Was wäre, wenn man sich für die nächste Veröffentlichung nicht nur alleine aufnehmen, sondern auch die Songs alleine schreiben würde? Je ein Song pro Bandmitglied. So entstand das Konzept zu Solitaer, was “einzeln lebend” bedeutet und somit das Antonym zu gregär darstellt. Social-Distancing als Songwriting-Konzept. Die Meinung der anderen Bandmitglieder war zwar erwünscht, brauchte aber keinen Einfluss auf das Schaffen der drei Musiker zu nehmen. So sind drei Songs entstanden, die zwar alle typische Merkmale erkennen lassen, die Teil der Hirsch Effekt-Rezeptur sind, sich aber doch vom typischen The Hirsch Effekt-Material unterscheiden. Das Ergebnis klingt nicht nur nach einem extrem spannenden Experiment, sondern eben auch sehr extrem. Abgerundet wird Die Solitaer EP von einer Bandversion des Songs “Gregaer”, der ursprünglich als Orchesterversion geschaffen wurde.

THE KEENING ist das musikalische Soloprojekt von Rebecca Vernon (SubRosa).

THE KEENING webt ein Netz aus üppiger Orchestrierung, amerikanischer Gothic-Sensibilität und winterlichen Mörderballaden vor einem Hintergrund aus dunkel schimmerndem Folk. Vernons frühere Band SubRosa hallt in THE KEENINGs kammermusikalischem Doom wider, der von Flöte, Streichern, Harfe, Waldhorn, Klavier, Orgel und Hackbrett getragen wird. Ultra-melodische Streifzüge durch verwunschene Sümpfe, endlose Brunnen, geheime Verbrechen, juwelenbesetzte Käfige und den wenig beneidenswerten Fluch, Zeuge eines Mordes zu sein, gibt es zuhauf. So düster das auch klingt, es gibt immer ein Licht am Ende des Tunnels.

Rebecca Vernon war die Leadsängerin, Gitarristin und Haupt Songwriterin der gefeierten Band SubRosa aus Salt Lake City. Sie beendete dieses 13-jährige Projekt im Jahr 2018, um sich auf THE KEENING zu konzentrieren.

Everything we do and experience through our thoughts, our skin, and our actions, constantly infuence our inner selves and our surroundings. It's a constant exchange and confrontation that drives our lives and pushes us to widen our horizons with each step we take. "As Within, So Without" was conceived together with Jacopo Pierazzuoli (drums), Eraldo Bernocchi (mix and additional guitars), and Petulia Mattioli (artwork). Joel is an experimental guitarist and sound designer, based in Zurich (Switzerland). The long-anticipated debut album "Infernal Fractality", set for a late 2023 release, unleashes a relentless onslaught of sonic brutality that has consumed over half a decade of tireless devotion from the band's enigmatic founder, Ødemark (known for his work with 3rd Attempt, Ovate, and Necrocave). Ødemark, an artist driven by both the fiery passion of psychedelics and a relentless pursuit of extreme metal's uncharted territories, has woven these elements into an epic, violent, and boundary-defying soundscape that delves deep into the realms of the Luciferian ideals, non-duality pointers, and the mystic principles found in his own psychedelic experiences.

THE LAST EON was formed to push the boundaries of the established but dormant industrial black metal sound pioneered by bands such Thorns and Mysticum and to its maximum exponential, with the vision of "creating the most intense music in history", objective that took 6 years of obsession, a couple burnouts, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers and outers, to map the depths of the psychedelic experience that would be distilled into "Infernal Fractality". With the help of drummer Jarle Byberg, Ødemark created this whole beast by himself.

After years of pushing every conceivable boundary, and breaking every possible rule and standard in composition, production and sound design, the masterpiece was ready for the crucible of Zardonic's mastering process, who consolidated the behemoth of a more than 300 track project into a time-space shattering soundscape of cosmic proportions.

Mainman Ødemark states: “I wanted to push the limits of what extreme metal can be, and materialize a vision for the future of electronic black metal that required me to rebel against every single rule in my mind of what black metal is, to create what black metal can be. Intense and intensely personal, The Dead Ones marks The Last Ten Seconds of Life’s Metal Blade label debut. 10 original tracks of pulverizing deathcore produced by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland of Pennsylvania’s Atrium Audio. In creating The Dead Ones, “everyone took what we learned from the past two releases and assembled what we thought would bring out the best of us from song structure, tonality of instruments, the mix/master, and the lyrical themes,” furthers McLaughlin.

The end result reflects a more personal and human experience rather than the philosophical and fictional approach used on earlier releases. The Dead Ones follows 2024’s acclaimed No Name Graves in the theme of death and rebirth, but in contrast, is directly focused on the human experience and the band members’ own struggles.

The Imperial Princess and her crew of Aussie rockers lord over eight love songs that prove few can push the boundaries of rock and metal like The Neptune Power Federation! Heading into the creation of their fifth studio album, Le Demon De L’Amour, Australian psychedelic rock and roll brigade The Neptune Power Federation couldn’t let go of the fact that love songs had been commandeered, in their words, by “soft rockers, bedwetters and the introvert crowd.” Whereas rock had its glory period during the 1970s and 80s, the art of the love song is now lost within heavier music. Few bands are now willing to venture into such territory — metal and rock have settled comfortably into typical, predictable lyrical tropes that fail to pull at the heartstrings the way they used to. On Le Demon De L’Amour, The Neptune Power Federation reclaims the art of the love song as their own. Off the heels of their acclaimed 2019 Memoirs of a Rat Queen studio album, the members of The Neptune Power Federation utilized the unexpected downtime afforded from the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic to craft an album that takes more chances than its predecessor. While the band’s trademark rock swagger and prog tendencies still come into play, Le Demon ups the voltage and energy. True, there is a multitude of genre-blurring taking place, but the album’s infectious choruses and leaden riffs easily re-imagine metal and rock’s glory eras without blatant thievery.

Of course, all roads to The Neptune Power Federation run through lead vocalist Screamin’ Loz Sutch and her stage persona, “The Imperial Priestess.” Le Demon’s eight cuts find the indomitable frontwoman in top form, belting out tales of love from a female’s perspective, weaving in stories of cult worship, murder and hypnotism. The album’s artwork (created by guitarist Inverted CruciFox) also introduces her new nemesis — The Wizzard Princess. Recorded at bass player JayTanic Ritual’s The Ped Food Factory in Marrickville, Sydney, with mixing duties provided by Clem Bennett, Le Demon De L’Amour leads The Neptune Power Federation into their tenth anniversary next year. Their journey has taken them from the sweaty clubs of Sydney to a global audience. Now armed with eight love songs sure to melt and captivate the most hardened metal hearts, The Neptune Power Federation boldly goes where few bands dare to go.
