Soul Jazz are issuing this seminal super-rare rare-groove album produced by Roy Ayers originally released on his own Uno Melodic label in 1980.


This amazing one-off album produced by Roy Ayers featured the group Eighties Ladies made up of the singing talents of Susan Beaubian, Marva Hicks, Vivian Prince, Denie Corbett & Sylvia Striplin backed by an all-start line-up Roy Ayers band (including Rick James who shares the production).

The anthemic 'Turned on To You" and "Ladies of the Eighties" are both included in this absolutely classic boogie-funk-jazz-soul album from the start of the 80s. Loved by soul boys and jazz heads alike, this is one of the rarest of all classic boogie albums, with original copies fetching upwards of hundreds of pounds for many years now.

Yet another unmissable, under the counter trio of cuts, lovingly crafted from the most unusual of sample sources,
combined with squeeky clean production values that make this a dancefloor dead cert.
Moonshine bears more than a passing resemblance to Carl Craig's monumental 'Throw' and ploughs an equally devastating groove, utilizing, of all things a chunk of Glitter Band's 'Makes You Blind'.
On the flip the off-kilter but irresistble 'Revenge Of The Rock-O-Mites' is a re-imagining of the lead track from The Incredible Rock City Band's impossibly rare Electro-Funk EP from '83 & sounds like Allan Parsons remixed by Dexter.

Black Cherry is made up of the writing duo Megane Quashie and Guilhem Fraisse with very different musical background and influences. The two fused together a perfect blend of Electro, dance and rock to make the sound that there called 'Black Cherry'

Black Cherry has played many high profile shows like Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, V Festival, Connect Festival, Balaton Sounds, SXSW, CMJ and many more. The duo has also tour with the likes of Siousix Sioux, The Wombats, Iglu & Hartly and Akala.

Black Cherry continues to develop their sound and have been working on the first physical release with Colin Emmanuel (Beta Band) on ISM Records.

The long waited Ep will form a tribute to lost but not forgotten band member Rob Moore who passed away on 22nd Sept 2009.

On the A side Newcastle meets Lisbon in this crazy funk bossa rockabilly bomb. A track that was originally born in Lisbon (Portugal) by Dedy Dread and transported through space landing on Newcastle (UK) soil to be treated with the unmistakable drum hellish sound of SMOV. The final result being this crazy ass shaking bossa funk rockabilly jazz dance bomb!

Over on the flip and hailing from Hamburg Germany, Funktomas drops a some what classic B Boy anthem "Shack Up" over some old skool flavour female chants creating a simple but very effective banger! I bet you cant put one of these in your turntable without droppin into the caterpillar!

After bursting onto the scene in 2007 with their debut release on 4th Floor - the English-Swedish combination of Wipe the Needle have since gone on to produce for prestigious labels such as Slip n Slide, Raw Fusion, Deeply Rooted & Defected Records. Known for their ability to cut it on a variety of dancefloors, the guys have the knack of delivering a varied production sound ranging from purist & soulful right through deeper & clubbier.

Released in 1982, this is one of those forgotten gems that may ignite a party but you'll never know the name of. Its demand grew when it was one of the stand out tracks taken from Metro Area's incredible Fabric Mix CD in 2009. Backed with another winner - a dark electro ballad, 'La Fille Qui Rit', you need this record in your life!

The full details of The Z.A.C.K. has been lost in the cosmic wilderness... however, we know this to be true... They produced this incredible debut album in 1979, that French composer Robert Loubet was the brains of the operation and that this LP produced one single, the albums opener "Mister Satellite".

It's the final leg of the Wild Geese African DJ tour and Flashback's intrepid dj duo are nursing a jungle sized hangover after a marathon 8hr set along the banks of the Zambeezi.

On the long, dusty bus journey back to Scrondonday Airport they are awoken by a chubby African youth playing a Smith and Hack mix-tape out of his mobile phone speaker. Having not previously slept for 5 days the Geese were not best pleased and challenged the youth to a duel. One thing led to another and before long the youth led them through a waterfall and into a crypt said to be haunted by the ghost of Ron Hardy.

"I am Badonday The Eternal" bellowed the youth as he pulled a dat from his pocket. Suddenly the cave filled with golden shards of light and began to fill with dry ice as the glowing tape was placed into a dat machine previously owned by David Attenborough in the 70's. The Wild Geese looked on in amazement as the sound of disco-house made a comeback right there and then. Badonday then started screaming at the Geese to run back to the waterfall as the ghost of Ron Hardy entered the crypt with a giant pair of disco scissors. "Dudes, wait! Let me do an edit, man it needs an edit!" screamed Ron as a massive ball of stone came rolling into view. Badonday and the Geese ran towards the waterfall, just managing to roll under the descending crypt door before being crushed by the giant stone ball. Welling up, Badonday turned to the Wild Geese "You must take this back to New York and press it onto vinyl before someone else does! You are my only hope".

Side A : 'Baby'
It is not easy task to turn the familiar melody into something more interesting, however Yamwho~ made great intro, great arrangement, instrumental part works too.

Side B1 : 'So In Love'
Hypnotic funky intro, effective key riff, atmospheric chorus, 'so in love with you' hook mixed nicely with other vocal lines too.

Side B 2 : 'Keep On U'
Kicks off with jazzy keys with shuffling drum & bass, beautiful strings, male vocal -soulful, great horns.

Finally levelNONzero is going to release this strong EP from Andreas Mügge aka D.Diggler. Three grooving house tracks, which fit perfectly into springtime and the upcoming ibiza season. Already played by international DJs like: Nick Curly, Josh Wink, Tobi Neumann and many more...
