Hailing from Florida, the Brookside imprint have dug deep into the master tapes and let NYC master-mixer Mike Maurro loose on a couple of stone cold classics! Maurro, a Queens based DJ and mixer since 1986 has become one of the top remixers out there today with his own, faithful takes on numerous dance classics from the last 30+ years. Here he lends his magic touch to a pair of well loved club classics while adding his own original flavour. Dan Hartman's "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" is up first on side-A, featuring the unmistakable vocals of NYC diva Loleatta Holloway. Maurro's mix brings the vocals in earlier, dubbing them out creating a super trippy atmosphere with a slightly different musical arrangement over the course of almost 14 minutes! On side-B, we have the legendary Evelyn "Champagne" King's "Shame", with a slightly longer, beat led intro for the DJ's. A true extended mix with a slightly different arrangement Maurro's mix of this classic is a killer. Beautifully faithful and mixed with love and an understanding of the dancefloor and the classics! Since LAARS epic crowdsurfing days touring with his former disco-band Tôg, LAARS has been honing his production skills with more metric music inspired by the classic godfathers Patrick Crowley and Giorgio Moroder for Lysår/None 12". Making playful, percussive house music with a disco heart is one of LAARS` passions that comes into play on this 12.Sampling hits from his favorite records, sweeping filters, playing on his juno 60 and having his band mates come in to play percussion and synthesizers over some of his grooves you can hear how much fun they´ve been having making the record. The mysterious Willy Nickersen has remixed the songs into deeper territories complementing the record making it able to lift dance floors across the globe.

Kat Records reach the ripe ol' age of 30 with the 3rd instalment of reworks by all round super ace guy Jonny Miller.

Those of you out there of a certain vintage will not need any intro to Half A Minute - A guilty pleasure to some, with nowt to be feeling guilty about. Last up we have Orere-Elejigbo which is mid-tempo afro-Balearic gem and again, a rework rather than your bog standard edit.

top-notch package of 16 brand-new tracks by their main artists including
John Talabot, Tuff City Kids, Mano Le Tough, Tensnake, Red Axes, Pional
and many more. Plus special guest Joakim, who contributed the track
'Camino De La Luna'; paying homage to his classic remix for Antena's
'Camino Del Sol', the first big hit on the label 10 years ago.

But let's look back for a minute, because a lot has happened since Tom
Bioly and Benjamin Fröhlich dusted off the mirror balls in Munich. Since the
1970s the city always had a reputation for being one of the world's disco
capitals and Permanent Vacation took good care of this precious heritage
being partly responsible for the new found love of Disco music and its
variations such as BALEARIC, COSMIC, KRAUTROCK or PROTOHOUSE.
Back then Tom, who for several years had been working in the music
business, was a regular at Play Records that was run by Benjamin, who
had also been busy as a DJ and party promoter. Soon they became friends
and discovered their astoundingly similar taste in music. The label name
PERMANENT VACATION also reflects the way the label came into
existence, since the its main concept was developed during pingpong
matches rather than at a conference table.
Already their first release, a compilation of the same name—'PERMANENT
VACATION'—, was celebrated as 'razor-sharp, pulsating, pornographic, all
fuses opening crazy pop' by one of Germany's leading daily newspaper
Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Taking off from here Permanent Vacation managed to become one of the
flagships of the new movement and had several genre-defining hits with the
reissue of Antena's classic "Camino del Sol" album (even the Pet Shop
Boys claimed it as an influence) and the accompanying remixes.
Next up was the album "Miss Diamond to you" by singer Kathy Diamond,
produced by the wild boogie wizard Maurice Fulton. This album was
followed by multiple releases worth mentioning, many of which can be
called modern day disco classics by now: Tensnake's 'Coma Cat', which
entered the UK top 40, Azari & III 'Reckless with your love', albums by
Swedish Italo princess Sally Shapiro and by Vienna heartthrob Wolfram,
Jacques Renault's remix of Midnight Magic's 'Beam Me Up', 40 Thieves
'Don't turn it off', Todd Terje's 'Remaster of the Universe remix collection'

ELEGANT DIVIDE are Peter Oldroyd and Samantha Gare, based in London UK.Formed in 2014 ELEGANT DIVIDE combines the talents of classically trained vocalist Samantha Gare and electronic pop music pioneer Peter Oldroyd. Peter is a well-known mix engineer and record producer, and best known for his 1980's experimental synth pop band Camera Obscura. Samantha, trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, has experienced chart success before and lends her distinctive voice to the project. ELEGANT DIVIDE expresses the dichotomy of dark and light in electronic music with songs that explore lyrically the emotions of urban living. With the use of vintage synthesisers (Moog Prodidy / Source, Novation Bass Station, Nord Lead 2, Paia Fatman, Polyfusion Modular, Yamaha DX7) and drum machines (Roland TR-909 / TR-808 / TR-707 / TR-505, Yamaha RX17) their sound is rich and analogue, and Samantha's cool vocal delivery creates a mood that is simultaneously accessible pop and dark and haunting.

To wrap up 2016, True Romance unleashes one more disco stunner. This time the fabulous three tracks 12" comes from the classically trained yet funky to the bone: Phil Gerus. The Russian producer has been a rising force of the modern disco movement with releases on Futureboogie, Sonar Kollektiv, Thugboat Edits to name a few. The Make Time EP, his first offering on True Romance, confirms Gerus is here to stay. The A side, She Is Wearing Her Black Boots Again, is meant to played very loud and very late in a dark smoke-filled room. It's a raw thumper with a thick post-disco bass line, robotic italo synth, dreamy chopped up vocals all layered with catchy mysterious chords. The flipside starts with the irresistible Make Time, a groovy number with loopy funk guitars, soulful vocals and infectious keys that will stick to you like glue. For the grande finale, Gerus serves us Detective From Kamakura: a gritty electronic funk track with banging percussions and delirious moans that will keep you awake until the break of dawn.

Irish label Fatty Fatty spreads its wings with their 'International Disco Mafia' EP.
Extending from Dublin out to Drogheda and Galway and onward overseas, the EP provides something peak-time for all tastes.

The lead off track sees label top dog Pablo going off on a solo tip, delivering an end of nighter take on an eternal UK street Soul classic. Chopping together many different mixes to create an epic whole, this one has been road-tested thoroughly, and always brings the house down.

While Pablo was fiddling around endlessly with that one, usual production partner Shoey slithered off with newcomer Kellser to produce a dreamy, stretched out take on a late 70's staple , another guaranteed winner, and possibly the most bliss inducing song ever to run at 130BPM

The international part of the EP comes from Italian edit king Belabouche, who delivers a lovely take on 'Willie and The Hand Jive'.
Last but not least, Galway boy Island Time makes his bow with a straight up, brassy slice of soulful Disco aimed straight at the dancefloor...

Debbie's Groove sees Carl Taylor in full on jacking mode, with tinges of disco and a stomping beat that will see you heading straight for the nearest dancefloor. Robert Hood turns his hand to Debbie's Groove adding that magic touch, with a deep bassline, funky claps and a vocal snippet that echoes his Floorplan sound alongside the tougher tech workouts we're used to hearing from this master technician. Good Vibrations gives us a deeper blend of the house meets techno sound that Carl has become known for, with its tough syncopated groove reaching dizzying heights.

'Make It Funky' is an edit / rework of Rim and Kasa 'Love Me For Real' taken from the sought after 1982 12" 'Too Tough' on Sum Sum Records. Alkaline has toughened it up in the percussion section to enhance the serious pig skin workout that drives this Afro Boogie bomb... And the vocals will have the dance floor shouting out in unison...'Drums of Kenya' is a heavy disco inspired African cut destined for heavy dancefloor action which as the title says, 'Drums of Kenya', 7+ minutes of percussion heaven that will work the dancers hard. The version cuts the chaff from the original cut, 'Shining Star' by The Stranger which was released on Unidisc out of Canada in 1979 and
go straight for the jugular with the incredible conga workout.
'Lion of Zimbabwe' is a gentle touch up of Butsu Mutandarika by Thomas Mapfumo & The Blacks Un-limited featuring Jonah Sithole with added percussion to underpin the whole track and looping up the solid African groove, this will work wonders on the right floors...

Limited repress of the desperately cool super hip post punk mega rarity. With different label so it's different from the first pressing.

The first trunk repress of this classic lost post punk single was way back in 2010. They all sold very fast. The original 7' then shot to £500+ if you can ever find one. And the Trunk 12' repress is now about £50. Three record companies approached Trunk in the last month to repress it, but it was easier just to repress this classic 12' with the original version, a radio edit and three further edits from various underground superstars.

Jive baby On A Sturday Night' is incredibly hooky. It was originally played by John Peel back in the day, but as a privately pressed record with no distribution apart from being carried about ina sprts holdall, it sold just 30 copies.

Rediscovered by Thurston Moore in 2009, this super hip single is now back out with the full original version plus edits and mixes by Lemon Jelly's Fred Deakin, Tommy Stupid and Georges Vert, AKA the Advisory Circle.

More than simple out-takes, these 3 pieces formed their own unique setting and were deliberately separated as the recording process came to a close and often appeared in his recent live shows. A conscious decision was made that this 'set' should appear together and therefore, represent a link between what has gone before and what lies ahead.From the first looped vocal / stuttering percussion that works across the ambience of Music Removed, a deeper compulsion is apparent. Cascading spoken samples and introspection that drift, swirl and merge infinitely.
Patterns follows, embedding a love of the fourth world with melancholic yearnings that rise and fall as a quickly as memories.
Vexillations completes the piece. Intense percussion and sensuous chime loops create distance to previous work. Modulating and meditative, an almost architectural structure appears from the dense sequencing and reverberations.
What forms Gary Caruth will explore next are unclear, but the existential wonder of his mysterious sound-scapes and tone make for a celestial journey.

Following on from the success of their first EP on Wah Wah 45s, released earlier this year, South London Afro-dub warriors Soothayers return with a myriad of remixes from some of the UK's finest producers, and some of their most talented friends and family.

Lead track from their previous EP, Blinded Souls, gets a foursome of very different re-works. South coast dance floor destroyer Titeknots follows up his energetic remix for Dele Sosimi with more bass worrying tropical house mayhem, hugely influential producer from the Worldwide Family, SMBD AKA Simbad, provides both a classic disco-house mix and a subversive rolling future Warrior Dub interpretation, and very much part of the family, Miles Wu-Lu (son of Soothsayers front man Robin Hopcraft) comes through with a throbbing Afro-electronica gem of a remix.

Elsewhere, magnificent club-jazz workout Eagle Song is transformed into a meditative 115bpm electronic beauty for the more discerning dance floor by Albert's Favourite Deoke, AKA Dave Koor, and the righteous Refugee is served with a suitably sultry dub from Resonators producer Darren Jamtone.

Add to that an instrumental, percapella, radio edit and dub of the Titeknots mix and a bonus dub of Roll River Roll and you've got one rather hefty package!

This time with the tropically-balearic EP by Moscow debutant Aleceo , who has changed his organised top-manager, live with a slow 808 tempo, Juno chords and microphone in the studio on the beach of magic island of Bali. With the magnetic remix, by Tokyo based maestro Max Essa, this pacific jam becomes a perfect, vinyl only slice of endless summer.

12" + 16-page melozine

A few years ago, Melodies family members Floating Points and DJ Red Greg got their hands on a couple of original 70s obscurities. While these standout records shone brightly in their own right, the two DJs saw the potential to create their own edits behind the scenes, finely attuning the original versions to modern-day dancefloor standards. Of these new recordings, they cut only five copies for themselves and a few DJ friends of theirs. Today, Melodies International is very proud to bring you MEL006 and MEL007. Fully licensed, lovingly mastered to the highest possible standards and carefully edited to dial up that dancefloor enjoyment, these two 'You're A Melody' classics weren't originally meant to get official releases. But due to popular request, they are now available to play and share in very special moments at parties around the world. MEL7, Maurice Moore's ethereal Hammond bass soul anthem 'Everything That Shines Ain't Gold", is pressed as a 12-inch, with parts 1 and 2 from the original 7-inch merged on one side, and the FP edit on the flip. A multi-instrumentalist, the talented Moore grew up in Chicago listening to music from the local scene, including the likes of Etta James, Boe Diddly and Chuck Berry. Unable to pay for guitar lessons, Moore learned what a major, a minor and a 7th chord were from his uncle and went from there. After opening for legendary acts such as James Brown, Parliament, Funkadelic and Kool & the Gang, Moore and his band went on to record their debut album in 1976 before he took a back seat in the 80s to focus on the business side of things

Jarle Bråthen from Ytre Rymden Dansskola with yet another hot outing on yours truly, Full Pupp. Deep relaxed Grooving, 'Norway Cool' Disco /House with a fantatsic relaxed Pianohook contered by finelky crafted string twirls (Flott Vaer) and huge motoric bass (Warm Warmer Disco). Tempting and tentalising modern bliss! Remixes by Magnus International and Thomas & you bet they are no less bad. At all.

Despite a discography that stretches right back to the late noughties, little is known about Turkish producer Ali Kuru. Perhaps he's publicity shy, or simply wants to let his music do the talking; either way, the music he makes is magical, and undoubtedly worthy of wider acclaim. Kuru came to the attention of Leng late last year, releasing the Luna 12' his frst vinyl release for six years - in January 2016. That EP boasted two typically exotic and fragrant tracks, both of which effortlessly joined the dots between dub disco, hazy house, gentle downtempo movements and snaking, Middle Eastern instrumentation.
Here, the Istanbul native further explores his unique musical perspective, serving up a quartet of tracks that eschew easy categorization. Twittering birds, throbbing dub basslines, crisp hip-hop beats, trippy vocal samples, and distant chimes combine on the moody 'Mandari', while 'Causa' peppers a jangling, acoustic guitar-laden loop-groove with futtering futes, deep space electronics and rolling hand percussion.On the fip, his more exotic musical inspirations return to the fore. There's 'Zurna' - the musical equivalent of a panicked dash through a bustling late
night market full of drunken jazz drummers, metronomic groove merchants and snake-charming pungi players - and the low-slung stomp of 'Avaz'. Here, sampled vocal chants and Bollywood-inspired instrumentation wind their way around a rubbery bassline and handclap-heavy rhythm track. If
there was such a thing as Turkish-Hindi jazzdance - and maybe there should be - then this would be a guaranteed foorfller.
All four tracks offer further glimpses into Ali Kuru's fertile imagination. It's the perfect teaser for the Turkish producer's debut album, which will be released by Leng in early 2017.

Recently he has been experimenting further in the studio and is ready to present his first 12inch in few years, under a brand new alias - Astrocat.In this debut, self-titled EP it is instantly apparent that vocoder-infused funk and disco of the highest order can be expected from this new Astrocat guise. The EP is full of vintage talk box vocals, warm spacey chords and infectious basslines that bring classic records from the likes of Zapp and The Rah Band into mind.With 5 tracks this EP has a lot to offer. Wether it be the raw, funked up james of the opener 'Small Talk' and title track 'Astrocat' or the more chilled, woozy grooves of 'Nightflare'. With features from Mr Woodnote and a dub remix from Appleblim this EP's roots sit firmly in the South West. Local legend DJ Die even lent his vocoder to the studio for some of the recordings.

Its been 12 months since Cin Cin's inaugural release and to celebrate co founder Fort Romeau give us 2 cuts of arpeggiohouse ready for the dance floor while Honey Sound System's Bezier delivers that top tier Hi NRG sound that has become his signature. Not a bad way to mark our first birthday!

With the label's 10th anniversary celebrations now done and dusted, Claremont 56 returns to action with something rather special: a magical debut single from a previously unknown talent.
There's not much we can tell you about Ferdi Schuster, other than that he is a talented young producer from Augsburg in Germany. As Claremont 56 is one of his favourite labels, he speculatively submitted some tracks for consideration. Label founder Paul Murphy was astonished by what he heard and believes the two tracks showcased on this 12' are amongst the best things the label has released for some time.
A-side 'Little River' is breathtakingly good. Opening with the sound o a babbling brook, it sees Schuster wrap plucked, sun-kissed acoustic guitar licks and jaunty vintage synthesizer motifs around a languid, samba-infuenced groove. As the track progresses, further magical musical elements come to the fore, including blissful electric piano solos and more mazy synthesizer solos, seemingly played on battere old equipment from the turn of the '80s. Schuster's love of the acoustic guitar is explored further on similarly impressive B-side 'Befreit'. Here, gently strummed chords and fuid Spanish guitar motifs catch the ear, as hushed cymbals and gentle hand percussion lap at your feet like the sea at sunrise. The German producer adds atmosphere through a combination of leisurely Hammond organ solos and a touch of Jew's Harp. When all of these immaculate elements combine, the results are little less than spellbinding.
Schuster may be taking his frst steps into releasing music, but his
compositional, playing and production skills are already fnely tuned. We can surely expect to hear more inspired music from him in the years to come.

The first 12' starts with the jazz-infused, catchy groove of 'World', definitely a winner for your demanding dancefloor. On B side we find 'Bibi's Groove' a relentless african rarity stripped to its tight elements, followed by 'So In Loop', an irresistibly soulful tune extended for maximum pleasure, we can already imagine several nights closing with a tune like thi ! All tracks have been carefully edited without overdubs, in order to bring the spirit of classic disco manipulators to today's dancefloors ! Light Touches Records is devoted to shed a new light to hot rarities, unknown grooves as well as forgotten classics.

Produced by Mike Misiu who has also been responsible for a slew of anonymous underground releases and edits over the last few years as well as being one half of Londons Cut the Rug party crew. We first heard Bill Brewster drop "Do what you need" at the last ever Lowlife party and managed to track Mike down. The Loose change Project mixes raw soul warmth with ananlog grit and a dub aesthetic.

Most Excellent Unlimited's series of 45s celebrating the 45th year of Danny Krivit's career continues with a blast of two heavyweight cuts that, to borrow the parlance of the era from which they came, are bonafide Sure Shots. Wood, Brass & Steel's "Funkanova," a jazz-funk masterpiece and Loft classic that was liberally sampled in the house world (Black Science Orchestra, Terrence Parker, the Bucketheads), is pared down to its most joyous elements. From the intro, a typical Krivit maestro's detail of an opening bass slide prefacing hands-in-the-air cascades of iconic horns and keys, to the echo of the last notes, it's a perfect edit immaculately tailored for DJ usage.

The flip delves deeper into New York City dance history with a rough and rugged beat- down of a proto-disco, b-boy classic: Boobie Knight & the Universal Lady's "Sex." Displaying his usual knack of going straight for the jugular, Krivit takes the song's siren-call-to-the-dance floor horn riff as his starting point, peeling off another layer to the floor-shaking bass and drums before bringing it all back to the top with a perfectly placed drum roll that will have Flash disciples fiending for doubles.

Solidifying this blazing double-sider is the fact that neither of these essential cuts has ever appeared in seven-inch form. Another Most Excellent Unlimited sure shot!

Nu Era delivers another dose of Deep-Soulful Techno produced by Marc Mac. This Detroit style 4 track EP is backed with genre-fused science, analogue machines woven together by chords, melodies and beats we've come to expect from Nu Era, at times the string laden 4hero sound is synonymous throughout the four tracks and although synthetic still full of emotion. The Vinyl release is a lovely transparent red and an animated label design is a nice bonus, limited to 300 copies.

With artists like DJ Nature and Admin taking Boogie Café's "Black" series on a deep house ride, it was high time we brought you the second in our "Neon" series... focusing on new, hot-of-the-press, original disco, rising star Saucy Lady drops a brand new Boogie Banger on you with "Together"; An up-tempo percussion heavy disco treat with U-Key in the mix.
On the flip, Keyboard impresario E. Live goes to work with a sweet and jazzy remix, the way only he knows how. Finished off with an Instrumental to wind the EP to close.

Its been a year or two since we featured a 12" single release from a new project. So hear at Bearfunk we are really pleased to be releasing a cracker of a track. "Gong Bong". It is from The Caribbean House who are a new(ish) Italian collective based around the core members of Billy Bogus & Ferderico Bologna.

The original is one part slo-mo disco, one part psychedelic moondance and one part sci-fi horror movie. The track begins with swirling bass guitar and grinding synth before layering on a waft of sound effects and spooky keys. If the first two thirds of the track is a caterpillar then the last third is a butterfly as uplifting riffs and swirls of layered keys bring things to a crescendo.

Fellow Italians The Mushrooms Project are up on remix duty first of all. They strip back the layers and concentrate on the growling bass and locked on pulsating synth. Its back to the UK for the second remix where label honcho Stevie Kotey gets his percussion out for a drum, timpani and swing remix.

Emotional Rescue starts its 5th year by shining a light on one of Europe's best underground 80s' label in Spain's Auxilio De Ciento. Their Terra Incognita Volumes I and II collated an international mix of synth-pop, new wave, world and industrial sounds to a small but appreciative following. Released in 1985 and 1986, the Volumes have become highly regarded and rightly sought after, finding a place in discerning playlists from London to Amsterdam and Dusseldorf to Glasgow. Here, taking a premise of avoiding the songs unearthed on other recent reissues, is a unique album itself. Starting with Denis Mpunga & Paul K's esoteric Criola, a fusion of fourth world ideals and poly-rhythmic funk. The music of Mal, Bene Gesserit and La Caida De La Casa Usher, however, soon highlight that the decade also belonged to dark, minimal synth as to shiny balearic ideals. The inclusion of Hector Zazou with Bony Biyake and their contribution Komba, is a fitting continuation from their cult Noir Et Blanc LP before, things continue with US avant-artist Danny Alias and his humorous Big Brother "response" to Laurie Anderson's Superman O. Image Pour Image loose indie-pop and the inclusion of seminal Beast Of Burden lead again to a Zazou contribution, this time in his collaborative Stranger In A New Light, before the compilation eclectically ends with the dadaesque Lakota and the post punk dub of Instead Of's closer, Angels .
