A somnambulant journey through psychedelic bedroom fantasy-scapes, Glare is Roe Enney's first proper LP after only a few under-the-radar cassette releases on Phaserprone, Discriminate and Piero since 2011. Recorded over the last couple years, Glare unfolds like a manifesto on the devolution of communication. An experiment of thresholds: electronic, political, poetical, Roe Enney touches on the likes of Tara Cross or Anne Clark but only briefly before hurtling into a subterranean world of closed-off obsessions.

"The electronic artist is always enmeshed in a battle of thresholds. What does one do This is because she, the electronic spirit, is always in the process of change. This spirit is never stable, it is tenuous. It is a moving hierarchy, a royal island with a v. real topography, with its own guard, observation deck, casino. The music on this record firmly pledges allegiance to this island, and yet it is out somewhere on the shore, perhaps 'dreaming of elsewhere.' Yet one cannot help what one is. Perhaps the record is cast-off."

Francis Macdonald has plays drums with Teenage Fanclub and makes music for filmmakers/TV. Other artists he has worked with include BMX Bandits, Alex Chilton, Belle & Sebastian, The Pastels, Camera Obscura and The Vaselines. His album Music For String, Quartet, Piano & Celeste' (2015) was described as Sublime, minimalist classical music' by Classic FM in the UK.

Harry Pye is a London-based artist, once described by The Guardian newspaper as "the master of lo fi British art". He won first prize in a competition to paint a portrait of Tony Blair, judged by Gilbert & George. He edits The Rebel art webzine and has had exhibitions of his work in London, Denmark, Australia and Brazil. Collaborations with filmmaker Gordon Beswick have been screened at Tate Modern and Tate Britain in London.

Harry and Francis began collaborating when Harry asked Francis to write about his favourite Elvis song for a fanzine. Then Harry invited Francis to add percussion to a song he was recording with Neil Innes - a version of Micke Nesmith's Rio, in the run up to The 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Harry then began sending Francis song lyrics and Francis would write music.

'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' is the horrifically wry new album from The Bomber Jackets. Following on from 'Lister,' their debut for Alter, 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' has a restlessness that takes broader strokes. It finds and holds a register of meandering hope by setting the perverted detail of domestic minutiae against an acutely self-conscious melancholy that cynically daydreams its way into an awkward middle-ground between profundity and platitude.

Following the stop-start formation that plagued the group's early days, the three-piece of Russell Walker, Daniel Bolger, and Sian Dorrer remain intact. Both Walker and Bolger will be familiar from the ticklish post-punk of The Pheromoans, whilst Dorrer has a varied CV with groups such as Plug, and Ravioli Me Away, and with involvement across London DIY nodes.

At times they give it a bit of a desaturated garage bump, other times there's the throb of marching mono-synth wave. 'Deranged Sauce Mum' comes off as a chopped and screwed hardcore, though with Walker's vocals it's less gurning glee and more furrowed brow, it should be said. There are very many disparate elements across 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' that come to give the new album a kind of uneasy grace, which is perhaps the groups singular force, the unchaining of an ingenious familiarity that's dizzyingly bizarre and equally bleak.

Lyrically and musically their new album contains the traces of many surfaces both interior and exterior. Its dream-like qualities are formed through a kind of musical frottage, always preserving the trace of the hand, arriving at its surreal heights through fidgety non-sequiturs of an aesthetically acerbic persuasion. In this way it never quite replicates anything that you feel to be present in its parts. 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' indexes petty despondency for better days, imagining some unforeseen and unremarkable circumstance that makes up for it all.

Welwyn Garden City's former shredded wheat factory is on the cover. Redevelopment plans for the site are in progress.

This Record Store Day exclusive 10" includes three versions of two tracks from Cleopatra, each recorded at a different point in the song's life. There's the "seed", which is the early demo version, the album cut and a live version pulled from of the shows on the tour. This particular record features seeds of "Angela" and "Long Way From Home" and it's a great piece for anyone who loves the band and wants to feel a part of their creative process.

Legendary Japanese noise band, Hijokaidan, team up with electronic avant-pop pioneer Togawa.

Hijokaidan was formed in Kyoto in 1979 by Jojo Hiroshige and Naoki Zushi, and are undisputed leaders of the Japanese noise scene.

Jun Togawa's first recordings as writer producer and singer were in the early 80s, sometimes working with Haruomi Hosono among others. This new and cataclysmic collaboration is produced by Hiroshige and Togawa.

This time, the root of Biafra's frustration-- aside from the threat of global terrorism, the Bush administration's response to the threat of global terrorism, and, uh, yuppies in Cadillacs-- is personal: The Melvins approached him about a possible collaboration after witnessing the supposed Dead Kennedys "reunion," which-- after a series of inter-band legal disputes-- occurred without Biafra at the helm. The Melvins are ideal musical foils to Biafra's maniacal persona, and show an admirable willingness to subdue and camouflage their normally obtrusive sound. The band members' great admiration and respect for Biafra's work are evident in the album's malleable arrangements, which strike a perfect balance between the Melvins' grimy post-alternative metal and classic Kennedys-style California punk.

Born as the daughter of two opera singers JOSIN grows up constantly surrounded by music.
For herself JOSIN draws a lot of her inspiration of the northern world, which is as rich in contrasts as her music. It is rough and cold but full of nutrients and life. And if you wish you can exist in it and slowly but certainly and then forever recognise its beauty.
Currently the musician is working on her first album and new songs. Although JOSIN likes to choose a way between elegance and minimalism, the first tracks of the new recordings present themselves with a power that presses forward more determinedly. Her producing also appears more open and experimental with electronical and classical elements. Yet she maintains her natural otherness and intensity in a timeless way.

Auckland-based guitarist Oscar Dowling embarks on his debut solo album, leaving his deepest emotions laid bare across the table. The former New Gum Sarn member has created a subdued guitar record in the great indie tradition of his homeland. One that leads into the abyss, tantalising with heartbreak and his unsettling bitterness towards life and death. Influenced heavily from the identity of his country and battling with "my own identity, falling in love, anxiety and mental illness, friends, family and enemies to name a few".Free And Easy was recorded and mixed with Ben Lawson at The Red Bull Studios in Auckland. The album features local luminaries Steven Huf, Will Wood, Mason Fairey, and Sam Hamilton. Dowling recalls; "Ben heard me play at my neighbours wedding and later asked if I wanted some studio time at Red Bull. He gave me a week in between other projects and last minute I realised I didn't want to record solo and asked friends Steven Huf and Will Wood if they wanted to help me out. I'd seen both of them play with a lot of different people over the years and knew they could pull it off without much warning. I think we only practiced 3 times."Recording in such swish surrounding felt alien to Oscar, as he states "it was different to the DIY style I'm used to, lots of fancy gear and a soundproofed, air conditioned live room. We had a reasonably strict time schedule so when we were there it was all go and no fucking around."Whether soaked in Oscar's melancholy voice and warped out guitars, ('Sally Free and Easy'), or accompanied by a delicate piano ('Low Moon') or the jarringly raw ('Ease My Passing') each track paints a vivid picture of Oscar's life. Title track ('The Life') is best at transcending this portrait of the hardship of life with an entrancing melody line and ruthless lyrics, those lyrics severing as a medium for "understanding subjects such as death and love" and finding comfort in writing about his relationship with mental health, the outcome being "very therapeutic."After spending the past year beekeeping with his brother, Oscar is still able to live out the perfect balance between city life and the countryside. Having grown up in the sticks, he tells us that the reason for moving to the capitol was that "people from all over come here to make music and find others making music, so it has a decent scene. I moved here for that reason and it has influenced me massively in terms of how I think about music and why I continue to make it."The heavy use of dialogue is what will transcend Free and Easy to it's listeners - reconnecting us with our own identity and making us remember what really is important. "My family, my girlfriend and my friends. They are the people I look to for inspiration everyday."

Man From Uranus has been making music inspired by the freakier edges of 60s and 70s library music and jazz for almost 2 decades, and like his predecessors - Sun Ra, Space Lady - he's never really fitted in, feeling more comfortable exploring cosmic realms than than with his feet firmly on his own planet. A prolific composer and home recordist, he has garnered a reputation for eccentric live shows, each presenting an entirely new repertoire. Alien Flowers, in a limited edition of 300, is one of few recordings capturing the spirit of an artist who is unwittingly on his way to attainting cult status.

Brooklyn based Rips have quickly built a reputation amongst NYC showgoers, winning them over with their virtuous melodies and sheer ferocity amidst an endless flurry of shows.
