Including two of the most relevant names of the growing scene: AUNTIE FLO from UK and mysterious producer HYENAH. Hyenah is a favourite of the scene's main man Black Coffee and DJ's like Dixon and the Innervisions circle are heavy fans. Also on this EP a new track by Toy Tonics very own ZHUT & KAPOTE. Kids from Berlin with a good buzz right now. Inside their track Afro Rico an Senegalese child choir meets some Zappaesque Marimbas going crazy... And as a bonus track you find Munk's Nigerian Jam: A Nigerian Funk band rolling over an heavy disco beat. Very deep, but very effective.

It takes a very special record to be christened a 'classic', 'timeless', 'legendary'. Heatwave's 1976 smash 'Boogie Nights' is one such special record, it undoubtedly deserves all the cache it has received over the decades since it's original release.
Written by the late Rod Temperton (who went on to work with Michael Jackson, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones and many others) this proto-Disco anthem still influences today and is renowned as an all-time classic dance record. 'Boogie Nights' was a hit in the USA, peaking at #2 in the charts in early 1977. Not bad for a group of Europeans with no connection to the hustle and bustle of NYC, or the grit and glamour of Detroit, Michigan with Temperton even calling Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire 'home'!
Now, in 2017, Brookside Records present part 1 of a very special 2 x 12" package indeed. NYC mix master Mike Maurro has stepped up, armed with a fistful of master reels from Epic's vaults and has undertaken the task of remixing this all-time classic and it's B-side 'Too Hot To Handle' in fine fashion. As usual, Maurro turns in respectful, faithful versions, made from the point of view of someone who has lived with this music all their lives. Much care and love has been taken with these new mixes, and new life has been breathed into Heatwave's music. Both mixes utilise some previously unheard studio ad-libs and instrumentation to fantastic effect, shining some new light on tracks that are engraved in the psyches of millions of dancers, DJ's and music lovers, no mean feat, but Mike Maurro pulls it off beautifully.
Again, Brookside bring us another set of cult Disco cuts reworked beautifully for 2017's ears, essential stuff for all lovers of this kind of music, this release is simply unmissable. The record comes with lovingly reworked Heatwave artwork and these remixes are exclusive to this release and are fully, 100% legit, licensed and sanctioned by all relevant rights holders.

Dortmund based producer ''Mr. Fries'' comes up with a soul'ed out 4-track EP for the Soul Notes imprint (11th installment in the main series).
''Norightnowrong'' is a cut that thrives through the use of the catchy vocal cut and the Rhodes that come in on various occasions.

For the A2 ''Datkoollook'' which features fellow North Rhine - Westphalia artist ''Kandinsky''. This track is a more uptempo disco tainted club track which showcases a great guitar solo.

On the B1 we find ''Change''. This is a thrilling piece of work with a some short chords that cut throughout and nicely fitting vocal cuts.

Cologne based Soul Notes usual ''Adryiano'' comes up with a very club oriented version of ''Norightnowrong'' in his signature style.

Phonk D presents his second Solo EP on Footjob and it's a Goodjob once again. Four sample-based tracks are cutting up Disco and Funk and bring it back as classical partystompers.

Andre Sebastian, a young chef with musical ambitions, delivers our second offering. Two tracks with enough carbs to keep you going and a sweet treat to finish off the meal.

Last year's On the Corner underground smash release, the 12' EP Santuri's Embaire Umeme, introduced Uganda's Mugwisa International Xylophone Group (M.I.X.G) to the world.
The recordings center on the Embaire, a giant xylophone native to Ugandan folk music, which is dug into a pit for a natural, earthy bass resonance as gargantuous as the instrument itself. The instrument performs a key role in village life, with ceremonial playing sessions lasting for hours on end.
These recordings may be esoteric in nature but they add important context to the Santuri's Embaire Umeme 12' and are a vital documentation of the Iganga village's culture, as well as that of Uganda. Jones has artfully chopped the epic session into a series of short evocative chapters to create a pioneering masterpiece. Remix duties are led by Griot House innovators, The Diabolcal Liberties, who have raved-up some Sun Ra frequencies for the cosmic junglist crew.
Last but never least, Victoria Topping has created beautiful artwork using the session photography taken by Jones during the recordings

Initial listens to Inre Rymden (Swedish for 'Inner Space') reveal it to be a curious combination of slow-motion house music and salubrious New Age funk. In this case, first impressions are accurate, and they should intrigue you enough to dive deeper into the paradisiacal vistas Tommy Awards paint here. The opening track 'Prometheus' introduces that feeling of sundown deliquescence that very few musicians can summon, as it locks into a laid-back groove that induces utmost serenity, buoyed by sublimely mellow guitar vibes that should make fans of Manuel Göttsching's Ashra and Phil Manzanera's solo output spring to attention. 'Draget' conjures the sort of exquisite elegance and preternatural chill last heard on Roxy Music's 1982 LP Avalon — but somehow it's even more blissed out than that boudoir classic.
And so it goes for most of Inre Rymden: Among the six tracks, only 'Rexy' hints at tension, courtesy of a bass line that sounds like it should score a prisoner's walk to the electric chair. But that's tempered by guitar sighs of radiant melancholy, not unlike those lofted by Popol Vuh's Daniel Fichelscher. Even when Inre Rymden gets relatively uptempo, as on 'Hans Logan,' it still glides like gilded, glazed, Balearic house jams, urged on by subliminal bongos and dappled with pastel guitar shimmers far off on the horizon.
'Music is love and love is our music,' runs Tommy Awards' slogan (a sentiment beautifully echoed by David Crosby on his revered 1971 album If I Could Only Remember My Name), but one could also argue that it is medicine — a balmy ear massage that spreads healing frissons to all areas of your body and mind. Tommy Awards continue their miraculous act as Scandinavians channeling the tropics with stunning audio verisimilitude.

Following up right after its first vinyl release, Todh Teri returns with Volume 2. Todh Teri's retrospective continues to reimagine the golden era of Indian cinema. Sampadan chaar revisits a Bollywood ballad with a light breeze of acid thrown on. Next up, a homage to a legendary Indian producer, with a retouch to his classic 1980's tune. The final edit on the EP takes on a sensuous super hit from a Pakistani-born disco queen. Giving it a little soul, and a lot of groove. Making this a significant release that proves the artist will continue to produce top notch reworks. Once again Todh Teri recreates memories of the legacy Indian music directors & singers left behind. A tribute that's fresh & definitive. In the past, Todh Teri has brought this style of music to Berlin's well known night life like Voll Schoen & Wilde Renate.

So the SHAG edits hits volume 6 and again welcomes in new talents to the Roots For Bloom roster. Ethyene delivers a sample laden vocal sprung straight up house classic. LK slows the pace but replaces with soul and crystal clear percussion. Georgi Barrel opens up the b side on one to please any daytime party with great use of his well equipped studio and a sample to die for. David Moran seals off the EP in true shag edits style, no barriers, great sampling and all with a great party In mind. Followers of the shag edits will not be disappointed.

House and it's children, music of celebration. Few can attest to having witnessed, first hand, the evolution of 'celebratory music" (let's put it like that) for the past four decades... but Black Tulip founder Joseph Salvador has seen it all since it started. From the first summer of love during the hippie revolution to the acid house festivities in it's second coming and up until the present moment, Salvador has been writing songs, tweaking knobs, patching cables, heating valves and welding circuits.

Since the first incarnation of TINK! Records in the late 80's, Black Tulip has been Salvador's pet project. It was created as a tribute to the great New York vibe, inspired in the spirit of the legendary Paradise Garage soundtrack and applying the principles passed on by the greats: Cheren & Levan, Sly & Robbie, Arthur Russel, Patrick Adams and, of course, François K... and it has survived, untouched, until today. Over many releases, Black Tulip has endured and advanced as a symbol of house and garage culture and it's new release is an amazing accomplishment that attests to it's author's coherent vision of said 'celebratory music'.

For Black Tulip's most recent release, Salvador called young yet experienced producer Ka§par to aid him accomplish his vision for 'Better Days'. Both conceptualised a common idea: the sound one could expect to hear in a would-be universe where the Garage was still rockin' with Levan at it's helm... with this in mind, they crafted the astonishing Portland dub. The result was a mid tempo, pulsating, african influenced arpeggio trip, with a super tense arrangement and filled with discrete jazz chords... To top it off, Inner Life front man and Prelude, De-Lite, Salsoul singer Wendell Morrison rips through the electronic backdrop with a huge vocal performance, singing Salvador's mysteriously spiritual words against Ka§par's tight tropical boogie bleeps. This means House music.

To complete the release, remix duties fell upon Social Disco Club who drives the track onto that place where classic rave meets deep house, for an amazing and long rendition where a bubbling 303 melts MPC beats, drenched in moist Juno atmospheres, possibly one of SDC's most amazing remix moments in recent times. Japanese house expert Setsuo Morikawa turns the track on it's head and manages to go all Strictly Rhythm on it, making a pure New Jersey jacker as if evoked from the mid 90's, with sharp, clattering hats & snares, and deep as it gets bass... perfect floor material.
The 1990's original take was cut at the infamous Portland Sound Studio in Amsterdam with the original Black Tulip formation, Joseph Salvador, 'Groovemaster' Johnson, Rik Zwaan, Bob Pieck and Wendell Morrison on vocals and only released on a EMI/TINK! Records CD sampler Dance Cuts Vol. 1.

All in all "Better Days' is TINK! Records' return to amazing form, a collection of three perfect mixes that stand on their own, against a timeless original of 1990 that is sure to please the widest possible audience. Get it while supplies last, this will fly off shelves.

Next up on our album manoeuvres we head back up to Sheffield. "Hiem" are back with their 3rd album, the galactic cornucopia that is "Hotspace". It is a fine follow up to the 2013 "Escape from Division Street" released here on Nang. "Hiem" consist of dynamic duo of Nick Eastwood & Bozzwell (he was the live vocalist for "The All Seeing I" who scored a worldwide hit with "The Beat Goes On" in 1998).We have always thought of Hiem as one part grown-up dance pop, one part fine 80's tinged songs and one part slightly weird and quirky. The third album doesn't disappoint managing to cram all those descriptions (and more) across ten fine songs.Things open up with the recent single, the high fashion disco stomper "High Life". Pure Nang sound distilled down into one song. Driving bass, snaking sax and snazzy keys. Next it is a breather in the form of part one of the "Hotspace" song quadrilogy. Part one is a sombre scene setting piano piece sounding like a long lost Eno B-side from 1978. Next things kick off with the sparking night time shimmer of part 2, "Hot Space" itself. Percussive bass guitar and shimmering guitar wrap around the sci-fi themed tour de force.Keeping things stratospheric we next slow things down for some sub-orbital slow-synth grooves with "Oxygene". To close off the Hotspace segment "Telepath" looms large with its pending-alien-invasion groove and slow pulsing basses. After a quick flip of the vinyl we slip and slide with a slow snaking groove of "My Evil Friend". Channelling some 10cc Dreadlock groove the pair next give us "That Girl She Made Me Cry".On every Hiem record there is a that section of light relief. This time "Monkey Office" fills that space with a cautionary tale of 9-to-5-ism. To close off the album first is the Bowie-esqe low minimalism of "Gortlizer Park" and the slow perc-groove funk of "Sign Of The Times".Album three, locked and loaded. Expansion's most successful and longest running compilation series returns with a 2017 edition. The concept remains the same, fifteen must-have modern soul room gems taken from the year's biggest dance floor spins on the soul scene. While tracks here have topped UK soul charts, many have not been available in all formats. Once again, attention is paid to the 'flow' of the 15 gems chosen here from shuffling beats to boogie to more soulful house as played at modern soul events. Participants this year include Omar with Los Charly's Orchestra, Tawatha Agree (voice of Mtume's Juicy Fruit') with Aeroplane, Kenny Thomas with Thames River Soul produced by and featuring Incognito, and both Wez and The Groove Association formerly members of Brit Funk group Second Image. Leela James is here after her stint in a US realty TV show R&B Divas: Los Angeles', other guests including Amp Fiddler, Faith Evans, Trina Broussard and Lifford.

Los Amigos Invisibles are successful music exports from Venezuela creators of the disco love-funk ensemble "gozadera" - an irresistible fusion of Latin rhythms with fiery funk and house music. Signed for their first international breakthrough by David Byrne and produced by the likes of Dimitri from Paris and Masters at Work they have built a successful career full of world tours and various Grammy nominations. Fellow Venezuelan disco specialists Apersonal Music teams up with the band to press this vinyl-only special release packed with 2 original cuts from Los Amigos Invisibles plus the unreleased instrumental disco versions mixed by Ray Mang.

After a short break in the African wilderness, Black Rox return for part 4 of this acclaimed series. 'Date With The Rain' sees Soft Rocks turn in an 11 minute 'One For The Lion King' manipulation of a joyous and uplifting jam that fuses traditional rhythms (think a humm-ba-ba) and vocals that are underpinned with a strong 4/4 kick.On the flip side,Roots Unit perform some major surgery with a 'Pump Up The Jam' reconstruction on 'Le Beat Is Technotronic'. Crazy percussive jungle rhythms and wonky vocal hooks rule the roost until it merges into a future 'techno-techno' Amazonian world.

For ANMA's fifth release, Reekee aka Italy's Riccardo Masi has produced a classic cut of uplifting house, quintessentially jamming a thunderous rolling groove with soft jazz piano. Ecstatic synths unleash their primal screams throughout before the Hammond steps up and raises the bar! Remixer Ricardo Miranda cooks up a veritably frantic electronic jungle of idiosyncratic pulsing square waves and marimba voodoo soup, before Vick Lavender takes over the B-side with nigh on ten minutes of organically blissful jazz and groove experimentation. Vick's Mix comes rooted with percussive breaks and a solid evolving rhythm section and is brim-filled with sleazy vibes, tender electric licks and rapturous synth pads swelling us into elation!

Claudio Coccoluto continues the return of his The Dub imprint this with 'THEDUB108 EP, including three original tracks from the unmistakable Italian artist.

""This Is"" is a low-slung disco shuffler turned into a toughened-up house roller.
""If It Feels Good"" sees him in a celebratory mood (think sing-along disco funk with swinging new locked-in drums).
""Feel The Fire"" is a superb re-cut of the Osmonds' ""I,I,I"" that benefits greatly from some fresh new acid lines and
""The Get Down"", a killer, 98 BPM funk revision that makes great use of the source material's urgent, impassioned vocal, bluesy guitars and wild synthesizers.

Following on from 2016's excellent 'Birsk' single on Futureboogie, Philipp Lauer returns to the label with a new three track single. The 'Las Brisas' EP kick starts with the mechanical funk of 'Pile'; acidic notes drip over heavy EBM drums whilst a hovering 'Resse' style bassline dominates, the influence of early house and industrial dance are ever present here on this belter of a track from the Tuff City Kids and Talamanca System player.
More acid pressure can be found on 'Clipper', a blazing and dynamic slice of anthemic Balearic dance. Searing pads and lustrous melodies pour over the robust drum machine workout, that'll have dancers reaching for the skies! Real stirring stuff from Lauer, which continues with closing track 'Tyco'. Ricocheting stabs and cowbell hits bounce off a sturdy kick drum as the track flourishes with more on-point melodies and a snaking bass. Dripping with emotive refrains, Lauer brings his very best to the table here, and rounds off an EP that's most definitely all killer and no filler!

London based Disco outfit Faze Action team up with celebrated Anglo/Brazilian artist, Nina Miranda for proto house crossover. Faze Action have always managed to take different musical traditions and blend them to create sounds that are somehow familiar whilst simultaneously containing the unexpected. Last year's Mangwana, featured long time Faze Action collaborator, Zeke Manyika, singing in his native Zimbabwean Shona over Faze Action's infectious disco production. This time, British/Brazilian singer, artist and all round creative force de majeur, Nina Miranda, takes things further with her invitation to Vamos Pintar or Let's Paint, in Portuguese. On the surface there is the familiar Faze Action restyled proto house but it soon becomes apparent that the brothers have appropriated more than just a Brazilian vocal. Punchy 808 drums and fizzy synths are infused with Brazilian Caixa and Pandaro as if they had always been designed to co-exist. The remixes come from the illustrious Max Essa, whose British born/Tokyo resident background chimes well with the international nature of this latest offering. His Slo-Mo Bubble Dub simmers with Mediterranean sun that reclines into romantic piano flourishes and dubbed out vocals, whilst the Extended Dub manages to draw out the original elements at their original tempo. Faze Action's own Paradise '90 Dub closes the package by keeping close to the original arrangement with added economy and plenty of dub delay of course.

This is the kind of house music that disco built! Bons Records is back with an Ep full of soul. In the ninth release, the Catalan label is nourished by four first-rate artists in an album full of disco and funk samples. Slide A is for Not Me, a young Catalan producer who performs a club version of one of the all-time essential soul records. On the other hand, Madrid-based Javi Frías has made another of his sought after trips through disco music.

Nobody can deny the volatile nature of club music. Most tracks have a short life span and both - DJs and clubbers - can easily forget the 'track of the night' within hours of leaving a club. So it is an exceptional thing if a song remains longer in the minds of clubbers and DJs. And as a producer you certainly hit the jackpot if you write a club track which turns into a 'classic'. A solid tune that is always heard on the floor, no matter what country, no matter in which context and no matter who´s playing it. Keep Pushin' by Hamburg based producer and DJ Boris Dlugosch is exactly this. A timeless classic - a club-anthem! The song was released back in 1995, a time when House music from Germany was not that common on the internation-al club circuit. It was Techno and only Techno. Nevertheless, Boris Dlugosch had a long-lasting reputation with House music simply by playing his favourite records at the legendary FRONT club in Hamburg during the late Eighties. He was one of the first DJs in Germany who was supporting Garage and Deep House music. And an article in a 1994 Billboard issue shines a bright light on Hamburg being The City of House Music in Germany. Boris Dlugosch invited his heroes Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Masters At Work and many others over to Hamburg and became great friends with them. When he met Tony Humphries during the 1995 Winter Music Conference in Miami, the legendary Kiss FM DJ got very excited about 'Keep Pushin' and immediately played the song on his legendary radio show (as did many of the US radio legends).

Raw outsider boogie, interstellar loaner funk, intimate synth sound productions on this debut from Russia's VENUS EXPRESS II. The LP features 8 hot tracks of spacey, jazzy, funky tunes in the similar format of STAR CREATURE's SKY TONY & LIQUID PEGASUS releases. This is true space funk!

Long time Is It Balearic artist Max Essa returns with two warm weather bombs.

First up is Mekko Sekko an early evening shuffler full of all max's trademark sounds subtly charming the most horizontal listener onto the dancefloor.

Copenhagen's Music For Dreams cements its reputation as a label to watch with this new compilation of label boss Kenneth Bager's favourite 'Balearic Biscuits' - eight of his tastiest secret weapons for the most eclectic and adventurous dancefloors brought together in one essential vinyl double pack.
The opener comes from Dusseldorf's 'Saloon De Amateurs' resident Jan Schulte aka Wolf Müller aka Bufiman. 'Basedrum Party' is a tribal funky jungle beat with strong percussion. Throw in some weird and wonderful synth stabs and you have a very original and special crowdpleaser - Kenneth's personal favorite record of last year. José Manuel delivers a great percussive tribal groove called 'Macumba' that shifts direction half way through, with a Doors organ vibe washing over the African continent. Mehmet Aslan is on remix duties for 'Mechanical Turk' by Karpov Not Kasparov and his Turkish Bazaar roots shine through in a mesmerising epic nine minute musical journey of pure quality. Jan Schulte once again twists his beats on his remix of Africaine 808 resulting in a hypnotic floorfiller full of energy. Kenneth Bager's electronic disco and Fela-inspired 'Biological Bread' was recorded by him in Copenhagen then mixed by Tuccinelli in Ibiza and recalls an African Kwanza Posse mood. The 10 minute anthemic 'Hafi Deo' from 1985 by African Rumba singer-songwriter Tabu Ley Rochereau is a real winner showcasing his unique way of mixing Congolese folk music with Caribbean beats yet still sounding contemporary. Another special inclusion is the highly sought-after Kenneth favorite 'I Think You Are Boring' which was self-released in 1989 by 380 Volt Electric Papa - timeless drum machine overlaid with some very strange Italo-English lyrics. Finally 'Fork Power' by Grooveman Spot, a thunderous and amazing percussive powerful DJ mixing tool for peaktime heaven on any dancefloor. Leroy Burgess - One of the pioneers of Boogie, a legendary figure in the NYC Disco scene and all-out originator is well known by dance music aficionados across the globe for his output. They understand the impact and influence their music has had on DJ culture and embrace it wholly. Step up UK underground producer Marquis Hawkes who originally approached Salsoul with this set of killer reworkings that had long been private versions that featured in his sets. Having dropped EP's for labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, AUS Music, Houndstooth and many more his name is firmly planted in the minds of record fiends across the nation. Adopting a classic US style of production, using analog gear, dope loops and chops and finessing it all with his own grittiness, Hawkes seemed a good fit to remix 2 stellar joints from LOGG's catalogue. 'Something Else' and 'I Know You Will' both get cut up, re-edited and laced with rock solid drum programming by Hawkes on this sublime 12". Lovingly tweaked with just the right amount of RAWNESS for the dance this one won't leave your bag anytime soon! Pure peak-time sounds here, another example of Salsoul embracing the sounds of now and breathing freshness into their untouchable catalogue. Essential.

On Latino Body Music Vol II Sano continues to explore his musical heritage connecting the dots between tradition and news. For this record he picks up the 'Champeta' style that had its origin in the streets of Colombia. The mix of repetitive rhythm patterns and chants performed by local legends like Hernando Hernandez is an integral part of the huge soundsytem culture that takes place in the streets of Cartagena. By adding small hints to contemporary western club culture like a classic house piano, or an acid baseline Sano reinterprets the tracks for our dancefloors without loosing any of the original hypnotic flavour.
