Welcoming the inimitable DJ and Producer Dan Shake with his forthcoming EP Verde, set for release on May 26 2023.
Renowned for his infectious charm in the booth and an expert ear for funk, soul and disco rarities, the producer who cut teeth making maximum impact dancefloor groovers is now taking an introspective new direction. Dan was inspired after his relocation to Devon from London where a new found feeling of escapism and appreciation for nature allowed him to experiment with his own sound more than before, including using his own vocals at the forefront for the very first time.

Dan Shake (Daniel Rose-Weir) began his notoriety with the Mahogani Music released 3AM Jazz Club / Thinkin’ in 2014, using Moodymann’s seal of approval as a springboard for his ambitions. Even as dancefloor-igniting releases piled up year on year, such as the Ibiza-smashing ‘Claudia’s Trip’, or any number of Shake Tapes white label edits, Shake’s expertise as a DJ began to match his production chops. This makes for two combined sides of what Dan Shake represents: an explosion of colour, variety and flavour, no matter whether he’s jamming on a rotary in the booth, or juicing fresh joy from old samples in the studio. Basements, lofts, tents, festival stages with the production dialled up to 11 – all are welcome opportunities to let loose. But as his sound has evolved and his reputation as a killer DJ has grown, Shake’s love of connecting to the dancers in front of him has remained, well, unshakable.

Salomo brings a double EP of tech and progressive house to R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings. This disc, RM12018.2 (Land) takes you up for a cruise through unknown landscapes before RM12018.2 (Water) takes you deep down into the depths. Both EPs are pieces of an entire work but are availably individually.

Two generations of electronic music talent will collaborate for the first time this March, as Circoloco mainstay Seth Troxler teams up with well-established fabric resident Jaden Thompson on Talking Walls. Soon-to-land on Crosstown Rebels, the release signifies a career milestone for the young Midnight Parade head.

Talking Walls embodies the techy, house-driven sound with which each producer has established themselves. The four-four groove retains a punchiness throughout, with textured layers arriving subtly as the track progresses. From shimmering keys to eerily danceable synth pulses, we’re taken to the setting of Circoloco and beyond courtesy of a reverberating lead vocal, one that twists and turns to leave us dancing and hungry for more.

Seth Troxler is one of electronic music’s most instantly recognisable artists, having carved out his own unique path as a cultural commentator, art curator, restaurateur and entrepreneur. A multi-faceted modern artist: he has held residencies at talismanic music institutions, run numerous record labels, and pursued his own solo recording career (including the recent Play In The Dark collaboration with The Martinez Brothers on Crosstown Rebels, and Lumartes that kickstarted CircoLoco Recordings in Summer 2021).

Jaden Thompson has progressed from a promising new name to an established international talent in little time at all. A firm favourite of Radio 1's Pete Tong, he’s no stranger to being top of the digital charts with his last single, Only One, picking up more than a million digital streams. Now head of his own record label, Midnight Parade, 2022 looks set to be a standout year for the thriving British artist.

Taslo, an emerging name in contemporary house music, presents the inaugural release on his own ‘Groove Concept’ imprint; ‘Backshift EP’. Showcasing an effective fusion of rounded timbres and body-rocking rhythms, this red-hot four-tracker is poised for sustained club usage.

‘Swop Shop’ kicks things off in compelling style with a coalition of propulsive drums and punchy bass. The swing setting gets ramped up for ‘Basic Principles’, where shuffling percussion and brawny resonances give way to a more explosive trajectory.

No momentum is lost over on the B-side, where ‘Globule’ sets in motion a sequence of pointed stabs and sub-bass jabs, resulting in a hypnotic groove that persists in its charm. The joint concludes with ‘Side Burner’, as the dynamic eases and languid, shimmering harmonies rise to the fore.

Tis time to travel the the trail to the third turnout that we left there for you in the gloom. So let's not waste any more words (and 'T' letters) and get into it. First up is JOHANNES KLINGEBIEL, whose 'All Around Me' is all about reduction. Roland drums, bassline, one or two synths, that's it. And it bangs! As does 'Toe Sucker', the acoustic evidence that a lot of chefs can cook up something extra tasty indeed, even if the ingredients come from three different continents, as TUNNEL SIGNS, DAVID MARSTON and MAX SCHMITT bring them along from their hometurfs in Australia, America and Europe, with a little extra flavouring provided by Johannes Klingebiel. The product is a spicy slow burner, with a healthy portion of acid added to the mix. Turn the record around and you'll find Paris poster boy SUNROM getting his voodoo thing on with 'Shaman Echoes', which will shuffle its way into the deepest compartments of your bewitched brain. The rest is silence. Ha, no! The rest is 'Wall'. After a 3-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Balance Music's legendary main compilation series returns for its 31st volume with an absolute stunner courtesy of UK DJ and producer, Tim Green.

Following in the footsteps of epic contributions from the likes of James Holden, Joris Voorn and Agoria, the celebrated artist of labels such as All Day I Dream, TRYBESof, Cocoon, Siamese and many other acclaimed imprints creates a truly beautiful story on this 2.5-hour mix.

From Panorama Bar to fabric to Burning Man and Amnesia, Green's classy, melodic take on house and deeper techno has been taking him across the world for a good decade-and-a-half now, and it's the sound of his sets that he has sought to capture on this mix-albeit with concessions to a slightly wider range of sounds to suit.

"Some of the songs are definitely more "outside" of the world and genre I am currently operating in" he explains, "but they are equally songs that I love and which I think have a certain crossover into my world and sound. The musicality and musical intent from each song is what's most important. So, this time I haven't tried to find and include all the latest unreleased and unheard forthcoming songs from artists, for the sake of being super fresh as this can be achieved easily in online mixes. Rather I've focused more on the songs I feel represent my sound, even if they are older perhaps, lesser known or slightly alternative." - Tim Green

As well as some quite remarkable exclusive original productions, he also includes eight of his own EDITs in this expansive mix.

From the blissful opening of Tim's own 'Time Doesn't Have to Heal', this is a deeply sensual mix. From pared-back, ethereal, slow-moving beginnings, the mix picks up emotional pace with the delicate guitar arpeggios of Ranta's 'Valor', and a tribal lilt in the groove creates urgency in Travertia's 'Auwald'. His EDIT of Serious Dancers 'Callahan' injects heavenly optimism with its deft piano lines. The playful, mystical, swung melodies of Synesthesia's 'Obbie' segue perfectly into the gently spine-tingling 'Playces' by mredrollo, shifting the gears up once again around the 45-minute mark as the mix begins its "come-up" phase. His own 'Eteri' is one of the mix's true highlights; a brooding, chugging stunner led by a driving bassline and the beautifully melancholic sequence a chime melody. Slang & Technodreamer's 'Pad Destroyer (mredrollo Remix)' lays on a stirring string arrangement and brings levity with it, bringing disc one to a magical close (in the physical version).

More Tim Green exclusives form standout moments in the second half: 'It's Only Lightning'; is a rush-inducing whirl of tingly synth melody, and the dark driving trance-tinge of 'Monster It'. His EDIT of J'EAN's 'STAAHP' seethes with dubby techno energy, urging us towards his sumptuous collaboration with Sebastien Leger, 'Duel' to begin the killer crescendo that rounds this mix off. His new remix of Underworld's classic' 'Two Months Off' is a tremendous and respectful rework, the lilting guitars, and soft tones of his EDIT of Axel Boman's 'Chestunt Heartsprite' are a pure delight, and the sumptuous piano chords of his EDIT of Deividas Bagdanov's 'Champagne' is a fittingly beautiful ending.

Irishman Jimmy Rouge of Orange Tree Edit fame joins the Razor-N-Tape team with a 2-track EP of bumping edit heat.

On the A-side “So Long” flips a cheeky hook over a rub-bery bass-line, with tension-building synth interludes that release into an ear worm of a vocal riff. On the flip, “Movin'” is a deep uptempo burner with piano stabs, rhythmic guitar plucks and an unstoppable groove.

Strong contender for dance record of the year- Red Rack'em's incredibly wonderful and fantastically wonky, Disco Banger, was rereleased on Classic this year.
After a few months of slowly embedding itself in people subconscious, it returns with new mixes.
First up in the marvellously talented KiNK - Strahil is no stranger to Classic, having made a stamp on the label many years ago with his remix 3rd Face. He's gone from strength to strength with his productions which have been accompanied by his glorious live performances. Kink goes in, heads down with some proper techno Wonk. This is indeed a beast.
On the flip Luke Solomon joins forces with Bristol's very own Eats Everything and Lord Leopard, creating a Bristol 'Circle of Three.' The Luke Eats Leopard edit adds a slight bit of conformity to the drums and the arrangement, without taking out too much of the Wonk but taking it ever so slightly into 'house ' territory.
Overall this is a monstrously Wonky package - and just in time for Xmas too.

The Deepshakerz unite with Aaron Pfeiffer for their Crosstown Rebels debit ‘Fire’, back by a remix from, Cameron Jack.

Italian duo Domy Berardino and Mirco Sonatore, aka The Deepshakerz, continue to evolve their take on house music after a decade in the game - releasing material on their Safe Music imprint alongside globally renowned labels including Saved, Cajual, Circus, Moon Harbour and Knee Deep In Sound. Linking up with Miami-based singer/songwriter Aaron Pfeiffer, the iconic voice of Jaden Thompson’s ‘Closer’, the trio of talents make their debut on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels with the vibrant ‘Fire’, with fellow debutant and Abracadabra singee Cameron Jack on remix duties.
A blissful yet driving production guided by Pfeiffer’s alluring vocals, ‘Fire’ is a resonant house offering combining crisp drums with an infectious wavering lead melody, while Cameron Jack’s take strips things back and crafts a medley of organic percussion grooves around the original’s charming vocal interludes.

In the summer of 1989, when Trevor Miller’s Trip City was first released with a five-track cassette EP by A Guy Called Gerald, there had been no other British novel like it. This was the down and dirty side of London nightclubs, dance music and the kind of hallucinogenic drug sub-culture that hadn’t really been explored since Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Maybe this is why Trip City is still known as “the acid house novel” and an underground literary landmark.

But for 2021, Trip City is back and the original soundtrack by A Guy Called Gerald is also being reissued and all five tracks will be available on vinyl for the first time. The Trip City soundtrack on vinyl is only available as a bundle with the book in a special Trip City tote bag.

“I remember back in the 80s, in my hometown, Tony Wilson (of Factory Records fame) was fond of calling Shaun Ryder the WB Yeats of his day. The Dutch producer, composer and recording artist born in Vught, The Netherlands in 1967.

From 1987 to 2007 he has used over two dozen aliases producing Detroit techno, electro, house, experimental and ambient tracks and remixes.
Early 2008 he announced to only use his real name (or his initials MVDV) for future releases.

During the 90's he recorded mainly dance/techno for R&S Records, Outrage Recordings, Apollo Records (Belgium), Djax-Up-Beats, See Saw, ESP and Klang Elektronik and several other labels. Since 1996 he is also releasing music on his own label Signum Recordings. The two sublabels of Signum; Passiflora and Glam, are now both defunct.

He is the founder of Signum Recordings, Passiflora Records and Glam Records.

The minimal imprint from Chicago is back with it’s second vinyl only release featuring 2 heavy hitting producers Nima Gorji and Christian Burkhardt.

Physical Education are back to present Occibel’s latest EP, Better Days. The four track release to transport you into Occibel’s timeless universe, with the treasure of an additional remix by Fantastic Man.

The backroom club was packed with the hottest kids from the street. The movers and shakers wore their finest clothes to get down to the boassanova rock whilst the gangsters and players watched on from behind luxurious red curtains. In the murky shadows some exchanged more than just pleasantaries in the form of parcels and goods. They were devilish figures who existed only by night, when the streets were no longer safe for the do gooders to walk. This was a rough and ready town.
CYRK is set to release a new EP on the infamous Rawax record label. A charming assortment of well crafted house and some sophisticated electro cuts for the club. Rounded up by a fantastci remix from Claude Young!

"In Love Again" first surfaced as part of Red Rack'em's "All I Ever Wanted EP" in 2010 becoming an underground smash.
Soulful vocal samples, and beautiful Detroit strings work uniquly in the Wolf style that we come to expect.



The new remix is uptempo, with skippy drums, and a deep warm feel. This tweaked mix is made for underground dancefloors.


The B side features a brand new track entitled "Latin Techno", which combines filtered chopped up loops layered over huge beats.

Another successful release for Red Rack'em and a fine return to form for Wolf Music.

Rework's classic 2002 cut 'You're So Just Just' gets fresh remixes from Troxler X Crosson and Cinthie alongside an updated version from the act themselves.

Underground mainstays Rework released this standout track on the legendary Playhouse label and it is one that established them as pioneers right from the off. It was followed by several vital albums and releases on the same label, as well as the likes of Visionquest and exlove records.

Here, they revisit their original, which features vocals from Laetitia, and update its cold minimal grooves with fresh energy. The bass rolls deep, and the drums are snappy and upright as the edgy chords keep things full of suspense. Laetitia's soulful stylings are cut up and smeared through the mix to make for a brilliantly driving and emotive track.

Visionquest co-founders and long-time techno talents Seth Troxler and Ryan Crosson also pair off for a remix. Their version is full of trippy sound designs and wiggling hooks. It's a tightly interwoven minimal groove with an afterparty feel, and the original vocals bring their own seductive vibe.

The second remix comes from much-loved Berlin native Cinthie, who runs the Elevate store and 803 Crystal Grooves label. She recently served up a fantastic mix for the legendary DJ Kicks series and brings her timeless sound to this remix. It is raw, dusty and perfect for sweaty basements, as its hypnotic loops and punchy kick patterns are draped in old-school chord vamps.

This is a great update to a dance music classic from a fine selection of scene favourites.

The first release from the label BM founded by Taka si Nakajima who is known by the release from Indigo Area and the activity of Different World with Claude You ng. The EP conpiles the tracks from Takuya Matsumot o who is known by the release from Royal Oak, Fina, Cosmic Blue, Meda Fury and R&S.

Cooling off the spacecraft after readred landed on its destination, their crew spotted an interisting material coming from a hole in the ground. Surprisingly it was the same element that is used to press vinyl so therefore they decided to release a VA.

The Pilot - Ghertz, concentrating on the smooth sine wave flow of the aircraft using his knowledge in modular power

The commander-in-chief - Minube, controlling the unexpected situations happening during the trip using his long years of hard work

Heading up the release is Barcelona based beatmaker - Vince Void, a fitting return to the label. His “Explorer” EP is crammed with dynamite dance floor enthusiasm, moving elegantly between dusty breaks, slick house and space infused electro grooves. Taking care of the remix in a fine manner is Mario Liberti, the Deep In Dis founder bringing the high energy funk for the small hours of the night!

First up is “Phase Finale”, setting things up in a playful mood, the elasticated groove drives the track as otherworldly pads and synths wander blissfully around the heart of the production. Classy club room action from Void ready for the summer floors. More of the same in title track “Explore” quirky samples flash in and out as the journey unfolds, another certainty for the record bag. Mario Liberti’s remix immediately gives you a nostalgic rave vibe, huge broken drums, rave stabs and sub heavy bass make this a modern day anthem.

On the B side Void’s innovative collaboration with Alex Garcia takes the helm - “Access Denied”. Seductive spoken word draws you into the meticulously arranged trip, unexpected twists and turns continue to appear before you. Driven from the get go is the final track “The Vision”, tinges of acid conversing with the explosive and chunky drums patterns.
