Melbourne digger and edit master Hysteric joins the Pleasure of Love fam with this 4 track EP, Pleasure of Edits 08: Kitchen Appliances. With releases on Public Possession, Lisbon’s Ostra Discos, Centre Neptune, and his own italo influenced Mothball record label, Hysteric delivers an adventurous Pleasure of Love 12 Inch that continues to reward on repeated listens. 'Chrome Plated Broiler' kicks things off and lives up to the name, a bouncy late 80s new beat dance floor heater. Another highlight is 'Automatic Can Opener,' a post-disco tinged, xylophone led groover that highlights a cheeky vocal re-sampling bit to great effect. Hysteric and Pleasure of Love make for a good pairing on this cosmic edit twelve.

After a huge year of travelling in 2022, playing DJ sets in more than 30 cities across 10 countries, Captain Planet dove back into the studio to create his 5th and most ambitious album to date- Sounds Like Home. Taking a turn toward the more organic, retro sounds of artists who originally inspired him as a young musician, Charlie Wilder (aka Captain Planet) flexed his composer and bandleader muscles- incorporating horn sections, strings and acoustic drums more than the big club focussed electronic sounds he has often come to be known for. "The basic concept was to make a record like the ones I constantly pull off my shelves at home and play on the weekends. The records that turn into living room dance parties with my family, the soundtracks while I'm cooking, the music that fills the backyard for lazy hang outs." An avid vinyl record collector and musicologist since his teens, the Captain has a near encyclopedic knowledge of music from around the world, particularly artists from the 60's and 70's, which is the era that inspired much of the sonic texture on this new album.
In classic Captain Planet style, a kaleidoscopic array of genres from around the world find their way into the mix- Brazilian disco, Latin funk, Jamaican dub, Middle Eastern psychedelia, and American soul music. While this diversity may sound more like a mixtape, the Captain's trademark uplifting vibe and impeccable knack for building a great groove, provide the special ingredients that pull it all together and makes the sauce work. The Fader wrote "the Captain is a walking 'recommended vinyl' section from the best record store you've ever been to", because all his deep love and appreciation for classic music comes right through him in his original songs. Throughout this album you'll hear echoes of timeless artists like Cymande, Gilberto Gil, Ray Barretto, Curtis Mayfield, Mulatu Astatke, and Gabor Szabo, all funneled through the Captain's modern musical sensibility, shaped by nearly 2 decades of being a professional world-traveling DJ.
The past year also brought some major challenges for Charlie Wilder, most central of which was losing a close friend and collaborator, the fellow LA-based DJ/producer Sumohair (1⁄2 of the band Reyna Tropical). The album starts off with a brief tropical tribute to his friend, followed by the strong message "Music Is Medicine" sung by another regular collaborator, the Zimbabwean-American (Grammy winning) singer Shungudzo. With the true value of friendship front and center on his mind, Captain Planet made a strong conscious effort to include many of his oldest friends and musical partners throughout the album, including Grammy winning pianist Sam Barsh, Chico Mann, Zuzuka Poderosa (who bartended at one of the Captain's earliest DJ residencies in Brooklyn), David Walters (whose new album "Soul Tropical" was co-written & co-produced by the Captain), Todd Simon, Leo Mintek (who has played guitar with Wilder since their teens), and Wilder's youngest brother Taj Bethel who co-wrote 2 of the songs on the album. The warm light of friendship and family shines throughout the album, and while the influences reach far across the globe, the music clearly shows that Captain Planet has found his musical home.

Having been previously released digitally and on CD back in 2009. We decided RSD 2022 was a great opportunity to release this seminal album on Red Transparent vinyl for the first time.
‘Don’t You Remember The Future’ is the debut artist album from Jamie Jones, peering into the coming apocalypse with a body-shaking, teeth-grinding, tripped out fusion of sound on Crosstown Rebels.
There are some talents that remain inconspicuous and then there are some you can’t ignore. Jamie Jones is the latter, quickly rising to superstar status in underground dance circles over recent years. Releases on Crosstown Rebels Hot Creations, Defected, Cocoon, Get Physical and BPitch have catapulted him to become a cult figure and he is widely admired for his true originality. From his debut single ‘Amazon’, to his albums' anthem ‘Summertime’, his unique sound has won him worldwide audiences and this album has been widely anticipated as one to change the face of current house music.
With ‘Don’t You Remember The Future’ Jamie Jones delivers an album of “intergalactic techno house, where old school prince meets cybertron.” A seamlessly blended up-tempo mix filled with eerie and energetic moments. Featuring ten brand new tracks from Jamie Jones, alongside this years dance floor anthem ‘Summertime’ and the current ‘Galactic Space Bar’ - which features the vocals of Egyptian Lover - the album’s twelve tracks are stitched together in an entangled web of beats and bleeps, available digitally as separate edits.
Cosmic cuts such as ‘Mars’ and ‘Deep In The Ghetto’ create a new dimension through soaring synths and idiosyncratic samples while the sonic dance floor weapons ‘Half Human’ and ‘This Is How’ release the lethal disco master within Jamie Jones. The jacking, peak time moments of ‘Summertime’ and ‘Sand Dunes’ produce a current take on the early acid house sound and each step of this peculiar story solidifies the strange notion of being within an undiscovered time and place. ‘Don’t You Remember The Future’ features the guest vocals of a variety of musical souls, checking off some of Jones’ remote influences and revealing the greater versatility of this skillful artist. Norwegian oddball duo Ost & Kjex feature on the anthem, ‘Summertime’.
The seductively charged ‘Absolute Zero’ unmasks the talent of London based DJ, producer and vocalist Alison Mars (AKA Alison Marks), resulting in a beautifully epic and mysterious after hours track, and the toxic ‘Galactic Space Bar’ features live vocals from one of the creators of the electro scene, The Egyptian Lover, an old hero to Jamie Jones through early rap cuts like ‘Egypt, Egypt’ and ‘I Need a Freak .’ ‘Don’t You Remember The Future’ vinyl release is the album that brought the future into the present."

CHIARA CIVELLO'S NEW SINGLE ADDS NEAPOLITAN VIBES TO BRAZILIAN FUNK TO CELEBRATE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
Four Flies is proud to present a new, exciting single by internationally acclaimed Italian singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Chiara Civello. Co-produced with Neapolitan pianist, beatmaker and producer Dario Bassolino and with lyrics by Civello and Sicilian artist Kaballà, "Sono Come Sono" is the first Italian adaptation of the Brazilian song "Olhos Coloridos", a celebration of diversity, mixed roots and inclusion written by Macau and made famous by singer Sandra de Sa. To respect the spirit of the original and its soul-funk sound, Civello decided to produce the song in Naples, a city with many similarities to Rio de Janeiro, including its multicultural history. The result is an irresistible eighties-inspired boogie-funk track brimming with positivity and joy.
"Sono Come Sono" comes out on 21 October 2022 as a 12" VINYL MAXI SINGLE containing the song plus three fantastic remixes by eclectic Neapolitan DJ/producer Whodamanny that add groovy and tribal influences to the mix and further enhance its dancefloor potential.
Civello's adaptation has been praised by the writer and singer of the original, as well as by another great name in Brasilian popular music:
"Cada Qual com seu Cada Qual, e muito Respeito pra Liberar Geral…" Chiara has expressed this idea truthfully, beautifully and with dignity. I'm very excited, proud and happy! This is a fantastic version of "Olhos Coloridos". "Limitar…, é humilhar o Infinito…" Thank you, sister" – Sandra de Sá
"Chiara, I couldn't contain my emotion when I listened to your Italian version of "Olhos Coloridos". Beautiful vocals… a beautiful brass arrangement… pure black-Rio! You put colors into my eyes and light into my soul with your magical performance, I have no words. I must really thank you for the joy you gave me. "somos o que somos", Olhos Coloridos, Sarará Crioulo"" – Macau
"Another smooth and super groovy creation by Chiara Civello, this is a perfect Italian version of the classic Rio de Janeiro soul-funk song, "Olhos Coloridos", made famous by Sandra de Sá. It respects the spirit of Black pride contained in the original lyrics but adds to it new sounds and meanings. Well done, Chiara!" – Nelson Motta

20/20 Vision and Crazy P continue their long and fruitful relationship with a fourth volume of carefully curated and super-fresh new cuts as part of this fine ongoing series.
Scandi-disco don Ray Man opens up with typically lush cosmic melodies and loose-limed nu-disco beats with more than a hint of funk.
Tigerbalm then heads into a tropical oasis with 'Cosmic Union' (feat Joy Tyson) which has Afro rhythms and steamy vocals bringing the heat. Ruf Dug shows his multi-genre chops again with 'Vape Quarter Rhythm' which is part proto-house cut and part dreamy Italo bliss out with rave whistles and hands-in-the-air chords.
Ibiza's Tuccillo closes out with one of his signature Balearic gems in 'Siroco', which is as breezy and carefree as cocktails by the sea at sundown.

In a very special edition of our Basement Tracks series, house legends Alan Fitzpatrick and DJ Deeon team up on a Chicago-inspired house track, later flipped by Shall Not Fade family member, DJOKO.
A figure who needs little introduction, Alan Fitzpatrick has long been electrifying dance floors with his big-room selections and production. This EP sees the tech-house icon collaborate with the equally illustrious DJ Deeon on a track which gleams from the Chicago producer's musical heritage in juke and Ghetto house. "Shake That Thang" cruises along a deep house beat whilst Deeon's unmistakable vocal chops float over the top, offering a blissed-out take on the genre before Cologne's house music stalwart DJOKO who brings the funk on a buoyant flip. Rounding things off, "Learning to Love" sees Fitzpatrick fly solo with a sunshine-doused melody and euphoric drops. This one's sure to be heard on festival stages all across the globe this summer.

We're told that the Hot Pot label has been specially resurrected to put out these jams from the one and only former Slum Village DJ, Mahogany Music artist, hip-hop head and house don that is Dez Andres. They are some of the edits and reworks he has been playing out on the circuit in his Detroit hometown and they get pressed up nice and loud here on fresh wax. First up he reworks a stone-cold classic with a distinctive Latin house twang while on the flip, his signature boom-bap drum work defines another killer groove. Super stuff as ever from the man.

The Clock and Disco Alarm are put together in a MAXI named Deadline, a tribute to all the ones he’s never met. Expect cold sweats, good stress and frenzy on the dancefloor!

It's a 19-track exploration of the magical and escapist sounds of artists like Digitalism, Cinthie, Bondax, Reflex, Roosevelt and more. The Mirrorball Motel is a place that transports you to another place, a party you don't want to end and when it does, you'll feel it was all a dream. It’s where the magic happens, an evening without inhibitions, where you dance without thinking. Musically it's a mix of all forms of disco and house as represented here.

Italoconnection - 'All Over' (Future Disco Edit) brings an eighties vibe that reminds of Ibiza venue Pikes, whilst the mysterious Clive From Accounts 'You Understand' impresses with its soaring strings and house bassline. The final two exclusives are Charlie Hepworth's 'It's Satisfaction' with its full thrill house drums and acid flashes, and Boys Shorts's 'Suburban Love Affair' (Brian Ring Remix), which sounds like summer on the shores of Los Angeles in 1989.
Elsewhere is the simple but effective future disco of Bondax, a Brazilian via French disco cut from PPJ, and exciting and intricate grooves from the trio of Breakbot, Irfane & Yuksek. There is euphoric 90s house from Saison, challenging yet reassuring vocal work from the legendary Roisin Murphy as remixed to perfection by the wizard that is The Reflex and much more besides.

The one and only Mother Recordings welcome the always firing NiCe7 for a pair of red hot dance floor bombs. The Italian duo have released on the likes of DFTD, Crosstown Rebels, Snatch! and Mother previously, and they return to Mother with another couple of dance floor bombs.
„Disco Change“ kicks off with a razor sharp groover, rock solid kicks and plenty of tense synths. Once a big vocal arrives to bring diva qualities and lung busting hooks the whole tune goes to another level and will really blow the roof off.
„Look At Me“ then has a perfectly slinky groove with a real sense of skip to it. The hi hats are icy cold, the kick drums flap underneath, and then some old school chords come in to really get those hands in the air next to another fine vocal.
These are classy and highly effective tunes from NiCe7.

In 2020 we haven´t been dancing, we haven´t been clubbing neither have we been to festivals - it drove us all crazy. The pandemic has burned out dancefloors without a break but we at NBAST, we’re still moving. After all, we are all still here - intact - because we are so passionate about this music, just like you and so we wanna share new bits of our eleventh record with you soul sisters and brothers. For HDSN it was a turbulent year - career on hold, empty tour schedule, delayed releases and the break up of his long-term relationship kept our man testing to the bones. It´s nothing new that heartache has been one of the strongest inspirations for making music and so it turns out that all the drama around 2020 didn´t stop the young talent from making moves. Au contraire it has been a very driving force for the up and coming artist to craft new soul food for the people. “Break Ups To Make Ups” is a major statement! It´s moving and inspiring, as well as energetic and forceful; a record whose vibrations stun the spirit and lift the listener capturing the true essence what soulful dance floor music is about. HDSN continues to embrace disco and house pairing it with vintage sounds retaining his beautiful, raw and dancefloor friendly production signature. NBASTWAX011 has the power to make you move and, above all, the magic to make you feel much longer. #datsoulthang

Purple Disco Machine unveils sophomore album ‘Exotica’ in all of its disco glory.
With the release of his debut LP ‘Soulmatic’ released in 2017 via Sweat It Out, Purple Disco Machine gave us the first glimpse of what we could come to expect from the now world renowned producer. Responsible for a multitude of hit singles from the club world including ‘My House’, with the debut LP also birthing the massive successes of ‘Devil In Me’, and ‘Body Funk’.
Now the formidable producer offers a more intimate side to his artistry, inviting us into the world of his sophomore album ‘Exotica’. The LP pays homage to the 80s and the plethora of artists that inspired him to create and set him on the path of becoming the internationally acclaimed producer he is today. The 14 tracker boasts all the elements of his heartfelt favourites throughout the decade - the synth pop from the UK, Italo disco styles of Moroder, Milan & Munich, the funk of Prince, the R&B electro soul of Luther Vandross & Jam & Lewis, to influences from George Michael, and Quincy Jones. So ingrained in his musical identity, Purple Disco Machine’s artist name is a deliberate collage of the colour of his 80’s funk hero Prince and the uplifting fun dance beat of Gloria Estefan’s Miami Sound Machine.
The album encompasses all the grooves, signature guitar licks, and funky basslines that are synonymous with a Purple Disco Machine record, whilst having moments of light and shade inviting you further into his universe. Having already released a handful of singles from the LP, including the Sophie and the Giants collab ‘Hypnotized’, ‘Fireworks feat. Moss Kena & The Knocks’, ‘Playbox’ and more recently ‘Dopamine feat. Eyelar’, Purple Disco Machine has quickly gained a mammoth international following eager to hear more. ‘Hypnotized’ became an anthem the world over, having been streamed over 275 million times across platforms, whilst going triple Platinum in Italy, Poland and Switzerland, with the carefree stylings of ‘Fireworks’ quickly following suit with over 80 million streams to date, whilst dominating airwaves across Europe hitting #5 on the overall chart, and #1 across Italy and Germany. Further skyrocketing up the Shazam Charts, the single went to #1 in Germany, and #3 across Italy, Denmark, and Austria to become another certified hit for Purple Disco Machine.
The album opens with ‘Can’t Get Enough’ featuring Australian songstress Sahara Beck, and for all his fans across Europe, is the perfect follow on from ‘Hypnotized’- hitting all the same feels as the breakout single. Teaming up with long term collaborator Lorenz Rhodes once again for the release of ‘At The Disko’, the duo have created an instant and lively dance floor heater, incorporating the vocoder as they did previously on ‘Music In You’, and breaking into some seriously heaving piano chords and claps to keep that energy all the way through. ‘Don’t Stop’ is a return to his more traditional club leaning records, likewise, title single ‘Exotica feat. Mind Enterprises’, and the ‘Body Funk Part 2’ vibes of ‘Playbox’ which has been represented in video as a truly incredible cosmic journey. Also sitting on that club tip is ‘Loneliness’, his track with cult underground Italian producer Francesca Lombardo, which oozes a patient charisma throughout.
Taking time to slow things down on ‘I Remember’, Tino has collaborated with Elderbrook, who has become one of the most iconic singers in the electronic space in recent years - his transcendent vocals shining through, with soaring synths, and harmonic vocal effects, creating a heavenly slice of melancholy disco. Following through with another mellow jam is the album closer ‘Wanna Feel Like A Lover feat Ed Mac’, which is a true amalgamation of 80s flair even boasting the decade’s trademark sax solo! Moving further outside his contemporary disco template, Tino has teamed up with Ukranian / English duo Bloom Twins on ‘Opposite of Crazy’ colouring their unique blend of alt dark synth pop, with quirky and boisterous squalls of Prince-esque guitar throughout. Energy, soul, and pure fierceness shines through from the very first note of the anthemic ‘Hands To The Sky’ featuring the outstanding vocal talents of Fiorious and House Gospel Choir, and last but not least is the collaboration with Brooklyn disco hipsters Pink Flamingo Rhythm Revue, the uber funky ‘Money Money’ incorporates the slickest of all vocal lines reminiscent of the sassiest best of Big Apple boogie.
Now boasting over 1 billion streams across his catalogue to date, and over 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Purple Disco Machine continues to live up to the hype of #2 Beatport Artist of All Time. With a succession of notable remixes for Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Foals, Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Sir Elton John, Royal Blood, Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, Duke Dumont, and Diplo & SIDEPIECE, coupled with his continuous stream of original hit singles over the past four years, Purple Disco Machine’s influence on the global dance music scene will be felt for generations to come.

Veteran artist Sebra Cruz releases his debut album ‘Don't Worry Psy Happy’ on DJ Tennis’ revered Life & Death imprint. The daring eleven track LP is as experimental as it is definitive and encapsulates the Italian spirit in perfect style.
The LP follows two previously teased singles; ‘Margaret’, an ode to Cruz’ girlfriend which is a deeply passionate and expressive melodic house offering and album title ‘Don’t Worry Psy Happy’ a hedonistic, tripped out soundscape.
The lead track ‘Sunfish’ is a melange of powerful synths overlaid with sporadic vocals and a swinging breakbeat which make the record the perfect soundtrack for early morning dancefloor euphoria.
The album continues its genreless motif and is hard to pin down. It broaches a variety of styles including cinematic and ambient leaning sonics such as ‘Optimist’ and ‘Poliziesco’, the latter which includes Gabriele Fabbri’s atmospheric guitar riff throughout.
‘The Siebel Road To Mars’ is a similarly powerful yet emotive record which samples current Italian President Sergio Mattarella between the piano and the extraterrestrial sound palette. Continuing with the more abstract tracks ‘Flying Junior’, which was named after Cruz’ own sailboat, emulates the peacefulness and tranquillity of the sea. It’s yet another reflection of Sebra Cruz’ artistic personality.
Juxtaposing the calm and serene records from the album, ‘AltreCose’, inspired by the energy of the Neapolitan people during Sebra’s DJing residency in the 90s, is a more high energy disco-infused record. Similarly ‘When Life Was Slow’, released on Life & Death back in 2020, is another upbeat dance interpretation and a tribute to Cruz’ passion for Italian composers from the 60s and 70s.
Speaking about the album Sebra says: “What emerges is in my opinion an album with predominantly Italian spirit, disco, house with both edgy and gentle influences. I never decide what to do first, I simply follow my spur of the moment instinct. Releasing an album for Life & Death is cool because I've always had huge respect for Manfredi.”
Sebra Cruz and DJ Tennis have a long lasting and trusting collaborative relationship exhibited by the former's numerous releases on Tennis’ Life and Death label. DJ Tennis’ encyclopaedic musical brain and shared passion for Italian composers perfectly complements Sebra’s stylings.
Striking an impeccable balance between abstract and obscure sonics and more methodical and conventional melodies, 'Don't Worry Psy Happy’ is a body of work that exquisitely expresses Sebra Cruz’ personality via different worlds and mediums.

The word 'classic' gets thrown around a lot these days, often abused and attached to things that don't deserve the tag.
I think we can all agree that an outfit like Earth, Wind & Fire are truly deserving of such an accolade, since their first tentative steps in the early 1970's as an outfit the Chicago, IL pioneers have made themselves a force to be reckoned with and have sold over 90,000,000 units worldwide! Fusing together Jazz, Funk, Soul, African and Brazilian sounds EWF have been at the top of their game for decades, seeing them inducted into the legendary 'rock n roll hall of fame' at the turn of the millennium. Respect due. On this special, legit 12" reissue we are treated to 2 stellar reworkings by one of Disco and modern dance music's most respected names - Danny Krivit. Danny's tenure in dance music has almost been as long as EWF's themselves so it makes sense that he's on deck to breathe some dancefloor magic into their cult classics 'Brazilian Rhyme' and 'Runnin'. Both tracks are massive club anthems with them being generously sampled over the years and featuring in the playlists of too numerous to mention DJ's and selectors. Both of these amazing edits are extremely sought after and have been legally reissued by Above Board Distribution in conjunction with Danny Krivit and the legal rights holders - Sony Music Entertainment. This high quality repress features original Columbia white label Disco promo artwork and has been remastered from Sony's original sources by Optimum Mastering, Bristol UK.

"Moody Disco Vol. 1" finds Los Angeles disco/funk maestro, KCRW fave & rising TikTok star (250k followers for his "Interpolation" videos) LUXXURY aka Blake Robin exploring new disco directions.
Leading the EP, "Let's Stay Together” blends house and jazz-funk rhythms with his trademark dusty basslines, dreamy ‘70s keys, and minimal vocals. Next up, “Don't Give Up (I Believe in You)” is a fresh, funk-infused fusion of 'Forget Me Nots'-style Rhodes, infectious bass, dusty lo-fi beats and a simple, uplifting mantra-like vocal delivered by Robin in his gorgeous falsetto.
On the flip, "Two Hearts" revitalizes a familiar 80s Hi-NRG topline with a new chill-yet-funky instrumental. Rounding out the EP are two popular remixes never before released on vinyl, the upbeat piano house classic “Pleasure!” and Crackazat’s floor-filling take on “Hold On.” Moody though it may be, the EP is a gimmer of hope near the end of a dark period.
