During the 1970s and 80s, the city of Boston and its environs produced some of the era's most iconic music stars, from rock megaliths like Aerosmith and The Cars to disco and soul celebutantes Donna Summer, New Edition and Tavares. These artists emerged from Beantown's thriving underground music scene to fnd global success, but what about the countless contemporaries who never made it beyond the local circuit Native DJ, producer and bass player Serge Gamesbourg began digging in the crates for forgotten gems more than two decades ago; emerging in 2018 with his frst BBE compilation, lovingly titled Boston Goes Disco! 'I wanted to shed light on more obscure & unknown disco & boogie records outta Boston and the surrounding areas; basically small label and privately pressed late 70s and early 80s dance music from Massachusetts.' Turning detective as he began to track down many an obscure artist to license music for the album, Gamesbourg often found Boston's legendary Berklee College of Music to be the common denominator for many bands throughout the years. 'A lot of these cats came here real young to study from various parts of the country, met the other band members and wrote music and performed locally before fnishing their studies and moving on.' With artwork paying homage to 80's rap compilation 'Boston Goes Def', Boston Goes Disco! provides an exciting insight into the city during its most culturally fertile period, uncovering a rich musical history previously only known to those who were there.

It’s been a busy eight months since Dampé’s debut on Dirt Crew Recordings. That time has seen the producer hold down monthly slots on Rinse FM, contribute a downtempo electronica/jazz edit to the S3A ‘Pages Remixes” EP as well as open big rooms for the likes of Surgeon and Blawan.

The intervening months have also seen the producer set up camp in the Rhythm Section studio in South East London, and the result of new access to studio gear can be heard all across ‘Garden’. Compared to the debut ‘Peach Shuffle’ this is a far more machine-led and darker listening experience. Snatches of acoustic instruments and space remain, but it’s never long before the disembodied vocals and oversaturated classic drum kits return reminding you this is music best enjoyed in the club.

‘A Basement, 10 Years Ago’ started just there. A bass line dimly recalled from a long-lost 6am jam is sequenced on a weighty analogue keyboard, while syrupy R&B vocals dance around mbira and gangsa, all slowly building and building together. ‘727 and Arp Breaks’ is a love letter to two of the producer’s favourite instruments from the studio. A TR-727 and an Arp Odyssey collide across dubbed out stabs to form some very rolling breaks.
Sunday Night Machines’ sees Dampé tame the box-of-physics that is the Arp Odyssey again with a sprawling meditation on two repeating arpeggios.

‘Garden’ is the one for the dancers. Four variations play with the same melodic theme in distinct sections, with the second variation being the deepest and most floor-ready the whole record gets. ‘France’ is a warped dub-come-hip hop beat that manages to conjure both Lil Jon and Yusef Lateef. We approached Liverpool’s finest ASOK (Lobster Theremin, M>O>S Delsin) for remix duties and to close out the record with a twisted bang. He turned in a propelling weapon that brings a whole new texture to the track listing. It’s very 90’s, very ravey and very raw, in a true IDM style.

With this eclectic mix of sounds we are entering another chapter of the Dirt Crew story and we hope you dig it as much as we do!

It's game time ladies and gents - and our next release is here. To celebrate the eighth record, we have a special white label affair coming up from none other than HDSN, who passionately ripped the heart and soul out of three new tracks once again. Woven together with organic, electronic textures but also displaying an undoubted soulful quality, The Game represents a sound that is born out of a deep love and appreciation for the music.


Indeed, the title track is definitely the peak time bomb on the record. The track is wrapped up in a kicking groove, powerful drums, a driving baseline and nice looped vocals - all combined to make for a sure crowd-mover, which is gonna throw any crowd into an uncontrollable frenzy as soon as the deep bass and soulful sounds blast through the speakers. “The Power” really encompasses what house music is all about: it's a feeling of unity, no matter your race or sexuality. It’s pure positivity, with its roots in gospel and soul.


The hypnotizing Rhodes line and the blistering vocals provide the listener with a real chance to rediscover the lightheartedness lost in the chaos of modern life. Positive and infectious, this one is impossible not to love. Elegant in its simplicity, it's pure and (unlike much contemporary music), not overproduced. “The G-Code” can best be described as one big trip down memory lane, an anthem the hood danced to in the past. A tune that pulls no punches, it is packed with heavy swung beats and deep and sleazy rap samples, a move which grants the release an undoubted hip-hop swagger. A limited edition release, HDSN's latest iOS definitely one worth cherishing.

The Italian Duo Club Paradiso coming from diverse and ever-evolving music backgrounds, they started their collaborative project in 2016. Romagna, Adriatic Riviera, is what they call home and also the primal inspiration behind Club Paradiso. Their first album “Esotica Erotica Psicotica” is out on april 26th on Mondo Groove with Kompakt distribution, follow up to the acclaimed 2017 single Panoramica, and is a wonderful patchwork of colours. Opener Romagna Tropicale transports Riviera to a tropical island, Tuco mixes arpeggiating lines with a western harmonica and a distant spoken, Solo tu with the voice of Francesca Amati is a sensual, slo-mo synth-pop beauty, and Echoes a throbbing deep house number. The B-side opens with Flauto Cosmico, a killer Afro/Cosmic track with a folky flute, Okinawa has the voice of Niconote aka the legendary Nicoletta Magalotti of Violet Eves fame and it’s simply a memorable song with an eastern vibe in the music, La Rabbia Saudita, with a special Daniele Baldelli & Marco Dionigi featuring, is half part Arabic and half part funky, and the closing track, Mirage, is, yes, like a mirage. You can’t miss this.

Four years after releasing 'Exotic Jazz Impressions From Hungary' Budabeats Records proudly presents another exciting selection of some long forgotten and rare pieces of Hungarian popular music.

This time their focus is on the non-existing soul scene of 70's Hungary, which, however produced a handful of gems that could have been released anywhere in the world and had not disappointed any soul head of the era.
Zsuzsa Cserhati was one of the many tragic figures of Hungarian pop history: a celebrated singer who could never use all her potential because of some shady characters of the monopolistic music industry obstructing her carrier. Her two cuts featured on this 10" are the most interesting ones she ever recorded.
'Puha Sohajok' is a sensual but tight soul tune, no other title could describe it better than 'Soft Sighs'. The producers of her second track on here, 'Ne Nezz a Napba' probably had a thing for 'Les Fleur' by Charles Stepney and Minnie Riperton but hey, who could blame them?

'Harangzugas' is the sole side Aniko Baliko ever recorded but what a song it is!
Mellow mid-tempo soul with a slight disco feeling, unmistakably cool.

Kati Bontovics has been a renowned singer in Hungary since the early 70's known mostly for her jazz tinged works, both on her own and with many different acts.
'Holnap Megallnak az Orak’ is a groovy orchestral soul tune which we would be right to call a paraphrase of one of the most well-known standards of the genre.
Originally all four songs were released on very limited domestic 7" singles only now all of them being obscure and sought after even in Hungary.
This is your chance to get them on a strictly limited (300 hand-numbered copies worldwide) 10" single including a one-page colour book insert so you can pimp up your copy individually.

"Disco Fashion" is certainly one of the rarest, obscure and mysterious record ever produced in Italy. At the same time one of the most experimental and psychedelic recording mixed in a classic disco style. The author is unknown; his name doesn't tell us anything or anyone we can associate to him. The musicians were most probably turnists (amazing turnists I mean) with fantasy names. The name "Electric Machine" was used only for this project as far as we know, as well as for the label. The founder of the publishing company who licensed the reissue passed away and the family carrying on the business is not aware of any stories behind this project. What better occasion to loose yourself to the listening of this incredible find

Up next on Sundries, SNDRS004, Flawsome by G. Markus, a funky and soulful disco inspired release with music for all occasions.

Kicking things off is the titular track Flawsome, a groovy, stomping, disco-house belter with an unforgettable bassline, dreamy synth strings, and a vocal hook that’s hard to resist!

Next up is Jackfruit, a slightly more chilled out and soulful number featuring luscious keys and a silky-smooth bassline. Perfect for warming up the crowd or winding down at the after party.

Turning over onto the B side is Toxic Masculinity Must Die: a super funky and freaky disco infused joyride of a track. With an emphatic disco beat, this one is sure to get the party moving!

Finally, we have I See You, Mara, a sumptuous blend of old and new, with disco rhythms and bass riffs seamlessly integrated with synth arpeggios and housey organ melodies. The perfect way to end any disco-house set.

Sidney Charles's Heavy House Society keeps up the momentum after a head turning first EP with a second sizzler, this time from Bodeler with a remix from Russian talent Tripmastaz.

Argentina's Bodeler mixes up minimal, house, funk and deepness on labels like Sintope and Unique Trax. He is a master of driving club grooves with real atmosphere and proves that here.

Mandatory Trip is the single and has a slick, bobbling bassline that burrows deep as jazzy hi hats spin up top and sci-fi motifs peel off the groove. It is a tripped out tune of the highest order, and really hits hard.

Hailing from an industrial region known as the Detroit of Russia and releasing on Cocoon, Minus and Desolat, Tripmastaz is a contemporary giant. His remix breaks up the beats, injects some funk and raw percussive energy and takes you on a real dance floor adventure.

This is another fantastic EP that perfectly lives up to Heavy House Society's mission of serving up physical tracks for the floor.

We come back with a fresh single “Nowhere In Milano” by Dumming Dum featuring Rush Midnight. The 21st release in the label catalogue brings the original composition together with three remixes from Alex Schaufel, Rafael Cerato and Justin Cholewski.

Available on limited edition triple vinyl (via DJ specialty shops) this is a compilation of nine tracks remixed (between 1979 and 1982) by Larry Levan, the DJ behind New York's famously influential nightclub, The Paradise Garage. Levan is a producer and remixer who, though he died in 1992, continues to be cited as one of the industry's greatest and most revered. Each of the nine individual full-length tracks was DIGITALLY REMASTERED specifically for this project. The sound quality is brilliant! The compilation comes complete with comprehensive liner notes giving the label's history, its relationship with Levan and anecdotes about each of the nine remixes and how each came about.

Originally released in 1999 this release has been fully re created for 2016. Released in conjunction with West End.

Höga Nord Rekords proudly presents Birds from London. Birds or Katie Wilkinson is relatively new as a producer but has been DJ-ing and playing in bands for the last nine years, marinating herself in interesting underground music. This 7”, Transcendental Phases/Tunnel Vision is her first release on Höga Nord Rekords.

Birds is a declaration of love to electronic music and psychedelia. The vocals in Tunnel Vision bares traces from the psychedelic pioneers of the 60’s – Think Roky Erikson with a Roland 303! Birds’ music is powerful and monotonous and she creates a dirty, warm and monumental soundscape. The production is airy and dynamic

Wilkinson mean that “we must try and find harmony in what we have and try and aim towards something positive, despite the fact that we live in a society that’s been completed fucked via the selfish behaviour of others (and most probably, ourselves at times).” With Brexit and the new wave of racism, spreading over Europe Birds makes music for a generation left with little hope but with the desire for something too long for.

You know how it goes at the after party, over indulge and you end up hogging the conversation. So, in the interest of better dancefloor discourse allow us to present Drum Chums, a new series of edits by percussion pals from across the globe.

This inaugural edition comes from our good buddy Basso, a Hamburg homie whose digging expertise is rivalled only by his scalpel skills and superb silliness.
Dipping into the darkest corners of his ever-Growing Bins, Basso shines up a quartet of rediscovered delights for an edit EP which oozes grooves and off balance moves.

On an uptempo A-side, the German luxuriates in the spectral arps, glistening licks and uplifting chords of fusion boogie winner 'Do Stay For Breakfast', before serving the steamy, sultry and seductive vampire disco jam 'Soft Choppers'
Things take a turn for the Balearic on the B-side thanks to the Afro-tropical pop of 'Simple Stroll', all electroid bass, chugging percussion and playful guitar, and finally the cosmic cool of 'Breaking Bread', a spaced out bossa for heads and feet.

Germany’s Jacob Groening is one of those hard to pin down artists working within the space of organic dance music. As a live performer and hybrid DJ, Jacob somehow manages to infuse everything from gypsy to jazz, blues to soul, with distinctly electronic elements. Never one to settle for anything less than unique, his gentle touch and international influences create music that is both sweet and powerful. This sound has already been felt across the likes of Bar 25, teyoyoke, Delicieuse Musique, and his own Kamai Music imprint, and now Jacob
provides the 4th instalment on Amsterdam’s The Gardens of Babylon eponymous label. Jacob’s Leslie Ep is a three-track excursion, Inspired by travels yet constructed in quarantine. It is a testament to the connective power of music through uncertain times, where some dancefloors may be empty, but hearts and minds remain full. Until we meet again, let Jacob’s playful and pulsating Ep satisfy those Communal urges with a journey through sound and culture. Starting this journey, its title track gently swells throughout with subtle chants and hypnotic percussion. Kabir then kicks things up a notch, Bouncing between its own pulsating rhythm and powerful chord progressions. Finally, Iguazu draws direct inspiration from Jacob’s travels through India during times before the world changed. With field audio and local musicians interjected throughout its explorative atmosphere, Iguazu is the perfect representation of Jacob’s distinct style: gentle, shifting, and cultural. We kick off 7’s Clash as we mean to continue, keeping things concise with 4-5 minute chunky chuggers made for the more laidback dancefloors and kitchen DJ sessions.

Disco Dub wizard Pete Herbert delivers a bottom heavy edit of an old classic, and on the flip we get a wonky slice of pan-asian exotica in a dub-chug style with shaman poetry and vintage balearico show tunes added for extra garnish.

Fontaines D.C. 'A Hero's Death' (Soulwax Remix) is released on Partisan, January 19th, in collaboration with Soulwax, who are pressing up a limited run of 1000 hand-stamped vinyl, hitting shops shortly after the digital release.

Given that John Devecchis AKA The Owl decided to call his long-promised debut album Concrete Funk, you'd probably expect something heavy, grey and angular. Yet the music contained within - a mixture of loopy, gently beefed-up revisions and straight re-edits of killer funk, soul, disco and boogie jams - is anything but grey and dull. It's every bit as colourful as his previous EPs, with the many highlights including the bumpin' 'Solar Funk', the squelchy brilliance of Steve Monite re-rub 'Only You Baby', the synth-heavy, Italo-style throb-job 'The Truth', and the soaring, string-drenched disco release of 'Knuckles'. With 12 killer cuts strewn across two slabs of wax, it's a value-for-money collection that contains more high-grade edits than you can shake a proverbial stick at.

First up, Rare Pleasure’s ‘Superfine Feeling’. Only ever pressed as an almost unattainable acetate that’s rarely traded hands and when it does we’re talking £400 upwards. A 1977, modern-soul-tinged disco number from the New York troupe with soaring vocal harmonies, jamming guitars and big band section galore.

Who better to take on the Bee side than Ashley Beedle himself, offering up a signature NSW rejig - retweaking, dubbing and straight buzzin this cut out across those summer thermals for maximum dancefloor bedlam.

The 4th release on Sofia by KiNK is all about warmth. The harmonies are deep, the instruments are muffled, the rhythms are humanised. Even when some of the tracks are getting a bit aggressive, they are not hurting, but giving the right amount of energy and surprise. This record is built from some of the live streams Strahil was doing during the pandemic lockdown in April. "101 Reasons" is a track with disco epic-ness and techno attitude. It captures KiNK's dream of being on the sweaty floor again, surrounded by dancers, one big family, like it used to be. "Dreamer" is low key house music, with melodies, leaking between the notes and the rhythms are somehow derailing, but instead of chaos, you get that dreamy feeling like if you watch a ribbon in the sky. The phenomenal Dutch artist Frits Wentink delivers a tighter version of the track with his unique swing on the drums and extra chords, which uplift the track with new energy. The closing song "Set The Mood Right" is recorded with his usual collaborator Rachel Row on the vocals. It's a very relaxed downtempo track, which takes an unexpected turn and it's a perfect open end for the record. A warm record for the cold days.

Panthera Krause's latest and divinely titled album "It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You" is now a year old, but nonetheless still blissfully resonating. It is Mr. Krause's most accomplished and versatile work yet. So versatile actually, you'd have to be hella versatile yourself to remix that material. But the Riotvan headquarter still managed to gather a bunch of people with good prospects to live up to the job.

This 1982 Italo Disco/Boogie classic gets the reissue treatment complete with instrumental on the flip and original centre label artwork!

All the music presented here is original, and has been recorded in Jordan in May 2014. This project was born when I met Shadi in Paris, at the percussion recording sessions for Acid Arab. From these sessions came the idea ofexploring local music styles on the verge of disappearing, in Jordan and elsewhere in the Middle East. It was also an opportunity for me to meet exceptional people and wonderful artists. For 15 days, we travelled through Jordan, recording local musicians. Here we hear Osama Al Khairat aka Abu Sayah, an exiled Syrian musician who plays the Yarghoul (two flutes linked together by beeswax. One plays a drone, the other the corresponding range, all while blowing continuously).
I want to specially thank Shermine Sawalha for allowing us to record in the living room of her parents' house, as well as for coordinating the whole project. Without her energy and patience, this record would not be in your hands today.
Also, many thanks to Ali Hamad Zalabia, who welcomed us to his camp in the desert at Wadi Rum, one of the most beautiful places that I have ever had the chance to see...

Absolutely stellar proto-disco jam from 1975 on the minute Shield label, Nassau County's Hokis Pokis may not be the most well known of funk / soul outfits but that doesn't mean they groove any less than any of the big guns!

'Nowhere' is a true underground classic, one for the real disco aficionados. One of those grooves that straddles the thin lines between rock, soul and funk. This is a proper club record and in the right hands will keep a dancefloor locked in and moving.
Speaking of 'right hands' this special 12" reissue sees NYC DJ and edit royalty Danny Krivit tastefully extend the original 3.32 7" A-side version into an extended club jam. Never one to utilise tired filters, loops, sweeps and so called laptop 'production methods' Danny turns in a fine extension that is subtle, effective and most of all - funky. A truly glorious slice of uplifting dance music 'Nowhere' is an essential purchase for those of you who dig the real deep stuff.

Kapote is the head of Berlin’s future disco- neo funk- nastyhouse label Toy Tonics.
His album came out in june and caused quite some euphory around the world. You can hear his tracks in the sets of all kind of quality DJs currently. From Moodymann to Artwork, Call Super, Disclosure to Black Madonna and Auntie Flo. And you always recognize his vibe... that mix of live played keyboards and basses combined with rare samples cutted on a MPC. (Before Kapote got into dancemusic he studied jazz piano and plays several instruments). Here now you you get 3 remixes from his album material. Banger all the way.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of signing your first release with a record label. The combination of pride, anxiety and anticipation is almost unbearable. In the end, you get to hold your own record in your hands and realize this could be the start of something beautiful. In this case, it’s newcomers Makèz who get amped up for this with their debut release on Heist.

Makèz (formed by Jan-Willem Mulder and Kees van ‘t Klooster) are a duo from Amsterdam, where they both studied music production and sound design. Apart from DJ’ing under various aliases, they’ve also been organizing their own successful intimate party series “Peak Mystique” and that’s where we got to meet them. It was hard not to get infected by their musical enthusiasm and after a few listening sessions and some help of Fouk’s Daniel Leseman & Hans Peeman for the final mix-down, we were all really happy with the music they produced for Heist.

Their ‘Different Planets’ EP sees the duo navigate between disco flavored house, dreamy electronics and old school Chicago influences. The remix is by none other than Belfast based DJ and founder of Body Fusion: Bobby Analog.

Three years after their last collaboration “Lost in the Moment”, part of Darius’ debut album Utopia, the French producer and Nigerian born future soul artist Wayne Snow unveil their stellar single “Equilibrium”.

The message of unity has never felt more relevant than the times we are living through right now. This project composed one year ago, serves as a stark reminder that we can all transcend above our differences and connect through the experience of music together, regardless of colour and race.

The undeniable synergy of both artists create a harmony magnified by the richness of their diverse cultures and musical background.

The beat instantly catches us in a warm and arresting atmosphere. The main melody reveals an uptempo rhythm gently interwoven in Wayne Snow’ emotive voice, born in Nigeria, living in Berlin in preparation for his next album. His lyrics infuse a carefree candor, which only suggests love and euphoria, fruit of an universal balance and a collective caring energy.

After multiple collaborations among “Helios” or the “Nightbirds” improvised live project (feat. FKJ and Crayon), the two artists reunite once again on “Equilibrium”. Heady and joyful, only few seconds are enough to form a timeless memory and make this track an instant classic. Darius holds Wayne’s powerful vocals, which travel through the composition as gospel pipe dreams. His Funk and Disco influences, embodied by his heart-warming and dynamic groove reminds us of his iconic project Romance (2014). Driven by a festive and upbeat energy, Darius finally renews himself with a return to his musical roots, whilst Wayne Snow steps up towards an audacious expression and a peek into his forthcoming artist album.

Lovers of pastel and retro aesthetics, we find the artist’s aesthetic language elevated through an impressive video treatment by the esteemed French director Alice Kong set for release on July 23rd. The audio release will precede a week earlier on July 16th, part of his forthcoming project.

Inkswel is firing into 2020 with his debut release The People EP on Boogie Angst.

Having previously released on such top notch labels as BBE, Rush Hour, Sonar Kollektiv and Yoruba Soul (as one half of Planetself), quality is assured from the producer with two original tracks and high quality remixes.

Emilio Acevedo, the man behind Lasser Drakar is a proper Electronic / Indie veteran. Being involved in several projects since the late 80´s. Founder of the band TITAN with which he has put out four albums in which they have collaborated with figures like Gary Newman and Egyptian Lover. With his duos “Sonido Lasser Drakar” and “Maria Daniela Y Su Sonido Lasser” he approached dance music in his own high energy pop way always with a touch of humor. “Back in 2006, when I had recently opened my first little bar in Playa del Carmen “Corvette Ninja”, Emilio came to town to perform live with Maria Daniela to La Santanera, where I was a resident DJ. Besides his performance there, he agreed to do a solo DJ set at my little place, I was super flashed by the music he was playing which included some amazing covers and references . When he finished playing I had to ask what all that was… he told me most of it was un edited material he had produced basically just to DJ… I was even more flashed… Ten years passed and we met again in Playa del Carmen having dinner before a show where he was playing with his band and I was Djing… I asked him about that music I was so flashed about a decade ago and he told me he still had it, most of it just in those CD´s he used to play, still unreleased… I asked him if he could send it to me to play it and so he did during the next weeks… Every time I would open a file I would be amazed and every time I would play those tracks, the reactions were amazing and often people on my side would ask me what the hell was that… So at some point I had to ask… “Would you like to release this on our Label??” Lucky me, he was up for it and here we are now in 2019 releasing his first solo material under the Lasser Drakar name, the tracks he produced between 2001 and 2004 which in my opinion happen to be more modern than lots of the things you find these days.”

Breaking up South London soul man, Ashong’s vocals into a ghostly exchange with a mind-bending bass line and double-time rhythm, the 'Street Dub' is unmistakable Matthew Herbert quirkiness.

DJ, producer, songwriter & Femme Culture label founder, Elkka, brings her unmistakeable energy & power to Joyfulness. What was once a soothing, mellow-soul excursion is now a direct & inspiring dance-floor cut. Thumping kick drums, swirling hi-hat rhythms, jittery synth and robotic-steel-drum melodies reform Hector and Alexa's sublime production.

On the B-side, Broken Beat legend Daz I Kue delivers a squelchy sub-heavy workout, full of percussive punchiness and new orchestral dimensions.

Meanwhile south-London producer and DJ Shy One takes another Andrew Ashong collaboration, formerly playlisted on BBC Radio 6 Music, and goes deep, phasey and peculiar. Chopping outcuts of chat between Andrew and Hector, ethereal vocals and synths and delivering a heavy kick drum, with a touch of broken beat magic.

Following his Detroit Swindle collaboration “Coffee In The Morning” and his “Back To My Place” outing on Darker Than Wax (which saw him gain support from the likes of Benji B, OkayPlayer & more) “Sun After Rain” is a keys-driven dance floor groover, complete with triumphant brass stabs and a rock solid rhythm section. Delivering a promise of the brighter tomorrow that the world is currently yearning for.

On the flip, Jitwam teams up with Mike Bloom for the sultry “Body Do” - reverb soaked keys and layered vocals create a smoky, heady atmosphere as intergalactic synth lines pierce the haze.
