana's project. They loved it, and at that time I went to studio with my friend Papastomp to start remixing it... I love how we added step by step the addparts, giving respect to the original tape...

The first release on a new label: Pura Vida Sounds founded by Guts, in conjunction with Heavenly Sweetness. El Tipo Este is a pioneer of Hip Hop in Cuba and Al Quetz, a leading French beat maker.
This canny combo have drawn from the local musical currents, absorbing Afro-Cuban sounds, adding the freedom of jazz, the metronome of hip hop and a healthy bass shake of neighbouring island Jamaica.
For Cubans, El Tipo Este is the pioneer of all things hip-hop. As founding member of Obsesion, one of the nation's most notable hip hop exports. Early champions of his music included Gilles Peterson, who selected a track
to include in his 'Havana Cultura; New Cuba Sounds' compilation. Hot off the heels of this, El Tipo Este was enlisted to assemble the full band of musicians for the Havana Cultura tour. This unit played stages across Europe, USA and
closer to home in Latin America, and in turn this led to collaborations with The Roots and Mos Def For this long player, El Tipo Este he has enlisted beat maker France's Al Quetz to carry his rhymes. Originally known as Quetzal, Al Quetz is a crucial figure in
the world of beat making. A sound scientist whose cut, loop, program, paste compositions has seen him collaborate with the likes of Onra, Guts, La Fine Equipe and Milk Coffee & Sugar.

Three years ago Danish guitar player and highly acclaimed session musician Jacob Gurevitsch made his solo debut with 'Lovers In Paris', a sweetly melancholic single which conquered sunsets worldwide and earned a place in many quality compilations and has over 10 million views on Youtube. Roll forward to 2018 and this stunning track now heads up the Danish guitarist's first vinyl album, on Kenneth Bager's renowned Music For Dreams label. The original album of 'Lovers In Paris' album entered the iTunes chart at #1 position in Denmark and was (back then) being hailed as one of the Records of the Year by the Balearic Community. And the success story continues. With over 2 million monthly streams Jacob Gurevitsch is a name to watch.
This vinyl debut album 'An Introduction' consists of selected works from the 'Lovers In Paris album, a few from his 'Cinematica' Ep and some from his forthcoming album 'In Search Of Lost Time.'
One could say A kind of Greatest Hits.!
10 melodic and beautiful originals.
'Mexican Margarita' is a truly impressive piece of guitar work with superb bongos and bass - already an essential tune for any Balearic collector - and the recently released single 'Spanish Inquisition' a current DJ Harvey fave, shows his technical and compositional ante into the world of Flamenco. 'Mapa De Soledad' and 'Poesia Del Mar' both gorgeous and moving Mediterranean-flavoured ballads full of emotional keyboards, soulful strings and accordions. The indelible upbeat of 'Motive Loco' and elegiac cinematic 'In Search Of Lost Time' remains memorable long after listening and this hits the nail on the head.
Jacob Gurevitsch the guitar player and composer has a unique sensibility to write themes and melodies that transcend time and sound like divine interventions.

'Packed full of great, twanging guitar lines. An exquisite album. One of the musical highlights of the year. ' - Uncut
'Mambo Sinuendo generates a flavour unlike anything most of us have heard before. When Uncle Ry packs his bags and books that flight, he never comes back without something cool, weird and distinctive. This be no exception.' - Mojo
Nonesuch releases on vinyl, for the first time, Ry Cooder & Manuel Galbán's classic, Grammy Award-winning 2002 album Mambo Sinuendo.
Cooder's collaboration with the late Cuban guitar legend Galbán hearkens back to a point in the late 1950s when Cuban popular music began to hint at a fusion of American pop-jazz and the futuristic creations of modern Cuban composers. Borne along by the mid-century mambo and cha-cha-cha crazes, the hot sounds of mambo-jazz spread out into American popular culture. But nowhere can there be found a more perfect representation of this style than in the recordings of the Havana doo-wop quartet Los Zafiros, still after 50 years the most popular Cuban vocal group of all time. As Los Zafiros's guitarist and arranger, Galbán pioneered a tough, rocking guitar style that is considered by Cuban musicians to be unique in their music. Mambo Sinuendo reintroduced Galbán - pianist, organist, and guitarist extraordinaire.
