Toby Tobias - The Rain Ep (inc. Nebraska Remix)

Toby Tobias joins Delusions again for what will be his sixth(!) 12' entitled The Rain. The prolific Londoner whose releases have graced such venerable labels as Rekids, ESP Intistute and Let's Play House, is back with a vengeance, delivering two mighty fine originals plus a remix from Nebraska.
In true Toby Tobias style, The Rain got made on an MPC, sliced and edited from a single live take through the desk then accidentally deleted so no further mixing, sequencing or editing could be carried out. But what is an A&R man's nightmare, turns out to be the record buying DJ's gain, as the improvised, dubby vibe and raw as ***k mixdown give the track an authentic feel and energy which could only come from the madness in Toby's method. Fresh from his brilliant releases on Mister Saturday Night and Razor n Tape, we have our man Nebraska do his thing on the remix of The Rain. Dropping down the BPM's a bit from Toby's more frenetic original, Nebraska add's a healthy dose of moogy lead lines to the lo-slung house
groove, perfect for warming up the dancefloor. Closing this release we have New Way Of Feeling which sees Toby in
playful mode with a percussion heavy, driving basement jam. FM pads form the centerpiece of the track whilst flourishes of Juno come and go, hints of early 90's IDM shining through on the glistening sine-wave melodies. All in all a glorious melting pot of ideas and influences all over this release which make for one of his strongest yet for Delusions

Alma Negra - Endless Summer Ep

It's safe to say this release marks Heist's most international endeavor so far: next up we've got Alma Negra, 4 guys with roots in Portugal, Cabo Verde, Italy and Spain, hailing from Switzerland. They're putting out an African influenced EP with German Detroit afficionado Soulphiction involved for a remix. Afro lovers will probably know Alma Negra because of their great work on Highlife, Sofrito or Basic Fingers and we've been in touch with them for a long time to make this release happen. Their 3 originals are a great showcase of their skills; blending traditional African music with contemporary house and techno. 'Afrorleans' is a track with Fela's footprint all over it. They serve a lovely Rhodes jam over a classic Nigerian afrobeat, subtly supported by sparse electronic percussion giving room for the keys and afro drums to really shine. Meanwhile 'Luanda dub' is another beast altogether. As a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Lamento style from Luanda, this track is a gloomy techno workout with some killer bottom end, getting nice and trippy with dubbed out guitars, spacey vocals and tribal percussion. On the flip, we've got both versions of 'Endless summer', closing the EP on a light and mellow note. Alma's original leans heavy on indeed 'endless summer-y' Rhodes keys, filtered wahwah's and African chants. Soulphiction does well in keeping the cheery vibe alive, but adds some serious grunts with his percussion and a killer bassline. With these fantastic guys as our second release of this year, and knowing what is still to come, I'm sure all of you will keep on listening to anything we send your way. Thanks for doing so. Your Sincerely, Maarten & Lars.

Feater - Remix Ep

Remix EP of great but Massively Overlooked Debut Album by Vienna Based Band Feater. Somehow The City´s Answer to Italians Do it Better! Remixes by Tuff City Kids, Giuseppe Leonardi, Ruutu Poiss

It has not taken long for International Major Label to shake the next pearl out of the console: a sparkling spherical, retro-futuristic wink of the eye in which three spiritual brothers have joined their musical hands together in the airwaves with label head, Daniel Meuzard aka Feater, and two of the top notch remixers around : Tuff City Kids with Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer. Their extraterrestrial instinct and a kilometer-long discography justifies developing dedicated schools of philosophy. But after 30 seconds at the latest when the bass line rocks through the kicks and congas, the - Bright White Shoes' remix unfolds a magical attraction as if from another galaxy. With the smash hit - Digital Love', the remix seems to rise almost lethargically above the mist of night. The upcoming Viennese Wunderkind, Guiseppe Leonardi, rumbles through the catacombs between slow-tech and calimba. As expected for an underground producer, nothing is known about this gentleman; only that for months, he has been releasing dope tracks into the world and will finally give his official debut in October - on International Major Label. Preorder! It is difficult to reach a fitting end for this release, unless done by Ruutu Poiss, aka Jan Tomson. This hyped-up multi-talent, (Denkmantel Set 2017 & 12' release on Jon Rust's Levels) conjures up a mysterious and playful odysee with Feater's - Birds' and meanders between Düsseldorf, London and Detroit. Tomson is not only a gifted producer but also one of the most important designers in Estonia and responsible for the IML logo and diverse IML covers.

Jamie Paton - Remixes

After a couple of releases for the label, including notable remixes, plus the excellent recent 7 for Hoga Nord Rekords, Jamie returns to warm glow of Especial for a collective vinyl only EP of 4 unreleased remixes brought together for limited release.

Opening is his dark, brooding rework of See You In The Dark from Sexy Merlin's 2012 cassette only release Heater. Taking the 2mins + plus original and feeding it through modular and space echo environs, this long form remix has been alighting dance floors whenever aired. Throbbing bass and phased, twisted vocals pull the track deeper, all with that neu-wave touch that has become Jamie's hallmark whether sought or not!

Next Jamie turns to the Eastern melodies of Guy Schalom. The drummer and percussionist first came in to Paton's orbit via his partnership within Cage & Aviary and his remix here strips the original to his affinity with dub and bass. Horns rise and fall, driven by snare and guitar in a unique reversion of a version in the truest (es)sense. Roots and vulture y'all.

The B-side heads back deep with his wonderful remix of Gatos Negros's Overdrive. Taken from the bands 7th Life album on Spain's Rotten City, the interplay with arpeggio, bass and vocals shows why Jamie has his own unique following.

Closing the EP sees a return to a relationship first seen via Cage & Aviary's remixes of Blancmange in 2014. A mutual admiration achieved, the band requested a special remix of their rerecorded 1982 classic Feel Me. Jamie rebuilds the track with a nod to it's past, his own sound and also, as a final homage to nights remembered at the Brixton HQ years of World Unknown, where the original was such a highlight. Here comes a love song

Oli Furness - Middle Ground Ep

Music is Love boss returns to his home label after a few brief excursions on Hot Creations & Viva Music last year, and he returns in style. 3 summer time slammers and a stella remix from the Mak & Pasteman boys. Middle Ground is a dusty filtered house track, aligned with a soaring string section, which narrate the warm uplifting journey this track lays down. Mandingo was made as a tool for Oli s sets last summer and after some huge reactions and some serious demand, Mandingo was set for a vinyl release. Big stabs and plenty of funk this track is party ready. On the flip we find Mak & Pasteman return to Music is Love after an appearance on the 3rd LOVEBOX VA in 2016. Piano4 is flipped into what these boys do best, Simple stripped back grooves delivered with stupendous power. On B2 is the original take on Piano4 which sees Oli flexing his power house muscles on this big piano track. Piano4 is an unrelenting beast that twists and turns its way through various passages of maximum intent.

Portamento Boys - Never Koos This Life

Quartet Series is back with the Bodybuilder Series after Scott Franka's popped the new offshoot's cherry in the spring. For this sophomore release, Nachtbraker sourced some serious production talent from Eindhoven, The Netherlands. While it's the Portamento Boys' first ever release, they have the chutzpah to go full-frontal Italo and pull it off with great panache with a moody and energetic EP. The record is characterized by catchy melodies, quirky vibes and warm analog grooves. Connoisseurs will instantly recognize the TR-606 and 707, SH-101, Ensoniq Esq1 and a Casio CZ-3000. The Italo express jets off and takes no prisoners with 'Been There Come Back", a banging workout paying homage to the glorious 80's. Shoulder-pad boogie anyone 'Portamento 101 feels like you're playing the 1986 version of Outrun on your Sega. On the flip 'Final Dinner' serves up some fine Asian-Italian fusion Cuisine, and finally the P Boys drop 'Eighty Ain't", acknowledging that even though the tracks are clearly inspired by the 80s, they didn't just emulate, but innovate instead. Now let's introduce the Portamento Boys. Some say it al began when the first episode of 'Jacques, zo is het wel weer genoeg geweest' was aired on the Dutch box back in the second half of 1988. Others say it was the respect he got for robbing the local Albert Heijn with the famous saying, 'Hallo, Jumbo' that made him end up in solitary confinement. His colleagues say he never let go of Piet, his last undercover assignment. But the only one to help him in these times of mental distress, identity crises and general psychosomatic turmoil was Koos. After all these years there is a mantra to find in Piet's life that keeps him going.

One year on since their last venture as Black Spuma on International Feel, Fabrizio Mammarella, also known as Telespazio and Phillip Lauer, one half of Tuff City Kids, are back with the insatiable Orme EP. Showcasing the pair at their best, this four tracker is where acid meets emotive melodies and shimmering Italo synths lines. In the words of Phillip Lauer it's where "balearic vibes, acid love and a lost tape from 1991 merge into pure bliss!.." The pair first met when Phillip (trading as Arto Mwambe) remixed a Telespazio track. They started working together in 2015 when their first joint release Oasi was released on International Feel. An integral part of the label, Lauer recently released the highly acclaimed self-titled Talamanca System album on International Feel alongside Gerd Janson and label boss Mark Barrott. Both Lauer and Mammarella have a history of quality releases on great labels: Running Back, Beats In Space, Permanent Vacation and Rollerboys Recordings.

All are plundered to produce an album overflowing with good feeling. And these feelings are pretty damn good. The road bends- The course changes. Bubrling acid bliss, crisp beats and stunningly delicate key shifts characterise this collection. Inviting strings pull you ever deeper. Zombie Zombie - Livity Lp (+ Bonus 7")

SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION X 300 WITH BONUS 7 :
Limited special edition with the 7" containing the track "Lune noire", in 2 parts - one per side.
It's already been 5 years since the last Zombie Zombie album 'Rituels d'un Nouveau Monde', after which the group explored other territories by signing 2 film scores, namely 'Loubia Hamra' by Narimane Mari and 'Irréprochable' by Sébastien Marnier, as well as creating the music accompanying a contemporary circus show called 'Slow Futur' created by Martin Palisse and Elsa Guérin. Wouldn't these beautiful parentheses make you want to return to the sources After 10 years at Versatile Records, 2017 also marks the decade anniversary of the release of their first album 'A Land for Renegades' in 2007, at the time considered to be one of the 10 best albums of the year according to Rough Trade.
'Livity' - Zombie Zombie's latest opus seems to plunge us deep into science fiction, with a cover designed by the mythic cartoonist Philippe Druillet, who is also the founder of the cult Métal Hurlant comic series. The title of the album is somewhat misleading, as one could mistakenly think of a certain dub record made at
the famous Island Records Compass Point studio in the Bahamas. For the uninitiated 'Livity' or 'Life force' is actually a Rastafarian spiritual concept based on the idea that an energy exists within, and flows through, all people and all living things. The record was recorded last winter in Paris, in a very short time frame. 7 tracks played live in 7 days, by Etienne Jaumet (synthesizers / rhythm box / metallophone / sax), Cosmic Neman (drums / vocals / sound effects), and Dr. Schonberg (percussion / electronics / trumpet), recorded at the Red Bull Studios by Thibaut Javoy and Jerome Caron, 2 very competent engineers. To keep it in the family, the album was then mixed by another member of the Versatile stable, the mysterious and legendary DJ/producer I:Cube, done in the label's Victor Studio.
On this album the principles that are dear to the group rest being respected, still as far away as always from the standards of 'radio play', A living kind of music, composed of long instrumental moments recorded with analog synthesizers and drum machines, accompanied by drums and percussion. But I:Cube's touch may bring the unique energy that one may find at Zombie Zombie's concerts; on certain cuts like title track 'Livity' that the group recorded in Laos, a wild combination of 808 kick drums and bewitching jungle sounds that sound quite unlike anything else out there, and especially on 'Hippocampe', which gives the impression of hearing an old school hip hop rhythm with the power of a metal band who have replaced their guitars with an army of synthesizers: we recommend you listen to this particular track in a convertible while speeding down the highway.
As with all of Zombie Zombie's music the cinematic component is still strong, on titles like 'Ils existent..' 'Acera' which was originally composed for ciné-concerts accompanying the films of Jean Painlevé et Maurice Pialat. The energy of the beginning is still very present, as is - of course - the kraut inspiration. But it's also an album that takes new directions and sonic risks, like on 'Looose', which brings to mind the Art Ensemble of Chicago, or the groove of James Chance in New York in the early 1980's, featuring the free sax solos of Etienne Jaumet and Dr. Schonberg on the trumpet. The group also offers some slower and calmer titles, like 'Heavy Meditation' as well as exploring more experimental tracks in the line of French 70's groups such as Lard Free or Richard Pinhas, for example on the bonus track 'Black Moon'.
Please - Take your time, and enjoy listening!

Shimmy Sham Sham - Shimmy Sham Sham 010

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome back to the Shimmy Sham Sham sessions. When people talk about Summertime vibes it's most often associated with the obvious: good weather, sweet drinks, waterside locales, and a much-needed departure from the daily grinds of work, school, and off-season doldrums. One thing most tend to overlook however are the smells. It's the smell of the summer season that really infects the spirit; being attacked by the olfactory seducing aromas of suntan lotions, watermelon, Ck one summer spray overuse, piña colada mixes, BBQ grill emanations, and perhaps most importantly of all, sweat. Dripping, oozing, sticky buckets of lovely sweat everywhere. Whether that is happening poolside, in the bedroom, or, as the case clearly is with this ridiculous three-tracker of party bombs, on the dance floor. The whole wide world of Disc Jockeys now have access from everything to "Don't stop the music" a slick power wash of classic French disco, to a rollicking jazz piano-led jam by an operator hereby known as Professor Twirl-hair. In the heat of the night, let those sweaty numbers melt your worries. No top hat and gator shoes required - just shake that ass!

Jtt & The Boogie Cafe - Vol 1

JTT Originally from London, Jimmy moved to Bristol in '95, drawn by the Fresh 4, Full Cycle and the big Bristol sound. He started out DJing at house parties and renowned underground venues like Cosies. Bristol's melting pot, combined with his Gilles Peterson-inspired school years made for some eclectic roots. It was only a matter of time before playing other people's records wasn't enough Inspired by a Salsoul-sampled techno track (East End Trax's Chalk Line), with his first computer and some self-taught software Jimmy cut his first edit. Recutting tunes quickly became standard procedure, for his own sets quickly became the norm. Alexander was involved in promoting Underground Society at the now legendary Bowgie Nightclub in Newquay during the early 90s. Bringing in and DJing alongside the likes of Marshall Jefferson, DJ Disciple, Paul Trouble Anderson, Robert Owens and Noel Watson to an always packed out fortnightly event that closed at 12.30AM ! Probably the only Soulful and Deep House music night in Cornwall during the peak of the rave years.

Eight tracks from the album are in the vinyl package, including singles with Cakes da Killa on the Hip House enthused 'Catch The Beat' and Sam Sparro on classic dance track update 'Look Ahead', strutting elegantly through Honey's tough "Berlin-meets-New York" style. Remastered versions of 'Burn' and 'Thunda' are included too, plus a brand new mix of the incredible 'Houze' featuring Seven Davis Jr.
Honey describes the concept of the album in her own words: 'The album is a personal statement. It was about taking these different worlds and combining them to make something new. The Best Of Both Worlds was a pun that I wanted to take, empower and own.'

Various - The Roundup Part 3

The Round up part III is here: Our annual cocktail of "Heisty" re-imaginations. With our busiest release schedule so far, we've moved up from a 12" and 10" pack to a double 12" pack, with 7 artists re-rubbing each other's originals in their most personal way imaginable. Nachtbraker turns Nebraska's sweet and moody 'It won't be long' into a raw as hell acid stomper. Ouer and Adesse Versions, deliver a great jackin' take on both their victims and Nebraska adds some disco flavour to Frits Wentink's free handing piano work. Frits on his turn gets going with the SP404 to add some dusty vibes to our own Future Imperfect while we've turned Obas Nenor's down-tempo excursion with 'Wakee' into an up-tempo Chicago-esque affair, bringing in our Crumar Performer for some lively work on the strings. Obas on his turn, gets his MPC fired up and delivers a great Midwest inspired version of Push it Along. We've had a truly great year with Heist and have released so much to be proud of, and this Round Up is a great conclusion to it. A nd as always, special artwork courtesy of Baster. Jongno Edits
07.09.2017

After a killer 12 inches from Mori Ra, Jongno Edits is back with two tunes, blurring the lines between editing and sampling.
The A-Side, 42 Below, is an uplifting Korean Fusion Boogie with slap bass, tropical synths, summery guitar and female vocals. Given a serious dub work out by Monsieur Jongno. Effortlessly working the bassline and guitar with added muscle, subtle dub FX's, drum fills, teasing the vocal and synths before unleashing the chorus and guitar solos. Nice Brazilian vibes on this one, like a Lincoln Olivetti production, Seoul went Rio.On the flip side, Drums and a Bass is an obscure LP cut from a Korean Percussion Ensemble with Traditional Korean folk elements, tribal drums and chanting, spikey avant garde guitar plucks, rolling punk funk bassline that builds the energy levels with Jazz style vocals and horns. Sounding very Liquid Liquid, a bit Can, a bit Pig Bag, with some Korean craziness. Expertly extended and re-arranged by the Jongno edits main man to give it more of a dancefloor edge, and ramping up the psychedelics. Powerful stuff.

Two sides, two atmospheres: Side A is a boogie banger that embraces all the elements of the top tunes of that era: strong drum beat, slappy bass synth and violins break downs...
Reinforced by killer funky guitars and congas that hold the groove tight! Side B is your perfect sunset Balearic cut for this summer. The dreamlike bells match perfectly the suave voices to prepare your ascend to the clouds of delayed organs and acoustic guitar where Jeju becomes Ibiza...
