Jonathan Moore, the man behind Leftside Wobble not only shares a name with the legendary Coldcut producer, but he's been involved with the underground music scene for almost as long.
Having started out at Paul Oakenfold's Project Club in the late 80's he went on to residencies at seminal house nights Solaris & Kinky Disco. The nineties & noughties saw him at the helm of a series of memorable club nights for Dazed & Confused magazine as well as regular appearances at the now sadly defunct Kings Cross establishments - The Cross, The Key & Canvas.


In recent years he's better known for his productions, edits and reworks he puts out under the Leftside Wobble banner - his rework of The Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows' was recently picked by Greg Wilson in his 'best ever' selection of edits/reworks. And his electric approach to music production has seen him commissioned for remix work for a diverse set artists including Bryan Ferry, The Temples, Detroit Swindle, Public Service Broadcasting, Ambient Jazz Ensemble and The Time & Space Machine.


x-cursions has been set up to celebrate the eclectic in dance music and specifically not be tied to any particular sub-genre. The first EP contains a classic Loleatta Holloway disco edit, an Ike & Tina Turner Balearic soul rework, and an electro funk track that harks back to the production style of Arthur Baker (already being supported by a diverse set of DJ's including Bill Brewster, Chris Coco, Kev Beadle and Justin Robertson). And the social media buzz is already cooking on these tracks, so far they've been favorited approx. 1500 times on Soundcloud and received approx. 20,000 combined plays.

Brooklyn DJs Sound Advice for quite some time now, garnering massive national attention for their "Gnarls Biggie" remix project and their "Play Anything" mix CDs. Now the duo comprised of Elsewhere and K. Ross have stepped up to release their first 12" geared straight towards the dancefloor and likeminded DJs.

Fantastic new 12' compilation featuring four more wonderful sunkissed obscurities unearthed from the vaults of the Balearica camp, including three must-have floor filling cover versions. First up is 'Don't Stop The Music' by Bits & Pieces, a superb Sly & Robbie produced disco reggae take on the Yarbrough & Peoples classic that found favour at the Paradise Garage as well as on the dancefloors of Ibiza. The main idea for the Luxxury Edit series was to take overplayed and/or uncool songs and turn them into tracks that I myself would want to DJ. Initially the plan was to do this exclusively using the sounds from the original multi tracks, rather than the typical "throw a new beat and some swooshes on it" kind of re-edit.

For Hotel California, the song is so iconic and overplayed that it just felt right and necessary to fuck with it. I had the most of the arrangement together and I liked the vibe, but it was sounding a bit boring as an instrumental. So I started playing with a sequenced synth bass so that it traded off with the bass guitar, and I liked how it started to give it a more futuristic sound. I was dubbing out the Henley vocals but that wasn't working either. So I decided to double down on the future/retro blend and put Don through the vocoder, and it immediately felt right. It was just enough of the original to be recognisable but with a distinctive twist. I love how Greg Wilson originally thought it was an obscure German cover version when he first heard it, that was high praise indeed!

Each of these edits has been its own discovery process: they all start with me listening to every single isolated instrument, finding bits that are exciting or surprising - elements buried in the mix, or even outtakes - and then starting to arrange them until the track has just the right blend of familiar and unexpected.

With his debut album "Swinger" the multitalent from central germany now
wants to conquer the club scene. As DJ and Event-Manager he already has
filled the dancefloors. Now his songs should do likewise. Inspired by
the infamous clarinet-grooves of the roaring twenties and biting
trombones "Swinger" connects the organic sound of hand-played
instruments with crunching techno beats.

The album exhausts the composition always a little bit more danceable,
thanks to original instrumentation. But it is more than only DJ-Tools
for the turntables. As the eight tracks on "Swinger" no second run out
of ideas, it will effortlessly earn a wider audience.


BIOGRAPHY

Mano Meter started to play music at the age of 6, learning piano,
trumpet, guitar and later drums. At 13, he started playing in several
bands and started to produce his own songs in different styles of music.

Beside his studies in Media-Economy and Media-Management in Germany, he
founded the company and music label called "Fachwerk Studios" in 2005
with his friends Nadim Kabel (sound engineer and producer) and Anatoli
Neufeld (media designer).

Doing professional music records, event management and high quality
media design, they are looking back to a wide range of experience in
recording musicians in their own record studio. Together they
establisehd an event series called "Fachwerk Elektro" with a high
attention and with up to 1500 guests. Mano and the other Fachwerk
Residents also were booked for external events in cities like Hamburg,
Berlin, Wuerzburg, Offenbach or Kassel.

He plays a mix of Electronic and Techno music with influence of Jazz,
Swing and other genres. With his stylish repertory and choice of music
he sets every party on fire nevertheless he always creates a dynamic mix
of excitment in a soul atmosphere everyone likes and enjoys.

After working as Producer on several Songs from different Artists his
Debut "SWINGER" was released in 2012 as Vinyl, CD & Download.

Following EPs from Matthew Burton and Seuil, the third release on Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch label introduces one of Berlin's most intriguing outsiders: Albert Schwartz. A native of Ghana now based in Germany, Schwartz has been DJing and making tracks for years, but aside from a few gigs with Sammy at Club der Visionäre, has mostly been kept secret until now. With Berry Deep / Drop, he shows a modern and organic style of house that makes him a perfect fit for the Berlin-­-based label. 'Berry Deep' is true to its name: subtle, plodding and atmospheric, driven by an elliptical vocal bit. Much like Ultrastretch's past releases (or old Perlon records for that matter), it's the tiny, meticulous details that breath life into this one, like the bubbling major chords competing with the mournful strings, or the ghostly, almost imperceptible Marvin Gaye samples ('Hey brother! What's happenin....'). 'Drop' brings the energy up a notch without losing its subtle touch. The drums are punchier and have a bit more momentum, but the tone is still somehow hushed. This time Marvin takes center stage, with lines from 'Inner City Blues' strewn across the track. The EP's remix comes from Rhadoo, a core member of Romania's a:rpia:r crew (along with Raresh and Petre Inspirescu) and a past guest at Sammy Dee's Ultrastretch parties at Club der Visionäre. Originally released back in 1981 on the tiny underground disco label Willker, this dancefloor bomb is now hugely in-demand. Both sides are absolute killers - the A side features great vocals from Ike Strong over super funky phat bass and wah wah guitars but don't forget the flip side where the groove get stripped down to the bare instrumental funk with just the relentless driving female vocal 'You can't help but dance when you hear it Boogie land' - she couldn't be more right! Must have.

Remastered reissue of the original 1982 Mirage Records release of the wonderful extended disco mix of Carly Simon's gem Why. A must-have Balearic disco classic produced by the legendary Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic and played everywhere from the early Ibiza parties to the Paradise Garage, this release features both the fantastic vocal and sought-after instrumental versions. This rework of the original adds a funky twist to the beats and bass line."Electric Sheep" is taken from the Philip K Dick book including this portion its title. The theme of this track hints on the nature of our creations and the future possibilities. This particular version contains only the 303 melodies/elements of the original, which is set to be released in the next EP to follow.

The second release on Kutmah's IZWID imprint is a rare collection of bugged out electronic soul from the Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer and poet, Seven Davis Jr. "The Lost Tapes Vol. 1" spans 12 years of experimental, cosmic out-of-body-and-mind music, of mostly four and eight track recordings once lost in storage via a lengthly hiatus due to drug addiction and depression.
Resurfacing in 2012, Seven Davis Jr.'s 'Thanks' appeared on Kutmah's much lauded "Worldwide Family Vol. 2" compilation on Brownswood Recordings, after which the kaleidoscopic artist released the clattering funked beats of "Lo-Fi Vintage" and house-inspired "One" EP.
For IZWID, "The Lost Tapes Vol. 1" is a creative blueprint for Davis Jr.'s brilliantly unorthodox approach with his beautifully raw drums and psychotropic harmonies. "I made a lot of this music many years ago and other labels and artists hated on me for it," says Davis Jr. of the lost tapes. "They said it was too weird, too different, sounded like drug music (it was) and they told me I was going to hell, for 'Pornostar'. Years later; new life, new city, new day and age. I found the music again, which I never stopped loving and decided to send it all to Kutmah.
