Besides launching his fresh Bodybuilder Quartet series (QSB), inaugurated by Scott Franka, Nachtbraker unveils yet another Quartet: four records in the The Trophy Quartet series (QST). Both these two Quartets will be released over the course of the next two years. The Trophy series will cover the warmer side of the house music spectrum. And who better than Parisian boy-wonder Tell (Banoffee Pies, Skylax, Rutilance) to kick off proceedings with the brilliant 'Faster Than Light' EP. Last year he released 'Hope Springs Eternal' on QS003 which was an overnight succes after getting rinsed by heavyweights like Jeremy Underground and Detroit Swindle, so a proper solo EP was inevitable. On the A1 Tell serves up some intergalactic French filter house dubbed 'Faster Than Light', which brings back the Daft Punk and Armand van Helden vibes of our Walkman-days. We all just love filters, admit it. Its true. Next up is 'Ya'll Feel That Honey (Paradise Mix)', a tune with undeniable swing and moody chords that ultimately collide beautifully with a delectable big room piano riff that will stay in your head for days. B1 opens with a leisurely-paced jam called 'What Can U Do For Me'. It's the 'pretty one' of the EP, the one girls fall in love with and boys hate to love because they know he's hot stuff. A high pitched vocal, asking what you can do for her, flies over rubbery Rhodes chords with neat percussion keeping you on the groove. The EP closes with B2 'Vamos A La Playa'. Keywords: coconuts, sand, bikini, six-pack and tan. Vamos! Large and in charge.

Hot on the heels of the smash release from Superlover, MOTHER RECORDINGS welcome back SIMION to the label with his THE RHYTHM EP. SIMION presents two cuts of upfront house music that are prime for the dancefloor.
First up is title-track, 'The Rhythm', a nod to the 90s Chicago sound with jacking drums and a sensual female vocal. Backed up by a funk-fuelled bassline and a lush piano breakdown that lead into a deep house groove.
The B-side 'Feeling Good' is true to its title. Tight percussion, chopped vocals and a catchy synth line all come together in a fluttering climax. This one is sure to leave any dancefloor shaking.

MOTHER RECORDINGS keeps up the heat with a new EP from DILBY. Known for his shows on Ibiza Global Radio and his beats on Toolroom Records and Bondage Music amongst others, he is one of the finest New Zealanders in the game.
WORK YOUR BODY goes first and is a squelchy Tech House tune with gritty bass, tough drums and a no frills groove that really will work the floor. It is also finished with a naughty, rude boy vocal that adds more fuel to the fire.

Toy Tonics going Afro House. The MUSHROOM HOUSE compilation series part brings 4 unreleased tracks. Including two of the most relevant names of the growing scene: AUNTIE FLO from UK and mysterious producer HYENAH. Hyenah is a favourite of the scene's main man Black Coffee and DJ's like Dixon and the Innervisions circle are heavy fans. Also on this EP a new track by Toy Tonics very own ZHUT & KAPOTE. Has underground house really run out of ideas

The aesthetic is no doubt getting worn out: you can barely move for tounge-in-cheek DJ aliases, palm-tree emojis and VHS screen grabs of 90s A-listers.

Against that backdrop, Helter cuts through like a rough-edged asteroid.

"Polaris EP", The London producer's debut vinyl release after a few leaked tracks created a buss on SoundCloud, hits the reset button on the hackneyed discourse that surrounds decayed house music.

The four tracks on offer cascade between blasts of tectonic rhythm, colour and melody, and washed-out ambience, intertwining and soaking into each other.

The deck is still broken, but it punches in all the right places. A sun-warped, boards of Canada sequel pumped full of adrenaline and grit.

The soundtrack to a broken ecstasy, sure to leave half the kids in a trance and the other with shit dripping down their legs.

Helter is pushing the genre of misshapen house music into a new dimension - one with more energy, and through a truly shattered lens.

Music is Love boss returns to his home label after a few brief excursions on Hot Creations & Viva Music last year, and he returns in style. 3 summer time slammers and a stella remix from the Mak & Pasteman boys. Middle Ground is a dusty filtered house track, aligned with a soaring string section, which narrate the warm uplifting journey this track lays down. Mandingo was made as a tool for Oli s sets last summer and after some huge reactions and some serious demand, Mandingo was set for a vinyl release. Big stabs and plenty of funk this track is party ready. On the flip we find Mak & Pasteman return to Music is Love after an appearance on the 3rd LOVEBOX VA in 2016. Piano4 is flipped into what these boys do best, Simple stripped back grooves delivered with stupendous power. On B2 is the original take on Piano4 which sees Oli flexing his power house muscles on this big piano track. Piano4 is an unrelenting beast that twists and turns its way through various passages of maximum intent.

Italian Cosmic Rhythm continues to deliver future classics of house music.

House hit makers MOTHER RECORDINGS are back with another tight two track package. This one comes from the label boss NHAN SOLO, a real house talent with plenty of great singles and EPs in his back catalogue, most often on his own great label.

Opening the release is SHOW ME LOVE, a deep and groovy number with nice piano chords rolling over slick house groove. Power female vocal add fuel and emotion to the fire and the whole thing really casts a spell on you.

BROTHERS KEEPERS is on the flip and is another kicking house tune with sleek metallic drums, great percussive tension with smart kills and filters, and clipped vocals that inject real warmth and soul. Both cuts carry on in this Berlin based producer's fine tradition and are sure to get plenty of dance floors on their toes in the coming months.

The next reissue classic on Henry Street Music comes from Scott Kinchen AKA Scotti Deep. Originally released in 1997.

February 23rd saw the release of Sidney Charles's retrospective full length 'House Lessons' album on AVOTRE. Here we get treated to a second single from the album, complete with a fresh new remix from the original house gangster, DJ Sneak.
German talent Sidney Charles has become an influential producer since emerging in 2011: his full fat, chunky house offerings have become staples in DJ sets and he has served up many modern dance floor classics along the way. Always touring the world and laying down engaging sets full of many house flavours, here we get another fine serving of his unique sound in the form of new single 'Psyjack.'

The track is a full blooded bit of jacking house with tough drums, icy hi-hat loops and rib rattling bass that thumps out a sweaty groove. Oversized and emphatic throughout, some tripped out melodic breakdowns offer intricate musical moments before the physical drums bang once more. It's first rate club music, make no mistake.

It's a perfect track to be re-worked by I'm A House Gangster label boss and all round Chicago house pioneer DJ Sneak. His version is pricklier, and hypnotically loopy. With vocal stabs and barreling kick drums, loose, DIY sounding percussion and shooting synth lines it's a raw and genetic bit of house music that cannot fail to make dance floors sweat.


Once again we are reminded that Sidney Charles is at the top of the modern house pile and that AVOTRE know exactly who to enlist to remix their releases to the greatest effect.

Vinny Villbass is one of the long time driving forces behind the Norwegian club scene. In addition to an extensive list of club nights and house parties on his conscience, he is one third of the crew behind the renown Oslo club night Sunkissed and initiator of the Norwegian web-portal OsloClubCast, building ties between the clubs, DJ's, and producers of Oslo.

As DJ, Vinny Villbass is known for his exceptional groove and timing as a result of 15 years behind the decks, mostly in Scandinavia, but also as a resident of German club capitol Berlin, and in New York City.

His musical experience also reaches far beyond his 15 years as house DJ and vinyl junkie. As guitar and synth player in diskJokkeBand and a master of acoustics, Vinny Villbass´ production skills fronts his very own trademark sound of house music.

In addition to releases on labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Trunkfunk and Afro Art, Villbass also has a long history of remixing. The latest years, he has been remixing Norwegian bands as diversions from his daily studio focus. "Diversions" collects a wide range of Vinny Villbass' trademark analogue reworks, all produced at his peculiar studio collective at Grünerløkka in Oslo. Focus on each bands distinctive energy has resulted in a diverse compilation of contemporary Norwegian quality, from Norwegian Grammy award winning bands Beglomeg and King Midas, to Deathcrush, Pow Pow, Radio 9 and Lionheart Brothers, plus electropop artist Sandra Kolstad and jazz futurists Jaga Jazzist.
