the '90's. Known for their universal appeal and appearing on over 20 different labels worldwide, soulful, timeless grooves are his

Culprit continue their winter scouting tour of Europe in search of young producers on the brink of creative greatness. For their 32nd EP release, the label makes a stop in Barcelona, recruiting the emerging talent of Argentian-born Nicolas Abalos aka Shall Ocin to join the cause. Ocin's 'Crash Into My Love' EP is part of an exciting first wave of accomplished music arriving from the artist and expands the label's exploration of deep, just left-of-center modern house music.
Yet another gifted and hard working producer who's successfully crafted his own sound in a very short period of time, Shall Ocin is in the midst of an artistic breakthrough with distinct releases recently on Leftroom and Ellum Audio. Striking in its crisp sound design and adventurous in its sonic ideas, 'Crash into My Love' is the work of a self-assured talent. Its three originals fall within the underground dance music spectrum that Culprit specialises in: deep and nuanced, yet propulsive and dance-floor ready; placed perfectly between primal and cerebral, between esoteric and immediate.
The EP carries a few coherent themes: its heavy electronic bounce underpinning jazzy instrumental passages that belie the producer's deep musicality, with slightly eerie vocal touches - Shall's own - connecting the dots. 'Crash Into My Life' is the EP's most punchy and percussively strong statement and its most dance-floor engaging, with the improvisational electric guitar riffs adding a special element. The vibe is deeply nocturnal and foreboding. 'Don't Come Here' also bristles with the bouncy energy, its processed vocal the most energetic part of the EP. 'My Little World' is the most plaintive and emotional track on the release, its acoustic guitar and bassline parts complimenting the hopeful vocal hook.

Culprit's Canadian compadres, My Favorite Robot, make a much welcomed debut appearance on the label, delivering a slice of contagious electro funk with their interpretation of the title track featuring heavy bassline riffs sure to get many a floor moving.

Discerning Austrian label and party of the same name, Praterei, kick off 2013 with their sixth vinyl release, this time a various artists EP leaning on the well respected likes of Chicago Skyway, Ethyl, 7 Citizens and Snuff Crew. Since the label started in 2010, deep house of an unpredictable nature has been the mo, and that continues again here.
Mysterious jack lovers Snuff Crew take the lead with an unsurprisingly old school flavored slice of house. Raw and unpolished, classic hi hats and sturdy kicks set the tone beneath colorful stabs and increasingly wild percussion: it's simple and most effective.
Praterei co-owner 7 Citizens s 'Perse' is darker and deeper, a nagging hook snakes about menacingly as a starry night sky of melodies reveals itself above. Esteemed Chi Town man Chicago Skyway's track 'Shy Girl' is anything but, instead it's a gauzy and derelict house track with scattered drum hits caked in dust and grime.
Finally, secretsundaze man Ethyl closes out a dark and delicious EP with a feels-like-you're-floating, dubby house track that has hits to die for, skating about beneath lush and melancholic chords. Despite this being a various artists EP, there is a common vision amongst the producers here for house music with a difference.

He's one of the founders and residents at Downlo (At DanSane)- Sheffields most celebrated Warehouse party, tucked away on an industrial backstreet surrounded by cutlery factories and long since abandoned little mesters workshops.
Sheffield, over the last two decades has been the hub of the northern industrial rebirth through creative arts, and DanSane is carrying the torch to a whole new generation of people eschewing the mainstream and seeking out something with a little more heart and soul in the city.

Over the last year the space has certainly made its mark, with guests like Delano Smith, Levon Vincent, Efdemin, Dj Deep, Secretsundaze, Babyford, Dinky and John Daly all making the pilgrimage.
Limited to 10 releases it will be a document of this time, and it is hoped, a nod to the possible future...

'Treat Me Right' follows an esteemed remix series of Trus'me classic tracks with treatments from Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Terrence Dixon, DVS1, Ryan Elliott & Vakula.Here's what the man himself has to say as way of an introduction to the new album."Since 'In The Red' I found myself traveling as far as Japan and South America and experiencing new scenes and people that have influenced my sound both in the studio and behind the decks. Reaching 30 changes your perspective on life, so when visiting these strange but intriguing countries I have taken the time to stay for a while and take it all in. Airport-Hotel-Club and sometimes straight to the Airport can take its toll on you.Travelling so much has forced me to change my way of making music, I would say now I have a more 'anoligital' approach to my production techniques. The final production stage will always remain an analogue process but the creative process has become more digital. You can't take all those lovely synths and machines on the road with you. The Laptop is always there where inspiration hits you whether it be on the plane or hours after you're finished in a club.With 'Working Nights' I wanted to create a cohesive hour of music from start to finish, whereas 'In The Red' was a way to push myself and learn new engineering and production techniques, working with live musicians such as Amp Fiddler and Dam Funk. 'Treat Me Right' saw me move into the realm of synths, drum machines to create the sounds of the scene I had been submerged in over the last 4-5 years. Working on new music while on the road is hard, and fragmented sessions all came together once I was stationary in Manchester. The weather surely helps this, it's much easier to be influenced and complete an idea when the sun is not shining outside. I stayed away from the impulse of my love of sampling and musicianship and trapped myself in a room, so that the final outcome would be a true representation on the sound they call analogue."

Ghostly International and Pictures Music join forces to release Dauwd's 'Heat Division'. Sharing an eye for aesthetics and an ear for beautifully poised and spacial production the two labels are proud to announce this exciting new venture. Moving away from the UK sound with which Dauwd made his name, 'Heat Division' is born from a wealth of house and techno influences. Stepping back from releases for some time, Dauwd has refined his productions to create something unique. Retaining the signature sound that drew us to previous singles 'Could It Be' and 'What's There', time spent in his South London studio has refined a new palate. With 'Heat Division', Dauwd creates something uniquely poised between the mechanical automations found in contemporary techno, and the warm and texturally organic compositions we have come to expect from this producer.

This release announces a yet another new addition to the Yoruba family! Hailing from Melbourne, Mike Steva has been a force in the deep house scene in Australia for quite some time. With its culture of commercial music, Mike has taken a stand in being one of the few dj, promoters in the country to focus on the spread of deep, soulful house music. His debut release on Yoruba, Mike brings forth an ep of three of the deepest grooves. The opening track 'New Beginning' is a drum infused floor filler, whereas 'Moment In Time' features the lovely voice of seasoned vocalist George Levin hinted with flowing electric pianos, rolling bass lines and percussive rhythms creating a modern day soulful classic. We complete the package with 'Chiko', A battle of piano stabs, percussion and a driving kick drum makes this a nice addition. As always we hope you enjoy this release and embrace it as one of your own.

Solar One Music is always on the search for new missions and now its time for a new series on this label called "The Crystal Issue". Focus will be more on Acid/Chicago/Detroit/Techno/House which also big influences for the label heads of SOM. All releases will presented on one sided colored vinyls. After Panthera Krause spent the last years smoking at the window or travelling through your speakers with Marbert Rocel and Karocel, he now releases his solo debut Yorikke on Riotvan. It comes as a 12-inch vinyl (300 copies limited edition). Three own tracks clearly show that he's able to dash the groove to the ground and to collar it with disco and house pearls. It's not just that, the EP contains a vinyl-exclusive piano version of Summer Breeze and a chilly remix by Llewellyn aka Lake People as well as a cover made by Panthera Krause himself.

Whiskey Disco #17 is an all-out return to the glory of filtered disco house! It's packed with disco breaks and cut ups, some recognizable
and some obscured through time. Pairing the editing fire of Eddie C and Alkalino on the A side and the groove-based filtering of Cole
Medina and Osmose on the B-side. Make no mistake, each of these will fit perfectly into either house or disco sets and can bridge the
gap betwixt the twain.

Brand new label Contemporary Scarecrow launches this January with a double pack vinyl EP from Chicago house veteran Boo Williams, entitled 'Back To The Future / Looney Chunes Vol.1'. Contemporary Scarecrow is an Australian based fashion and record company bringing you intriguing clothing and music. Here the label's inaugural release kicks things off in style with four fresh cuts from Boo Williams and three tracks from the past repressed for the package and accompanied by full colour sleeves. Boo Williams was propelled into the underground house and techno scene through long time ally Glenn Underground who introduced Williams to music production back in the late 90's, Boo has since gone on to record for reputable imprint such as Josh Wink's Ovum, Rush Hour and Cajmere's Releif.

The release opens with 'Further Teck' a rugged analogue workout employing a weighty kick, shuffling hats and airy ethereal pads, a walking bass lick hook smoothly bubbles away in the background as Williams brings the melodic elements to the forefront with intricate progressive advancements in the groove, displaying his ability to craft deep, melodic house brilliantly.

Following on is 'Total Wreck', embracing crunchy 909 drums and a heady arpeggiated bass groove, the track takes on the form of peak time raw house. Boo delicately introduces swirling synth lines, synthesized horns and smooth Rhodes to create a pulsating house track with an ever-evolving dynamic. On the flip side we have 'Joy Ride', a trippy electronica style track built around off kilter broken drums, warbling synth blips and warm bell chime tones. Williams once again displays his musical abilities radiantly here, blending a fusion of elements and a busy structure to meander around each other yet maintain unity throughout. 'Joy Ride Beats' follows and as the name suggests provides you with the raw shuffling rhythm from the preceding cut.

To close the release Boo offers up thee previously released tracks, starting wih 'Real Tekno', a dubbed out house cut featuring a hooky synth line and strident, crunchy percussion. The track slowly evolves for around three and a half minutes before stripping back the elements and introducing resonant, tweaky 303 synth flourishes to tail out the track. 'Tickle Me' follows, previously release by Boo under his Mandrake guise, the record is a smooth slice of deep melodic house driven by lush strings, jangling ride cymbals and a gritty electronic bass. Simplicity is key here with subtle additions being eased in and retracted every thirty- two bars in true house fashion.

To close the release Williams offers up the near thirteen minute epic 'Big Fat Woman 2000' a punchy filter house track that displays an intelligent use of samples, guitar licks, brass hooks and smooth piano chords make up the track alongside weight drums. Baroque key and structure changes are introduced throughout the cut keeping things captivating throughout. This is an outstanding debut from Contemporary Scarecrow and a clear-cut sign of what's to come from this promising Australian company. No.19 Music looks to Canadian production talent Clayton Steele for its latest single featuring two slabs of electronic excellence and a standout remix from DJ T...

No.19 Music has spread its global musical wings of late, releasing an unbroken string of music from first rate producers based in the US, Mexico, England etc. Now the much revered imprint returns to its Toronto roots with the signing of a stunning new EP from Clayton Steele, a DJ/producer who has been on the radar in his native Canada since the early Nineties. Steele apparently caught the electronic music bug as a teenager living in London, England in 1991, taking his new found love home to Toronto he became a stalwart of the local scene. He has released music previously through My Favorite Robot Records and featured on Nitin's recent single on UK label Save You Records.

His latest musical offering kicks off with title track 'Passion', a supremely hypnotic slice of dark edged house that fuses emotive synth parts with taut drum programming and intense bass tones to provide the perfect sound bed for Steele's own unique vocals, quality stuff. The second of the two original tracks comes in the shape of 'Sleep Walker', a haunting and ethereal vocal affair with a killer rhythm section that is certain to sit in record boxes for months to come. To complete the package we have a remix of 'Passion' from Get Physical linchpin DJ T who delivers a master class in underground house music with his techy and spacious reworking that provides an outstanding alternative to the original.
Clayton Steele's 'Passion' is, as you would expect, another standout record from No.19 Music and is a superb taster for his album that is forthcoming on the imprint in the not too distant future.

Musik for Autobahns is the result of asking Gerd Janson for a collection that starts where previous efforts left off. While Computer Incarnations for World Peace (his compilations for Sonar Kollektiv) concentrated on tipsy new wave music done by jazz-funkers or neo disco-ists, Autobahns has an unintentionally strong leaning towards ambient-not-ambient, kraut pleasers and codeine house, i.e. Industrial Ambient and Electrifying New Age.
It's all new and exclusive material by people who once or twice crossed paths with the compiler.
You will hear Âme with their modular slambient concept sitting next to Amsterdam's Tom Trago off peak time duties, Roman Flügel with an old DAT tape wunderkind that shares a side with Heidelberg's very own Move D in love, outsider dance from CF & Daywalker alias Entro Senestre and Willie Burns as well as a greasy sounding Marco Passarani and finally Tensnake's romantic pop appeal that is a counterpoint to Maxxi & Zeus (better known as Quiet Village) and their 'Passion' for all beauties that lie beyond.
This sometimes unlikely gathering is hopefully unified by its non-parochial view of dance- and living-room floors, ambient noise and its effectiveness as a soundtrack to long rides up and down the Autobahn.

A new project by Dean Meredith and Andrew Meecham (Chicken Lips, Bizarre Inc) delivering some classic jazzy rhodes driven uk house vibes! Classy production and some fine recorded instruments and vocals on the original mix. Dexter & Awanto3 teamed up for the occasion and deliver two fresh and sharp remixes. Arttu, the Finnish boy wonder played around with the recordings too and came up with a heavy 4/4 thump with layers of samples that let the funk out.

KLSUNDERGROUND002 takes the series in a decidedly darker direction and none better typifies this than the work of Kris Wadsworth, the young Detroit native brings his A-Game with 'Rules', a swaggering and moody acid-tinged track that ticks all the boxes of his signature style.


Klasse crew members Mr. Ho and Florian Blauensteiner team up on 'Crescendo' and proving two heads are better than one, the Viennese duo turn in a mean and powerful roller of a track. Arpeggiated synths and stuttered grooves provide a sturdy backbone to a track with bucketloads of attitude.


Upcoming UK House producer Dudley Strangeways lends his hand to flawless swinging grooves and DX style bass hits with 'Kudos', a track that restlessly fidgets and mixes vibes with melancholic pads and organ stabs. 'Kudos' is sure to get feet tapping and hands clapping.


Swedish newcomer, Lemieux debuts on Klasse with 'Bass Unit'. This beautiful and haunting track takes its time and builds up a wonderful momentum, gathering speed with fully analog kicks and claps it blossoms into an unforgettable bassline drop.

Last year Kyodai dropped Breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on Local Talk.
Now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. The Scene is a classic piano house cut that's impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we've ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. When the breakdown drops we're pretty sure everybody in the club will chant.
But as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. Moving is the continuation of 'Breaking' and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. Once again Kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that's right up their with 'Breaking'. This is also why we called it...Breaking pt.2. Kyodai is currently working on their debut album for Local Talk which is due later this year. They're also travelling around the world with their amazing live DJ set that we highly recommend.
Trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club...serious biz!

Slow Hands & Tanner Ross are set to reveal the sonic alchemy that's been bubbling away since the pair first got their production juices flowing poolside, piña colada style last summer. A definitive slice of heady, bittersweet house 'All The Same' is the first gem to drop from their forthcoming collaborative album and includes a mighty remix from The Bamboozla aka Eli Soul Clap and Baby Prince.
Meeting at the DEMF in 2010, it was love at first sight for Tanner Ross and Ryan Cavannah aka Slow Hands. Ending up together at a party and sharing the booth, they've been pretty tight ever since. When the whole W+L crew decided to make Majorca their base for the summer season 2011, the pair ended up spending a fruitful few weeks writing real songs for the dancefloor, and racing on giant inflatables. A duo of undeniable talent, it's about time Slow Hands and Tanner invade your ears and make your souls sing.
First taste 'All The Same' is a sultry bittersweet refrain set against rolling drumbeats, and skittish snares encased in undulating waves of melody and hazy synth keys. The Bamboozla and Baby Prince take this glorious track and rework it for a more driving dancefloor, increasing the stomp and tempo, while the 'Jah Bless Reggae Mix' (a version for the album), plucks a soft reggae riff and slow things down to a languid, dubby drawl.

Disco Bloodbath Recordings' first release of 2013 sees the return of label boss Damon Martin with the vinyl only 'Wintermute EP'.
Lead track, 'Feel It', is a club pumper with shades of early Chicago and Detroit. Raw drums, energetic synths and an insistent vocal sample all contribute to the feeling that this wouldn't sound out of place on The Scene or The New Dance Show.
On the flip the EP's title track has a more introspective feel. Percussive TR-909 drums contrast with swirling harmonies conjuring up images of desolate landscapes.
The release is rounded off by a remix from Sean Johnston, aka Hardway Bros, who turns in an acidic drug-chugger very much in keeping with the sound he has been pushing alongside Andrew Weatherall at their A Love From Outer Space club-night.

Fina Records return with a stellar six track EP entitled ' These Things' this .... by Leeds-based producer Tom Taylor, backed with mixes from Jack Dixon and Clive Herny & Rui Da Silva.
Fina Records launched back in 2011 and at such an early stage has already released cuts from the likes of Leif, Mic Newman, Simon Baker and MAM (Miguel Campbell & Matt Hughes). This stands as testament to the attentive A&R approach of the label heads, picking up on rising talents in the industry and having a heavy impact from the off. This release from local talent Tom Taylor marks a milestone for the label as they reach their tenth release, Taylor is most-notably known for his work with labels such as 2020 Vision, Poker Flat and Dessous and delivers infectious house grooves full of warmth and oozing class.

The release opens with 'Twilight', a smooth, ethereal number employing gentile filtered melodies, a whispering vocal hook and off-kilter broken beats all of which are seemingly ever-evolving for seven minute duration. Following is 'Don't Give Up', a chuggy, slo-mo track, driven by punchy disco drums, soulful vocal licks and a cosseting pad-line. Taylor demonstrates his ability to craft intelligent, hypnotizing music across the board here brilliantly.

Next up is 'This World', a piano-driven, groove-led track focusing on steady progression and subtle background automation to create a flourishing dynamism, Taylor throws in some emotive vocal lines and hi- strings to boot, resulting in a beautiful house cut.

Stepping up on remix duties is man of the hour Jack Dixon reworking 'Twilight', the Hotflush artist strips back the vibe of the original with sparse, weighty drums and infuses drawn out reverb tails and elongated echoes into the depths of the background alongside a heady synth line tipping this interpretation into peak-time territory.

Closing the release are the digital exclusives, firstly Clive Henry teams up with Rui Da Silva to reshape 'This World', the duo instil a raw energy to the original, adding sharp keys and dark atmospherics that slowly blossom towards a huge reverb soaked breakdown. This is perfect early hours deepness.

12records is here to introduce the 2nd album by Deep88, aka Alessandro Pasini.
This album is a collection of Removing Dust EP vol 1 +2 (available separately).
After some 12 inches released on vinyl only it felt right to collect some of the best songs released together with the brand new material and create an organic album, Supporting the album with a live setup (No laptop is involved).
Self made artist, up since 2004 with different projects, Deep88 decided to start his own label in 2011 in order to release his music with no care or attitude to trend or fashion sound, developing his own style, spacing house music from classic deep to extreme raw sample based, collecting historic music gears and hardware during the years and mixing them together with other new digital toys.
The result is an album where you can find some cheesy balearic songs together with some inner raw tracks, due to his eclectic attitude. It's all about the way he decides to create music, it can be either using just an old sampler and a turntable or using some analogue and digital synths and a computer or just mix these 2 points of view together.

Jimpster's These Times proved to be a successful release, garnering love and support from right across the board. B side track Can't Stop Loving sits proudly at
No.12 in RA's top 50 tracks for October whilst These Times got airings on Amé's Boiler Room set alongside support from the likes of Mano Le Tough, Bicep and
Roman Flu¨gel. Dixon is also a fan declaring that he wished he'd signed it for Innervisions and offering to do a re-edit.
Here we're very proud to present the fruits of his labour, as well as a stunning remix from Manuel Tur. Dixon keeps the original vibe intact but reduces the groove perfectly and extends the arrangement for a deep, epic vocal version aimed
squarely at the dancefloor. Manuel goes into the abyss with a darker, hypnotic feeling, pushing Jinadu's vocals to the fore and working up a stripped back groove punctuated with ring modulated chime FX.

Its his first album in 3 years and to a certain extent marks a change in direction from the predecessors, 'Working Nights' & 'In The Red'.
'Treat Me Right' follows an esteemed remix series of Trus'me classic tracks with treatments from Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Terrence Dixon, DVS1, Ryan Elliott & Vakula.
Here's what the man himself has to say as way of an introduction to the new album.
"Since 'In The Red' I found myself traveling as far as Japan and South America and experiencing new scenes and people that have influenced my sound both in the studio and behind the decks. Reaching 30 changes your perspective on life, so when visiting these strange but intriguing countries I have taken the time to stay for a while and take it all in. Airport-Hotel-Club and sometimes straight to the Airport can take its toll on you.
Travelling so much has forced me to change my way of making music, I would say now I have a more 'anoligital' approach to my production techniques. The final production stage will always remain an analogue process but the creative process has become more digital. You can't take all those lovely synths and machines on the road with you. The Laptop is always there where inspiration hits you whether it be on the plane or hours after you're finished in a club.
With 'Working Nights' I wanted to create a cohesive hour of music from start to finish, whereas 'In The Red' was a way to push myself and learn new engineering and production techniques, working with live musicians such as Amp Fiddler and Dam Funk. 'Treat Me Right' saw me move into the realm of synths, drum machines to create the sounds of the scene I had been submerged in over the last 4-5 years. Working on new music while on the road is hard, and fragmented sessions all came together once I was stationary in Manchester. The weather surely helps this, it's much easier to be influenced and complete an idea when the sun is not shining outside. I stayed away from the impulse of my love of sampling and musicianship and trapped myself in a room, so that the final outcome would be a true representation on the sound they call analogue."

2020 Vision drop 'Surreal' this coming February by Mancunian producer Freak Seven, backed with remixes from Sebo K.
Naveed Akhtar aka Freak Seven has been involved with electronic music for over a decade, first stepping on to the scene with releases under his own name for Regal sub-label New Religion. Akhtar has since gone on to release highly praised singles for the likes of Rush Hour, Ilian Tape and released the anthemic 'We Bring The Music' on 2020Vision back in January 2012 where he returns to here.
The release opens with the original version of 'Surreal', a heady Detroit influenced cut that embraces raw, shuffling rhythms, a penetrating acidic bass-line and Akhtar¹s signature low-pitched, spoken word vocal lines from Aniff Akinola. Seven's production abilities shine through when he introduces an amalgamation of melodic elements to brilliantly play off and contrast against one another in harmony. The result is a retro in spirit yet undoubtedly forward thinking house track. An instrumental version is offered up next and as the name suggests it gets down to the nitty-gritty with a straight raw drum and synth vibe.
Mobilee's main man Sebo K turns in a mix of 'Surreal' next, reshaping the cut with his signature swinging house sound. Weighty 909 drums lead the way alongside a hooky bass, sporadic Hammond organ chords and snippets of the original vocal lines. All infused with Sebo's deep soulfulness and simple yet effective automation touches such as a subtle, intermittent delay on the tracks stabbing bass lick. A 'Dub' version of the mix is provided too, Sebo strips back the original feel and introduces a bright synth stab that's smoothly dubbed and drawn out throughout its near seven minutes with some extra ethereal pad lines to boot, creating a tasteful after-hours interpretation.
