Sarcasm has had a storied career. Originally formed in Sweden in 1987, Sarcasm would release blistering Death Metal throughout the early and mid-90’s. After a short-lived reunion in 1997, they would come back into the fold in 2015 with a new re-designed version of their lineup. Now they return with their new full-length album “Stellar Stream Obscured”. A concept-based album that is a journey. Managing to sound like their old selves, the bands launches a fine assault here featuring plenty of furious melodic rhythms alongside their traditional leanings. Although, they clearly have their ties in being an older Death Metal band, their sound still brings with it the youthful exuberance of newer Death Metal bands. They have this almost blackened style of Death Metal that cuts like a knife. The impressive guitar work is highlighted by the brutal blast beats and vile vocals emanating in every track. A surprising factor to their music is the slowing down of the tempo to offer up a more melodic sound. A lot of times the old school Death Metal bands seem to be stuck in their ways, but Sarcasm has implemented the more melodic sound to their brutal repertoire. One should appreciate the vile black metal styled vocals on the album, as they work so well together with the professional sounding musicianship. Take Black Metal, melodies, and Death Metal and blend it all up then you’ll have “Stellar Stream Obscured”. The music is beautiful, vile, and brutal all in the same. “Stellar Streams Obscured” is a triumphantly diverse Death Metal album that brings a complete and competent sound. Sarcasm deliver on every facet musically.

Black Metal band Nyss that began in April 2018 as a means
to create pure nihilistic music that haunts deeply within the
listener with no boundaries or comfort.

Sárr is not DSBM, it is nihilism. The difference being personal
strength through the hellish life we all must endure. As with
all of Þórir’s projects the music is not necessarily ‘written’
in the classical sense, the music comes from deep thought,
meditation and the building of layers given from an external,
maybe even spiritual force.

Only recording when the calling came for creativity, nothing
was forced, it had to be natural, so forgetting many of the
typical restraints of clean audio production was essential for
this project, it was created straight to tape with virtually no
editing to maintain the raw and icy edge

In the 1980s, UK Legendary Heavy Metal band SATAN made three different demos which were reproduced on cassette tape . The songs on each demo give the listener a broad indication of where the band was at both artistically and technically. What’s interesting about this release is that it features three different singers and three different drummers. Proof positive is their seventh studio album, and third for Metal Blade, Songs in Crimson. If 2022’s Earth Infernal album was brutal, up-tempo and with loud guitars, guitarist Russ Tippins calls Songs in Crimson “concise. It’s more to the point and gets there quicker. One of the reasons behind the title Songs in Crimson is that this record is very ‘song’ focused. There’s more punch this time around. Each chorus speaks for itself.” An eminently relatable song is “Era (The Day Will Come).” “There is nobody on this planet who is not familiar with the feeling of loss. When you get to the age we are at in this band, it becomes a weekly occurrence. If there is a message in the lyrics, it is pretty much ‘do not take anything for granted.’ Especially people. You just don’t know what is around the corner that you can’t see coming.” Satan’s chemistry, honed by years of collaboration, brotherhood and love, is unbreakable. “We played at a metal festival where the headlining band had zero original members,” Tippins says. “I cannot get my head around that, though I admire their bravery. We are the genuine article.” To be clear: “We did not reunite just to trade on past glory,” he concludes. “If you want nostalgia, this is not the band for you. We look only ahead and always will.”

SATURNUS haben sich mit "The Storm Within" selbst übertroffen. Die musikalischen Themen Meer, Regen und stürmische Gewässer ziehen sich wie ein roter Faden durch die Songs, in denen sich Wut, Verlust, Melancholie und Schmerz gleichermaßen widerspiegeln. Die handwerkliche Reife des Albums verleiht seinen erhabenen aber auch ruhigen Momenten sowie den gelegentlichen brutalen Ausbrüchen eine äußerst spannende Dynamik. Die Anfänge von SATURNUS liegen im Jahr 1991 als Sänger Thomas A.G. Jensen im Umfeld der dänischen Hauptstadt Kopenhagen nach Mitmusikern suchte, um eine Death-Metal-Band zu gründen. Nach mehreren Umbenennungen und Umbesetzungen wurde der Name SATURNUS schließlich im Jahr 1993 in Beton gegossen. Die Band veröffentlichte ihr erstes Album "Paradise Belongs to You" im Januar 1997 und erhielt sofort eine Einladung zum berühmten Roskilde Festival. Zur Feier ihres 20-jährigen Bestehens kehrten SATURNUS auf Europas Straßen zurück und traten unter anderem bei renommierten Festivals wie dem Brutal Assault (CZ), Copenhell (DK) und ArtMania (RO) auf. Von 2014 bis 2017 tourten die Dänen nur mit gelegentlichen Unterbrechungen, was sie bis nach Russland und in den Nahen Osten führte. Nach einigen signifikanten Umbesetzungen stießen die Gitarristen Indee (ehemals CLOUDS und EYE OF SOLITUDE) und Julio von AUTUMNAL im Jahr 2020 zu SATURNUS. Trotz weiterer Hindernisse, die durch die Pandemie entstanden, begann die Band schließlich mit der Arbeit an ihrem nächsten Album und setzte dabei auch die Zusammenarbeit mit Flemming Rasmussen fort. Die lange, schwierige Entstehung von "The Storm Within" verlangte SATURNUS auf dem Weg einige schmerzhafte Opfer ab. Blut, Schmerz und Schweiß haben ihre Spuren auf diesem Album hinterlassen. Die Verschmelzung von Hochkultur und Black Metal auf höchstem Niveau – Satyricon & Munch

Satyricon & Munch zeigt zwei der bekanntesten norwegischen Künstler, Edvard Munch und SATYRICON, vereint in einem bahnbrechenden Kunstwerk, das die Grenzen zwischen Hochkultur und Black Metal Musik zerfließen lässt. Das 56-minütige Instrumentalwerk, kreiert von SATYRICON-Mastermind Satyr, ist als musikalisches Werk konzipiert unterwirft sich keinen stilistischen Grenzen und geht weit über jegliche Genrekonvention hinaus.

Auch wenn das Stück für die Kunstausstellung Satyricon & Munch geschrieben wurde, hat es eindeutig die emotionale Tiefe, um in jeder Umgebung außerhalb des Ausstellungsraums seine Wirkung zu entfalten.

Die neue, einzigartige und von Kritikern und Fans hochgelobte Kunstausstellung war bis zum 28.08.2022 im MUNCH-Museum in Oslo zu sehen.

For many Savatage diehards, that landmark is Streets.Originally released in 1991,
the group's first rock opera tells of a rock star who ultimately overcomes the
demons of his drug- dealing past to achieve spiritual salvation. The album
spawned what would become the band's most beloved song, an epic tale of
redemption titled "Believe". It would also be the last Savatage record featuring
vocalist Jon Oliva performing alongside his late brother, guitarist Criss Oliva.
This Savatage classic is being reissued as a Heavyweight Double LP Gatefold
Edition on Black Vinyl, along with a Limited Collector's Edition on Ocean Blue
Vinyl. Both editions are mastered for vinyl and reissued with the original cover
design, specially enhanced artwork, including a 12pages LP booklet with
extensive liner notes by Clay Marshall.

Oslo-based sludge-metal power trio SAVER are back with a vengeance. The band's new album `From Ember And Rust' channels the bare-knuckle ferocity of their 2019 full-length debut, `They Came With Sunlight', alongside a formidable command of dynamic, texture and sonic space that belies the relative youth of the project. Having erupted into the Norwegian metal scene without warning, SAVER is the result of heavy veterans Ole Ulvik Rokseth, Markus Stole and Ole Christian Helstad combining their years of experience into one three-headed beast, hellbent on pushing the boundaries of what the band is collectively capable of. Restless by nature, SAVER are constantly refining and reinventing their sound. From the crunching take on The Rolling Stones’ ‘Paint It Black’ and the super-charged melodic romp of The Beatles’ ‘Paperback Writer’ to their freeway mad take on Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Stone Free’, Saxon show their love and appreciation with a series of faithful, raw and ready tributes. Recorded at Brockfield Hall near York, UK, with a firm eye on the old school way using Marshall cabs, Marshall amps and real drums, Saxon approach the likes of Motörhead’s ‘Bomber’ (with added whistle!), AC/DC’s ‘Problem Child’, Black Sabbath’s ‘Evil Woman’ and a raucous Deep Purple’s ‘Speed King’ with refreshingly warm, unfiltered, “vintage” sounding renditions.

Byford takes on some new vocal challenges, which he duly smashes on the likes of Thin Lizzy’s ‘The Rocker’. Saxon do a supreme job of entertaining both themselves and their audience throughout Inspirations. For even more proof of the validity behind that statement, wrap your ears around their sparkling take on Toto’s ‘Hold The Line’ and consider Saxon’s Inspirations a mission accomplished.

Nach dem Release von "Inspirations" im Jahr 2021, ist "More Inspirations" das zweite Album mit Coverversionen, mit denen Saxon ihren musikalischen Einflüssen huldigen, die Inspirationen, die sie in ihrer über 40-jährigen Karriere begleitet haben.

Als erste Single kommt die überraschende Version von "The Faith Healer" der The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Ob es ihre Version von "We've Gotta Get Out Of This Place" von den Animals ist oder das dynamische "From The Inside" von Alice Cooper oder aber die grimmig vorgetragene Version von Kiss' "Detroit Rock City", More Inspirations ist ein unkonventioneller Trip der Saxon Männer, die ihre
Musik noch heute im Original zu Hause und im Tour Bus hören.

Produziert wurde das Ganze von Biff Byford, aufgenommen mit der Hilfe seines Sohnes Seb Byford, gemixt von Jacky Lehmann.

More Inspirations beinhaltet passionierte Songs von Rainbow, ZZ Top und Cream, das dröhnende "Razamanaz? von Nazareth, eine eigene,
geschmackvolle Version von "Substitute? (The Who) oder das mit einem fetten Groove angereicherte "Gypsy? von Uriah Heep. Diese Aufnahmen zeigen deutlich, aus welcher Ecke Saxon kommen.

Nach dem großen Erfolg der Seize the World Tour 2022 kommt Saxon im März mit einigen Dates zurück auf Tour, diesmal mit den deutschen Metal-Titanen Rage als Support.
