Die aus Nordirland stammende Band Darkest Era hat sich den Ruf erworben, einen der gefühlvollsten,
atmosphärischsten und kraftvollsten Heavy Metals des Undergrounds zu kreieren. „Wither on the Vine“
präsentiert die Band auf dem Höhepunkt ihres Songwritings und ihrer Performance. Das Album, das sich mit
Themen wie menschlicher Tragödie, bitterer Misanthropie und heidnischer Spiritualität auseinandersetzt,
ist ein Album von verheerender emotionaler Wucht und musikalischer Katharsis. Über das kommende

Die dunklen und dennoch betörenden Bilder, die DARKHER alias Jayn Maiven mit ihrem schwerelosen Gesang, Gitarren und Streichern akustisch malt, beschwören cineastisch schillernde Szenen herauf, in denen Schönheit in der Dunkelheit liegt oder es zugleich vielleicht genau andersherum ist. Mit ihrem zweiten Album "The Buried Storm" gelingt es der Musikerin, Komponistin, Texterin und Produzentin ihre geliebte alchemistische Musikformel noch zu verbessern, die sie auf DARKHERs Debütalbum "Realms" aus dem Jahr 2016 fest etablieren konnte. DARKHER wurden 2012 als Soloprojekt der nordenglischen Sängerin und Gitarristin Jayn Maiven ins Leben gerufen. Der düster-melancholische, aber auch massive Sound auf ihrer selbstbetitelten Debüt-EP "Darkher" (2013) sorgte in Kombination mit der markanten Stimme der schüchternen präraffaelitischen Schönheit vor allem in der Doom-Szene für Aufsehen und führte dazu, dass bereits die folgende EP "The Kingdom Field" (2014) via Prophecy Productions erschien. Sogar ohne ein fertiges Album in der Tasche wurden DARKHER zu renommierten Festivals wie dem Roadburn in Tilburg, Niederlande, und dem Prophecy Fest in der Höhle von Balve eingeladen. Im Jahr 2016 erschien das Debütalbum "Realms", das von Fans und Kritikern gleichermaßen gelobt wurde. With the highly revered Norwegians remaining ever-dedicated to the art of the
riff after 35 years of existence, Darkthrone return for album number nineteen
and a new dose of metallic godliness. On the back of 2019’s triumphant ‘Old
Star’ opus, the duo of Nocturno Culto & Fenriz present a 41-minute maelstrom
of Epic Black Heavy Metal across five sprawling compositions.
Organic and dynamic, the album is an exploration of the very finest vintage
metal and the best of doom, all delivered in the unmistakable Darkthrone style,
whilst also incorporating instruments such as the Moog to further expand upon
these soundscapes.
Eschewing the process of using their own Necrohell II studios - which has
served the band so well over the last 15 years - & welcoming a change of environment and the opportunity to experiment with new ideas, ‘Eternal Hails......’
was recorded at Chaka Khan Studio in Oslo, & engineered by Ole Ovstedal &
Silje H gevold, breathing new life into the sound while retaining the essence of
Darkthrone’s natural, raw feeling.
The cover artwork features the piece “Pluto and Charon” (1972), from renowned science fiction artist David A. Hardy; a hugely inspirational image for
both Fenriz & Nocturno Culto spanning several decades, and this also stands
as a symbolic link between the genre-bending styles apparent on Darkthrone’s
earliest works, to those same traits evident on ‘Eternal Hails......’.

'A Blaze In The Northern Sky', Darkthrone's official second album, was originally
released in 1992 & was without question the blueprint for the Black Metal scene,
spearheading the evolution of the early second wave movement in Norway &
beyond. It was hailed on release as an album of true scene- shifting greatness,
following their more death metal focussed debut, 'Soulside Journey'. The rawness
apparent on the album (recorded at Creative Studios, the same location as
Mayhem's legendary Deathcrush was put to tape), was unusual for the time & an
antithesis to the usual metal production values & standards during the period.
With this, Darkthrone's statement of attitude & intent was clear & their status as
masters of Norwegian black metal was set.
This edition of 'A Blaze in the Northern Sky' coincides with the 30th anniversary of
the seminal album's release & is presented on limited white vinyl, with the sleeve
design replicating the original pressing, plus a refresh of the original 1992 audio
master.

sounding headbanging classics in the making. 'Astral Fortress' is itself a swift
follow- up to 2021's 'Eternal Hails' opus, because of Darkthrone's consistent &
ongoing writing process, which has been in force for some years now. For
Darkthrone does not sleep - it only waits.
Carried on the brisk wind of eager rock, with foundations in black, thrash, doom &
heavy metal, 'Astral Fortress' is the latest album of stellar, eclectic old metal in the
Darkthrone odyssey. With a seemingly endless dungeon full of heavy metal
influences channelled through Darkthrone's dynamic riff-machine, plus also with
many increasing inspirations taken from their own past catalogue, Darkthrone
has truly become its own beast within the metal world. Even though sprinkled

Committing to more time on the road at the same time as sharing rich spoils from the studio, Das Koolies include Newport, Nottingham, London and Manchester in their live plans. Determinedly exploring capability and ambition, the band’s continued, restorative return to wired and wonderful, man-and-machine-based music, following years of psych-folk-rock experimentation as four Furries, hasn’t meant forgetting the past. Som Bom Magnífico’s tour story, combining wistful and weary memory, rests the band’s case.

Taking on the lead lyrical and vocal role, Daf Ieuan, says: “Hindsight and rose-tinted glasses. It’s a song about a time when it was normal to order a veggie breakfast in hotels as a concession to a healthier life style, then following up by requesting to see the ‘Breakfast Wine Menu’. As Lou Reed sang: "Wine in the morning!".

Raphael beschreibt es mit seinen gnadenlos ehrlichen Lyrics. Hier ist nichts beschönigt. Dead Head was formed in 1989 in the Zwolle/Kampen area in The Netherlands. Straight from the start the band portrayed a hard working ethic and released several demos and did a ton of live shows. The band also released two full length albums before they started working on their soon-to-be-classic third album ‘Kill Division’. This album was the epitome of brutal riffs, pounding drums, aggressive vocals and finally accompanied by a production that was able to compete with the big names in the thrash metal genre. This neck-breaking, gut-wrenching piece of ungodly art shook the scene but was unfortunately met with lacking promotion and a decent distribution. Luckily in 2020 ‘Kill Division’ will be re-issued on 2-CD and LP by Petrichor so the world can re-acquaint itself with this masterpiece of sheer brutality and refined haunting melodies.
