Second up from December's brace of monstrously good new 45s from Polytechnic Youth, comes a new single from The Home Current. Previous releases on the label have sold out in a heartbeat and this one is another beauty.

The Home Current is the project of Dane, Martin Jensen, previously based in London now recording from his new base in Luxembourg. He co-founded the 'Second Language' label in 2009 and co ran it until 2014. He has been a DJ since the mid 1980s and was the brains behind the great Music and Migration' trilogy compilation series in support of BirdLife International.

That Summer' is a beautifully punchy, percussive slice of electronica- a real slow burner that is best whacked out with volume hiked up and complements the more stripped down, yet equally melodic flip Gelb' which Martin himself says is inspired by his deep love of the work of Yellow Magic Orchestra'.

Another fabulous PY 45 which like every release on the label is destined to sell out super quick. 2017 sees releases from Pye Corner Audio, Polypores, Faten Kanaan, The Listening Center and tons more. A hand numbered pressing of 250 copies on vinyl only with tasty sleeve art....

Hailing from Glasgow's south side comes a killer, new musical project which combines motorik rhythms with an electro pop sensibility and a DIY aesthetic. All aspects of course appealing hugely to London's Polytechnic Youth label. So of course this one became a no-brainer when it came to releasing this mighty debut 45.

Merging homemade sounds and dreamscape visuals with a kaleidoscopic krautrock intensity, Tomorrow Syndicate combine VHS era sci-fi innocence with the very real paranoia of the post-truth world.

Formed over the last 6 months, the band have a killer stash of tunes ready to unleash shortly, but for now it's these two gems we have to chew on and neither disappoints, both attaining huge amounts of interest in blog and social media world and the 45 is released in a numbered pressing of 250 just in time for Christmas.

Das 15te Erasure-Studio-Album ist ganz dem Weihnachtsfest gewidmet. Neben Coverversionen von Klassikern wie "Heilige Nacht" und "White Christmas" sind auch mehrere Eigenkompositionen wie "Make It Wonderful" oder "There'll Be No Tomorrow" enthalten, die natürlich auch ganz dem Geist der Jahreszeit verpflichtet sind. AV1 builds a bridge between electro pop and club culture. The LP leads off with Friday Night in my Room, somewhere between a jazz-house piano and a playful and stubborn electro, in an extended club version, followed by a hypnotic deep house remix from Garance (Ayeko), soaked with exotic percussions. On the B side, Christian Stark (The Cruzaders / Los Cruzeiros) offers a deep sensual anthem with his "Flowers" remix and Se-Te-Ve (Plak/Gravitation) takes "You In The Dark" into his tribal house radicalism.

Hector Plimmer's release is electronica/hip hop. A-side has psyche pop and afrobeat influences, b-side is weird afrobeat influenced electronica. It's been getting good play from Gilles Peterson, Nemone, Tom Ravenscroft and Huey Morgan on BBC 6Music, plus plenty other non BBC plays. Plus, side B, Kalimba was premiered on The Ransom Note. Hector burst onto the scene in 2014 with an appearance on Gilles Peterson's 'Brownswood Bubblers' Vol 11, alongside beatsmith Al Dobson Jr, jazz luminaries GoGo Penguin, and the ever soulful Moonchild. He went on to win the PRS Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award, firmly cementing himself on the 'ones to watch' list.

* The crossover between electronic music and classical composition has never been in more vibrant and dynamic health. Multifarious musician Emika explores this fertile ground on her ambitious new opus 'Melanfonie': her first orchestral composition, some four years in the making.

KDMS, the duo made up of London singer/songwriter Kathy Diamond and Silesian producer Max Skiba, return with a brilliant sophomore album of club anthems and torch songs, synthetic beats and live instruments. "The New Old Normal", out 9th December, follows their debut album "Kinky Dramas & Magic Stories" on Gomma.

On "The New Old Normal" Max Skiba (who follows last year's massive "Shanghouse" on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal imprint) presents his most mature and developed tunes, whist UK artist Kathy Diamond's vocals (known for her work with Maurice Fulton on Permanent Vacation records) reference the late 70s disco icon, adding charm and emotion throughout. Despite the album's overall pop sensibility, this is a set of eleven intricate tracks, touching upon multiple genres and quite often blending them all together: from breezy yacht rock, Paisley Park funk, Hall & Oates' blue-eyed soul to Kompakt-style house music. It's T-Rex glam and disco glitter, complemented with a techno cover of Kate Bush' "Babooshka".

On "The New Old Normal", Max and Kathy are accompanied by several high-profile guests, including the unmistakable Kurt Maloo of Double. Cover art comes courtesy of Filip Pagowski, the international graphic designer known for his work with Comme De Garcons and most recently for his artwork for Drake. Combining hypnotic rhythms with addictive pop melodies that carry clever lyrics - "The New Old Normal" is a rare achievement in today's formulaic world of club-inspired pop music.

Als Die Antwoord vor rund zwei Jahren an den Arbeiten zum neuen Album begannen, war die Grundstimmung des Materials noch sehr roh, düster und tough. Die Band wollte das Album "Rats Rule" nennen, denn im Leben gäbe es nur Gewinner und Underdogs. Und für Die Antwoord fühle es sich so an, als seien sie noch ein Level unterhalb der Underdogs zu Hause "in this fucked up pop world". Aber die Südafrikaner seien sich sicher, dass ihre Zeit noch kommen werde. "And soon we gonna take over this whole bitch", so Ninja und Yo-Landi.Daraufhin schrieben Die Antwoord weitere Songs. Der Kern des Albums blieb düster und "ratty", aber die Band konnte eine neue Ebene hinzufügen. Eine Ebene, die eher wahnwitzig, sexy und sehr spaßig wirkte. Also wollten Die Antwoord das neue Werk in "We Have Candy" umbenennen. Dann, beim letzten Feinschliff, kam eine weitere Ebene hinzu: "A giant supernatural mega aura". Und plötzlich kam ihnen ihr neues Werk so episch vor. Manchmal verletzlich, manchmal süß und romantisch, mutig und voller Rätsel. Schließlich sagte Yo-Landi: "Why don't we call the album 'Mount Ninji And Da Nice Time Kid". Der Legende nach antwortete Ninja lediglich mit einem, "you a fuckin' genius! I love you!".

The idea to evoke a deep journey in the Amazon rainforest has affected various musicians in the history of popular and experimental music, but comparing to other works this rare Amazonia 6891, released only on cassette in 1986, appears as totally original and extreme in his conception. Here, the interest in ethnomusicology of the expert Walter Maioli (mind of Aktuala and Futuro Antico projects) is linked to a precise and comprehensive ecological, botanical, ethological and ethnographic perspective. In fact, starting from the sound recording of the ethnographer Pit Piccinelli's collection of natural objects, the collected material for this work is re-elaborate in different times by the anthropologist and electronic pioneer Fred Gales and by Maioli him-self.
The result of this multi-disciplinary approach its 'a long concrete poem of plant organisms, fields recordings of verses and calls of tropical animals futuristically mixed with electronic sounds, as already happened for the great experimental trials of Futuro Antico and Ariel Kalma's Osmose. Listen this imaginative collage look like to entering in a precious cabinet of antiquities and curiosity whose wonders of multi-coloured cellular fragments are shaped in the synthesis of a single universal sound matter. The merger between the wild jungle, the mysterious voices of the Indians and the oscillation of the electronic waves creates a spasmodic tension between amazing and heavenly moments that leaked also obscure paths and alien sequences.
So, Amazonia 6891 it's a magic trip into the unknown wild, into abyss of creation of kaleidoscopic floras and faunas, simply a proposal for a synesthetic experience and multi-sensory.

Petrels returns with a thunderous new album, Flailing Tomb. Taking the exhilaratingly huge sonic expanse that Petrels has become known for and pushing it further still, Flailing Tomb draws on a breathtaking sonic palette of influences and instrumentation to craft perhaps the strongest Petrels release to date. Flailing Tomb's underlying theme is a many-layered obsession with - and joyous celebration of - the defiance in persisting with lost causes. Building on the mythological foundations of previous albums - Haeligewielle, Onkalo and Mima - Flailing Tomb takes an underlying current that ran beneath each of these and pushes it to the fore. Flailing Tomb draws inspiration from sources as wide-ranging as Ursula K. The album invites the listener to action ('Realise Realise'), questions our relationship to the world ('A Good Night Sleep'), celebrates freedom and escape ('Time To Get Alone') but also acknowledges the difficulty of changing ('Marcher La Nuit'). Two instrumental tracks and one cover are at the heart of the record: 'Jóia' and 'Joya' are balearic soundtracks directly inspired by library music records. 'The Country Song' is an adaptation of 'Let's Move To The Country' by singer- songwriter Bill Callahan.Mixed mainly by producer Charlie Alex March (NZCA/Lines and Veronica Falls) and their long time friend Emmanuel Mario (Astrobal, Julien Gasc). 'The Drifters' will be released on the WONDERFULSOUND label, whose chief Miles Copeland recalls how they first met:"Many years ago Matthieu and Marie cheerfully came up to me after a gig I was playing in south London with my band The Superimposers. They had emailed me out of the blue one year earlier with a remix of one of our songs. They did it without stems and without our permission and I loved it! So I released it. When they moved from Bordeaux to London we built up a true friendship, so when I heard their album 'The Drifters' I knew it had to come out on Wonderfulsound."

Ashley Bellouin's work explores the merging of sound art, electro-acoustic composition, and instrument building. She focuses on the studies of sonology, psychoacoustics, and the interaction between sound and architecture. Her compositions emphasize and exploit the sonic potential contained within a single musical gesture, regularly using electronics to develop latent qualities.



Each track unfolds into an intricate auditory journey, suggesting subtle alterations to the perception of linear time. As the pieces progress, select tones emerge and transform the sound by revealing hidden overtones. The negative spaces between closely paired pitches alter and create complex tonal structures and shifting rhythmic patterns.



Bellouin composed, performed, recorded, and mixed the album between the period of 2012 and 2015 with Ben Bracken and Teddy Rankin-Parker joining on electric guitar and cello, respectively. "Hummen" features Bellouin's hand built glass armonica, custom electronics, harmonium, electric guitar, and aluminum rods. "Bourdon" features the Sequential Prophet 6 (which Bellouin was involved in making while working at Dave Smith Instruments), custom electronics, harmonium, cello, and electric guitar.

Israeli born artists Tamir Muskat, Ori Kaplan, Tomer Yosef met in Brooklyn's underground in the mid-2000s and ignited the world with the outspoken formidable

live act Balkan Beat Box.



Combining Eastern European styles with dancehall, reggae, exotic brass, earth shattering bass and experimental electronics. The 5th album Shout It Out, recorded in their second studio Vibromonk East Tel Avivi's another evolution with new influences from ghettotech, bluegrass, hip hop and pop.



Balkan Beat Box has collaborated with producers such as Stargate, FrankE and Diplo on the the following tracks: Fifth Harmony's Worth It, Mac Miller's Goosebumpz, Ylvis' Mr Toot. And their song Hermetico was sampled by Jason Derulo's Talk

May 2014, arriving home after hearing the Café Oto performance now released as Amalgam, I began to write. Over time the text developed, augmented by relevant dreams, literature and boxing metaphors, to become integrated into my book, Into the Maelstrom. This is an extract from that passage:



"In the grey time of the gig, the drift away time, smell of room time, the time when magical implements and instruments are compressed into their road-sick cases, I watched from an eye corner as the tall man persuaded Christian Marclay to hand over a shard of plastic, placed the black dagger in his bag, then headed home. This savage triangle I recognised as debris... one of many during a duo with cellist Okkyung Lee in which their streams of interpenetrated sounds felt as volatile as live power cables, lightning strikes, snake bites, roaring bears, the finessed husbandry of potentially catastrophic rock falls. Close in to a microphone, he was scratching a record with his fingernails, as if the evolutionary function of nails was as a polystylus designed to scrape music out of any surface: rocks, tree bark, elephant skin, the mist surrounding a waterfall, the bald head of an old person..."



Listening now to the recording, more than two years later in a totally different environment is a markedly different experience, yet the intensity that made the concert so remarkable remains palpable. - David Toop, September 2016

Dublin born A/V duo CLU release four track 'Mood' EP, set for release through Gobstopper Records on 18th November 2016. Dublin born musician Sean Cooley and visual artist Kevin Freeney formed CLU in 2011 as a way to play music and showcase artwork simultaneously to their friends in venues and galleries across the city. Growing up in the 1990s, they witnessed the birth of mass produced 3D computer animations and the conceptual god complexes that came with the Internet. These two very apparent influences made them immerse themselves in the ever intertwining mediums of sound and vision, giving CLU a very unique approach to their live AV shows. Influences of trance, R&B, videogame and film scores, grime and industrial permeate Cooley's productions, which bubble with multitudes of synths and maintain a focus on bass driven twists. Visually, Freeney engages in a surrealist depth that skips on the brink between digital film and generative animations. This connection between the two forms a symbiotic chemistry that aims to bridge the gap between the white cubed galleries of visual art and the dark basements of electronic music to create soaring galactic oddities.

Ghost are back with the fourth album to celebrate their 10-years career "The Meaning Of Life." The album includes 2 featuring with very important Italian pop artists, in addition to the collaborations with famous names in autorale level: Giuseppe Anastasi, Giuseppe Barbera, Amara, Salvatore Mineo, Vizzini Lorenzo. The first single "Still Have A Life" is a beautiful song a duet with Ornella Vanoni, on radio on October 7. The album contains another song with the feat of Enrico Ruggeri.

Trouble' is the new single from new North London trio Girl Ray. It's the first Girl Ray song to be given a physical release, coming out on a 7' through Moshi Moshi Singles Club on 25th November.
The song is about apathy and hating yourself for trying to win pointless arguments in snakey ways,' say the band. It's about turning into someone you don't like.'
Girl Ray are Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss. They deal in fuzzy Moldy Peaches-esque pop gems, shaping a love of off-kilter pop bands like Neutral Milk Hotel, Pavement and Cate Le Bon into a sound that feels instantly familiar and completely lovable. An endearing presence, full of promise.
While studying for their A-Levels, Poppy, Iris and Sophie self-released their first track, "I'll Make This Fun" which was picked up by Brooklyn Vegan, The Line of Best Fit and DIY (among others). BBC Radio 6 Music made it their Track of The Week, and the band were invited to Manchester for a live session with Marc Riley.

Since their inception they've been invited to support the likes of Lets Eat Grandma, Slow Club, Haley Bonar, Fear of Men, Chastity Belt and Meilyr Jones, as well earning slots at the Green Man, Swn and By The Sea festivals.
The band are currently working on their debut album which is slated for a Spring 2017 release. 'Trouble' is Girl Ray's first physical release and comes with a new b-side, 'Where Am I Now,' via Moshi Singles Club on 25th November 2016.
