beim Suchen, Sammeln, Veröffentlichen und Auflegen von besonderer, rarer und unbedingt hörenswerter
Musik. Bei Damaged Goods handelt es sich dabei ganz konkret um unbekannte oder vergessene Postpunk
und Synth-Wave-Stücke aus dem deutschen Underground der frühen 80er, die mit gängigen und
überstrapazierten (schwarzen) Elektro-Klischees nichts gemein haben. Entsprechend finden sich auf der
Zusammenstellung nur Titel, die heute nicht mehr ohne Weiteres (auf Vinyl) erhältlich sind und noch keine
Wiederveröffentlichung erfahren haben bzw. deren wiederveröffentlichte Tonträger inzwischen ebenfalls
Raritäten sind. Die Nummern von unter anderem Silberstreif, Träneninvasion, Pension Stammheim, New
Dimension, Hoffnung & Psyche, Nullzeit, Alu, Schwellköper oder 08/15 wurden von Tom Morgenstern neu
gemastert, wodurch eine homogene Tonqualität der insgesamt 15 Songs erreicht wurde.

Marijuana Deathsquads Tuff Guy Electronics is the first new music that the Minneapolis centered collective has released since 2013. It simultaneously sounds like a heavily digitized ride on the motorik highway and a droll stroll

through the apocalypse, the kind of music only people with conceptual talent to burn (and an inherent desire to touch that flame) choose to envision.

Its a pop-avant-garde paean to the space between an abstract higher power and the creative open road full of primal groove and techno subtlety, but beholden to neither. If you claim Marijuana Deathsquads to be the Midwests

answer to Boredoms (or at least F*ck B*tt*ns), they probably wouldnt mind the compliment.

Miss Information is Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto, Smokey & Miho, Gorillaz, too many all-star Lower East Side collaborations to name).

Miho Hatori created Miss Information while in residence at Brooklyns contemporary arts gallery/creative hothouse, Pioneer Works. Miho began with a simple concept, What if information was a woman She had been

contemplating information not as dominating with ofthidden data-points, but something akin to the moon, a mysterious natural energy that, in her words, brings change to the planet.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's Starr was once an enigmatic figure in collector's circles. 'She's So Fine' has racked up over a million plays on YouTube, but copies of the 45 and 12' version almost never surface. The known discography was surprisingly sparse for an entity who delivered such an undeniably killer track. Surely there had to be more. Was Starr a studio concoction: the work of an enterprising producer and some hired help Perhaps Starr was sent from above to bless us earthlings with sublime electro-funk grooves to keep dance floors moving

The truth is, in his own words, that 'anyone can be a Starr!' Starr got his start as a young whiz kid playing in the internationally known Chill Fac-Torr. Despite overseas chart success and a contract with Philly World, the band never made it too far. Infighting and a lack of professional discipline among the band pushed Starr out of the group, and he set out on his own.

With killer musical chops, a great voice and an unmatched creative drive, Starr set out to follow in the footsteps of a fellow musical wunderkind from Minneapolis and create his own musical universe. The problem is, life got in the way. Starr recorded night and day, flexing his writing muscles in a number of different styles, working with other Pennsylvania artists to achieve their visions. He produced some very sparsely distributed cassettes and 45s for his own imprint, but he also had a family and bills to pay. The label took a backseat and his musical career was put on ice, but his desire to create never left him.

We are proud to present the first in our series of Starr releases, the classic 'She's So Fine' 12' mix on a handy 45. Remastered from the original reels, hear it like you've never heard it before. Sure to set the dance floor ablaze.

Starr's known output consists of a single release, the hyper in-demand 'She's So Fine' single, but this is only the first light in a constellation of recordings he made in the 1980s. Being the go-to guy for collaboration in Harrisburg offered him the best local talent. A young and soulful singer, the aptly named Fawn came into Starr's life, laid down a session or two and went back to the real world. Aside from an incredibly rare cassette-only compilation appearance, this is the first time her sweet and sultry voice makes an appearance on the world stage. Backed by Starr's stellar production, these tracks are truly lost gems, ready to shine for the first time on a lovingly remastered 45 straight from the original tapes.

Vercetti Technicolor's ficticious soundtrack to the 1972 Munich Massacre, is a bleak, cold and somber work. Partly inspired by the 1999 Documentary by Kevin Macdonald, Vercetti creates a tense and brooding approach to this, the most darkest of subject matter. This is far from dancefloor material, this is doom-electronics at it's most frightening. Giallo Disco is proud to present our first LP, Vercetti Technicolor's Black September, closer to minimal wave than moroder and all the better for it. On 26th October multi-instrumentalist/DJ Pete Cunningham and cohorts AKA Ishmael Ensemble, present 'Severn Songs 2' - the second in a 7' vinyl trilogy inspired by Bristol, its surrounding regions and, as the title suggests, the River Severn. 'Severn Songs 2' follows media praise, radio airplay and DJ support for 'Severn Songs 1' from the likes of Dan Snaith (Caribou), Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft, The Vinyl Factory and XLR8R. Prior to that, 2017 saw Ishmael Ensemble's first EP 'Songs for Knotty' released on Banoffee Pies, followed by a remix of Carl Craig's 'The Melody'

The 'Severn Songs' series marks the most full-bodied and ambitious project yet from Pete Cunningham, who prior to evolving into this varying collective of musicians recorded and released solo, as simply Ishmael. Promising beginnings under that initial guise saw releases on Wolf Music, West Friends and Church, alongside contemporaries Seb Wildblood, Medlar and Frits Wentink. 'Severn Songs 2' sees Cunningham slip into a nostalgic haze, throwing back to his formative years in Bristol's late noughties scene, but cast through a prism of jazzwise electronica; surely the furthest apple of influence to fall from the Hessle-Hotflush tree. 'Tunnels' begins with a flurry of drums before being enveloped by sub-bass pressure, like stepping directly into a basement club in full flow. As the track climaxes, saxophones sweep the air like green-spoked lasers overhead, creating a contrast of pinpoint clarity against the background atmosphere. Though sonically well outside Bristol's dubstep legacy, it accurately portrays the smudged perception of a peak time rave. On the flip, we find the more introverted 'First Light', wherein the group downshift from the buzz of a bustling room to the hum of one's head as dawn breaks. It's a moment of spacious solitude shared only, as Cunningham pictures it, with 'swans fighting over polystyrene chip boxes' in the canal below. Never one to miss a beat in either sense of the phrase, Cunningham has once again littered canny references to compliment the reverential music. The sleeve art captures birds through an obscured lens, nodding to the river Avon and overall milieu that inspired 'First Light'; and for native Bristolians especially, the A-side will evoke a fertile period, full of vital music, communal escapism, and the maze of basements and tunnels where it blossomed.

Overall, Pete's ability to thread this thematic needle gives a descriptive tenor to the group's wordless sound, elevating the music at once to something more personal and more resonant-and leaving soon-to-be-answered questions about where 'Severn Songs' will flow to next.

One of our most special releases to date, the official remixes of the Newcleus classic 'Jam On It' by two modern funk totems, Brian Ellis and Beath, and two electro totems, Alek Stark and DJ Overdose.

The first and the only album by Droids, Star Peace is a fascinating music exploration of the outer space conceived by the brilliant mind of one of the protagonists of the French disco scene, Yves Hayat. Star Peace came out - years ahead of its time - in 1979, and it's a magisterial blend of groovy, funky, and electrojazz sounds mixed with an old-school analogue touch. The album features among the gems, the space synth classic (Do You Have) The Force, and the album's killer piece, Tchoung Fou.

'GOTH-TRAD formed new unit 'EARTAKER' with Diesuck(vocal) and Masayuki Imanishi(noise) in 2017. Their doomful & dissonant sound with Diesuck's low scream feels like music that can be heard from the gap between end of the world and the new world. It is hard to categorise to any genre. This is the unit's first LP.'

Founded in 2014, Amnesia Scanner's approach is informed by a unique perspective on technology and the way it mediates contemporary experience. System vulnerabilities,
information overload and sensory excess inform their work, which has found a home in both clubs and galleries.
Building on their mixtape 'AS Live' Amnesia Scanner's critically acclaimed audio play 'Angels Rig Hook' (2015) laced a potpourri of dancefloor tactics with a machinic narrator.
Their dual EPs for Young Turks, 'AS' and 'AS Truth' (2016), distilled this immersive environment into an abrasive collection of cryptorave tools. The most striking detail of 'Another Life' is Amnesia Scanner's use of both human and inhuman voices.
The latter is provided by the latest addition to the production unit, a disembodied voice called Oracle, which represents the sentience that has emerged from Amnesia Scanner.
Oracle's vocal performance ranges from exuberant mania to anxious dread and beyond. Coupled with the pop song structures that Amnesia Scanner employs for the first time, the avant-EDM productions of 'Another Life' evocatively explore a schizophrenic present marked by narratives of a slow apocalypse or salvation via technology.
Indeed, the lullaby of 'AS Another Life' swings between trill hope and casual threat, lending a precarious gait to the song's staggering rhythm. The album's first single, 'AS Chaos', is its most powerfully direct track, with Pan Daijing's English and Mandarin vocals taking over for Oracle. At its peak intensity,

Remixers getting remixed! The first batch of interpretations for TCK's 2016 debut album 'Adoldesscent' arrives with a trio of artists above the ordinary. While Tensnake and Joe Goddard take care of 'Tell Me' (the former delivers one of his peaking trademark tearjerkers, while the later one is basically meditating on himself), gifted &blessed Roman Flügel turns the proto-rave of 'R-Mancer' into a joyful ride through post-house that not only will make Gerdy happy. One record for every turntable.

Zwerm has never strived for a one-sided artistic profile. During the past ten years the quartet dallied between pure noise-impro, English renaissance music and contemporary composed music. The common denominator being not so much a particular stylistic view but rather a shared curiosity, Zwerms projects typically start with the question: 'what would happen if ...'
Badminton in Tehran started with the question: 'what would happen if we would worked with grooves for a few months' After that, anything was allowed. We created an online space where each one of us could drop our personal demos, which could then be used freely by the others. Within a few months a primordial soup of beats and grooves and little snippets of text was created. And once we started the recording sessions with producer Rudy Trouvé this served as the raw material out of which 10 new songs were crafted. Badminton in Tehran is Zwerm's first record in which all tracks are composed by Zwerm and it grooves like a Rube Goldberg-machine - DIY and slightly irregular.

Domesica's collaboration with Dutch label Tope Tape, originally founded in the mid-80s by Menko Konings and recently reborn, allowed them to reissue the mythical S.M Nurse album-cassette.

Synth Pop touch on the next Futuribile release. Marcelo Antonio Galleguillos Torres, born and living in Valparaiso (Chile), provides two romantic and nostalgic songs written, recorded and interpreted by himself.

Sames Waves is L'ALTRA's Lindsay Anderson and John Hughes. Hughes first crossed paths with Anderson in 2002 when she recorded vocals for Telefon Tel Aviv's 12" single, "Sound In A Dark Room" which would appear on his Hefty Records imprint. Hefty went on to release work from her group L'Altra as well as additional collaborative vocal work with Telefon Tel Aviv and Hughes' own projects under his name and aliases such as Slicker. Same Waves represents their first collaboration from the ground up. Anderson, a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist and Hughes, a producer and electronic musician, create a beautiful and strange hybrid of synthesized and organic elements on Algorithm of Desire. The album, equal parts pristine and weathered, lyrically and sonically explores themes of human connection, algorithmic technology, desire and artistic creation, all within the confines of a surrealist landscape. The album was recorded outside of Chicago at HFT Studio and includes several players from the Chicago jazz and improvisational scene, like Charles Rumback aka Colorlist, Macie Stewart (Ohmme), Bill MacKay, Nick Macri (Euphone), and Matt Ulery.

EchoDroides is a collaboration between Chicago natives Frank De La Mora & Miguel Martin. Their sound can be described as a trip through space with analog synthesizers and drum machines.
They came together in 2011 first working on remixes then shortly after decided to work on original material. Their music has been featured in TV shows, movies, promotional videos from Peugeot, fashion labels and the Ubisoft video game, Watch Dogs. For this special and limited release they re-created a track from 80s US studio project, Experimental Products, - paying tribute to "Glowing In The Dark" original and an instrumental.

Experimental Products has always been a massive influence on us from the very 1st time we heard them back in the 80s. Glowing in the Dark, in particular changed everything for us. Mark Wilde and Michael Gross were way ahead of their time. We wanted to pay tribute to them by re-creating this song from scratch.

Pussyfoot is back with one stonking big compilation album. 'Space Is The Plaice' is a 28-track aquatic space opera which fits neatly onto triple vinyl and a double CD with the extended digital version spanning a massive 35 tracks. The album sees artists contributing worldwide: UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, USA, and all over Europe. The album artwork by Dan MacMillan and Kieron Livingstone melds together psychedelic prog-rock with space electro-eccentrics themes which cover the 3LP with its tongue in cheek Douglas Adams inspired designs.

Howie B Featuring Norman Reedus - A Letter From Space
This may seem like the unlikely pairing of an electronic music man and a zombie killing super star (Walking Dead) but these boys have a friendship that spans over 20 years. Reedus lends his vocals to an astronaut's love letter written while looking down on the world from space. A dramatic and beautiful spoken word piece with an eerie treated piano and electronic synths.

Blood Wine Or Honey - Brilliant Pebbles
BWOH are: Shane Aspegren, Joseph von Hess and James Banbury - all multi instrumentalists. Their style builds on tribal rhythms, electro-psychedelia, and afrobeat sounds to create an eclectic sound. Blood Wine or Honey are a favourite of BBC 6 music DJ Gilles Peterson and this track continues where their album left off.

Ancient Lights Featuring Flowdan - Crash Landing
Go-to producer Joe Hirst's musical alias Ancient Lights is joined by Flowdan, AKA the founding member of Roll Deep and massive Grime MC. Flowdan lends his vocal stylings to this ambient electro grime track. Slow building synths ebb and flow in and out of X-Files-esque keys steeped in mystery. Gravelly spoken word vocals accompanied by female choral sounds.

Jacknife Lee - Overview
Jacknife Lee AKA Garrett Lee is a huge name in production having worked with the likes of Bloc Party, Snow Patrol and The Killers. 'Overview' Is Lee's first release on Pussyfoot since his 99 album: 'Muy Rico'. Hollow electronics bleeps, cinematic synths, background drums accompany warped sample vocals musing on earth from space. All-encompassing sound without overpowering the senses.

Tojin Kit - Machina
Tojin Kit is made up of super producer Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys), Chris James (Stateless, DJ Shadow) and Massive Attack cohort Kidkanevil (aka Gerard Roberts). The groups sound is vast, electronic and cinematic and their track 'Machina' is no exception. Intergalactic looping keys steeped in beautiful mystery, joined by grinding beats and robotic vocals.

Howie B Featuring Norman Reedus - A Letter From Space
This may seem like the unlikely pairing of an electronic music man and a zombie killing super star (Walking Dead) but these boys have a friendship that spans over 20 years. Reedus lends his vocals to an astronaut's love letter written while looking down on the world from space. A dramatic and beautiful spoken word piece with an eerie treated piano and electronic synths.

Blood Wine Or Honey - Brilliant Pebbles
BWOH are: Shane Aspegren, Joseph von Hess and James Banbury - all multi instrumentalists. Their style builds on tribal rhythms, electro-psychedelia, and afrobeat sounds to create an eclectic sound. Blood Wine or Honey are a favourite of BBC 6 music DJ Gilles Peterson and this track continues where their album left off.

Ancient Lights Featuring Flowdan - Crash Landing
Go-to producer Joe Hirst's musical alias Ancient Lights is joined by Flowdan, AKA the founding member of Roll Deep and massive Grime MC. Flowdan lends his vocal stylings to this ambient electro grime track. Slow building synths ebb and flow in and out of X-Files-esque keys steeped in mystery. Gravelly spoken word vocals accompanied by female choral sounds.

Jacknife Lee - Overview
Jacknife Lee AKA Garrett Lee is a huge name in production having worked with the likes of Bloc Party, Snow Patrol and The Killers. 'Overview' Is Lee's first release on Pussyfoot since his 99 album: 'Muy Rico'. Hollow electronics bleeps, cinematic synths, background drums accompany warped sample vocals musing on earth from space. All-encompassing sound without overpowering the senses.

Tojin Kit - Machina
Tojin Kit is made up of super producer Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys), Chris James (Stateless, DJ Shadow) and Massive Attack cohort Kidkanevil (aka Gerard Roberts). The groups sound is vast, electronic and cinematic and their track 'Machina' is no exception. Intergalactic looping keys steeped in beautiful mystery, joined by grinding beats and robotic vocals.

RLydmor is Copenhagen based Jenny Rossander, an electronic producer, composer, singer, songwriter and general troublemaker. Now she's about to release her third solo album "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story", a multi-layered piece of modern electronic pop music.
In her sounds and with her words, Rossander captures a reflective description of her surroundings and invites the listener to follow her on a very personal journey.
After her first steps with her two solo albums, that have been released in Denmark only, to much applause, the first international coming out was the 'Seven Dreams Of Fire" album as Lydmor & Bon Homme (with Tomas Høffding from WhoMadeWho). In 2016 Lydmor suddenly disappeared to Shanghai for several months. Her life in the Chinese metropolis inspired her to write a piece of modern electronic pop music which will be released as her new solo album "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story" in September. "There is a fearless madness in her that might have waited for too long to finally break out." (Nothing But Hope And Passion). With lots of initiative, Lydmor has made her dream come true to tour most of the world with her music. No matter if she plays an acclaimed festival, a famous club or the tiny living room of her greatest fans, every single one of Lydmor's shows means a highly intense experience. With her irresistible voice and unabashed honesty Lydmor places the little hooks of her melodies and lyrics into the electronic soundscape and she will flirt, dance, cry, scream and hug her way into your heart.

After her first two albums - A Pile of Empty Tapes (2012) and Y (2015) - which were only released in Denmark, Lydmor's new record will be released internationally for the first time by hfn music. "I Told You I'd Tell Them Our Story" is a rite of passage captured in intense moments experienced on the edge of the world and on the edge of one self. Lydmor lived in Shanghai for several months in 2016 and the Chinese metropolis inspired her to completely redefine her artistic expression and to write this new album.

It pleases me no end to introduce this genuinely brilliant compilation to you courtesy of new French label ERR REC. It's an evocative, funky, charming and hugely satisfying listen that takes in various moods and genres all lovingly produced on vintage gear by 9 musicians from the French indie scene under different pseudonyms. It's my guess that only hardcore Francophiles are likely to be aware of (m)any of them but regardless of that if you're a fan of synths, soundtracks & library music this could well be up there with your albums of the year.

Alas, for now, this LP is limited to the ludicrously low amount of 50 copies so we won't have any of them for very long. Also the price of this edition is reflected in the risograph machine-printed sleeve, making it very collectable. Listen and love...

R&S proudly presents a retrospective round up of Mariel Ito AKA Eric Estornel's futuristic yet heartfelt electro.

An early alias of the Cuban Miami born Eric Estornel the Mariel Ito trademark driving percussion, deep pads and hypnotic arrangements saw releases on iconic imprints like Modern Love, and Scsi AV at the turn of the century before being put into hibernation from 2006 onwards.

Estornel on the genesis of the project: "When i was 3 years old, Miami suddenly became flooded with refugees from Cuba called the Mariel Boatlift.  There was a huge crime wave and cubans that had been in Miami for years would call the "bad" refugees Marielitos.  I was a problematic and hyperactive kid constantly getting into trouble, and eventually my teachers began calling me el Marielito."

Fast forward to 2000, while thinking of a new name for this project Eric settled on Mariel ito as a nod to the Cuban community. "Usually only Miami Cubans understand the pun" he adds.

Electro had always been a popular sound in Miami during Eric's formative years there, he gravitated towards its futurism as well as the its emphasis on sound design, synth work and beat programming. His natural facility for emotive melodies and irrestistable grooves are immediately evident in the ten tracks on this release. Composed between 2000 and 2005 the music takes cues from the iconic IDM and electro sounds of the mid / late 90s  putting a new twist on broken beats and synthetics, artists such as Aphex Twin, Gescom, Bitstream, Gimmick, Pendle Coven, the pioneering Sheffield bleep sound and of course, a certain infamous Belgian imprint.

"R&S helped sculpt my taste growing up in the 90s.  So many seminal records came out back then that were really ahead of their time.  There's obvious picks like Selected Ambient Works and Energy Flash, but I was even more inspired by the works of David Morley, CJ Bolland, Source and the rest."

This release underlines the welcome reactivation of the Mariel Ito project from hibernation, with Estornel's full creative commitment moving forward;  "Friends have been asking me for years why I ever abandoned it in the first place, and would egg me on to relaunch it.  Last year when I decided I would not continue doing my Mosaic party in ibiza, I knew I would have more time to finally relaunch it and began writing new material.  Thanks to R&S i can now release the music i was making back then in the form of a retrospective album and start up again where I left off."
