Leading up to the release of the album, Keb' Mo' will make various media appearances in support of this highly anticipated new release.

Bobby Caldwell, Peter White, Keiko Matsui, Dolly Parton, Mindi Abair, Leonard Cohen, David Benoit, Barry Manilow and Al Jarreau are just a few of the many names on Sargeant's lengthy resume, and he also served as the in-house band bassist for The Howie Mandel Show and The Tonight Show.

Keyboardist/guitarist/singer/songwriter Michael B. Hicks is a staple on the Nashville funk and soul music scene and is a 5 time recipient of a Nashville Independent Music Award.

A portion of the proceeds from the album will be donated to Playing For Change Foundation, an organization Keb' has been involved with since it's inception.

influenced by Charlie Parker. But it is to his credit that soon after he forged a style which became his very own. As has
often been noted, there was a joyous quality about his playing that very few of his contemporaries could or chose to
match.

When Downbeat reviewed Miles Ahead in 1957, the magazine awarded five stars and commented: 'This is an
extraordinarily well done album with absolutely no point which you can wish for more. Miles' solos throughout
have an almost ascetic purity about them.' But Miles was delighted by a more personal assessment. In his
autobiography he remembered: 'After Miles Ahead came out, Dizzy (Gillespie) came by one day to see me and
asked for another copy of the record because he had played his so much he had worn it out in three weeks.'
Enjoy this incredible LP including "Springville", "New Rhumba" and "My Ship".

Eventually joining Bogart and Appice were guitarist Jim McCarthy (Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels) and singer Rusty Day form Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes for this self-titled album that is arguably the highlight in their catalogue. The shredding turbocharged Boogie is a very fine example of how exciting early Seventies Hard Rock still can be!

Is there another more responsible for the blues as we know them than Willie Dixon A songwriter and musician without peer, Willie wrote blues standard after blues standard. Not only did his songs become career-making hits for the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter and Otis Rush, among others, but it inspired another generation of musicians including the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, Cream and Led Zeppelin, to name just a few.

Poet Of The Blues, available on vinyl for the first time,
features 21 classic Dixon songs.

Besides his well-known songs, recorded in the early 70s, this compilation contains the classic 1947-1952 Big Three sessions. These recordings prove the most interesting historically.

One of the unsung heroes of the Piedmont blues style, Robert Hicks, aka Barbecue Bob recorded over sixty sides for Columbia Records and became one of the best-selling artists on their 'race series', outsold only by Bessie Smith, Ethel Waters and Blind Willie Johnson. With his original and witty compositions he was one of the real pioneers of the Atlanta blues scene of the time, but his career was tragically ended by his death from pneumonia at the age of just 29.

Characterized by a heavy percussive guitar style, he often used a bottleneck and played with a frailing technique that is more often associated with the claw hammer banjo. His twelve string guitar gave a rich accompaniment to his warm nasal singing voice which, compared to the morbid and foreboding songs of the Delta blues, created a vibe which was jaunty and upbeat.

With a huge repertoire of songs ranging from hokum to slow blues and spirituals to traditional songster tunes, his music is imbued with a special warmth typical to the East Coast blues. Even from the opening few measures of his very first record 'Barbecue Blues', Hicks signature sound of a bright and trebly twelve string guitar combined with his expressive voice is instantly accessible and almost 'pop' sounding in comparison with other blues singers of the time.

Largely due to his life being tragically cut short in 1931, his music has been sadly overlooked and has therefore not received the respect proffered to other East coast players such as Blind Willie McTell and Buddy Moss. He was however a true innovator in his time, and this compilation gives proof that his music is undoubtedly some of the most engaging early blues that you are likely to hear.

Includes a FREE download card allowing you to download the full album and it also gives you extra Barbecue Bob tracks.

Here is the follow up to last year's Volume One of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers Live In 1967', featuring Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood before they became Fleetwood Mac. Volume 2 showcases three John Mayall originals including the opening track, all-time blues classic Tears In My Eyes', Chicago Line', complete with John McVie bass solo, and Please Don't Tell', a great example of the power blues The Bluesbreakers were revered for.

Thanks to dedicated fan Tom Huissen who took his one channel reel-to-reel tape recorder into various London clubs in 1967, these historical performances were captured for all time. Unheard for almost fifty years, John recently obtained these tapes and began restoring them with the technical assistance of Eric Corne of Forty Below Records. Corne adds, While the source recording was very rough and the final result is certainly not hi-fidelity, it does succeed in allowing us to hear how spectacular these performances are.' It's truly an exciting glimpse into music history.

While John Coltrane first gained attention for his revolutionary 'sheets of sound' technique, it was the deep spirituality of his music that really made his recordings as a bandleader such classics. The albums this giant of music recorded for Atlantic in 1959 and 1960 really represent the heart of his legacy.

John Coltrane's life will be the subject of a new documentary (tentative title: Chasin' Trane), out later this year, and now, for the first time since their original release, this box set gathers his mono recordings from the Atlantic vaults.

Born in 1920, Charlie 'Yardbird' Parker made it out of Kansas City via music. He played with several bands,
experimenting all the while, declaring he was bored with the stereotype format of jazz. He set out to remove the
obstacles that barred his way to musical perfection and remove them he did. In 1945 during October and November,
Parker returned to the studios with a quintet that included Miles Davis, still only 21, to record the remainder of the
material heard on Early Bird. Enjoy this excellent LP including "Don't Blame Me", "Bongo Bop" and "Dewey Square".

The University had recently created its own small record label called High Water and he brought Kimbrough in to cut some sides, including his next single titled, "Keep Your Hands Off Her." The sides would be compiled for Junior's first full-length album, Do The Rump. The result has become hill country legend, and his band, featuring Calvin Jackson on drums (father to Cedric Burnside and one of the most rock steady drummers of all time), created a sound that launched a whole new generation of blues fans. Various - Katanga! Ahbe Casabe: Exotic Blues & Rhythm Vol. 1&2

This LP combines the first two volumes from the 'Exotic Blues & Rhythm' compilation series named 'Katanga!' and 'Ahbe Casabe!'. This album is a colorful garden of delights consisting of R'n'B and rock'n'roll based songs from the 1940s to the early 1960s that all have this slightly exotic, dark and mystical feeling from the melody structures and instrumentation. Most of the tunes at hand sound astonishingly fresh and timeless. EDDIE COLE & THREE PEPPERS with their hypnotizing groover 'Police' for example present a Caribbean mento with a mambo and rhythm'n'blues feel. The beat will drag you directly from your seat and make you swing on the dancefloor. This piece finds its roots in the late 1940s and demonstrates impressively how far even the predecessors of rock music already got in their development. The simple yet haunting lead vocal harmony makes this song a steaming hot all-time fave. And this is only one out of 26 rare gems. The album already starts magically with a gloomy bluesy tune named 'Green onions' played by German composer and conductor Claus Ogermann, a cover of a BOOKER T & THE MG'S tune from 1962 with a rather specific basic melody that will stay with you forever. There is much more simmering popcorn rock and enchanting exciting pop from those old times to be found on this compilation and when you reach the 'Ahbe Casabe' this is where the strange and quirky charme of exotica music captures your soul even more. The title track for example is a song from the late 50s written by proto hippie Ehden Ahbez that combines a Latin groove with a vocal melody speaking of dark backstreets in oriental cities. The album is rich on colors and the view behind the obvious you are allowed to take will open an entirely new world for you. The 1940s, 1950s and 1960s had much more to offer than what we already know and this is a field of diamonds you get to dig in when you spin this record. Tracks like "Shadow Street" leave you once more somewhere in between the jungle and a haunted oriental café in a town near the desert plains of Egypt. Next to master Ike Turner (still without his later wife and coming legend Tina) with his exotic surf instrumental 'Katanga' from the first part, good old rock'n'roll pioneer Bill Haley should be the most famous contributor to this musical treasure chest. The sheer sensual stimulation you receive from these 24 songs will make you groove your mind away. Regardless where you are, these catchy Rhythm and Blues tunes will turn any place into a vintage dancefloor!

The Hard Working Americans do more with one moment than many artists do with an entire career, and prove it again with its latest release 'Rest In Chaos'
With the exception of Guy Clark's "The High Price of Inspiration," the 13-track album was written by the band on the road, live in six different studios.
The lead track, "Opening Statement," sets the album's gritty tone and rolls right into "It Runs Together," which describes Snider first meeting his ex-wife in recovery. "Half Ass Moses" is essentially three driving rock songs rolled into one, and the gospel-esque stomper "Throwing The Goats," blasts "we've got all the integrity that money can't buy." The album's title is nestled in "Ascending Into Madness," which Snider says is "about being an artist and coming up with new art."
It's been Snider's two-decade-plus professional proclivity to take the lyrical knife to expectation and subtly stab, then twist. On 'Rest In Chaos' Snider's knife has become a machete, with both words and voice.

Michael Edward "Mike" Cotton hit the UK professional jazz circuit with his trad jazz outfit The Mike Cotton Jazzmen in the 1950s. The Mike Cotton Jazzmen recorded three singles and one EP for Columbia between 1961 and 1963, prior to moving from jazz to a more pop / R&B oriented style and a band name change to The Mike Cotton Sound. They were regulars in the London R&B / Mod club circuit of the early sixties and in 1964 they released one single and their eponymous LP on Columbia, plus one single on Denmark's branch of the Metronome label. They would be releasing other 45s through 1965, and inn 1966 their style evolved again, entering the field of soul music and performing and recording as Lucas and The Mike Cotton Sound. Lucas was Bruce McPherson Lucas, an american singer who had previously been working with other bands in the Norwich area.

The Mike Cotton Sound also acted as a backing band, both live and in the studio, for artists such as Sugar Pie DeSanto, Gene Pitney, Stevie Wonder, Doris Troy, The Four Tops and Solomon Burke. They also backed Mary Hopkin in her classic Postcard LP for The Beatles' Apple Records. Their brass section, which included Mike Cotton himself on trumpet and flugelhorn, joined The Kinks on their 1971 Muswell Hillbillies album and stayed with them until the mid 1970s, when Cotton returned to the jazz scene.

Wah Wah offers the first ever official vinyl format reissue of The Mike Cotton Sound classic LP, released in a gorgeus front laminated sleeve with three backflaps, featuring 5 bonus tracks taken from non-LP singles and an insert with photos and liner notes.

Dubkasm - Victory (mala Remix) / Stealth

To be remixed by Mala is a rare honour, and one that is perfectly in line with Dubkasm's ethos of always moving forward while staying true to dub's versioning tradition. This 10" cut of 'Victory' - with dreamy, deep bass, Mala's unique percussion style, and the anthemic horns that helped make the original a huge hit - has been exclusive to Mala and Dubkasm sets for a over year. The accompanying video, with its aerial shots of Bristol and close-ups of the musicians has already been an enormous success. The eerie, echo-drenched b-side, 'Stealth' is an all-new, never heard before track. Paying homage to the classic Xterminator sound, with its heavy drums and transistor trickery, it's a driving, powerful tune.

Music On Vinyl

-> 180gr. audiophile vinyl
-> gatefold sleeve

The double live album Dark Magus was recorded on March
30, 1974, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Davis' group at the time included bassist Michael Henderson, drummer Al Foster, percussionist James Mtume, saxophonist Dave Liebman, and guitarists Pete Cosey and Reggie Lucas. Dark Magus was produced by Teo Macero and featured four two- part recordings titled after Swahili names for the numbers one through four.

Dark Magus was released after Davis' 1975 retirement. After releasing the live recordings Agharta (1975) and Pangaea (1976), Dark Magus was originally only released in Japan.

The album inspired noise Rock acts during the late 1970s and the experimental Funk artists of the 1980s. In retrospective reviews, critics praised its Jazz-Rock aesthetic and the group members' performances, and felt that parts of the music foreshadowed jungle music. In 2001, Q magazine named Dark Magus one of the 50 Heaviest Albums of All Time.

The Scott Three - Running Wild / Gotta Find A New Love
  • A1: Running Wild
  • B1: Gotta Find A New Love

The Scott Three was a vocal group consisting of three brothers, the eldest being Randolph followed by Michael and finally the baby of the family, Zachary. The three sons had been born to their late parents Louis and Alma Scott while living in their native Detroit Michigan. In 1965 the Scott family relocated to Atlanta Georgia setting up home in the College Park district of the city.
It was following their arrival in Atlanta that Randolph organized his brothers into the family vocal trio known as The Scott Three. In early 1968, The Scott Three during one of their stage shows came to the attention of a local Atlanta record producer, Thomas 'Tee' Fletcher. Randolph was looking to record a song he had recently composed entitled 'Running Wild (Ain't Gonna Help You)' with the original idea of just using the instrumental version on the b-side. Tee offered Randolph as an alternative a song that he and James McDuffie had composed entitled 'Gotta Find A New Love'. So in March of 1968 The Scott Three now aged 16, 15 and 10 respectively recorded their solitary 45 release 'Running Wild (Ain't Gonna Help You)/ Gotta Find A New Love' (MRS 1101) this being the reason 'March' was chosen for their labels name. The session recorded under the tutelage of Tee Fletcher was held at the Southside Sound Studio using musicians James Duffie, Ray Ranson and Reggie Harger with both of the later becoming part of the rhythm section for the hit group 'Brick'. The lead vocals on both tracks were performed by Randolph Scott. The release of the record did enhance the popularity of The Scott Three earning them regular bookings throughout the state of Georgia. Now forty plus years later The Scott Three have discovered a new found popularity in Europe with the quirky groove of their 'Running Wild' finding favour with the aficionados of the rare funk and soul scene. While the flipside the beautifully lilting 'Gotta Find A New Love' is also gaining a growing reputation.
Sadly Zachary Scott didn't get to hear of this new found popularity of their songs having passed away in 1995. With Michael Scott too recently losing his life in a tragic hit and run accident in September of 2015. The remaining brother Randolph has continued the musical family tradition of The Scott Three mentoring his two daughters LaTocha and Tamika Scott who performed as part of the 1990's R&B group 'Xscape' (who scored with three consecutive platinum albums) and are currently pursuing their own solo careers. Randolph now a retired law enforcement officer, who became an ordained pastor back in 1995, later founded The Christ Miracle Temple in Union City. He now spends his time teaching Martial Arts and Firearms Practice, while pursuing a career in Gospel music.
