After offering-up Paratrooper as part of DJ Tennis' recent DJ Kicks, the Israeli duo Red Axes arrive on Life and Death for an original EP. Sami is a post-Moondog Shamanic tribal trip, while Round combines dilapidated Post-Goa electronics with just the right amount of cowbells and guitars psych. Vego is a lo-if western spaghetti full of Tape delays and amplifiers sauce , while Pulse waves and wind blows on a big Russian bell at the title track Kalacol. A record that could only come from Niv and Dori - another reconfiguration of the Life and Death mausoleum.

Hailing from Brunswick, Melbourne, James and Peter Isaacs are the brotherly duo Donald's House. They've been making music for around eight years. Without fail, every lunch time when making music, they'll go to Sesame & Soul on Lygon St and order a cheese pie and zaatar bread. James usually orders a coke zero as well. This EP here is a collection of tracks written over a three year period. There's a seven year age gap between the two. Pete got James into dance music by taking him to one of his parties that featured Pearson Sound and Mark Pritchard. After that, they started making music together. James is a trained Jazz guitarist, while Pete has been buying and playing records for about 15 years. They've released two tracks with Sydney label Ken Oath. One on their debut sampler and one on their ambient tape. They previously lived in London, where they regularly attended CDR. This is where they met the dj Iona, who was the catalyst for the whole release and a mutual friend of theirs and Nick Ho¨ppner. Taking influence from Paradise Garage styled disco, early 90s House, Italo and anything with a DMX drum kit, their take on dance dance music is as refreshing as it is familiar. You'll often hear M1 solos, chords and stabs, juxtaposed against Phil Collins styled stadium drums, and groovy Seinfeld basslines that just beg your body to move.

On the flip is another original from a master of deep, spiritual music, Trinidadian Deep, and a remix fit for the club from Japanese producer Yuji Takenouchi Aka Mr.YT."

Coming hot on the heels of Khidja's return to the label with their Never Seen The Dunes EP, is a set of remixes by friends and family of the label and band, featuring no less than Discodromo, Inflagranti, Red Axes and Selvy on mixing desk duties. A proper Remix EP with all 4 tracks from the original EP getting a proper European flavoured rework. Starting with Discodromo, this dynamic Italian duo produce for the likes of Dissident, Internasjonal and Slow Motion Records, DJ around the globe and run the exemplary CockTail's d'Amour label out of their Berlin base. Their unique take on the modern discoid sound is perfect for the title track and taking right to the red zone. Adding pulsating bass, driving appegio, all while allowing the bump of the original to keeping pushing things on, it's a perfect introduzione.
This is followed by Inflagranti's inspired retake of the deeper vibes of Aura. A huge favourite of the label, the Swiss team keep the bass and dam' funk, but head straight for the autoban to
create an old school NYC electro-dub style remix. A matured cruiser that keeps the swing, it all leads to those strings and Eastern flavours gliding over for the perfect finale.
Things head darker on the reverse, with Tel Aviv's shinning stars Red Axes, maning the controls for the scatter bounce of Indecis for the stand out remix. Twisted vocals, brooding FX and reversed guitar all atop a mesmeric kick, things just keeps going higher and higher.
Finally The Quiet Before The Red Stop is passed on to a name for the future, Selvy. With appearances on Polish Cut Outs and a recent EP for Transatlantyk, here he takes the 'Balearic'
grooves of the original adding some club bumpin' bottom end and kick while maintaining a lightness for the White Isles. A perfect way to round off. Watch the skies (and basements).

Disco Deviance welcome new kid on the block Love Drop to the imprint and he delivers two absolutely stomping Disco reworks that pay homage to the raw cut up 'n paste style of glorious disco days gone by. Employing equal amounts of jack and disco they are both guaranteed to relight your dance floor in the style of better know editors like Rahaan and Frank Booker.

Displaying a depth and flair for aural innovation like no other, Mark plots a course through a heady trio of beautifully constructed machine-funk jams. 'Twilight Fade' leads us seductively into a slowly unfurling Sound Signature style voyage through the soulful circuits. 'Quarttz' is a super deep, all enveloping synth-led workout, while 'First Thing' on the B, stretches a few simple ingredients into a sonic banquet of heady dancefloor bliss.

A leftfield haven, happy at home on the fringe where boundaries blur and textures intertwine... It was only a matter of time before Jennifer Cardini and Noura Labbani's Dischi Autunno imprint featured the bewitching sounds of Mehmet Aslan. Following outstanding documents from Dollkraut and The Magic Ray, Berlin-based Swiss-Turk Mehmet makes his label debut with four singular works of art. 'Alysha' takes the lead, 22nd century desert funk with sand storm atmospheres, mushroom clouds of slide guitar and a hefty dose of blues, it sets us perfectly for the rest of the EP. Since the release of his 2 first albums on Favorite Recordings, Lucas Arruda has quickly established himself as one of the most talented young artist and composer from Brazil. His music is filled with fusion style, mixing influences and elements from his Latin musical background, with his genuine admiration for Jazz, Soul and Funk music.

In spring 2015, it was also not surprising to find Lucas Arruda back with a new LP called SOLAR, receiving great supports and feedbacks from international media and tastemakers. One of the highlight of the album was the song 'Melt the Night', on which Lucas asked legendary producer Leon Ware for his help, reminding his collaborations in the 80s with Marcos Valle, when they perfectly merged together the sophisticated Boogie and AOR touch from California, with the blazing sense of rhythm from Brazil.

Today, Lucas Arruda and Favorite Recordings proudly present a brand new single, announcing the release of Lucas' third efforts later this year. This new opus is pursuing the music direction set with SOLAR, mixing touch of Blue-Eyed-Soul, Pop, Soul and Brazilian styles together, and influenced by the path of legendary Brazilian producer Lincoln Olivetti, who recorded some of the biggest stars of Brazilian music (Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben, Tim Maia...).

In Lucas words: 'These two tracks represent the whole spirit of the new album. In this record I really wanted to honor Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti. They are the main influence on this record. We recorded the basic tracks for the album in the same studio that Lincoln Olivetti did his last works. So, this was very important to capture the true essence of Brazilian Funk/AOR tradition. Boogie Jams On Wax by Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel

LMYE first came to light in 2016 on Funkineven's Apron imprint with the LMYE EP, which quickly became a regular fixture at the London label's infamous parties and bbqs as well as with house DJs worldwide. Since then the pair have been relatively quiet, only appearing once on record, with a release for Bristol's Idle Hands in 2016.

The paucity of their output though belies a busy production schedule behind the scenes. Tracks from those sessions have surfaced occasionally in the sets of DJs like Shanti Celeste and Ben UFO but they have never seen the light of day on a full release until now.

As you would expect from their first releases, the self-titled LP treads a line between classic house and UK garage with a nod here and there to boogie and Latin freestyle, genres which have inspired their production techniques.

From barnstorming new jack house cut 'The Gift' to the classic UK funky sound of 'Hypnotized', LMYE have selected only the most weighty numbers at their disposal, with the aim of offering an LP that will catch the ear of those at every end of the house spectrum.

That's not to say that this is an LP of dancefloor-only cuts though. 'Long Island at Night', which features Bristol's Typesun and Adam Davies live in session, shows the softer, more musical side of LMYE's output. Meanwhile 'XTC Rising' is a uk garage cut with a classic edge which nevertheless still feels modern and up to date in its outlook.

In short, 'LMYE' collects the highlights of a number of years' work, with the aim of finding a home in the boxes of the most discerning and listeners for years to come.

The second EP from Zurich based Pacifica is featuring their new song - Memory Man', a trippy journey combining folk and future house. On top this EP features two touching remixes. Kalabrese delivers a laid-back, but irresistible version. When it's dropped, the crowd immediately starts to dance and drift. Same thing with the Frankey & Sandrino remix, which works also perfectly at the peak-time of a night and results in euphoria on the dancefloor.

Phillipi & Rodrigo's 'Paciencia' (DEEWEE033) is the next taste of the Brazilian duo's debut longplayer, recorded, produced and mixed at Studio DEEWEE in Gent. Boasting songs about the cosmos, relationships, nostalgia and signs of the Zodiac, the album, also called 'Paciencia', will drop early next year on DEEWEE.

Released 9 November on all formats, 'Paciencia' (single) is 5 minutes of hypnotic Balearic goodness, chattering synths and a floor-skimming groove. Wrought by the hands of the Dewaele brothers, the transatlantic DEEWEEDUB sports a cunning percussive build-up before shedding its skin and heading straight for the heart of the dancefloor.

'Paciencia' follows Phillipi & Rodrigo's two previous DEEWEE singles, 'Mantra'/'New Beach' (DEEWEE017), and 'Karma'/'Gueto De Gent' (DEEWEE010).

Wonder Stories heads over the pond for their 24th release finding the Aussie/UK collaboration between Dawn Again (returning from his excellent EP on WS019) and UK underground champion Rothmans (known for his vinyl only label of the same name). Psychedelic, melodic, and grooving are the name of the game here with 'Timeless Odyssey' venturing into melancholic ethereal territory while 'Rainbow Perch' is an uplifting and bubbly affair. On remixes, Timothy J. Fairplay submits a jacked up sleazy version of 'Timeless Odyssey' while Emile Strunz tackles 'Rainbow Perch' into a 4/4 techno stomper with a new wave ethos.

Volume 2 of retakes of C Cat Trance's unique post-punk meets world beat brings the collaboration between Malka Tuti and Emotional Rescue to a close. Here again, the label's call in a selection of heads to re-envisage a modern vision of the music to present a perfect representation for today.

Starting with Red Axes retake of an almost untouchable classic, the booming, sound system-quaking version of Shake The Mind is a heads down mover that should add to their reputation and finally give DJ's a follow up to utilise.

Next, Jamie Paton gives the perfect trance-inducing, dubbed edit of Take Me To The Beach. Looping the drums and horns infinitum, building through repetition was never truer, before release. His individual take on remixes is again displayed, deep dubs from the brethren.

To close the 2 EPs, the final side is given to a meeting of older and established artist and new, upcoming, but already respecting crew. In Prins Thomas, the psychedelic protagonist of the heralded northern disco lights, his name was first to be penciled. His live, drum-heavy reversions have become trademark and in Sudaniyya, it's all there. Subtle, confident and alluring, Thomas builds to a steady jam of machine and man, letting it all hang and simply, groove along.

In finale, Khidja bring in friend and fellow Romanian production rising star, Borusaide to cover Simple Helen. A slow-burning ode in original form, their genius reversion captures the essence and much more, giving C Cat Trance's music a whole new lease, while presenting their production talent and musicianship. As was the hope and intention of these updated versions - Re-mixes for the 21st Century - with a nod to the past, but feet firmly in the future. Play loud and play out.

Kalita Records are proud and honoured to announce the first
ever and official reissue of Kallaloo's sought-after 1982
disco single 'Star Child', accompanied by interview-based
liner notes. Originally released on Jeffrey Turpin's
Trinidadian record label IDA, 'Star Child' has since become
highly sought-after by both DJs and collectors alike as an
invisible, yet astonishing piece of Caribbean disco. Unable
at the time to gain the traction and success that it deserved,
we hope that this re-release provides an opportunity to bring
such a great record to a much wider audience.
Kallaloo consisted of various Trinidadian musicians including
Keith Alexander and Peter Wayne Barkley. Keith had been
well-respected as a member of the Trinidadian group Impact, and
was later to become an in-demand producer and composer under
the name of Keith Diamond, responsible for various hits by Billy
Ocean, Donna Summer, Starpoint and Melba Moore. In contrast,
Peter was a well-known recording session drummer, but after
'Star Child's' release he moved to North Carolina to pursue other
interests and 'was never heard from again'.
'Star Child' was recorded at Right Track Recording, in mid-town
Manhattan, New York. As Jeffrey recalls, the atmosphere in the
studio was 'great', with 'everyone upbeat, the cream of the crop
just looking for that break... everyone was talented and just
wanted the chance to express their own ideas'. Five hundred
copies of the record were released on IDA with a white label
design, and they were sold both in Brooklyn, New York and Port
of Spain, Trinidad. It was also released on a red label, however
this was not to Jeffrey's knowledge at the time.
Jeffrey explains that the reason why the record didn't fare well at
the time was because of the difficulty in getting the song played
on the radio. As he recalls, radio stations were much more likely
to play 'radio versions' of songs which lasted for a couple of
minutes, rather than five or seven minute 'extended' versions
such as 'Star Child', which were more suitable to a club
environment. In addition, as Jeffrey explains, radio airplay is a
'political business', and also within a short while band members
such as Keith got their own breaks, and the Kallaloo era was over
as quickly as it had started.

Love Drop drops (!) his first release on GAMM and goes all in for a jazz-disco-boogie affair that will be hard to resist.
Lesette Willson's jazzy boogie classic gets a proper rework with some female spiritual spoken word vocals on top.
Jupiter Beyonds jazz-disco monster gets a heavy club edit and last but not least one of the best jazz-funk tracks of all time by Johnny Hammond Smith gets a vocal treatment that just...works!

Contrary to the songs name, this interpretation of a traditional Afro-Brasilian candomble song, appears to be forged from mythical lost amazonian gold.
Recorded in Sao Paulo with an allstar cast of Arteria FM (on vocal duties), Salvador Araguaya (caressing the Viola Caipira) & Spaniol (stroking the Baixo), steered by Nicola's production prowess, this quartet delivers a melodic enhancement to the summer sun.

As if the sun wasn't shining bright enough already, the single comes backed by a remarkable remixer ensemble procured from their duties as fellow sun-worshippers:

Another gem from the archives gets a much needed official reissue. Ombra International can save you with the fury and lust. Bordeaux Cold-wave band, Bagarre Perdue kick things off with 'Cowboy' and the psychedelic Spaniard, Sutja Gutierrez closes with a tripped out vocal track.
The B-side goes more for the dance floor with French-Londonite, Mondowski and a post-punk slow-wave song ties it all together from St. Petersburg Russia's, Seven Knives.

When Fouk & Glenn Astro remix a new artist you know what the vibe is: Dirty DIY house with a heavy funk vibe. Mangabey is the new kid on the Toy Tonics family and he is a master of this style. He lives in Lyon/ France (and is a good friend of Folamour who remixed his first EP on Toy Tonics some months ago). But Mangabey takes the whole new Funk-House sound to another level. While many of his colleagues work with samples, Mangabey studied Jazz piano and collects vintage synths. And so he plays most of the stuff himself and bring in a lot of personality. His works could remind the vibe of New York Soul House from the 1990ies or the sounds from the West London scene from 20 years ago, but definitely he adds a modern, edgy touch to it. Mangabey aka Jose Fehner is an interesting personality: Born in the south of France in a family of traveling artists. As a kid he has been living on a boat and in caravans, traveling France and Africa with a wild theatre collective directed by his parents who are actors. Later he went to music university and now finally, by age of 22, he lives in Lyon. Lyon is becoming France' second music town. The town that has the most vibrant club and producer scene right now. So, yes: There is a lot to come from there... a lot from Mangabey.

Monsieur KAPOTE comes back with another deep funk house EP on Toy Tonics. Slap Bass, Wurlitzer Jazz Pianos, Old school house drum machines, nasty talks. This new three- tracker continues the vibe of his last single The Nose (that went no.1 on Traxsource and Juno and is still getting hammered by DJ's from all kind of scenes). This is slow grooving dance music. Nothing is stressy here. Jazz funk inspired mid- tempo house with live played bass, keyboards and lot of warm harmonies. Played with a high musical level. Pure quality. In fact Kapote used to play keyboards and bass in Jazz bands before getting absorbed by dance music culture. He is a big fan of late 60ies Hard Bob Jazz as well as 1970ies Jazz Funk and Disco. You can feel these vibes in all of his tracks. Besides producing his own music Kapote also is running Toy Tonics records with his buddies Manuel Kim and Munk.

What a wonderful outlier on Holland's 030303 label, this one! Lush breaks, with hints of UK hardcore and classic bleep house inhabit this wonderful EP. The EP kicks of with the track 'Animal Samba' is more housey with memories of 808 State, UR and Reese springing to mind. A2 is called 'Junglitter' and with a tempo so low, the track is perfect for slow raving; this is Goldie abusing the hand break...Breaks are at its heaviest on the first track of the flipside: 'Musiphon' keeps rolling on a brilliant formula of a dominant bass line rolling at mid tempo while an LFO-esque melodie fights for a second position. The last one 'Vedelius' -like the artist- a four/four track accompanied with breaks with the quirky melody in the bass and nightmarish screams taking over. This is possibly the track most suitable for the dance floor, not a cozy one though...These are the best hardcore breaks since, Zomby's "Where were you in '92", get them while they're shit hot!

NADUVE is a real hippie. Not one of those you meet at Wholefoods in Stokey, I mean a gentle soul oozing psychedelia. He 's a floating fixture in the 'second generation' Tel Aviv producers (not in age nor talent) LDDLM met through the Red Axes connection, a very tight self-gravitating crew of friends.

I have pictures in my head of Naduve, very lanky, bare chest with a slightly Aladdin waistcoat but do not get fooled, the 'shamanic' appearance hides a much deeper music than the dross that now entertains some of the white rich crowd in a certain spot of the Nevada desert.

Is it trance Is it tribal weirdness It's most definitely as 'who cares' as we like it. BACK TO WORK has been a firm fixture for us, a strange off kilter bleep homage to an imaginary Sheffield. PAKANA TANA is why Naduve shines at sunrise, whilst ZE HAZMAN shows us why is he is also full moon. Finally the XEN (more with her very, very soon) REVOX version of BACK TO WORK could almost be a Rimini circa 1990 anthem.
