Brand new Italian label “WeDoThings” is happy to introduce “The Beetools” with the debut album ‘SoulNova: The Magical Tones Revenge’.

“The Beetools” are a four elements crew who love music and mostly enjoy live playing instruments and synths.

Their roots start from Latin and Electronic Music as well as Funk & Jazz, inspired and influenced by Mambo & Samba rhythms too.
Starting from here, they have joined together and created an Italian soup/group as follows:
Original Recipe:
- take four poor guys with different music styles and put them in a mixing bowl
- add few spoons of keys, flutes and some drums
- put inside a pinch of synths
- mix and fry 180 grams of magical sound
- a sprinkle of groove and trumpets on top
Everything seems to work fine and now it’s cooked to perfection, ready to please your ears.

The third and final EP from the ten year anniversary series by French label D3 Elements is another one that offers a wide range of excellent grooves. To kick off, Jason Hogans takes us into woozy late night territory with muffled leads and lazy breaks, then Zopelar heads for the cosmos on his radiant synth laced house offering 'Resolution.'

Malik Hendricks keeps it low key and slow with his intimate basement sounds on 'Green Mango' then Meftah rebuilds on a dusty Theo Parrish tip with 'Maha Shatki.' Damar Davis offers pure cosmic deep house lushness on closer 'Kiss In The Dark.'

Affter his stunning ‘Resonance’ record for the mighty 2000Black, K15 returns home to Esencia for his next ofering – e State Of Play. Devoted, still is a lush number, where delicate harmonies whirl around the soulful composition.

time reveals is a diferent afair. Sizzling percussion, warm pads and a hety slice of low-end combine to create a bouncy afair – primed for dancers and listeners. state of play closes out the EP in fine form. e opening chords, the Moog lead, the spirited percussion come together to create an infectious slice of music.

After the first ep "the brazilian edits", Biga and Mirko Casalini are back on their label with a second bunch of edits from disco to afro and funk music.

First up on side A we have that man again Stefano De Santis with Broken Fusion, a typically wonderful track pushing all the right buttons, a much darker affair than his previous three tracks for us. Following on from there we have Melchior Sultana who rounds off side A in style, where Malta meets Detroit, a peak time track for the dancefloor.

This is Melchiors third appearance on one of our Best Of Various compilations and all three are superb pieces of music. Onto side AA and Jose Rico with two tracks both superb deep journies into Detroit musical territory. Jose is joined on both by Ruben Valero, both Silence Sentences and Minimalism are must have tracks for anyone who is a fan and follows Jose’s music. Finally Caruso serve up some Latin inspired music and beats for a heavy workout.

“Kwahu” is an ode to Blay’s Ghanaian/Liberian heritage. Taking inspiration from highlife and afro-jazz, Kwahu tells his musical interpretation of the myths of the Kwahu Mountains featuring the excellent sax by Mart Boumans.

The extended mix translates the original version into a percussion-heavy call to the dancefloor with wading breaks and undeniable energy.

Flipping over to the B-side, we start off with the title track “Spiritual Emersion”. This deep cut starts off with lush jazzy chords layered on top of a solid four-to-the-floor groove. It ventures off into a dreamy calypso-esque rhythm with an enticing synth lead and swinging percussion.

Closing the EP is a tongue-in-cheek banger suited for some of that sought after euphoria. “Out Of The Darkness” deceives you by its modest minimal introduction, but soon after it hits you on the head with energetic synths. It grabs you with an infectious melody, vocal chops and clever production tricks to guide you through the peaks and valleys of the track.

As we journey on Private Society Vol. 4 connects the dots from the events of the Oasis LP and Abstract Soul. Discerning listeners and collectors clearly ascertain the unfolding story, as pieces of the puzzle begin to form a clear picture in the tapestry of a new trippy fusion house sound. Singular in form and output Fred P continues to go deeper into his ever evolving sound pushing the music forward into the future.

Flankup Recordings strikes again! This time with the first issue of a brand new catalogue, inaugurated by a substantial release: a stunning five-track EP by Il Mare Di Fronte, the newest moniker of Paolo Russi (Discojuice), co-founder of the Milanese record label together with Francesco Bellini.

The Disco/Boogie tinged record, which will be released both on vinyl and digital versions from the 30th of June 2022 onwards, also features a great remix by the man himself DJ Rocca and his ‘Salsedine’ version of the title track.

Here comes another genre-bending 12" knockout on our 'Cheesy Lover' sublabel: Donnie Moustaki delivers a melange of jazz-infused disco garnished with hip hop and a pinch of house on top. A combination of sampling and synths with the tender voice of Imaginary Friend on the A-side and a wired keys inferno with XCVIII on the B-side. Remixes from Bremen based Warpath & Ranko and Scissorwork from Bristol on top. Rumor has it weed and the spheres of the universe were also involved in making this EP.

When Jazz Meets Italo-Disco. Two Italian legends meet and deliver a unique contemporary jazz-house fusion! ''Stefano Cantini is a well-known saxophonist in the Italian and international jazz scene. In recent years he has focused on a project called Living Coltrane with Ares Tavolazzi, Francesco Maccianti and Piero Borri. Stefano and Maurizio Dami (Alexander Robotnick) had worked together for a while in the mid '80s and Stefano also played on GMM's album (''Love Supreme'' is the best known track). Since then, Stefano has focused totally on Jazz whilst Maurizio Dami produced World Music in the '90s and later on, under the artist name Alexander Robotnick, retrieved in 2000, turned to electronic music again, so the two musicians lost track of each other for 40 years. Robotnick says, ''In March 2023 I received a call from a club in Pisa, Cantiere San Bernardo. They asked me whether I could play live with Stefano ''Cocco'' Cantini on the occasion of a special event dedicated to Giovanotti Mondani Meccanici. I called him and he answered enthusiastically. Shortly before the concert we rehearsed at the Follonica Music School which he directs. He improvised with me on the bases of my live. We liked our rehearsal and a few days later, on June 2nd 2023, we played in Pisa with much success. So came the idea of doing something together. We decided to produce an EP featuring 3 tracks. On some of my bases Stefano created a harmonic texture to improvise on. I mainly took care of the arrangement and the production. But what we play is the result of improvisation, with hardly any editing. It's amazing how we managed to work together so smoothly after so many years, as if we had never stopped. We called this project 'Robocok'''. They are modal tracks with a techno approach and harmonically open. Almost a provocation to the staticity of contemporary dance. On ''Francocco'' and ''Frigiococco'' Stefano plays soprano sax whilst on ''Afrococco'' he plays alto. Guglielmo Bottin took the task of making a remix. He picked ''Francocco'' and skilfully turned it into a pure drums and piano groove. Perfect for the dancefloor.''

For their 15th outing, cultured Spanish label MATE welcomes Shaka for three blissed-out deep house delights. You are soon sunk into a warming world of groove with opener 'Sacred Nightfall' (feat Eve - Maix mix) which layers up dreamy pads and angelic, effortless vocal sounds over dusty drums. 'Magic Plan' is no less sumptuous with its neat and noodling piano chords over slightly more upright drums all making for a nice jazzy vibe. 'Shift In Structure' closes out with an even more jazzy feel thanks to the live-sounding drums and charming Rhodes which all whip you into a spin.

Heralding the release of Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz, the forthcoming album by Detroit-born-and-based artist, Waajeed, the 12” features further examinations of the track’s motifs by the vaunted Detroit collective, Underground Resistance, Zambian producer SHE Spells Doom, and a special reimagining by Waajeed himself featuring live drums.

Alongside the LP version the three remixes further explore the links between Techno and Jazz, styles both founded on African traditions that make commentary on the present but are always oriented to potential hereafter.

On the People Mover Remix, Waajeed enlists the talents of Zo!, Tall Black Guy, Michele Manzo, and more to explore one extreme of the track’s musical heritage. Syncopated drums, driven by a full and bright snare drum, firmly place this version in the sphere of contemporary Jazz emanating from Detroit and cities across the US.

Coming from an album inspired by revolutionary efforts against oppression in Detroit and in Black locales around the world it is entirely fitting that Underground Resistance should provide their take on Motor City Madness. UR’s Mike Banks follows the lead of the original’s melange of genres. By thickening the bassline, peppering the mix with extra brass from the Mad Brass Horn Section, and adding strings courtesy of Six Mile Strings, UR further explore the dynamic intersection of music, history, and geography.

SHE Spells Doom closes the remix package with his second release on Tresor after his contribution to 2021’s Tresor30 compilation. The Zambian artist trims Motor City Madness down to the bones of the brass section and infuses them with a gqom beat, simultaneously referring to Jazz and Techno’s deepest roots in Africa, as well as suggesting where they might be headed in the future.

Juan Pablo Torres was one of the best trombone players in the Latin-jazz community of the second half of the 20th century.

He was the director of Algo Nuevo and a member of Irakere, two of the leading exponents of Afro-Cuban jazz in the 1970s and 1980s. He has also directed various Cuban supergroups such as Estrellas de Areito and Cuban Masters.

Almost all of his albums were made for Areito de La Habana, Cuba.

‘Cuba Disco’ was the only album released in his name in Europe; recorded in Milan in 1984 and produced by Aldo Pagani. In Italy in the same year he participated in two records by Pino Daniele and one by Astor Piazzolla.

Accompanied by his faithful Gruppo Algo Nuevo, with the addition of some guests such as the Italian jazz guitarist Angelo Arienti, his traditional Afro-Cuban vein is contaminated by disco and balearic moments; as in the case of the magnificent ‘Bermuda Triangle’ which anticipates the current atmosphere of Nu Genea.

Is deep house music dead? On HM008 - Retrospect, Hardmatter co-founder and label honcho Zapata flips that notion on its head, and proves that it’s anything but. The Berlin-based, New York-born producer debuts on his own label with 6 thoughtful slabs of deep, padded, and jazzy house, informed not only by the legacy of his native city but also by the trying times that all house lovers face. The EP begins with the spaced-out, beatless ambient yarn “A1 Bray From Beyond,” a cinematic rumination as moving as it is nostalgic, before transitioning to “A2 Miguel,” a modern deep-house anthem dedicated to Mike Huckaby. “A3 Birchy’s Lament” follows, a hauntingly strewn, piano-driven slab of the early-morning deep house certain to move dancers into thoughtful submission. The B-side finds Zapata in jazz mode: like a Strictly Rhythm record, the 3 dubs on the backside—featuring key and piano solos by long-time collaborator and label hero Javonntte—pull together the best of the producer’s musical tendencies, from slapping basslines to jazzy interludes.

Brian Harden is one of the many talented Chicago house producers out there who sit just below the top talent in terms of global reputation. But he shouldn't - his sound is as musical and timeless as any from the Windy City. He's been grafting since the 90s and now taps into that long career with a new collection of rare cuts and unreleased gems on this Instinctive Meditation album for French label D3 Elements. There is textbook heavy drum work and spaced-out synths on 'Zion' before warmer, deeper basement cuts like 'Nomadic Jazz'. 'Yeah' is a party starter with clattering percussion softened by more jazzy chord work and 'Motionless' allows you a moment to catch your breath on some cosmic ambiance. The rest of the record takes in deeper techno, samba-tinged deep house shufflers and star-gazing beauties for 4AM. Proof if you needed it that Harden is a boss.

The city of Rome once again confirms the excessive abundance of records produced for the music industry, television and, even, shopping malls. The mistery that surrounds the musicians involved in these sessions makes the journey even more interesting and tense. “Was really that drummer involved in that record?” – “I don’t know” or, of course, “I don’t remember…”. Certainly, a new distinctive brick has now been added to the Italian Jazz-Fusion heritage.

If there is one artist that has truly become synonymous with Jazz re:freshed over the years, it is the energy, the skill, the showmanship, the innovation, the genius that is Kaidi Tatham.

The vibe behind the west London/broken beats/nu-jazz scene as a core member of Bugz In The Attic, Kaidi's 5ive continues the lineage of jazz, fusing it with his own twisted funk, boogie and eletronica.

The 10 year anniversary of its first release sees Kaidi's 5ive presented for the first time ever on vinyl.

The reference of this double EP is well known to hip hop fans: it's 1985 - Dougy Fresh and Slick Rick released the track "La Di da Di", which became a classic of the genre and one of the most sampled tracks in its history. The track, which sounds like a catchphrase, is a perfect description of the singer's rhythmic and melodic flow, which effortlessly flows over Mr Cole's warm, organic beats. The symbiosis is almost perfect. Tinged with heady refrains, the EP can be listened to without moderation. The mix is based on the remix of the track "It's a boy" by the Large Professor released in 1994. Slick Rick's nonchalant and calm tone inspires the duo to mix the vocals lightly - a desire to harmonise all the elements of the EP for a fluid and almost uninterrupted listening experience from start to finish. The duo seduces with its rhythmic and melodic poetry, soft to the ear, which can be listened to over and over.

Without question, Reggie Dokes is a soldier of Deep House. Touches of jazz and otherworldliness find there way on his latest EP with Contrafact Records. Three tracks ranging from the sultry to the beyond, putting the listener into a blissful state. A must have for the fans of Deep House.

Kampana put together arguably their hottest 7" so far, with two heavily in demand tracks from Brazilian producer Ruas, who shows his creativity, blending unique samples with live musicians.

"All the Way Down" is a monster jazzy disco-house number, with freshly recorded drums and up-front bassline, taking the groove levels off the chart on a retro soul vocal.

On the flip, "Like You" sees Ruas digging deep to find the unmistakable voice of a true 'royal' legend hyping the crowd in a rare live interlude. Ruas went into the studio with his crew of Brazilian musicians to record a full instrumental to blend with the vocals. The result is a jazz-heavy track that sounds like it could easily have been discovered in the artist's lost archives and will cause a riot on the dancefloor.

This Album serves as a 2023 wrap up, focusing primarily on two releases: Energy Exchange Records Vol. I and 30/70 ART MAKE LOVE. In the spirit of the Energy Exchange family, we have shared the duties of remixing/re-imaging some of our most in demand cuts from the year utilizing our in-house production team and extended family 30/70 collective. Lex makes a welcome return to Delusions Of Grandeur with a brilliant follow up to last years 7 Day Path EP. The Athenian producer, DJ and former record shop owner has been honing his unique sound for the last 7 or 8 years resulting in releases for labels such as Leng, Samosa, King Street, Black Riot and B2. His densely layered textures incorporating lots of live elements and expansive Ron Trent inspired arrangements bring a warm, musical flavour to his productions but without ever losing sight of the dance floor.

Without You sets the tone with touches of acid melting into sun-drenched strings and Rhodes making for an atmospheric tune tailor-made for daytime beach sets and late night dancing under the stars. Both hypnotic and trippy in equal measures, this is the kind of versatile track that will make a big impression and put you under its summery spell. Next up we have Strip Town which features some brilliant live bass bringing a jazz-funk swagger whilst the tasty synth chords ensure maximum deepness.

Flipping over we have a percussive roller going by the name Purity which features the spoken word of Guto Fernandez and sees Lex joining up with regular collaborator Locke. Closing out this special EP Dennis Liber joins
the party injecting pure energy with the help of a serotonin-boosting classic piano house riff and old school house beats.

Razor-N-Tape co-founder JKriv delivers a trio of all-original cuts on his Something Else EP, bringing together a cast of featured hometown Brooklyn talent to center dynamic songwriting with club-ready vibes.

On the A1 title track, a playful funk-laden bassline lays the foundation for an explosive hook and soaring vocal performance from Brandon Markell Holmes. Dynamic live instrumentation take center stage in the soulful Try Again, which builds to an anthemic peak as guests Nic Hanson and Phenomenal Handclap Band intone the song’s hopeful message.

On the flip, the laid-back boogie groover Shoulda Been Me slow-burns with heavy bass, percussive rhythms, and serene synth-work to support the layered vocal textures by Toribio (of Conclave). Detroit legend Alton Miller takes the tune in a classic soulful deep house direction, with a bouncing rhodes pattern revolving over solid drums, and showcasing Toribio’s vocal prowess in a new light.

Lisbon’s Larry Quest joins the Pleasure of Love crew with an impressive sonic journey of all things house, balearic, and tribal.

After releases on Delusions of Grandeur and Log Records, Quest delivers his most refined EP yet, harnessing his knack for live/analog synthesis & soulful, hypnotic grooves.

'Blue Tide' leads off the EP with a wave of pads and deep sax soulfulness before giving way to a bubbly, modular groove. 'Hold Function' finds LQ exploring a tribal, almost trance-y take on Detroit techno/house foundation. And on the title track the producer eases into a throwback mid-90s house vibe with bursts of M1 organ and Rhodes stabs.

TLM034 will be our 45th release since 1996 and 25th since reforrning the label in 2019. It seemed inevitable that this release would be one of our Best Of Various EPs featuring new and established artists as we have done previously. Starting off this milestone release we have the ever growing Cumulative Collective with AskaFara.

An Epic 10 minute track pushing all the right buttons for listening and the dancefloor alike. Featuring Cormac Fulton, Stefano De Santis, Takashi Nakazato, Ayumi Suzuki and Mitsuru Tanaka, musicians from England, Italy and Japan respectively. All brought together by head of the label Steve Conry who also produced and mixed the track with Stefano De Santis. Track 2 on the A side is by a new name to most, Takahiro Fuchigami with Strange Acquaintance. A beautiful broken beat track with a distinctively Japanese sound.

Onto side AA and that kicks off with Melchior Sultana and The Playground. Melchior has previously released on TLM in 2022 and 2023. For 2024 he delivers a superb jazzy deep house track in his own particular Mediterranean style. Next up is Brazilian multi instrumentalist Fabio Santanna with Melô Da Cuíca, a fantastic Brazilian Boogie track. Fabio came to our attention from his release Chega Mais Lincoln on Joutro Mundo’s superb Brazilian label Onda Boa. Finally rounding off the AA side is The Robinson from Italy with Song 1. A brilliant blues tinged broken beat track that gets better every time you hear it.

Daddario debuts at Ragoo Records with the 'Quinto Quarto' EP, a record that fuses beatmaking attitude with funk, disco and electro vibes. 'Quinto Quarto', which means entrails in Italian, is the result of his deep research about roots. From the broken funk of 'Shift' to the heavy percussions of 'Space Lou', each track is full of grooves and details that showcase Daddario's skills on the MPC as well as on synthesizers. The project is enriched by collaborations with percussionist JZP, guitarist Lorenzo Mantovani, bassist Michele Freguglia, trumpeter Matteo Pontegavelli, and two remixes from Astratto and The Mechanical Man.

Celebrating 25 years as a recording artist and 15 years of his label Lazy Days Recordings, Fred Everything teams up with House Legend Robert Owens on ‘I’ll Take You In’. The track was recorded late last year when Robert was invited to perform with Fred in Montreal during a special event by Phil Collins (the artist not the singer!). The event was related to the art installation Bring Down The Walls, which examined racial injustice and the prison industrial complex in the US and Canada, through the unconventional lens of house music.

Robert Owens needs no introduction of course, being the voice behind so many House Classics such as ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’, ‘Mystery of Love’ and of course ‘Bring Down The Walls’. The song was written the night before the studio session after meeting with Fred for the first time.

It all came together naturally and has all the elements of a modern House Classic. Bouncy beats, rich chords and a driven bassline but most important : a song with a positive message and purpose deeply rooted in the tradition of this music we call House. On top of the Classic mix, there are 2 BTDW (Bring Down The Walls) versions, more stripped down, inspired by the event that made it possible.

The choice of Remixer was easy, calling on one of his best friend and longest collaborator Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson who also collaborated with Robert in the past. Off the heels of his recent #1 remix of St-Germain ‘Rose Rouge’, he brought is A-Game incorporating a latin vibe with a quirk, thanks to his modulars and Moogs rig. Atjazz can do no wrong when it’s time to rework a nice song. A true master with a unique vision and dedication to sound.

Colombian artist DFRA links with some of Argentina's finest musicians for a high-class mix of 90s and 00s deep house and a wide array of proper jazz stylings to this new EP on Deeppa, a well-formed young label that will soon hit release number 9. 'Sal Marina' kicks off with shuffling beats and nu-jazz chords that make you want to move, while both 'Green Line' and 'Manits' showcase some superb melodies over more percussive, busy beats that have a great sense of movement. 'Brown Sugar' then gets a little deeper with its withering cosmic lines and heartfelt vocals and the main man Atjazz works ii onto something even more potent before 'Sal Marina (Lay-Far remix)' closes down with a timeless soulful house vibe.

Introducing Alberto Castellana and his electrifying nine-track debut album. Hailing from Italy, Castellana brings the classic Italian signature Nu-Jazz sound to the table.

Accompanied by a trio of exceptionally talented musicians on the piano, guitar, and Rhodes piano, Castellana's debut album promises an in-depth journey through various electronic genres, including House, Break Beat, Drum & Bass, as well as the realms of Jazz.

For a prolific artist as Gerardo Frisina, almost two years without a new release from him seems like an eternity: this brand new 12" EP entitled 'Soul Drum' breaks the silence, giving us three new works composed by Gerardo, made up of four recordings if we consider the two versions of the title track.

This EP anticipates the full album already in the works, scheduled for release at the end of 2022.

Without losing his Latin trademark, Gerardo continues his research into hypnotic and pulsating rhythmic patterns in both acoustic and electronic form, which are now a fundamental stylistic element of his. As on his previous album 'Moving Ahead', the rhythmic style blends naturally with echoes of tribal voices, piano keys and wind instruments (trumpet, saxophone, flute), creating the 'Joyful Sound' (title of the forthcoming album) that reverberates on the surface. With an artist as meticulous as Gerardo Frisina, it is to be expected that even the simplest beat has been deeply thought out and chosen from a potentially infinite sound palette, and this can be heard perfectly in the depth of sound of the four tracks of this release.

"Soul Drum" is dedicated to the loving memory of bassist Enzo Frassi, who contributed to this EP - along with 'usual guests' Fabrizio Bernasconi, Gendrickson Mena, Alfonso Deidda and Ernesto Lopez.

Renowned Italian spiritual jazz master, DJ, producer, guitarist, and bandleader Nicola Conte proudly presents his new album Umoja via London based label Far Out Recordings.

A joyous exultation across ten tracks, Umoja taps into the abundant well of knowledge Conte has amassed over his career as connoisseuring compiler and archivist of deep jazz, latin, afrofuturist, bossa-nova and soul music from around the world. Expressing unity, oneness and harmony in Swahili, Umoja coalesces universal feelings through the multifaceted global music Conte has spent his life studying and researching.

Having released music with Blue Note, Impulse! and Schema records, Nicola Conte’s relationship with Far Out began over a shared love of hard-edged bossa-nova and swinging samba-jazz. Between 2009-2013 Nicola Conte compiled five volumes of forgotten 60s Brazilian music for his Viagem series. He then released his critically acclaimed Natural album: a collaboration with vocalist Steffania Dippiero, featuring jazz standards alongside covers of lesser known Brazilian gems.

The music of Umoja draws on the deep-dug 70's independent spiritual and free jazz sounds, private-press soul records, and African and Afro Caribbean rhythms in Conte’s collection. But he equally recognises his debt to many of the decade’s more celebrated musical icons, such as North American cosmic jazz masters Lonnie Liston Smith and Gary Bartz, and Afrobeat originators Fela Kuti and Tony Allen.

Since founding the Bari-based bohemian cultural movement and club night Fez at the dawn of the nineties, Conte has proven to be a pillar of the contemporary, international soul-jazz scene. Composed alongside his long time friend, guitarist Alberto Parmegiani, Conte brings together a dazzling host of guests from around the world, including award winning British vocalist Zara Mcfarlane, acclaimed Finnish saxophonist Timo Lassy, french vibes player Simon Mullier, US vocalist Myles Sanko, rising South African drummer Fernando Damon, former Roy Hargrove bassist Ameen Saleem and Serbian flute sensation Milena Jancuric.

Proudly revivalist, Umoja was recorded direct to analog tape, with just two takes for each track. “Searching for an unadulterated, spontaneous, almost improvised feeling”, Nicola made sure that the few overdubs were also transferred to tape in order to retain the colour and warmth of the analog sound. “Very little post production or editing has been added, so what you hear is largely what happened in those magical live sessions”.
