The King Sporty reissue series continues with the lesser known, but no less worthy, Rock Attack. This first time release of the song under the King Sporty name - having previously only been released as by the vocalist in The Ex Tras, Johnny Griffin - brings in to focus the breadth of music, numerous alias and versions used by Noel Williams on his Konduko label.

When compiling the series, numerous DJs and collectors suggested that the dubby instrumental track No Wonder, found on King Sporty & The Ex Tra's sole album, Extra Funky, should be included on a loud 12" pressing. What many did not know, however, is that it had already appeared as the flip to what is a vocal version, Rock Attack.

Released under the name J Griffin, the song appeared on Konduko and its sister label Tashamba, with all the hallmarks of a King Sporty production. An incessant, reggae "picking" guitar solo is matched with freaky freestyle synth interplay, with Griffin's rap-vocal matching the rhythm and electro-funk bass stabs, working around the repeated phrasing to create a groove that could swing for days.

Recorded, as always, at Miami Sound Studios, with writing, arranging and production credits to Noel William's, the recording was the early incarnation of King Sporty & The Ex Tras. It's stripped-back version, No Wonder, sees Griffin's vocals reduced, dropping in and out of the mix with over dubbing to measure that makes the inclusion of what is affectively vocal and dub, in its rightful place as an Ex Tras song complete.

This is backed with another specially crated Discomix, this time done in fine style by discoid forefathers, Faze Action. The Lee brothers (Robin and Simon) have worked closely behind the scenes with Emotional Rescue since it's inception, with Robin often providing invaluable remastering support- from Bob Chance's Wild It's Broken (ERC001) to this King Sporty series - combined with the fact it was Simon who suggested the idea of putting Rock Attack and No Wonder together for this release. It seemed therefore, only right that as they are giving up a long held, secret play, that they should be let loose to create a long form vocal / dub reversion.

Merging the main vocal interplay of Rock Attack with the dub of No Wonder, while deceptively removing the stop / start nature of the original arrangement, as Faze Action they bring all their production experience to bare, sending the results to the echo chamber for a reinterpretation that really lets the fun happen as a true Discomix should.

Niemoc is a young trio from Zielona Góra on western border of Poland. Their debut EP came out on a Polish boutique vinyl label Father And Son Records And Tapes in 2016. A two-tracker Mikrofale (eng. microwaves) blends influences from wave and shoegaze with dancefloor oriented disco-not-disco.

The material has been first released digitally in May 2017 via another Polish imprint - Brennnessel and now is available on vinyl as a collabo release with MOST Records. For the physical release, the EP gained two versions prepared by MOST associated artists Eltron & Hatti Vatti. Eltron's 'Dysko-Miks' of Trynidad, Tobago is a straight-to-the-dancefloor approach with strengthen drum break and funky arpeggio. For Wyspy Chlodne, Eltron worked together with Hatti Vatti which resulted with a dubby hybrid.

Since the release is an unusual cooperation of two Warsaw-based labels and multiple artists, it's scheduled to hit the stores around Record Store Day.

The titles reflecting a journey that took him to musical places unimagined in his studio beforehand. Music is the pathway to his dreams while sunny days in Greece also inspire certain feelings in his sound. Fireplays (also spelled Fireplais' on second single) was the moniker chosen in 1981 by italian producer Franco Pagliaccia foran instant-band project composed by him and a few other musicians.
Allein' b/w Hormone' was released in mid-1982, and as can be clearly heard, both tracks clearly show the mutation disco as a genre, started having at the very beginning of the 80s in Europe: ablend of electro disco, along with new-wavish elements and some classic era-blueprint sonic elements: synth driven melodies, filtered vocodered choruses, pads, swirling cosmic sounds, cowbells, all topped by a powerful male voice that will give genuineconnoisseurs an exact Zeitgeist, along with assured goosebumps.

The next installment on Aus Music sees the return of a relatively new addition to the roster Rob Glassett aka Fold. Throughout previous 12s on Manmakemusic and Electric Minds and on his outstanding 'Netflix & Chill' debut for Aus last year - Fold has laced together dusty House grooves built with a classic approach to sampling Funk, Disco and Soul records. Next up - his 'Lenny's Jam' EP starts up with a dub techno groove built with delayed and panned stabs and sharp, pacy drums. 'Rosie Lea' lays out a rich and sunny groove as a playful sample filters into focus over deftly treated drum kit samples and a buoyant bass line. 'Tracksuits and Tennis Shoes' then follows up with a no-nonsene party jam - a short funk link is set over a booming kick that closes up a nicely varied package".

Formerly remixed by Move D and a former remixer of Cassius, young German talent Kolja Gerstenberg has been building up some serious pedigree. His EP for Monologues showcases his wonderfully wonky sound, full of chunky, bugged-out grooves, killer samples and a generally off-kilter vibe, with a chunky acid / breaks infused remix courtesy of Monologues mainstay, G. Markus.

We have been waiting for Pele to crop up on a release from the footy mad Rothmans and what a time to play that hand card. Teaming up once more with his Aussie team mate Dawn Again and a first apperance from Leeds legends Clandestino. The first track from the EP 'Cobblejam' is nothing short of first class, a worthy italo, chuggy ,powerhouse that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. The b-side finds us with the slightly strangely named 'Woman For A Day' theres nothing strange about the track itself though . A deep and dark track that slowly drives forward into the abyss. Finishing off the record is an excellent remix from the lads over at Clandestino. Their Dessert Trance vibe brings the record together as sweetly as Pele brought together that 1970 World Cup Winning team.

Hyenah, has, over the last few years helped forge strong ties between the deep house mecca of Johannesburg and the cutting edge electronic scene in Europe. With a handful of influential and pivotal releases and remixes on a few key labels (Objektivity, Drumpoet, Poker Flat, Toytonics) Hyenah has established himself as a major talent to follow. With his residency and label night Rise at Berlin institution Watergate going from strength to strength, a busy touring schedule taking in Ibiza, Angola, Asia and the U.S, we're very pleased Hyenah still found time to get into the studio so we can present you with the next instalment; The Usuthu EP. Lead track Usuthu featuring the vocals of B'utiza opens the release in fine style with crisp, percussive beats laying the foundation for the precision synths and trademark Hyenah Afro vibes. Those who loved The Wish, Tale Of The Dirt and The Idea will love this worthy follow up! Next up is a second original entitled Phases featuring the hypnotic tones of Nonku, a much deeper affair but with no less energy and atmosphere. Just a more heads down groove for the warm ups and wind downs, Nonku's wonderful vocal elements adding the perfect soulful touch. Flipping over we have a wonderful remix from the inimitable Mr Raoul K. The Ivory Coast native now residing in Berlin has continually wowed us here at Freerange with his Boabab and Mule Musiq releases. With his collaborative release alongside Manoo just about to drop on Innervisions (including a killer Dixon edit!), we're excited to bring you an epic Mr Raoul K remix of title track Usuthu. Setting the mood with lush strings and a beautifully paced, beatless intro, Raoul K slowly introduces the beats and keyboard parts, layering up the elements and building the energy in the process, resulting in a very special, dynamic version that will connect on a deep level with all who experience it on the dance floor.

Repping one of the United States' oldest and most beautiful cities, St Augustine Florida, Ancient Deep are Little Bill and Dorian The Percussionist. Their music is no stranger to Soul Clap's DJ sets and after some careful A&Ring and development we are very proud to present their "Hard To Fall EP" on Soul Clap Records. Opening up the record is the title track "Hard To Fall" featuring the vocalist Cry No Mas. Its a deep and gentle rub thats smooth as butter! "Le Freq ft Gia Scola" flips rhythm into an swung out groove that feels both deep and tribal, perfect for casting spells or just expressing yourself through movement. Then last but certainly not least is the true dance floor work out of the record called "Arizona Heart". This cut is a deep bomb and detonates like one each time its dropped, take a listen and you're sure to understand.

Elevate Melodies are back with four toe-tapping, finger-snapping, dancefloor slaying heaters, all on wax.

Side 1 takes off with the Griffes' remix of Jay Airness' She Staying', all sumptuous keys, sun dappled strings and peak-time beats propelling the track ever forward. Venice Beach then takes on Sly Moore's seismic Muoosic', dropping the tempo and creating a super low-slung slab of electro funk, one for the 100bpm crew.

On the B side, Lord Funk takes on Black Les Grues De Nantes' from Victorius, turning it into a jazzy workout with slap-bass, chopped up vocals and dusty vinyl crackles giving it a classy 90s feel. And rounding out the selection is New York DJ and producer P-Sol who applies his midtempo skills to Law and Theory' from label boss Jay Airness, creating an atmospheric groove with some real funk and jazz flourishes.

In this oversharing era, uncommon is for an artist to choose to remain in total anonymity. Even for the Easytiiger teamwork, the real persona behind the Model Nice act is still a complete mistery - actually not a problem when the sound speaks for itself. The debut EP 'Nice To Meet You' arrives with four raw dance burner gems, including a futuristic arp killer remix from the lemon-fanta guy, Pépe, for the song 'Cravo Amargo'.Besides the rough-shaped aspect of the sound, this EP reveals a very sharp and sophisticated production, with complex element layer works that could perfectly fit as the soundtrack for a Blade Runner microcosm built inside of a night club. Baptiste Letertre is Ringard and comes from Rennes, Britanny's biggest city with a strong electronic music culture. Ringard has a label called Dance Around 88 because he was born in 1988. Ringard released 8 vinyl records. "Lacrima Rossa" is his first 12" outside his own label so it's a great pleasure for us to have him on board. Ringard music is deep but raw, woolly, melancholic yet emotional. Think soulful techno, steamroom slo-mo, warehouse heat and euphoric minimal. Morphine electronics at its best with amazing strings and killer frequencies like Lobster Theremin meeting Boards Of Canada in a fantasy balearic island. In french, Ringard means tacky or outdated. It has never sound so cool being Ringard!

Based in Colombia's capital, Bogotá, Felipe Gordon's sound is testimony that both challenges and reinvigorates the burgeoning colombian house movement. His statement is built of resonances inspired by other decades, Bogotá, cold, streets and messy youth. It's not surprising when we hear pianos and classic acid house lines paired with jazz samples and funky bass lines. His ability to mix this complex sounds into club music has made Gordon into a renowned and prolific producer (Nomada, Toy Tonics, W&O Street Tracks, Sampling As An Art). One to watch. Nuff said. Die Mischung von Dub und Techno gibt's ja schon eine Weile. Aber wie der gute JPatterson sie anrührt, erfüllt alle Kriterien für das, was man gemeinhin als frisch und spannend bezeichnet. Seine rustikalen Grooves stehen für draufgängerische Tanzbarkeit in waschechter Prog-a-Dub Manier, der Klang seiner Trompete für eine Gefühlsintesität, die es in der digitalen Musikwelt so nicht gibt. Das zentrale Element von Elevator ist aber die Stimme - bzw. die ansteckende Lässigkeit, die sie verbreitet. Mit der Dub Version liefert uns JPatterson einen in Rhythmus und Melodie gebannten Sommertag. Es wird tatsächlich noch spannender, denn eine handverlesene Meute aus dem Acker-Umfeld hat Elevator geremixt. Timboletti kommt im Digitalrelease mit schleppend-bewusstseinserweiterndem Afterhour Groove. Dole & Kom gestalten das Teil zur hintergründigen Hymne um. The mix of Dub and Techno is not exactly new. However, JPatterson found a way to combine these genres in a way that checks all the boxes to be classified as fresh and exciting. His rustic Prog-a-Dub grooves burst with reckless danceability, the sound of his tumpet has an emotional intensity that simply doesn't exist in the digital music domain. But the catchiest element of his track Elevator is yet another one: It's his voice and its contagious casualness. The Dub Version of this track is a bright summer day turned into rhythm and melody. It gets even more exciting than this, as a hand-selected group of party heads from the Acker family has remixed Elevator. Timboletti turned it into a slow, delirious afterhour groove (digital only). Dole & Kom redesigned it into an understated anthem. And Mollono.Bass created an energetic rhythm environment for the weightless trombone that feels like it's vibrating right in middle between the original and the Dub Version of Elevator.

Munk is the project of Gomma label founder Mathias Modica ("Germany's most interesting electronic music label' The NME). Munk is best known for his collaborations with Rebolledo from Pachanga Boys (Surf Smurf), James Murphy LCD Soundsystem (Kick out the chairs), Asia Argento (Live Fast Die Old) and club hits like Down in L.A. and La Musica. He co- produced the albums of Gomma bands WhoMadeWho and Moullinex. There is already a big buzz around Munk right now: The pre-single Southern Moon went on top of the Beatport house charts. DJs like Todd Terje, Shit Robot, Tensnake and Disclosure are playing it. Also Happiness Juice (and its superb video) is all over the blogs right now. Munk's latest remix of Lana Del Rey's West Coast went on No.1 of Hypemachine after it's release in June 2014 and is one of the most blogged remixes of this summer. The new album Chanson 3000 is the 4th Munk album. It was recorded in Berlin - where Mathias and his new vocalists live. As usual Mathias' music doesn't fit in any categories. It's a mixture of 90ies Electronica and House with New Wave, 70ies Jazzfunk, Indie Disco and his love for songwriters like Burt Bacharach, Quincy Jones, Trevor Horn. Mathias is a classically trained musician. His dad (a composer of contemporary classical music) taught him instruments since the age of five. That's why Modica's way of producing is so different: He mixes 'real' instruments (he plays piano, synths, bass, saxophone, guitars, drums) and new digital techniques.

Detroit enigma Sharif Laffrey makes a return to Paramida's Berlin-based Love On The Rocks imprint with 'Pony EP'. The two track EP marks his second release with the label (following 'Key Jam (A.C.I.D.)') and his third release in three years - something of a roll for Laffrey who typically allows years to pass between each outing. A-Side: 'PONY J.A.M.' Over 9 minutes of what sounds like nineties 4/4 Indian acid-house bass music - in the best way. Surprising vocals & a healthy 3 minute lead in. B-Side: 'PONY ROGER' If the pony you were riding on the A-Side was galloping through a grassy meadow - this pony heads into a dark cave. If the A-side is The Never Ending Story then the B-side is The Dark Crystal. But with Prince instead of Bowie. Sharif Laffrey has been playing records and making music for 20 long hard years. Born in Detroit, Michigan - he's worked on the line checking camshafts for Chryslers & at Submerge for Mike Banks - at the same time. He toured Asia with Juan Atkins and once had to chase a grown man through the streets at night, who had crawled into his living room through an open window. An active member in Detroit's early rave scene, Sharif remembers booking all foreign gigs with something he calls a fax machine.

From 1977 this double-header is an Eastern themed, moog driven oddity from the mysteriously monikered Kamel Oil Company. Written by the legendary Bob Azzam, Eddie Barclay (founder of Barclay Records) & Greek record company owner Antoine Flamaritis, 'Mustapha' is an exotica soaked orchestral monster with choir vocals and string arrangements that only the big boys could call in. This is a serious left-field nugget from the vaults of one of the biggest majors, one ends up thinking - 'how did this come about!'. On the flip-side we have 'Petrolo En Bruto', which is the real gem here, undoubtedly this one will appeal to fans of the far flung reaches of world music and psych, even those of you who dig the various flavours of Funk from around the globe. A truly special and unique record here, often sought after by the deepest of the crate diggers and obscure sound searchers on a promo 45, this rare EP now sees a fully legit reissue. Made in conjunction with Above Board distribution and RCA this reissue is sourced from their vaults using original materials and remastered and repressed to the highest standard for 2018 and featuring all original 1977 RCA label artwork.
