1994 was a quiet year for Neil Young, who didn't tour to promote his Sleeps With Angels album, choosing to play a few benefits instead. Farm Aid, bringing relief to stricken farmers and their families, had long been a cause close to his heart, and the performance captured here turned out to be his most prominent date of the year. Reunited with his longtime collaborators Crazy Horse, he turned in an incendiary set that was recorded for FM broadcast. It's presented here together with background notes and images.

Nino Rota is the Italian composer responsible for the well known film scores for The Godfather series (MOVATM036), though the breadth of his work extends to opera, ballet and concertos. He was born into a musical family and studied in Italy before moving to America in the early 1930s. By the 40s he was writing film scores and soon developed a long standing creative partnership with the respected and influential film director Frederico Fellini.

Fellini made Il Bidone (also known as The Swindle or The Swindlers) in 1955. Released one year after the director's internationally successful La Strada, Il Bidone continues with many of the same socially conscious, neorealist- inspired themes while minimizing the poetic realism and extravagant vitality, that is today known as "felliniesque", in favor of a more pointed political stance.

The film follows the exploits of a group of swindlers, focusing on their aging leader Augusto, as they go about their "business," reaping both rewards and consequences.

"Acoustic Spaces" is the title of Gabriele Bellini's latest album. Almost completely acoustic - classic guitar is its main instrument - and devoid of lyrics, this record includes anyway one track achieved together with the artists of JMP (jam movie project), Claire Biant Nesti (soprano) and Michel Agostini (drums and percussions). 10 new songs, totally written, composed, recorded and mixed in the time frame of one single month inside the magic climate of "la Fucina Studio", with the support of Giacomo "Jac" Salani's skillful and unique directing competences. Compared to all the previous outputs, it has been an unusual working way: the outcome of a real "carpe diem", the complete seizure of a great inspirational moment, which place's charm acted as a first role, making real this bizarre, odd and inventive musical context.

" LA RUOTA DEL DESTINO " is the debut album of the Opera, is the goal of a long musical journey and the human started way back in March 2008. The project is the brainchild of Deborah, voice and author of all the texts and all the vocal melodies, and his meeting with Nicko, drummer with many years of live experience behind. Already in its initial formation, the band consists intense and emotional songs gathering a consensus growing during the first live performances. The whole recording project, the rediscovery of an atypical artist like Ivan Cattaneo, is ready. The same Cattaneo has more artistic identity: painter, poet, one man show ... but with this project, some colleagues known, established and emerging, have ventured to reinterpret his pen of author, bringing to light its first decade by songwriter, when Cattaneo realized discs and songs, under the guidance of the great Nanni Ricordi, inventor of the songwriters, musicians such as PFM, Roberto Colombo, Tony Mimms. Instruments is an acoustic project by internationally celebrated producer/performer/composer Henrik Schwarz. His intense laptop performances in major clubs and at the largest international music festivals in Japan, USA, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America catapulted Schwarz into the Top Ten League of electronic music performers.

The classical arrangements on Instruments are created by Johannes Brecht as a fully acoustic listening experience of Schwarz's chart topping melodic compositions. Since the release of Solo Piano II, Chilly Gonzales composed the best-selling book of easy piano pieces Re-Introduction Etudes, produced and released Octave Minds, the piano-meets-electronica album with Boys Noize and, most importantly, devoted himself to finding a modern take on chamber music. The result is "Chambers", an album for piano and string quartet (and a few surprises along the way). Inspired by a great passion for Astor Piazzolla's tango, The Soul Of The Tango is a critically acclaimed and essential work of the "Nuevo Tango", played by Yo-Yo Ma's world famous cello and many of Piazzolla's former friends and colleagues.

Piazzolla's old guitarists Sergio and Odair Assad even showed up to work on a pair of tracks arranged by Sergio: the "Tango Suite" (consisting of "Andante" and "Allegro"). The sheer beauty of one of Piazzolla's tangos is generally enough to warrant the purchase of an album involving these two. An album such as this one, where all of the songs are compositions by Piazzolla is even better. Add to this the masterful playing of Ma, and the surprising facility in which the cello fits into the tango, and you've got what is a classic album.

The album begins with "Libertango', a composition from Piazzolla's first album that became the theme song for the movie The Tango Lesson. Following is the pair of tracks in the "Tango Suite" from Sergio Assad. Then comes "Sur: Regreso al Amor', a softer work, though with some definite virtuosity displayed. "Le Grand Tango" is an eleven minute tour de force in the tango. "Tango Remembrances" is a particularly nice work, due to the appearance of Piazzolla's own playing. "Milonga del Angel" is a seemingly sentimental work that shows off Piazzolla's ability to express the emotions of a song perfectly and purely. To finish the album, Ma presents "Cafe
1930", a rather slow paced work, but again, as in the previous song, expresses emotion very fully in its nostalgia.

Overall, the album is a stunning work of art, and even those that may not have heard of Piazzolla could easily be lured to his music via this single album.

Following their debut EP with 'Ezra Was Right' and support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Grandbrothers are presenting their debut album 'Dilation". Twelve modern Experimental / Ambient / Piano pieces, whose sounds are generated completely out of a grand piano using small electromagnetic hammers. Grandbrothers are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. After meeting at university in Dusseldorf, Erol and Lukas formed Grandbrothers to tie together their respective musical backgrounds and disciplines: Erol is a trained jazz pianist, while by day Lukas constructs synthesizers at Access Music. Together, they create a sound that combines classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design. Their first song, 'Ezra Was Right', earned an early supporter in the esteemed Gilles Peterson, who included the track on his Bubblers 10 compilation and played it numerous times on his Worldwide radio show for BBC Radio 6 Music, with the song eventually being voted #7 by listeners in his end-of-year poll in 2013. A full EP on FILM followed - backed by remixes from legendary Manchester DJ Greg Wilson, Optimo's JD Twitch, and Kim Brown - which sold out its initial run within ten days. Now, Grandbrothers present their debut album, Dilation. The product of two years work, Dilation builds on some of the ideas established on 'Ezra Was Right' while exploring further elements of minimalism, ambient music, IDM, and techno.

The Grateful Dead's long strange trip reaches an important mile marker this year with the celebration of the band's 50th anniversary. 2015 is already shaping up to be an epic year thanks to news of the original members reuniting for three final shows this July. A documentary about the Grateful Dead from award-winning filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev and executive producer Martin Scorsese has also been announced.

Factory Benelux presents a deluxe double disc edition of Always Now, the debut album by cult Factory Records group Section 25, produced by legendary sonic architect Martin Hannett in 1981.
This new Factory Benelux 2xCD edition is housed in a miniature version of the folding pochette wallet designed by Peter Saville - famously one of the most expensive sleeves produced by Factory.
Recorded as a trio at Pink Floyd's Britannia Row studio in London, Always Now combined austere post-punk rhythms with elements of Can, Krautrock and modern psychedelia. Disc 2 offers a wealth of fascinating extra tracks, all previously unreleased. These include a John Peel session from January 1981, a complete live show professionally recorded at Groningen (Netherlands) in October 1980, and alternate versions of several album tracks newly re-mastered from the original quarter-inch tapes.

The wind-dried skeins of their blasted guitar harmonics and skimped electronics gauntly cling to the songs' skeletal frames. With telltale titles like Babies in the Bardo their Buddhist interests hang heavy over these early stirrings.
