Los Angeles-based duo LUCKY +LOVE have announced they will release their debut album 'Lucky + Love' on June 30. The lead single is 'Digging in the Earth', the video for which was directed and edited by cinemaphotographer and animator Steve Barron.
These 8 electrified tracks were written when bandmates Loren Luck (drums, synths) and April Love (vocals, keyboards, guitar) were living next to a noisy construction site in Glendale, California. Here they successfully incorporate synth-heavy bass with polyphonic harmonies and crystalline vocals, propelling the music into trance-inducing territory.Inspired by artists such as New Order, OMD, Depeche Mode, Washed Out, Tycho, and Cocteau Twins, their sound falls beautifully into an everyman's land between electro rock, dream pop, electronica and synth gaze. This music has, in the words of Loren Luck, 'lots of LFO, riveting arpeggiations, simultaneous solos via spacey square waves, with April's smoky vocals'. This record is an electronic music record, but comes from a more traditional place, where OMD or Kraftwerk came from - one of an unsampled, unprogrammed live recording originally at 192kHz/24-bit quality.'Musically, as much attention was paid sonically to the organic moog instruments as April's voice, and we offered the analog synths space in the songs to breathe to their true dynamic potential,' says Loren Luck.This album came to light through recordings at Eagle Rock's Cave Studio with Josiah Mazzaschi (Light FM), sessions with sound editor Morgen Stary, and Comp-ny Studio with Grammy winner Be Hussey (Guides). The vinyl release was mastered by Kevin Gray, who most recently engineered the reissue of Vangelis' Blade Runner.LUCKYandLOVE currently write and record in their music studio in Echo Park, California. The band is looking forward to recording new tracks with producer John Fryer (This Mortal Coil, Nine Inch Nails, Cocteau Twins, Love and Rockets, His Name is Alive) with plans to drop more singles later in 2017.

Midnight Dicers are a trio from Tel-Aviv. They comprise of Sabo aka Obas Nenor (Mahogani Music / Strictly Rhythm), Ariel Klachkin and Eliezer Perez. They are a steady fixture in the city's nightlife, as DJ's and owners of underground clubs/bars. The collaboration with Samy Birnbach aka Dj Morpheus came naturally as they are longtime fans of his work with Minimal Compact the legendary group from the 80´s and as Dj Morpheus A&R & Compiler (Freezone series) for SSR/Crammed Discs in Brussels and his weekly Radio show the Lysergic Factory. Also featuring on the track is berry sakharof, one of minimal compact's guitarist. Icing on the cake comes in form of a dub version plus remixes from Smagghe & Cross and head honcho Prins Thomas

For a short period in 1981 and with brand-new equipment such as Roland 808, SH 101, GR 500, we made some 8-track "just for fun" jam tapes. Mainly just to experiment for our own pleasure. From those sessions, only "White Horse" made it to a final treatment. The rest of the material was left behind, as our record company at the time found it too "different".

David Okumu is best known as the frontman for The Invisible, but when he's not leading the band he can be found lending his vocal, instrumental and production talents to a host of projects. Here he lends a deft touch to the album's closer 'Sincerely', with a sound that combines modern electronica production with emotive synth lines and a light touch of '80s funk. Sturm & Drang is a new studio venture from dOP's own Damien Vandesande and Fabien Leseure, specially formed for this remix of 'Gone Are Those Days'. Working around a tight house groove, the duo lay down warm analogue synth tones underneath Dani's vocals and build up a sizzling club track that maintains the spirit of the original. British outfit Party Nails, affiliated to The 2 Bears and God Colony amongst other projects, take to 'Dragons' with a sense of urgency that turns the track into a taut, peak time workout loaded with tension. Dani's impassioned delivery sits atop the insistent drums and weighty bass as a foil to the hard edges of the production, making for an emotive result that harkens back to house classics. Circus Company's prolific soul maverick Dave Aju steps up to round the record out with a typically flamboyant version of 'Gone Are Those Days' that reflects his own exploration of tougher machine-powered rhythms of late.

Rachel Rutt comes from a career as a model in both the Australian and international fashion industry, alongside a visual arts practice, pursuing textile as a craft. This led to collaborations with acclaimed ethical fashion brands such as Tome NYC and Wool and the Gang, evolving into documentation, combining film, music, and costume in a visual exploration. With her work with Ryan these mediums have come together once again to visually support the world of Heart People.

An album about being in love with pure solitude, when STILL // ALONE is separated into two distinct sides, record one, STILL, is a hypnotic meditation for the nightclub. Wavy patterns of sound and light bounce off of Penelope's literary vocal bursts, layered over the ominous deep synths and arpeggiators, held together only by a strict 4/4 beat. The rhythm, ironically forcing the body to move, however internally focused and mindful, still.
Record two, ALONE, takes the club offline and into the fringes of raw, odd pop.

Adballons (made-up word from 'advertising balloon') was a duo formed in Tokyo and active only between 1986-88. Equipped with some gear (Casio CZ-5000, Teisco S-110F, Roland MC-202, Roland TR-909, Korg KPR-77) and influenced by the music of D.A.F, Kosmonautentraum, Tommi Stumpff, Propaganda, The Flowerpot Men, Cassandra Complex, This Heat, The Pop Group, SPK and Laibach, they released just one 7' in 1987 and played some shows in local clubs before disappear and become part of the obscure and inscrutable Japanese underground scene.

Limited to 270 copies on 10' vinyl including all four tracks the band recorded in studio. Everything remastered from the original reel-to-reel tape. Each copy comes with a OBI strip, an insert with some photos/lyrics/info and a numbered card.

Don't wanna move to Southern California / I wasn't really meant for LA...' So sang Dent May once upon a time, now he's eating those words with a side of avocado toast in his new Los Angeles bungalow. What made the lifelong Mississippi boy pull up stakes and head west No one looks at you funny if you wear a tuxedo to the supermarket.' What he means is he moved there to shake up his surroundings, clear his head, and write the most accomplished record of his young career, the magical mystery tour de force Across the Multiverse.

Following the lead of musical-polymaths-with-LA-ties before him like Brian Wilson, Van Dyke Parks, and Harry Nilsson, Dent's style on Across the Multiverse will be familiar to fans of his previous work. Yet there's something more refined about this collection... Stately strings mingle with boogie piano like old friends. Synths weave a celestial backdrop throughout. Every verse, bridge and chorus in its right place, giving it the unmistakable feel of a true songwriting craftsman at work. Lyrically Dent has never been sharper, musing on themes like modern romance ( Picture on a Screen', Face Down in the Gutter of Your Love'), existential dread ( Dream 4 Me', I'm Gonna Live Forever Until I'm Dead'), and the distance to the moon ( Distance to the Moon') as he searches for meaning among the infinite scrolling feeds of our 21st century augmented reality. The title track, a duet with Frankie Cosmos, is a deep space love song about finding love beyond impossible boundaries.

Across the Multiverse was written and recorded in a sunny bedroom in LA's Highland Park neighborhood, with Dent producing and playing nearly every instrument himself. The tracks were selected from dozens of songs written after the LA move, a gold rush of productivity inspired by late nights DJing rare disco funk cuts at local watering holes. It's his first record for new label Carpark and will be released August 18th.

Dent May is a self-described hotel bar lounge singer and aspiring daytime TV talk show host - has been charming his way into the hearts of music fans since the release of his debut album The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele on Animal Collective's Paw Tracks label in 2009. The Mississippi-born, Los Angeles-based songwriter, performer, and Dolly Parton enthusiast has since released two more acclaimed records, Do Things (2012) and Warm Blanket (2013), dropped the holiday smash I'll Be Stoned For Christmas', and played hundreds of shows from Shanghai to Chicago. His latest album, Across the Multiverse, is an interstellar voyage of mythic proportions.

My dreams had become my reality, yet I was somehow unable to accept this new environment. I couldn't help but fall into what might be described as an identity crisis. A feedback loop of fearful thoughts left me feeling confused. I felt as though I no longer knew what it was that I actually wanted and needed in and out of life, and at times I felt unable to even tell what was real.

During this time of personal turmoil, I turned to music as a form of therapy, and it helped me cope with the pain that I was feeling. I'd listen to the same ambient song over and over again, trying to insulate myself from reality. I fell in love with space again.

By the time I felt ready to begin working on a new record, I knew that this idea of space within music would be something that propelled my new work forward. The artists that were influencing what I was making included everyone from Travis Scott to Daft Punk, Frank Ocean to Oneohtrix Point Never, Kashif and Gigi Masin. I recognized that the common thread between these artists was their attention to a feeling of space, or lack thereof. I decided that I wanted to make a Pop record with these ideas in mind. That idea for a record is what eventually became Boo Boo.'

Berlin-based musician and mass collaborator, Jeff Özdemir, is back with a new double vinyl and this time he's gone for gold. With cinematographic soundscapes, thick bass lines, tangible percussion, eerie keys and charming vocals, this synergetic masterpiece treads the boundaries between jazz, Gameboy sounds, chanson, psychedelic desert, soul, minimal, seventies pop, dub, electronic and classical music with a hint of a John Carpenter-esque style to boot.

Rooted in the past but spanning to the future, Jeff Özdemir & Friends vol. 2 refuses to be pigeon-holed into any one decade or genre, transcending these categories without destroying them. Through deep experimentation, Turkish-born multi-instrumentalist Özdemir and his circle of friends have managed to create their own unique sound whilst remaining changeable and varied. Much like the collaborators of the project itself, each song has its own personality drawing from the various corners of the musical universe and joining together to create a new world. The tracks oscillate between Özdemir's solo-work, to dual collaborations, to group projects and include names such as F.S. Blumm, Andrew Pekler, Halloumi Express, Sonja Polligkeit, Benjamin Wild and Dizzy from Rotation.

Drawing from their creators diverse backgrounds the songs incorporate multi-cultural, multi-linguistic elements including French, Japanese, Turkish and Portuguese. Despite its wide scope this double-vinyl - also available as a CD and mp3 download - and its catchy, lingering melodies is both cerebral and accessible. Jeff Özdemir & Friends vol. 2 gives you an insight into Özdemir's world which he centres around his record store, 33rpm Store, in the heart of Berlin Kreuzberg. It is through this hub that he and his friends join together to discuss, listen to and, of course, make music. Her debut album, Off The Radar, will be released on May 5th via City Slang worldwide, and today she goes straight for the jugular with the video to the fearlessly controversial new single, Pity'.

"The song Pity' was influenced by a sexual assault case that happened a few years ago' she explains. What made it even more alarming and upsetting for me was the fact that it was documented by several different people who were there when it happened. People stood by and willingly chose to film on their smartphones and then upload the videos and share them online. The presence of cameras and the violation of the victim's rights and respect was completely disregarded beyond measure.

This is the second time we had a chance to work on a video with talented directors 'Zhang + Knight'. For them, as for us, the horrifying story was extremely powerful and chilling. We decided to focus on the video/documenting angle, isolating it from the rest of the story. Creating a performance based video, shooting me from many different camera angles, while playing the footage live on screens behind me. Displaying how quickly and easily video documentation becomes shared, publicised and distorted. Many times, without the person's knowledge, consent and without accountability.'

For Noga Erez, there was never any doubt that, whatever music she chose to make, and whatever she felt about her homeland, she could never ignore her surroundings. After all, even escapism acknowledges there's something to escape from, and at times - like many who've grown up in Tel Aviv - Erez has wanted to shut herself off from a world rendered beyond comprehension by forces beyond her control. But if there's one thing Erez isn't - and sometimes it's easier to say what artists as complex and fresh as her aren't than are - it's naïve. And what this means is simple: her work reflects the manner in which she's learned to live. As she puts it, I have this idea of giving people moments of thought and inspiration, and at the same time offering escapism and fun."

It's not the easiest of goals, but few succeed as well as Erez. While the music she makes in collaboration with her partner and co-writer, composer and producer Ori Rousso, exploits many of the more physical, dynamic elements of electronic music, it also embraces a cerebral sensitivity that's made her one of her home city's most exciting, idiosyncratic artists, as inspired by Björk, M.I.A. and fka Twigs as by Flying Lotus, Kendrick Lamar and Frank Ocean.

Erez was born four days before 1990, the year the Gulf War started, and it would be impossible for her now, as an artist, to ignore what's been going on around her all her life. Nonetheless, she admits that, for a while, she retreated from the highly politicised climate in which she was raised. As I became more aware of everything going on - the complexity of the situation, and how it affects lives on both sides - my reaction was to separate myself from it. I got rid of my TV and stopped consuming news completely.'

She found sanctuary in music, but withdrawal is rarely permanent, and if there's tension in Erez' work - and there's plenty, as it happens - then it's an acknowledgement of this simple truth. Most of the time it's easy just to ignore what's happening, but every now and then reality makes that impossible.' Erez is, however, thoroughly self-aware, and acknowledges how we are very lucky not to live near the borders, not to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, and to have shelters and technology protecting us. But with this sense of luck comes a sense of guilt for being able to do something like make music while lives are being taken.'

Fundamental is their magnificent Trevor Horn-produced album which made the top ten in 2006. As well as the remastered original album original track-listing, there's a 22-track Further listening' album of additional material including demos of unreleased songs such as 'Ring road', 'One-way street' and Dancing in the dusk', alongside previously-unreleased mixes and remixes.

'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' is the horrifically wry new album from The Bomber Jackets. Following on from 'Lister,' their debut for Alter, 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' has a restlessness that takes broader strokes. It finds and holds a register of meandering hope by setting the perverted detail of domestic minutiae against an acutely self-conscious melancholy that cynically daydreams its way into an awkward middle-ground between profundity and platitude.

Following the stop-start formation that plagued the group's early days, the three-piece of Russell Walker, Daniel Bolger, and Sian Dorrer remain intact. Both Walker and Bolger will be familiar from the ticklish post-punk of The Pheromoans, whilst Dorrer has a varied CV with groups such as Plug, and Ravioli Me Away, and with involvement across London DIY nodes.

At times they give it a bit of a desaturated garage bump, other times there's the throb of marching mono-synth wave. 'Deranged Sauce Mum' comes off as a chopped and screwed hardcore, though with Walker's vocals it's less gurning glee and more furrowed brow, it should be said. There are very many disparate elements across 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' that come to give the new album a kind of uneasy grace, which is perhaps the groups singular force, the unchaining of an ingenious familiarity that's dizzyingly bizarre and equally bleak.

Lyrically and musically their new album contains the traces of many surfaces both interior and exterior. Its dream-like qualities are formed through a kind of musical frottage, always preserving the trace of the hand, arriving at its surreal heights through fidgety non-sequiturs of an aesthetically acerbic persuasion. In this way it never quite replicates anything that you feel to be present in its parts. 'Kudos To The Bomber Jackets' indexes petty despondency for better days, imagining some unforeseen and unremarkable circumstance that makes up for it all.
