The Pathway Traxx journey continues! Following the storming success of the killer PT06 from DJ W!LD we welcome a stomping, home grown, 4 track EP from the Pathway label owner Niko Maxen. This EP has been over 3 years in the making, since the early days of PT01 when Niko produced the original tracks for the label. It has been an intention to follow that release with a solo EP, and that time has now come. True to form, Niko's EP delivers a hard dose of raw house, seductive vocals, slamming kick drums, and skippy hats.
2017 is set to be a big year for Niko as he lines us several big releases and another 4 track vinyl EP all in the early half of the year. It seems now is the perfect time for this in-form artist to come out from the shadows and into the limelight.

The EP comes out punching with the heavy rolling A1 track "The Future". This raw cut of house teases crunchy drums with playful pads and thought provoking vocal dialogue. A2 takes a slightly more laid back swinging stance but keeps the momentum well and truly forward with its rolling baseline. The heavily reverberated vocals and swirling pads, entice the listener into a hypnotic day dream like state, all the while keeping the head nodding with the constant shuffle of high hats and cymbals.

The B-side the release continues much along the same lines as its A-side brother, with "The Intervention" dropping a tonal and bouncy baseline under a flurry of airy chords and stabs. The EP is rounded off perfectly with the downright funky jam, "G-Strings". This punchy groove marries up the best parts of groovy house with teasing hints of disco strings, sure to bring life to any dance floor at any time.

Heads may not know it, but Olmos (real name Oliver Graham) has been one of the busiest influencers on Australia's underground music culture this side of the 90s. Through family-run operation Paradise Loft Records, he has quietly imported thousands of dead stock Disco, Boogie and early House records into crates across the country - affording tastemakers a slice of digging culture only a trip to NYC would previously have allowed.
.
Thus Ol's arrival at Gulf Point gleams with the jewels you'd expect from a producer with such inspired tastes. These are set free on Luna's Groove', a star-chasing collection of nouveau post-disco works, crafted in earnest with dancers in mind. Raised on a healthy diet of Levan mixes and M+M dubs, his own use of juicy Moog basses, progressive arrangements and glittering melodies have bought forth an EP which modestly harnesses the New York Garage aesthetic he loves so dearly.

Three Olmos originals are teamed with an astral mix by Benny Badge, reigniting his Freekwency namesake to redo the title with cosmic pads and the gravitational pull of a timeless 808 sequence. Jack Doepel, known for his work with Melbourne's rising Krakatau, also makes an appearance on sax - landing this interstellar mission somewhere on Jupiter's fifth moon, Rhea.

This is Ollie and Benny's second meeting, the first being Freekwency's Flip The Coin' on Voyeurhythm. Recorded in 2011, their collaboration fuelled a simmering Boogie revival and remains in high demand alongside similar transmissions from Tom Noble, Psychic Mirrors and PPU. Since then, Olmos' evolution has scored him some deserved points of his own - Luna's Groove' however, may have just hit the bulls-eye.

Rune returns on his own Drum Island imprint, this time very ably assisted by UK House turned ambient ambassador Chris Coco
Weekend Billionaires, in its original form is a delightfully lolloping Balearic builder.The Chris Coco Sunshine mix immerses those guitar licks and synth pads in a sea of dubbed out, ultra-violet light. Already rumoured to be included on Harvey's eagerly awaited Mercury Rising comp. Anton Klint (Tryck & Ton / Public Possession) steps up on the flip with a no-less psychedelic, but decidedly more laser-lit interpretation.
Finally Alta Lab wraps things up with a pacier interpretation, Housing up the elements into a hypnotic, emotive rendition...
Quite a package

It really feels like we (aka Mad Mats & Tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with Local Talk, but it's really true what they say, time flies when you're having fun!
From what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. We really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house) and to always keep the Local Talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. From our very first release with Bassfort's excellent 'Moon Shadow' in the Summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what Local Talk should represent...House music in any way, shape or form!
Over the years we released soulful, Disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, Jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, UK, Berlin, New Jersey, Detroit and of course Chicago inspired house music. If it made us bump...we put it out! This brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. We thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of Blaze's classic album '25 Years Later' popped up.
Besides the fact that it's an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. It's not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. This fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we've tried to capture on our '5 1/2 Years Later' compilation, split into two parts. On part 1 you'll find a dark bassline driven house jam from Art Of Tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from NYC's DJ Spinna, a Blaze homage with that classic New Jersey sound from Sean McCabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta Brescia from wonder kid Corrado Bucci. All in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...Local Talk style!

MAD HIGH END ORCHESTRA SOUNDS!

REPRESS ALERT: Especial is delighted to welcome Baris to the roster. Known for his edit series of obscure Turkish Psychedelic, Rock and Disco, here he takes the producer's chair to present "200". Working with musicians and singers to create a completely original production. The song's message for equality (of the sexes) highlights the bigotry and backward political and religious boundaries his country faces and acts as a siren to the current troubles. Handed to Emotional Recordings over 5 years ago but with no label to release it at that time, now we are delighted to be able to release 200's message. The original is backed with remixed from new production duo Khidja, as well as East London's finest, The Asphodells. Teaming up with guitarist Balabas, Romania's Khidja turn in a deep and introspective interpretation mixing their own heavy eastern influences, while the B-side sees Weatherall and Fairplay don their Asphodells mantle for two renditions that firmly lay it before the ALFOS alter. With artwork (by Jamie Paton) highlighting the struggle for fairness and freedom in his homeland, we hope the release can be seen as a support for their tribulations and highlight the talent that lays East.

Danyb's next wave of tunes picks up where the first two left off, with an added refined quality.
Not to mention, a second rendition of the buzzworthy South African gem from Vol. 1 on the B side making for a back and forth opportunity for the ages at the mixing console.

With Volumes 1 & 2 doing the business out on the floor, volume 3 is sure to please, with a variety of tempos and energies packed into one heavyweight slab of re-tooled obscurities...

What do you get when you cross a Frenchman, a Dane, two Irishmen and a Swede The debut various artists compilation from Kyoku Records, of course. Gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the Melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back Dorsi Plantar, Sune, Long Island Sound and Ethyene (alongside Folamour and Marc Bianco). Translating from Japanese to a befitting "dancing birds", the Odoru Tori EP is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. The orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. On the A side, the Scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. Dorsi Plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with "Senorita Lolita", although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he's now come to be known for. "Californicate" from Sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal Golden State. On the flip side, Long Island Sound follow the same recipe that made "Delusions" such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of "Ease In". To top things off, Ethyene, with the help of Folamour and Marc Bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature French Touch formula to great effect on the simply titled "Good".

Funky Sobrietas is the slick love child by Leuk en Ko's Jan Duivenvoorden and Richard Van Den Bogaert. Intended to be a poppy German Italo duo for a wedding act amidst the squatting scene of The Hague, the music they produced was of more value than just an one-off. From a shoebox stacked with dodgy recordings two tracks were selected that offer you the full Funky Sobrietas spectrum. 'Maria' is the anthem for the one you would die for, with unpretentious vocals and echoes but catchy synths nonetheless. 'Sunny' is six glasses of champagne later when the wedding is on it's flipside, with a nifty dry bassline and quirky synths. Comes in opaque white vinyl and (again) beautiful riso printed artwork, pressed in limited amount (123) for all the die-hards out there.

Kryptox '...surprising, individualistic, cutting-edge and irrepressibly fun' (The New York Music Daily) JRBB is a German 15 person big band that combines Jazz with Electronica. Additional beat production by COEO (Toy Tonics). On this EP is a rework from JRBB friends BRANDT BRAUER FRICK included. This EP is the first release on KRYPTOX: a new Berlin based label for Neo-Krautrock/JazzElectronica/Experimental music. The new label is made by Mathias 'Munk' Modica. The producer behind indiedance labels Gomma and Toy Tonics. (Modica produced records with people like James Murphy, WhoMadeWho, Peaches, Daniel Avery, The Rammellzee a.o.) With the new label he goes a step further. Searching for new artists who experiment on a high musical level and go beyond boundaries. Far away form the traditional dance universe. The first release on Kryptox comes from JRBB. A 15 piece Jazz group that has a very own, new way to combine Jazz with electronic elements. A New York newspaper called it ODM: Organic Dance Music. A term that fits well. Even if it's hard to pin down JRBB's music - as it is so unique.

Kiwi AKA Alex Warren, returns to Futureboogie after 2016's well received 'Orca' EP (which picked up support from the likes of DJ Harvey, PBR Streetgang, Manpower, Kate Simko & many more) with the cinematically sprawling 'Amityville' EP.

With all the intensity and menace of the supernatural events immortalised in Rosenberg's 1979 horror flick, 'Amityville' leans on Lalo Schifrin's classic score and serves up a chugging disco-fied monster. Arpeggiated synths and those memorable vocal refrains from the movie build a mood of anticipation that flourishes into sections of pure wigged out disco business. It's a very clever and unique production, and one that we served up to DJ Tennis for re-interpretation.

Following on from recent remixes for The Juan Maclean and Tricky, as well as a spectacular DJ Kicks mix for !K7, DJ Tennis remoulds 'Amityville' into a deep and delicate house groove, introducing some guitar riffing and deft mallet instrumentation whilst manipulating the original components to mesmerizing effect.

On 'Warriors', Kiwi continues his unabashed love of cult movies with a musical ode that captures the edgy and urban sounds of 70s cinematic synth soundtracks; phasing guitar riffs, rolling snares and dramatic synth sweeps dominate this infectious track. And closing the release, 'Paco' is a melody fuelled and studious production; wandering keys drift over a steady beat and filtering bassline combo whilst the synths pitch bend and flex, resulting in a gloriously trippy ambience throughout.

Copenhagen-based label Music For Dreams are extremely proud to unleash the debut album of Sweden's Prins Emanuel.
Released in double vinyl format, Emanuel's first full length solo project is a concept album revolving around the medium of the record itself. With a functionalist's attitude, each of the vinyl records can serve a different purpose. Translated from Swedish, the album title literally reads "Work/Leisure Time" and the contrasting moods of the two discs are meant to reflect. So on a Friday evening, you might tell your girl or boy to put on the A/B sides as you're getting ready to bust some moves that night. And on Sunday evening, you tell him/her to put on the C/D sides as you're relaxing and tapping up a bath. Although this is a multi-instrumentalist's vision, the fact that Prins is primarily a drummer is clearly evident in the masterful hypnotic grooves that form the base on which the whole album stands. And while elements of dub, boogie, afro, house and new age flicker by as we ride along on these motorik rhythms, the balance between warmth and repetition provokes a constant tickling irrestistible tension. For fans of the young Swede's former output with the Fasaan/Chalice label (especially his collaborations with label mate Golden Ivy), this superb LP will surely not disappoint. For Record Store Day 2017 Razor-N-Tape presents "Icarus," an original song by Lovebirds, with remixes from Tall Black Guy, Moods, and JKriv in a striking double 7" package.
Giving the shine to their 45 series for this year's Record Store Day, RNT welcomes back Lovebirds aka Sebastian Doering with a slice of chilled-out analog soul. Although primarily known for his nu-disco and house productions, Lovebirds is a seasoned hand at all things deep, and Icarus shows the smoky late-nite side of Basti's skilled production style. An all-original tune, Icarus layers jazzy vintage electric pianos over restrained but head-nodding percussion, with Galliano's soulful vocal soaring above it all. The ever consistent Tall Black Guy delivers a 90's-esque boom-bapper of a mix, with an added verse from 80's Babies for good measure. Moods works the track into a slo-mo stomper on his mix, complete with stuttering synth bass and driving percussion. And rounding out the package is RNT's JKriv, with a beachy stripped-down retro-boogie remix perfect for those warm-weather months to come. Adesse Versions has been dropping some choice originals and edits on a host of renowned and respected labels for the last four years and we're proud to add him to the esteemed list of artists to release on Delusions Of Grandeur.

From early white labels on Make Love In Public Spaces and his own Adesse Versions label through to his recent outings on Heist, Numbers, Razor n Tape, Let's Play House and Local Talk, he continuous to impress with his raw, sample-heavy production which brings pure energy to the dance floor.

For his Pulp Fusion EP, Adesse presents three diverse and brilliant cuts, all showing off his deft touch in the studio and providing what we feel is his strongest work to date. Pulp Fusion leads the A side with cutting clavinets doubling up the syncopated bassline, a super-charged romp where disco meets filtered house resulting in a track with widespread appeal despite its raw and underground approach.

The A2 entitled Fade Out drops the BPM's for a string-drenched, Philly soul jam, heavy on percussion but with a gentle lilt and Balearic vibe that makes it perfect for the wind down.

The moniker of acclaimed production/DJ duo Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe - have been making moves and making music together for almost a decade now. Phil takes us home with a spaced out version of an all time Italo classic. A Boogie classic from '81 on the legendary SAM label out of New York city! K.I.D. is the production pseudonym of British library record stalwart and Munich Machine member Geoff Bastow. Bastow's career has been an extremely colourful one seeing him work with various artists including Amanda Lear, Elton John, Donna Summer and La Bionda amongst many others. "Hupendi Muziki Wangu" is Swahili for "You Don't Like My Music" and the track has long been a classic with underground Disco/Boogie aficionados for many years and has been a staple in the record bags of many legendary jocks since it's release 35+ years ago. On the flipside we are treated to "It's Hot", another sleek cut of early 80's Boogie perfection aimed squarely at the dancers. Originally pressed in a quantity of just one thousand, original copies have long been sought-after by both DJs and collectors alike, acknowledged as one of the best dancefloor-focused gospel tracks to have ever been pressed to wax. Here we offer the 12" in its original form, accompanied by interview-based liner notes and a never-before-seen photo of the band, helping to tell the story and truly celebrate such a great track. ossession Records proudly present the new album by Soft Riot, entitled 'The Outsider In The Mirrors'.Soft Riot is the stylised musical alter-ego of JJD, Canadian by birth and an ex-resident of London and Sheffield, now based in Glasgow (so not unfamiliar with sites of post-industrial decay!). With over twenty years of playing in various post-punk and synth-punk bands, he has been crafting the sound of Soft Riot since the early turn of the decade, releasing a slew of albums across a multitude of labels and touring obsessively around Europe and beyond.With 'The Outsider In The Mirrors', his sixth full-length, he has found a new home for his sound on Possession Records, a fledgling Glasgow imprint founded by JJD, Claudia Nova (aka Hausfrau) and Andy Brown (Ubre Blanca). Their aim is to bring together their pool of musical talents and provide a more permanent home for their future creative endeavours, whether it be music, video or otherwise and to experiment with what it is to be a 'label' in the ever evolving 21st century. Future projects and releases will see them getting a select group of their peers and friends involved in Possession's focused vision, locally or from further afield.'The Outsider...' is a consolidation of all the stylistic elements Soft Riot has pursued in the past; the manic propulsive energy of 'Waiting For Something Terrible To Happen', the infectious, off-kilter dynamics of opener 'The Eyes On The Walls' and the pulsing, elegiac synth washes of 'The Saddest Music In The World'. Throughout the album Soft Riot fuses his maximalist sonic palette with a sharp-edged sense of post-punk anxiety, unique synth interplay and brooding, claustrophobic new-wave dread. Comparisons to musical kindred spirits like John Foxx, DAF, early Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget and Virgin-era Cabaret Voltaire would be analogous, but JJD is defiantly fusing these basic references into something highly idiosyncratic and personal.
The music on 'The Outsider...' is evocative of an kind of nostalgic futurism, of a refusal to give up on a desire for the future (dystopic or otherwise) and the unpredictable nature of the urban situation. The music is tense, synthetic and precise, embodying and exploring issues of isolation, urban alienation and social paranoia. Yet despite these dark thematic preoccupations the Soft Riot sound is not without its warmth and humour. Wry and self aware without irony, the songs are hook laden, infuriatingly catchy and designed for dancing as much for static listening. It is a peculiarly Soft Riot take on the electro pop sound that will engross and captivate any adventurous listener.

Faze Action Records', (FAR), next release unearths the disco wonder of unreleased music by Andromeda Orchestra. The lead track has been expertly remixed by legendary DJ Nick the Record, extending the percussion, bass, keyboard sections and then teasing in the vocals towards the end to turn the track into a peak time disco burner which sits comfortably alongside Disco old and new. On A2 we have High Steppin' which see's Andromeda Orchestra heading for a more stripped down instrumental track, tight percussion and keys drive home another floor filler. B1 We have the original mix of "Get Up & Dance", staying true to a classic disco arrangement. With B2 ,Andromeda Orchestra exit with a more laid back funk/disco groove perfect for the warm up.

Alex Olson aka Balearic Skip, a professional skateboarder, now has a record on Jolly Jams.
Claim to Fame As the progeny of the skateboard pioneer Steve Olson, Mr. Olson first learned to ride at age 12. By 19 he was skating professionally, giving him the rarefied distinction of being the first second-generation professional skateboarder. He often
appears on the covers of Skateboarder and Thrasher magazines, though these days his clothing line is also getting attention from fashion editors.
Big Break In 2005 he signed a sponsorship deal with Girl Skateboards, one of the most prestigious skate companies. 'As a kid growing up, I never thought I would get sponsored by them because they were at such a higher level,' he said. Still, larger brands came calling. A few years ago, he parted ways with Girl Skateboards to work with Louis Vuitton, Vans and his current sponsor, Nike.
