Bonnie & Klein - Singularity/ Ergosphere

Greek duo Bonnie & Klein aka George & Thanasis have been
slowly making a name for themselves through a string of well
crafted releases on labels Music For Dreams, Timewarp and Uber.
Their style hasn't gone unnoticed by Ibizan legend Jose Padilla
who put their recent track 'Carina' on his latest compilation.
Bonnie & Klein are not only producers of the chillout sound as their debut for leng testifies. ´Singularity´ hits hard from the off with driving beats slowly building up with African sounding percussion until the flute comes in at the drop building it up to a slamming finale. A late night dancefloor classic in the making. ´Ergosphere´ sees them flip back to their laid back roots with a more classic chillout sound and tops off an excellent 12" for Leng.

Daniele Baldelli - Cosmic Drag

It is the essence of a music lover that swims in an ocean of sound since decades. Already in 1969 the Italian started spinning vinyl at the dawning of Djing - a time where he had no model to refer to and no mixing gear or listening device that helped him to find his very own way of spinning hot black wax.

While listening to the American djs Bob Day and Tom Sison at the legendary club Baia Degli Angeli in the early 1970ees. he understood what mixing means. Later he took over a residency at the so-called Italian "Studio 54" at the Adriatic cost and set its dancefloor on fire in order to sharpen his dj skills for a bigger mission to come.

When he changed the location 1979 and started a residency at the even

more legendary club Cosmic at Lake Laga, a place where avant-garde design and music should melt together to one big aesthetic blow, Baldelli started to free wheel and integrated a lot of Afro in his sets.

During his long spanning residency at Cosmic all music styles came together - from funky disco to electronic, reggae, fusion, rock, funk, Brasil or jazz. Baldelli wasn't afraid in fusing them and his sets start to be famous for their eclectic meltdowns ranging from Ravel's Bolero overlapping with a track by Africa Djola or an experimental piece by Steve Reich mixed together with a Malinke chant from New Guinea.

His experimental mixing style finally brought him stardom even thought he combined an extremely diverse range of genres, from European electronica and synth pop to African folk, Indian melodies, batucada, Kraftwerk, Fela Kuti and the German electronic sounds of SKY records - all often played at improper speed and mixed with effects and drum machines.

His worldly hypnotic sets that brought together the music of artists such as Killing Joke, The Incredible Bongo Band, Zaza, Chris And Cosey, Antena, Azymuth, Yellow Magic Orchestra and Yellowman finally fathered the cosmic sound - a highly influential musical movement that set itself

apart from the Italo disco scene.

Since then Baldelli's record bag stayed eclectic and he still plays scintillating sets all over the world.

His vinyl collection marks over 65.000 records and the essence of it paired with his long lasting dj experience can be felt in all his musical productions right up to his latest 12inch "Cosmic Drag" from last year.

It functioned as a foretaste for an album that now sees the light of the day under the same name.

The longplayer contains of all four 12inch tracks plus eight more stimulating hypnotic tunes that have nothing in common with trends. Instead they create their very own ones. They all spread deepness with diversified melodies, chords and rhythms. You can feel Baldelli's musical root Afro in tracks like "Chop and Roll". You can feel electro vibes as well as techno driven grooves. Sometimes the funk hits you hard while in the next moment you get blown away by futuristic soundscapes.

What all arrangements have in common is a cosmic dust that melts playful with highflying synth lines and outer space tones. A truly weird mesmerising record that stays appealing while experimenting profoundly. It has been produced within six month and it is based on Baldelli's very own musical ideas that he translated with a keyboardist into music.

"Most of my ideas emerge while travelling by train, driving my car to a club where I will perform and foremost when I devote myself to listen to my large vinyl collection" he explains about the inspiration for "Cosmic Drag".

A statement that explains why his brand new tracks often built a bridge between careless funky seventies vibes, offish eighties coolness and the freedom of the nineties rave culture while landing fresh and unafraid in the present. The title of his album is both program and message for music that carries you away like a steam train into spheres where you forget yourself between irresistible rhythms and melodies. If your ears are into dance music that catches its targets with musicality try "Cosmic Drag" and become hooked.

Gasoline 2x12"

2x12inchCOMEME026
CÓMEME RECORDS
11.08.2014

This double vinyl compilation is 100% dance floor approved by comemian DJs. Its tracks have been making the body mechanics work from Santiago de Chile to Cologne, from Tbilisi to Medellin, from Bucharest to Buenos Aires, from Cholula to Hollywood and back! The music was crafted by DJs from the "Inner Circle", meaning the likes of Christian S, Ana Helder, Alejandro Paz, Carisma and Djs Pareja, but also by some lovely guests we are welcoming here, for the first time:
Voxels from Lisboa, Portugal, Zombies In Miami from Aguascalientes, México, Auntie Flo from Glasgow, UK, Rous from Mendoza, Argentina, Vaskular from Santiago de Chile and Bryan Kessler from Cologne.
We start off with Auntie Flo from the label Huntleys + Palmers: Jas, a pounding slow jam featuring a rave signal that will make your speakers crackle and burn and your arms go up while your body goes down, down, down, to the rhythm... This one's followed by cologne based Bryan Kessler collaborating with Christian S (the man with the masterplan) They deliver Nebel Dance, an underground club track with shoulder shaking toms and foot stomping bass drum and bass, for those who love the silly grooves of nowadays Cologne! Switching to the next side, please welcome, again, Ana Helder, known to all hardcore comemists due to "El Groove de tu Corazón", "Beating PC" and more, this time with Gasoline a crazy teknotika uptempo gem feat. Ana singing: "I wanna smell - Gasoline! I wanna swallow - Gasoline!" On that same side of wax we got Vaskular from Santiago de Chile, with Black Jesus. Vaskular is a musician and DJ, belonging to that Santiago Underground crew of Discos Pegaos, vocals by Valesuchi.
Side C features a very special collaboration of Djs Pareja and Alejandro Paz, recorded at The District Union, Cómeme's own studio in Berlin. Alejandro's dark latin house inertia meets Pareja's psychedelic dance floor terror to shape this darkroom anthem, in which Mariano from Djs Pareja gets very explicit....
Another psychedelia momentum follows with Zombies in Miami, that gorgeous couple from Aguascalientes that travel the world on their Zombie mission, check out also their soon to be released cover version of Matias Aguayo's 'Las Cruces". Next track is a Remix done by Carisma from Buenos Aires (Cómeme 025) for Rous a young boy from Lujan, A Bailar, another of our pen drive's favorites who finally is making it into vinyl. Oh that electronic body bassline you'd like to wake up every morning with (in your parallel dark life) made it impossible to us not to appear here, and various are the moments and places where this bassline has made the cats give their bodies up to the music...
The two last tracks of Gasoline where provided by Voxels and Djs Pareja! K-Hauz by Voxels reminds us of our roots that shaped the house of Cómeme, that southern hemisphere grooves and that cutting rhythms that will make people dance in more surroundings than just the club...And we close the whole package with Si Señor, by Djs Pareja, which gives us a glance onto what the future brings...

Sonar Kollektiv
20.10.2014

When Sonar Kollektiv is presenting musical diggings you can be assured some real gems show up. And what a revelation is the Cosmic Disco by Venezuelan producer Daniel Grau! An elusive monographic showcase of his very productive creative period between 1978 and 1982 will be released as a double CD on the Berlin quality imprint later this year. Now, prior to the showcase compilation, a handful of selected remixes see the light of day - as a proof of how relevant Grau's music is still today. The opening of this firework is a real stunner on its own: One of the innovators of
Nu Disco, Daniel Wang himself, is returning after a brief sabbatical! Together with also Berlin based Jules Etienne (one half of Egyptian Nipples) Danny 'The Dancer' Wang takes two tracks of Daniel Grau's comprehensive
back catalogue to task. 'Robot Mágico' off the 1978 album 'El Sonido Magico De Daniel Grau' does sound in its reinterpretation by the two disco aficionados as if it was recorded just yesterday. In the same smooth and sophisticated way comes the renovation of 'Disco Fantasy' off the album of
the same name from 1979. Still, the Non Disco Remix somehow reminds of Wang's groundbreaking releases on Environ and is funky and catchy to such an extend that DJs probably would love to play it three times in a row. Well, the bar is set very high for the upcoming Daniel Grau remixes. But Sonar Kollektiv wouldn't be Sonar Kollektiv if you wouldn't already know
exactly that there are more hot irons in the fire.

Jose Padilla - Day One

Jose Padilla

Day One

12inchIFEEL039
International Feel
19.03.2015

Legendary is a much overused word in this day and age, but legend is a word that can easily be applied to DJ and producer Jose Padilla. Alongside DJ Alfredo of Amnesia, Jose Padilla gave birth to the other side of the Balearic coin - the mellow sunset side - and in turn influenced millions of people around the globe from Madonna to DJ Harvey, whether they saw him soundtrack the sunset or just bought one of his seminal Cafe Del Mar Compilations.

Padilla likes to move forwards and in the International Feel label he has found the perfect partner. After signing to the label in the winter of 2014, Padilla worked with label head and producer of note Mark Barrott, to create the slow balearic techno sounds of first single "Solito", which, complete with remixes from Wolf Müller, re-imagined his vision for new and old listeners alike. From this new beginning, the idea to work on his first album in 15 years was born, but the label wanted to do things differently. They took four of the finest producers of the moment - Wolf Müller from Germany, Mark Barrott from Ibiza, Telephones from Norway and Tornado Wallace from Australia - and flew them out to work with Padilla in Ibiza on the project. A global line up for a global sound.

The first fruits of these collaborations is the new single "Day One". Produced by Henning Telephones (Resident Advisor chose his recent Running Back release as one of their best of 2014), it mixes a classic balearic sound with the 'proper' deep house of Ron Trent and Chez Damier. Layers and washes of melodies running over deep beats....something that fits the sound of "now" perfectly.

If you ask Telephones why he wanted to work with Padilla he'll tell you, "As an eclectic and open-minded DJ myself, getting the opportunity to work with one of the pioneers of the Balearic sound and his approach to music didn't take much considering. Even with 30 years between us, we kinda come from the same place in a spiritual-musical sense. Plus getting the chance to put my pale Scandinavian feet on Ibiza-sand was a nice bonus. It was like being able to check out a place you remember, but only through second-hand memories. The scheduled time for the project would also fittingly conclude my perhaps most fantastic month ever, playing both Panorama Bar and Robert Johnson. So then going more or less straight to Ibiza for this project seemed like a perfect round-off to what had been a long and amazing summer for me. I also like and have a lot of respect for the uncompromising and decent way Mark runs International Feel. Him having Wolf Müller and Tornado Wallace also on-board, didn't exactly hurt either."

So this very much is "Day One". A new place for Jose Padilla working with the best of the new generation of producers and a new rebirth of the original Balearic sound - aware of its roots but pushing forwards. "Day One" indeed.

Jimpster - Porchlight And Rocking Chairs 2x12"

One of the UK's most established and consistent deep house producers, Jimpster, is due to drop his eagerly anticipated Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP on 20th May 2013. His first studio album in six years sees him continue where he left off on the 2006 masterpiece Amour by taking the blueprint of House music and infusing it with an attention to detail and musicality often lacking in much of today's more disposable dance music.
As Jimpster himself admits, much of the inspiration for Porchlight And Rocking Chairs came from the countless hours spent exhausted or hungover in airport lounges on the way back from gigs. It's during this early morning never never land that he would seek solace in his ipod or start creating tracks on his laptop. Anything too challenging or abstract would be an irritation. Anything too ambient could sedate to the point of missing flights. So normally it would be the kind of lo-slung, emotive, deep shit with enough groove to get into but also just the right amount of warmth and soul to keep spirits lifted in those tiring, and often solitary hours.
On returning to his studio we see Jimpster lean heavily on his hardware synths and drum machines, rediscovering their quirks and foibles after too many years working with convenient but sometimes sterile plugins. This hands on approach runs right through tracks such as Brought To Bare, featuring the vocals of Jonatan Bäckelie, where a simple, sparse and honest quality help make this one of the LP's highlights. Hold My Hand or Rollergirl show off Jimpster's innate talent for dubbed out, late-night deep house whilst elsewhere we find more raw and bass heavy downtempo tracks such as Cracks In the Pavement and The Glowing Embers. A true journey from start to finish, the LP draws to a close with an alternate LP version of Jimpster's recent single These Times featuring Beauty Room vocalist Jinadu. Here we see the producer incorporating acoustic guitar for the first time ever on a glitchy yet beautiful reworking of this future classic, making a fitting close to a fresh and forward-looking album from a long-standing yet still completely relevant artist.

The latest instalment in the channel xxx series comes from an act long associated with Golf Channel whose initials are MF - not too hard to guess who is behind this one really!
A side ' Rio' is a party favourite, the bastard son of pig bag and bow wow wow given a healthy dose and sent headlong into the madness of the music box & the paradise garage.
Larry & Ron would be proud!
B side 'Steel' is a darker, slower affair, the kind of edit that has you staggered that you've never heard such a great song before.
Deep and funky, it's a lost 80's classic that will see a lot of play in the last quarter of 2014.
If that wasn't enough this 12 comes with a free mix cd!

Ministry Of Sound - I Love House

When it comes to House, no one does it better than the pioneers of dance music, and after the huge success of Anthems House last year and the House That Garage Built which have sold over 180,000 copies between them it was only a matter of time before we infused the three biggest subgenres of House and combined them into the ultimate tracklist for any house enthusiast. This is 'I Love House'.

We kick off CD1 with the brand new Oliver Heldens Remix of Dr Kucho Feat. Ane Brun's - 'Can't Stop Playing' followed by huge chart topping artists, including Disciples, Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo, Blonde, Gorgon City, Disclosure, Gorgon City, Waze & Odyssey, Sam Smith, Storm Queen, Clean Bandit, Kiesza, The Magician, Route 94, Duke Dumont, Secondcity and Breach...... and that's just the first disc! In fact you'll be hard pushed to even find a track that wasn't a hit.

Moving into the second mix we deliver another stellar selection of club anthems from the likes of Tchami, Oliver Heldens, Mike Mago, Gorgon City and MK alongside some new names tipped for future house stardom including Ferreck Dawn & Redondo, Le Youth, Pep & Rash, Denney, Mercer, Redlight and loads more.

Of course no house journey would be complete without taking things down a notch with a selection of chilled house hits that have made huge waves this year. Sit back and enjoy tracks from Alex Adair, Bakermat, Robin Schulz, Ten Walls, Para For Curva, Mr Probz., Lily Wood, Wanklemut, Klingande, ZHU, Chris Malinchak, David Guetta and Watermat.

So the question to ask yourself is this, do YOU love House

Dj Rocca - Let's Go Party

After taking us on a drug chug at the start of the year DJ Rocca serves up 2 tracks for the next EDSC Release.

Lets Go Party kicks things off.... stabby chords, Roland percussion, catchy vocal shots, bass-line and massive E'd up breakdowns make this a must have slate for your box.

Th remix comes in the form of an Italo banger from a fave of the El Diablo's cartel - Brioski who goes straight for the heart of the dance floor and rips it right out.

Slumber slows the pace down a bit sounding like something from a late 70's Italian horror movie...pulsating chords & echoey piano reminiscent of Claudio Simonetti & John Carpenter.

El Diablo's Social Club remix stays in the same vein making making sparse use of the eerie piano whilst adding a chuggy bassline, heavy arps and some extra guitars courtesy of Crazy P's Tim Davies.

The Groove Brothers, AKA Jef K and Rhythm&Soul, keep things moving with the second release on their fledgling label, On A Mission Records. It's been seven months since the label's debut, demonstrating the duo's considered approach to their outlet, which has been set up to capture the true spirit of house music, basing its ideals on some of the industry's most respected labels and keeping that timeless, classic ethos alive. This second release unites the label owners with a couple of newcomers to the scene. Retaining the sultry outlook of the first release The Groove Brothers inject jazzy notes and smooth funky rhythms into their music, while Mr KS and Kub follow in a similar vein with their well-crafted contributions. KS expanding on the jazz theme, while Kub takes a more sensual pathway.

Mark E has a vivid imagination and everybody knows it. This is his first offering for the ESP Institute. Laurentian Abyss undoubtably conjures narrative images from the depths of a man's soul, trudging through an array of rhythmic pulse, percussion and arpeggiation that resembles the inner workings of a grandfather clock, based on a disorienting 5/4 timing yet culminating in a singular stroke. On the flip side, the title track Emergency begins with the formula for which we know Mark E best, the ultimate tease winding us up for the big payoff, yet here we're forced into a cyclical trance which diverts our attention so effectively that we never actually receive what we've been waiting for, Mark's elusive drop. When a limitless producer such as Mark E, who's spread his talents widely across the face of dance music, seeks a home away from home in the ESP Institute, we consider it an honor to open our doors and present works that stray from not only his celebrated repertoire, but from reality in general.

The Ep shows quite a trippy, clubby, tapey and yet unique touch on the usual Housey canvas that is been beaten to death lately.

These tracks offer a wide array of sounds. Side A starts with the definitive boogie stomping beat of Material World "Sweet Somebody" and its powerful soulful hooks, melting perfectly into the soundtrack vibes and 909 four to the floor pad driven track of new project Minimalafrica. Very reminiscent of a past that keeps crossbreeding into the future. Side B kicks things off nicely with the almost rockish, rumbly psychedelic bass lines of Robotalco. One of the most epic tracks so far. The mysterious Joe Molese closes the Ep with a poetic trip of SH-101, 303 and 909.

Cole Medina - Tropical Funk

Cole Medina turns up the disco heat in this latest release from FBNM, kicking things off with Tropical Funk, a pumped up instrumental disco odyssey ala Mike Theodore's Cosmic Wind. Fused with a sequenced bass groove and littered with funky percussive rhythms, brass flutters and stabs, he successfully paints a modern portrait of some classic moon boogie!

Bristolian newcomer Admin nudges up the pitch fader on his Tropical Funk remix edging the track further into house territory. He extends the bass and percussive rhythm sections retaining it's disco roots and perfects his version with a chunky acidic bassline breakdown that will really work your woofers.

Heading up the B side is Make Your Body Move, an up tempo electro boogie track reminiscent of the best Midnight Star, Complete with a vocoded chorus and male/female vocal trades! With early support from some of the edit scenes biggest players already, this plodding beast will not fail to do as intended!

Finally Cole brings us the soundtrack to the baddest bank heist that ever went down, the big one, the Grand Union Depository! Taking his samples from some rather obscure late 70s cosmic disco (clues to the track have already been mentioned), he works some real magic transforming them into Big Pimpin', a heavy hitting slow mo funk groove ready to make you feel just like the meanest son of a gun that you really are...

The Kenneth Bager Experience - Follow The Beat Lp Sampler 2

Second in a series of vinyl samplers of forthcoming album 'Follow The Beat' from Music For Dreams' head honcho Kenneth Bager and his band The Experience, with remixes this time from Sweden's Prins Emanuel and Poland's Ptaki. First comes 'Amazing' featuring vocals from Damon C Scott from Storm Queen. The clever use of the gospel sample combined with real live strings, children's choir, funky piano, strumming guitars and that soulful voice makes this a real winner with huge crossover potential. Next up is a remix from Prins Emanuel, head of Fasaan Recordings and well-known for his brilliant 'Hidden Love' EP from last year with Golden Ivy. Here he supplies a spaced out dub of "Biological Bread", rolling african beats, drum machines, chants and dub noises into something that sounds like a lost afro tape - a killer remix aimed squarely at the more openminded with a love of obscure oddities! Side B opens with a beautiful ambient remix of "Sunshine Stereo" from Ptaki - birds and frogs, repeated synths, rhythm guitars, smooth pianos, and distant bongos turn the track into an atmospheric almost new age sunset builder full of emotion. Last but not least is the album version of "Mexican Wings". Again featuring Damon C. Scott on vocals, this energetic studio jam boasts a monster groovy baseline, plus mad mouth-organ solos mixed with cosmic Compass Point style live keyboards - a freaky and soulful affair that you could imagine Larry Levan dropping in the morning at Paradise Garage. Another essential package from Copenhagen's Music For Dreams.

Martin Brodin Feat. Mikael Surdi - Dont Stop The Dance

Martin Brodin is on fire. Another fine example of how you can adopt the old sound with a more current one. Here he took on Bryan Ferry's classic from 1985 with a deep sensual Nu-disco vibe. On vocal, Martin invited Mikeal Surdi (one of the guys from Swedish Deep House legends Physics) for making this track the special one it is.
The original is taken from his debut album, Bla Bla Bla, released in April this year.
On same side we add added the dub-mix for you non-vocal people.

On the flipside we have the stellar Austrian producer, LeSale. High acclaimed for his releases on Vienna label, Luv Shack Records. We're totally blown away when we heard his infectious Deep House Dub. It has everything you'll ever need to get in a perfect mood. The cool thing is, it fits both the dance floor and any other environment. Simply put, THE PERFECT TRACK.

What could be better than finsihing it up with Norwegian, Ytre Rymden Dansskola The duo of Jarle Bråthen and Marius Våreid, have created a name for themeselves with releases on Prins Thomas label Full Pupp. Here they adopted the original and stepped on the funk-o-meter. Rhythmic, funky and groovy are the words to describe the remix best.

Bjorn Torske - Trobbel

Smalltown Supersound is proud to announce that it is re-issuing the Holy Grail of Norwegian dance music, the first two albums by reclusive cult innovator from beyond the Arctic Circle Bjørn Torske.

With the Norwegian disco movement having given birth to many international dance stars, now is a perfect time to go back and re-evaluate these brilliant records, that provided the inspiration for a wave of producers in their wake. With all of Torske's album discography now with their natural home Smalltown Supersound, the label can finally feel complete.

Debut album 'Nedi Myra' was first released on UK label Ferox and his second album 'Trøbbel' originally came out on Telle Records. They have been out print for many years and have not been distributed on any digital streaming sites. Now lovingly re-mastered by Helmut Erler at Dubplates & Mastering, for the first time Bjørn feels that they sound as he intended them to sound.

Together with the late Tore 'Erot' Kroknes, Bjørn laid the foundation for the disco scene in Norway that gave birth to Prins Thomas, Lindstrom, Andre Bratten and Todd Terje. Inspired by DJ Harvey, Ron Hardy and Idjut Boys, Bjorn Torske and Erot brought underground disco and house/techno (Chicago/Detroit style) to the country, developing their very own style of tripped out dubby disco with their characteristic weird, humorous and psychedelic twists along the way. With Torske as with many auteurs, he hasn't always got the attention and credit he deserved. He is known for being reclusive, and an outsider, making music on his own terms and not playing by the rules of the record business. All of which has made him the musician's musician.

Torske's debut album under his own name was 'Nedi Myra' in 1998 on UK label Ferox. After that he released a string of singles with Svek label, among them the seminal 'Jeg vil være søppelmann'. That translates to 'I Want To Be A Binman' in English, which shows who set the tone for Norwegian disco's particular sense of humour. Also on Svek was the single 'Sexy Disco'; cited by Todd Terje as 'the first time I listened to disco in a non-ironic way'. "Trøbbel" was released in 2001 and in 2005 he signed to Smalltown Supersound and released the two 12' singles 'Kokt Kveite' and 'Ny lugg/Kort bak lang på siden' and the albums 'Feil Knapp' (2007) and 'Kokning' (2009). In 2010 he released 'Oppkok' 12' which was remixed by DJ Harvey and Todd Terje, and last year the 'Kok'

EP with additional material from the 'Kokning' album sessions.

Get to know the production genius of Norwegian disco's original Wilderness man.
