For his debut on Spectral Sound, San Francisco DJ/producer Matrixxman returns with a strong and versatile four ­track EP. Amulet is rich with analog ideas, and explores his interests in deep Chicago moods juxtaposed with techno futurism. Having previously made a name for himself in 2013 with the well received, underground hit The XX Files, his drum machine-laden rhythm tracks, and melodic experiments have enchanted the hearts of elite dance music tastemakers left and right.

Using a number of classic Roland pieces for this release, Duff fluctuates between bouncing house rhythms and hypnotic techno. Most notably of the latter style is "The Caravan,' with hefty, driving syncopation under scrubbing, distorted hints of melody that fit in perfectly alongside Audion and Spectral itself. 'Venetian Mask' goes deeper with a hint of restrained jacking, calling up summer Sundays and setting up for "Enter Me," an infectious balearic excursion that will stick in your head for days and shows off Duff's ease with composition. Finishing off the Amulet EP is 'Scimitar,' which leans closer to a UK style of dubbed out bass coupled with an estranged yet futuristic touch of deep house.

Following his well received remix of Ane Brun 'To Let Myself Go' on Objektivity just a few weeks ago, it is finally time for André Hommen's very own, first ever solo EP called "The Bottom Line". This groovy number consists of three tracks that are style-wise all very different, showing off Hommen's wide range as producer. EP's title track 'The Bottom Line' was first featured in André's Boiler Room NY set (February, 2014), receiving great response and a massive "Track ID" -explosion on social media. 'Epiphany' and 'Reach Out' on the B side do not disappoint either - as groovy as they are energetic, they would fit well in different stages of any set. Enduring and influential Detroit techno act Octave One are to release their fifth full length album, Burn It Down, in Spring 2015. The 11 track opus is a collection of the unreleased music that has been lighting up their much talked about live shows for the last few years. This new album comes at a time when the pair are still evolving and searching out new forms. As live performers they are reaching an ever larger audience around the world and plenty of the energy they exude there is bottled up in this new LP. Made using a fine collection of hardware including bits by Roland, Moog, Dave Smith Instruments and much more besides, it follows 2008's Summer on Jupiter and proves that 'as individuals and as musicians we have grown with time and through our travels. Introducing Dance:Revolt Recordings, a new label formed by a collection of scene veterans that is sure to make immediate waves on the international house music scene. Dance:Revolt is the brainchild of renowned Florida-based DJ/producer Atnarko in cahoots with Dub Creative Group, an industry-established marketing and media team as well as hosts of internationally renown house music events. The label is intended as "a celebration of music and lifestyle," working within a variety of formats, including vinyl 12" issues of Dance:Revolt's releases.

It's only fitting that the inaugural release be from Atnarko himself. His recent exploits have earned him much acclaim, with "Thinking Of You," a collaboration with vocalist Sam Mollison for Fred Everything's Lazy Day Recordings, being a recent highlight. Atnarko launches Dance:Revolt with the deceptively titled "Violent Sky." As violent as the sky might be, Atnarko's sublime cut is a smooth, bouncy, and deep affair propelled by a slinky rhythm track and an entrancing melodic riff. A strange spoken vocal can be found floating within the sonic space adding a bit of mystique. "Violent Sky" is a prime groover, queued and ready for the next set.

The enigma continues with Three Piece Suit, an assumed moniker of a producer who wishes to remain anonymous. Three Piece Suit's version builds off the melody and places it on top of a polished breakbeat rhythm. Layers of lush synths round out the cut making it an excellent counterpart to the original. This is followed by a mix from Texas producer Rey Aguilar (Fade Records, petFood). Rey's rework brings things back to house music's four-on-the-floor for a nightclub-ready treatment with peak time elements. The big breakdown section at midpoint should shake things up nicely. Finally, Mallorca-via-Baltimore producer Lomez (Hypercolour, My Favorite Robot) adds his seasoning to a slightly darker take characterized by hefty analog-style synth stabs, a chunky midtempo beat, and a growling low end. It's an evocative mix that will fit perfectly among covert after-hour gatherings.

Back at it again, taking the true essence of the "jacking" sound of Chicago house and putting it's own stamp on it is what Obsolete Music Technology has done with their new 12" entitled, "Volatile." Warbling, wobbling, distorting, sinisterly acidic basslines abound is the best way to describe this release! For dance floors only! You have been warned!

"Volatile" starts off with some 707 drums intro and then fading in, is this tripped out, bubbling bass sound that sends you off a cliff! Just when you think that's all to the track; dark, melancholic pads comes in for added atmos-FEAR! Rounding out the A-side is "Killin," with it's 2 acid style basslines, one sounding at a high octave and the other at a lower octave. Riffs playing separately sounding great, but when played together, there is something slightly, mentally off.

On the B-side, "Broken Siren" is high energy! 808 tom drums bringing the funky low end while a short, electronic piano lick drenched in warm, fuzzy, flange effect. Setting it off is a decayed sine wave, mimicking an actual alarm sound. Lastly, "Electric Current" best describe this distorted acid bassline and its tweaking filter and resonance controls over jacking 808 drums.

Liverpool-based producer Bantam Lions has long been part of the Scenery Records family, helping label boss ASOK launch the imprint with 2012's One To One EP. Here he returns with his third 12" for the label. Lead cut "Recollections" is particularly good, delivering a deep and attractive fusion of fuzzy analogue warm, dreamy melodies and intoxicating chords. He ups the tempo further on "Many Years Later". Which layers dubbed-out chords and swirling textures over an energy-packed techno groove. The accompanying remixes are pretty tasty, too, with The Cyclist particularly impressing with his Detroit techno-goes-lo-fi interpretation of "Recollections". That said, the dreamy, new age-influenced downtempo take from Mood Hut regular Cloudface is pretty darn good, too.

The celebration started with "The Capsule remixes 10" that was released 2 months ago, now is closed with this "Far & Beyond", a double pack vinyl where the brothers and heads of the label (Dubbyman & Above Smoke) make their own selection of exclusive material into groove and dark deepest house tunes from artists worldwide.

Considering the combined talents of Detroit veteran Terrence Dixon and Black Jazz Consortium man Fred P, you'd expect this split EP for Finale Sessions to be a lesson in warm, soul-flecked depth. Pleasingly, that's exactly what it delivers. Dixon excels with the sub-sporting alien futurism of "To The Bridge" - the aural equivalent of staring into space while dancing to electronic jazz - and the sumptuous, minor key bliss of the casual deep house jam "Starting Over". Fred P, meanwhile, delivers two contrasting cuts. There's some acid-fuelled deep house futurism in the shape of "Circuit", and a chunk of bongo-laden dancefloor humidity in "The Road", whose rising strings and sweet melodies are arguably the highlight of a superb EP.

Javier & Luis Garayalde aka Kyodai are back on Local Talk with their third release since the debut 'Breaking' back in 2012.As always we're thrilled to present new tracks from the duo whose been integral in establishing Local Talk.The pace is set with the first track 'Konbanwa', showcasing the duo's phenomenal skills in creating something both classic and modern by fusing a tight and driving groove, tension building chords and a bumpy bass hook to great effect. Believe us when we say it's been an absolute highlight in our DJ-sets thru out the summer.On 'So Special' the brothers go back to their roots and create a track that's got both the sound and feel of their previous tracks 'Breaking' and 'The Scene' - in other words, another big track from Kyodai ! .

Already known for his phat basslines and raw attitude towards his production, S.Jay does not hold back on any of his tracks for the record.

The EP is a fusion of clever samples with pounding drum grooves and bass lines that will be just at home in main rooms as well as dark underground holes.

The title of the EP 'You Want It' kicks off the record nicely with its catchy and almost addictive vocal, underlined by dark subby stabs and a jackin beat throughout.

'Away From Me' backs up that S. Jay is no one hit wonder as he provides us with another lead track blending his passion for garage and house music together and a bassline that will keep your feet moving like your cast under a wizards spell!

'Ohh Dub' provides an alternative direction where it is flavoured with raw underground grooves and a huge deep melodic weapon of a bassline.

Paco Wegmann steps up on remix duties for 'Ohh Dub' and infuses Chicago and Detroit house elements complementing the track with an extra thuddy bass drum and glitched vocals for some fresh identity.

Next up on Visionquest is the second single from Wareika's righteous and raw 'Wternal' album. 'All Little Things', here in its 'Club Mix' incarnation, is another example of the trio's hefty musicianship and unbridled eccentric energy, where jazzy textures and pulsating grooves build up with a rising melody to the powerful vocal drop. On the first remix Visionquest & Nikko Gibler develop expansive piano melodies alongside an elasticated bassline and vocal snippets. Fred P reigns over the B-side with his raw, deep hypnotic 'Reshape' and warmed up 'Spirit Dub'. This is a distinctly diverse remix package from a rich artistic source.



Hamburg trio Wareika started as a project in 2007 with a collection of shining releases on prestigious labels such as Connaisseur, Eskimo, Future Classic and Circus Company, and three studio albums on Perlon, liebe*detail and Tartelet Records, Wareika's style ranges from Balearic to deep Techno, jazzy House sounds and from Balkan-Jazz to dubby riddims but always retains the smart intellect, depth and dynamism in composition Wareika is known for.



Their thrilling jazz-marries-techno live shows has now been captured on vinyl and CD with fourth full-length album 'Wternal' recorded in one 65min take and out now on Visionquest. After remixes for David Lynch and Benoit & Sergio in the past couple of years, Visionquest, the artists, here join forces with Nikko Gibler - a multi instrumentalist and composer based in Hollywood, who's also released records on Culprit and Leftroom.

Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium is one of the godfathers of the New York house movement and a true master of that often overused accolade 'deep'. Fred P runs Soul People Music and has appeared on Jus-Ed's imprint Underground Quality.

Und hier kommt Jacob Dilßner - 24, Student, Berliner. Irgendwann fing er mit dem DJing an, und dann nahm er einen Song auf, der von sich reden machte, "One Day / Reckoning Song". Es geht natürlich um Wankelmut. Dieses Phänomen, das scheinbar über Nacht vom Underground in den Overground schoss und völlig überraschend die komplette Musikszene im Sturm eroberte. Mit einem einzigen Track, ohne Label und ohne Promotion - ein Beweis dafür, dass Musik durchaus für sich selbst sprechen kann. Sein Track ist in acht europäischen Ländern quer über beinahe alle erdenklichen Charts auf Platz 1 gegangen und belegt die oberen Ränge in zahllosen Downloadportalen (u.a. in den Beatport-, iTunes- und den offiziellen Charts) - das ist ein erstaunlicher Erfolg, den es so noch nicht gegeben hat und der einen Meilenstein in der Geschichte der Dance Music setzt. In der Folge musste sich der 24-jährige Gedanken machen, wie es weiter gehen soll, mal ganz abgesehen von den sich pausenlos aneinanderreihenden DJ-Gigs in ganz Europa. Brad Peterson delivers the 25th release from Glasgow's 7th Sign Recordings. The imprint is back with a bang as Scotland-based American producer Brad Peterson (also of Moods and Grooves) serves up deep and spiritual sounds with shades of Larry Heard interwoven with the unique, abstract, thoughtful, groovy sound that is all his own. A powerful remix by house music hero Neville Watson (Clone Jack for Daze, Creme Org, Rush Hour, Poker Flat, Permanent Vacation) completes this fine addition to the remarkable 7th Sign catalogue.

Few new techno artists of the past years gained as much momentum as Recondite. His atmospheric, driving, bleak tracks are techno to the core. But they are much more. They are not Techno about Techno, music reprocessing other music, but music about emotion and experiences. In dealing with themes like longing, nostalgia, romanticism and the general uncertainty of being human, the productions of the thoughtful Bavarian introduce a new range of issues and emotions. His music is widely available through many releases on renowned labels such as Ghostly, Hotflush or Dystopian, but it never reveals its mystery. It is charming, yet serious, it is beautiful but dark. It is the soundtrack for a perfect night out, and it reveals a profound insight into the abyss of the human experience.

With Iffy, his third album, Recondite tries to introduce a wider audience to his basic interest: the feelings and emotions that are hidden in the dark. Recondite does not present the arrangements and structures on a silver platter, but leaves room for interpretation. He is not interested in getting blurry or arbitrary tough. Managing to put his moods in a nutshell he does not need words or voices to allow people to relate to his unique personal experience.

The dogs indecisive expression on Iffy's front cover is the major key emotion, leading through the whole record. It is driven by conflicting moods and despite all commitment the outcome always remains open. But there is existential gravity in its core, which makes Iffy more accessible than Recondite's previous works and therefor delivers his idea in yet another - different robe. Innervisions being the platform for this piece of music promises to be the perfect fit as the ever emerging and highly respected Berlin record label's musical ideas and harmonic desires are nicely in tune with the bavarian producers output and personality.

Falling Up in its original Theo Parrish version and the Carl Craig version on the same disc. Nothing more to say. Except that the Carl Craig version finally gets its proper title (also newly remastered versions of both classics, by Stefan Betke). It was never a remix as all the parts are original, created by Carl Craig. As Scott Grooves said when he first heard Norm Talley playing it; "That aint a remix, that's a full-blown Carl Craig track".

It's time for the second release on Diamonds And Pearls in 2012. Two of the most singular and distinct forces in house and techno today team up for a special sonic treat. We are talking about the two alechmists XDB and Kassem Mosse. So get yourself ready for two extended journeys into techno, house and beyond. XDB's "Ekatem" is a driving, rough and ready house track with a beautifully bubbling square bassline and dirty synth work.
On the flip XDB is joined by Kassem Mosse for an exploration into the outer reaches of house music. "Omrish" is a gritty-yet-atmospheric jam, full of shimmering chords and floating synth melodies which are puntuated by double kicks and crisp cymbals. Mesmerizing stuff.

After releases from Terriers and New Jackson, Major Problems welcomes the Compassion Crew, who returns with another session of impeccably sourced cut-and-paste house music. CC's 'Masters Of The Gentlemanly Art' is proto-house/nu-beat-ish bruiser, while his 'Panic Chicago' version gets lost in the groove. MOS Recordings is proud to present its next album project, namely a debut solo full length from Chicago's Ike Release. Ike is an accomplished solo producer as well as being one half of acclaimed duo Innerspace Halflife with Hakim Murphy, and has a long and fruitful relationship with MOS Recordings.
For the last five years or so, Ike has been releasing a mind-expanding brand of analogue rich music that continues in his native Chicago's fine traditions without resting on the usual tired tropes. Labels like MOS, Machining Dreams and his own Episodes have released it to date and now this full length, Noir, comes as a fully formed artistic statement that lays out his sound in all its glory.

Says Ike of the LP... The aim with the album evolved since the time it was initially proposed. I was being pretty diligent about sending (the MOS boss) tracks I was working on, and really all I wanted to do was showcase who I am musically. 'Noir' is what came about in the end - the title plays into a theme that runs through much of my work, which Steven helped me identify.'

Across ten tracks, Ike unleashes his array of machines (Microkorgs, a machinedrum, MPCs, iPad Apps, cracked soft synths, borrowed Nord Leads, field recordings) and explores deep, textural house, ramshackle percussive grooves, the darkest corners of the galaxy and lots more besides. Opener 'Lost Cities' is an underwater rhythm with gloopy synths and stiff drum hits that eases you into the ride. From there, there's the raw, deep jack of 'Precipiate' with its soft acid line, the dishevelled house of 'Vapor' and the gluey synth layers and dreamy pads of 'Solace'.

'Faded' is a more subliminal and ambient interlude but then the second half of the album kicks again with the celestial soundscapes of the title track, which mange to sound both heavenly and yet aggressive at the same time.

Always managing to coax maximum feeling and atmosphere out of his tools, Noir is a true journey into the deep that will leave you feeling somewhere altogether different.

As Chinatown thaws and drips into spring, so arrives the debut vinyl release from the hardware scientist CLOUDFACE himself. The record appears as a breath of foreign air; a lucid recreation of memories emblazoned in the cosmos. "Devonian Garden", the definite lurcher of the bunch, kicks off the 12" as a 3, possibly 4D horizon opens up through the leaves of some far-off cerebral jungle. If the moon landing truly was a hoax then this cut assures us that we still have taken that "one giant leap for Man" on the lunar steppes. Next up the A2 emerges as "Otcho" - a mystified and isolated groove that hangs off the left side of a crushed snare - this cut is the equivalent of an SOS signal inside the pineal gland - our loneliness however not to our dismay.
