Sartorial kicks off proceedings with 'Fat Freddy's Party', centred around an ear worm bassline which rolls throughout, dipping amongst soaring strings, ritualistic vocal chants and a titillating Spanish guitar.

Hot shot Moodena takes charge of the second track, bringing a softer sound palette, with '80s energy, blessed keys and Moodena's signature feisty horns. Imagine Yellow Magic Orchestra jamming with Kerri Chandler and you have something a little like 'No More Sushi'.

Returning to the label for the second time, Phazed Groove offer up two expertly executed slugs of disco fire for the flip. 'Sweet Talker' is routed around a divinely whimsical vocal, accompanied by a ballsy bass and cascading flutes elevating the piece to higher states of ecstasy as it glides onwards. Like any good disco track, this will have you weeping while ferociously dancing.

The J side is the cool side. Moar slips on the Balearic boots for a steppers cut that instantly transports us to the beaches and seaside sunsets. Some clever vocal samples are sprinkled throughout. Feelin' it!

On the flip JJ, Moar shifts gears and treats the listener to a Paisley-punched French house tribute that bangs! With a straight-up funk-fueled chorus we'll all be bellowing out this summer and coupled with a tight horn section this Punk-funk feast is a real treat for the listener.

Frappé is releasing its 1st studio EP on November 30th and it's a standout record: the parisian label has asked the great Art Of Tones to collaborate with the jazz / funk band Chatobaron, whose leader is Frank Chatona (from Cotonete).

This is a highly special project for the label, coming from the heart of its founders Basile de Suresnes and Ten Fingerz, who have had the will to create this unique collaboration between the amazing House music producer Art Of Tones and top-quality studio musicians. Under the direction of the House Music artist, the band led by Frank Chatona (Saxophone, drums, guitar, bass guitar and keyboards) have worked together on the tracks, which have been recorded during a very intense studio session in Paris. The result is a crystal-clear and warm sounding EP, which is a hybrid between the club sound and the jazz funk studio sound. Legendary producer Dave Lee returns as AC Soul Symphony with the “Metamorphosis” LP - his most ambitious production project in his 35-year career.

With an inimitable CV and discography that includes over a thousand production credits to his name, hundreds of singles under renowned pseudonyms including Joey Negro, and three UK top 40 hits as Jakatta, Dave Lee is one of the UK’s most revered producers of disco and house music, defining each genre with a signature sound. Always looking to push the boundaries of what it means to make music, his latest project sees Dave return to one of his lesser-known pseudonyms – AC Soul Symphony – to deliver an epic disco record that takes the sound back to its roots in every way possible.

“A few years ago, I produced a remake of David Shire’s orchestral disco masterpiece Manhattan Skyline under the alias of AC Soul Symphony. I really enjoyed reworking that classic track in a way that retained my favourite parts of the original but also writing new musical sections that gave it more my own flavour.”

Comprising 15 beautifully arranged disco tracks that effortlessly span almost two hours, “Metamorphosis” is an album by definition, but at its core, much more than that – it is a labour of love, meticulously composed, arranged and crafted through a very tangible and human creative process which is unmatched by many modern producers.

“I do it because I love the process of creating something. My aim is to come up with an end result I genuinely think I’d want to buy, play and listen to if it wasn’t me.”

Inspired by happy memories from the golden era of TV and the soundtracks of his favourite childhood shows, “Metamorphosis” was borne of a desire to put the strings center stage and recreate the same analogue sounds that brought instrumental albums by Love Unlimited, MFSB and Salsoul Orchestra to life.

“I thought making a whole album of this mainly instrumental, string heavy, tv theme like music would be a really enjoyable project and one that would play to my strengths as a producer. It was also slightly new territory musically and a bit of challenge.”

Taking disco back to a physical place, “Metamorphosis” was an organic writing process that saw Dave lay down his ideas digitally, before reshaping the MIDI strings into a proper arrangement and recording them live with a 20-piece orchestra at RAK Studios. By his own admission, it is an album of pure indulgence, but by relying on digital production methods, it can be easy to lose sight of the soul that makes music such a unifying entity. Backing up the immaculate strings with catchy vocals and enough groove to level a discotheque, it’s this soulful energy that Dave has captured and expertly delivered with “Metamorphosis”.

Musically the title track 'Stranger Days' is a fender rhodes (live played) driven jazz-funk-disco cut that is both mystic and funky at the same...a perfect basement disco jam!

Flip things over and the B1 track 'Galaxy21' is a spaced-out rare groove jam that comes across as a blend of psychedelic 70s funk and 80s punk-disco...a truly freaky jam with some amazing strings towards the end.
To round things up Al did a real number on an Eddie Palmieri track that Walter Gibbons used to play at his parties. It begins in Latin/Salsa...but travels far beyond ;).

Number 88 is a limited (150 copies) one sided 12“ with two different tracks, showing again Andy’s versatility. US-inspired house grooves or Italo disco smashers, he can do it all! Grammy award winner Louie Vega is known worldwide as one of the finest creators and purveyors of house music, both as an individual artist / producer / dj and as partner with Kenny Dope in the renowned production team known as Masters At Work. His multiple musical talents have also brought him much acclaim in the genres of salsa, afro-beat, jazz, hip-hop and soul. Last year he reached another career milestone when his album Louie Vega Starring...XXVIII' was nominated at the 2017 Grammys for Best Dance Album, which further solidified his position as one of the industry's premier artist / producers. But not everyone knows about Louie's deep respect, admiration and knowledge of the disco genre that laid the foundation for so much music that moves crowd on dancefloors and festivals today.

Louie's connection with Nervous Records and it's father / son founders Sam and Michael Weiss goes back to the label's very early years, as Masters At Work gave the label some of its earliest hits along with its signature release The Nervous Track' by Nuyorican Soul. Louie was always aware of the many disco hits that had been released by Sam on his Sam Records label back in the 70's and 80's. But it was not until recently that Louie suggested Michael send him the 24 inch multi -track masters of seminal Sam Records disco classics like Gary's Gang Keep On Dancing,' John Davis & The Monster Orchestra I Can't Stop,' Convertion Let's Do It,' Vicky D This Beat Is Mine,' as well as several others.

The multi-tracks are a treasure-trove, including musical contributions from some of disco era's finest musicians and engineers. Going through the various percussion, horn and string tracks inspired Louie to create a series of remixes that became dancefloor anthems that topped the Traxsource and Beatport charts and reverberated on dancefloors worldwide. That response, and the common drive that Louie and Michael both share to constantly promote quality music that is both song and rhythm based, inspired them to take this endeavor a step further, and to create brand new songs. When Louie's creative energies start flowing, his team knows to rise to the occasion.

It is a huge honour to present the Disco Gospel 12”, curated and edited by Chicago's Marc Davis and Sadar Bahar. Featuring two under-the-radar disco / gospel fusion tracks that have been given a new lease of life courtesy of these masters of their craft.

We first came to know Marc through his always on-point Black Pegasus record label, which he’s been running since 2006. As a renowned international DJ, record collector, and an integral part of Chicago's underground music scene, we knew anything he sent our way was going to be serious and he didn’t disappoint. Joining forces with Sadar Bahar (Soul in the Hole), who is himself a gospel and disco legend and a DJ's DJ favourite across the globe, they dug deep and put us onto two absolute gems from their beloved collections. As DJs who play a wide range of genres, their ability to spot the real heat within any sound has placed them at the top of their game. As Sadar puts it, "We are always digging for records and these fit the criteria of disco and happen to be gospel”.

First up is the feel-good joint 'I'm So Happy' by Fountain of Life Joy Choir Under The Direction of Kevin Yancy. Originally released in 1978 on a subsidiary label of T.K. Productions entitled Gospel Roots, the clue is in the title with this one. It's an unadulterated, uplifting, joyous dancer. Marc and Sadar’s fizzing edit brings out the best elements of the song and extends them. Working the addictive vocal hooks and building the funky instrumental grooves produces a spirit-lifting mood that is bursting with enough energy to light a fire under any dancefloor.

'Optical Illusion' on the flip, takes the tempo down, but doesn’t let up on the vigour. It’s a driving, stomping anthem that features another lung-busting vocal performance. Working with a live recording of Rev. Charles H. Nicks and The Baptist Assembly Of Free Spirit Churches Mass Choir, this one proves to be the perfect accompaniment to the ecstatic vibe of the A-side. The duo has condensed and heightened the drama of the song and added some light-touch production elements to clean up and enhance the sound. We guarantee this will be filtering its way into the sets of discerning DJs worldwide.

Marc described the selections best when he succinctly put it like this, “We both knew these were two heaters on our first listen”.

We completely agree, and with recording and engineering contributions from Tone B. Nimble (Soul Is My Salvation) and Rahaan, here we have Chicago royalty creating an unmissable release that celebrates the crossover of dance music with the musical traditions of the church.

Piercing through the dance floor fog of dreams and delusions, San Diego based label, Neptune’s Dispatch, is thrilled to present the first edition of Beppe Loda’s Spaghetti Disco Freak Series. The Italian Stallion delivers four floor tested edits of rare and obscure Italian disco – reminiscent of his residency at the mythic Typhoon Club and paying homage to the cosmic sound at the roots of his legacy. Guitar lead ‘Shameless Progression’ follows skittering disco hats across a scape of lasers, a pulsing bassline and Italo synth business. ‘Encona’ is a summery re-edit of a foreign disco classic you'll no doubt recognise (shh..), Demi has added his naughty robotic FM bassline and some proper drum chunk to the mix, a tasteful re-hash right until the end.

‘Second Element’ is a progressive disco tech crossover. Leading with a fat kick drum, trance- inducing chord patterns, acid flutters and topped off with 70’s soul edged vocal slices. ‘Spice Rack’ delves deep into the world of synthesis, an acoustic drum kit keeps pace while soft ambient chord progressions float delicately over with a hooky synth lead to top it off.
