LECTRIC SANDS drops another sick 12" this time with 3 cuts from ZOOVOX.The title cut brings vintage drums with organic piano chords and a subtleguitar shred. "SPLASH WAVE" is a raw track with soft synth backdrops and anareggiated line. "GYMNESIAN DAWN" is a dub of the main mix.

Two years ago Dairmount got hooked on the fresh sounds of a young producer/DJ by the name of Martin Nowakowski. The first result of their artistic collaboration was the 'Reframe EP', a 4-tracker whose mesmerizing sounds grabbed the attention of quite some dignitaries of the international club scene such as Jimpster, Laurent Garnier, Steve Bug, Gerd and Simbad. Living the A&R to the fullest,Dairmount worked closely with Nowakowski to further develop his vision and sounds.
After sophomore EP's from Art of Tones and Marlow, Room with a View now proudly presents 'Magenta', Nowakowski's follow up to last year's 'Reframe'. As a colour, magenta represents the artistic union of the energetic red and the introspective violet, which is demonstrated in the 5 different shades of the artist on this EP. 'Magenta 1' is a light- hearted house banger, built around a sexy disco sample, whereas the vibes of 'Magenta 2' take us into minor musical territory. 'Magenta 3' delivers the very same hypnotizing trademark sounds we were introduced to through Nowakowski first RWAV EP . 'Magenta 4' represents a deep bounce, with intriguing bleeps and cut-up vocals.
Finally Nowakowski's love of Detroit is displayed through the abyssal synths and bouncing beats in 'Magenta 5'. The 'Magenta' EP displays a sonic portrait of the artist as a young man, it's a freshly sounding blueprint of what's to come. The future is bright, the future is magenta.

With an estimate of 500.000 inhabitants Surinam has a lively music scene. Although Surinam is a relatively unknown country, it has a strong influence on the Netherlands where many of the Surinam people have been living since a couple of decades ago. The music from the Surinam is mainly known for it's kaseko (which evolved out of the traditional Kawina music) and soul music, but the Surinamese have also been active in other genres such as pop, funk & jazz. Most of the Surinamese music is hard to come by, and especially its funk is rare. Because it's that rare, you can wonder how much of it has been made. The occasional funk tracks pop up on a kaseko or soul album, but full funk albums are difficult to locate. Our aim is to document these lost gems: dancefloor tracks which meet the international standard of 'good' dance music. The drive to discover something new has brought us to Surinam and while diggin through these records we found a bunch of crossover tunes resulting in this specialized boogie funk compilation. The SURINAM! compilation features 10 rare tracks within the Surinamese boogie funk genre. Key players from the '76-'83 era such as Solat, Sumy, Erwin Bouterse, Reingoud and Thunderstorm are all included! The compilation also features extensive liner notes containing in-depth information on all the artists of the compilation. This album will be volume one in the Surinam! series. The other upcoming issues will focus on other the other genres of obscure Surinam music, such as Jazz and Soul.

LUV005 already and no doubt another classy four tracker that will top a few sales charts in the coming weeks and months. It's been a wonderful summer for the Luv Shack crew with every release bettering the last. The response and reaction to the new label has been astounding and beyond a pleasant surprise. With intelligent dance music such as this, it really shouldn't be such a surprise, but in a world of mass mediocre music, it does happen more often than not, that the good stuff doesn't always find its way. The guys though have found a place in a lot of hearts and quite a few tasty DJ sets and record boxes with four very consistent releases. So, here we go with what is yet another worthy addition to any half decent DJ's repertoire me thinks. And it is Lee Stevens who teams up with local friends to deliver a very crafted set of aural niceness for your distinguished pleasure. First up, collaborating with LeSale on LuvSick a soulful and later 80's boogie joint reminiscent of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. Keeping it simple and letting the groove do the work, this track will slide into your Disco set, nu or old, like a beautiful breeze. Track two on the A side is Lee teaming up with label companion Jakobin on Find a Girl. Deeper, evangelical, actually quite ethereal, but with a proper wobbly basslines and some serious stomp on the kick drum. Like the drummer has one of those military boots on. Deep, deep celestial house in which you better turn the lights off in the club (or else!) The deepness continues on the flip side with the first track Deep Inside featuring Simonlebon. Spacey and cosmic, bass and synthesizer heavy, but with the quality of weightlessness and a soft delicacy. It's a little treasure of a track that will find some broad appeal, especially when you need to break up a 'too banging' set. Think of 'Equilibrium' and you know what I mean (hopefully) Finally, B-2 (and it is by no means the weakest link on this EP) is Domino in association with Lee on Be Yourself. Funky and flavoursome with bright young vocals and keys. Again, as with all Luv Shack outings, you get this effortless and sexy settled groove, basslines that softly shake the rump, and you always get simple sensual synthesizer action. The sexy track on the EP! Quality mastering as always by the magician that is Patrick Pulsinger. Yeah, it's another high calibre EP from Luv Shack. Enjoy! Alan Brown, Soul Seduction, Vienna.

The Smugglers Inn is an independent radio show/podcast which is produced and presented by Daniel Berman aka Red Rack'em/Hot Coins every second Wednesday. The show began life in 2007 on the newly formed web radio station http://www.myhouseyourhouse.net and soon developed a loyal, musically informed audience due to the diversity and increasingly upfront nature of the musical selections. As the profile of the show grew over time, it began to pick up some celebrity fans including The Boiler Room, Secret Sundaze, Word and Sound and syndication to several more stations including http://ntslive.co.uk/ and http://www.sweatlodgeradio.com/ quickly followed. The popular podcast is hosted on Daniels website http://www.redrackem.com and Itunes.
The Smugglers Inn has become a unique testing ground for new artists and productions and many of todays highly rated 'new school' producers benefited from early support on the show as well as behind the scenes a+r advice from Daniel when approached by record labels after being featured on the show.With a network of talent to draw from, it seemed a logical step to start a record label so this is the first release from what promises to be an interesting series of eclectic, dancefloor focussed musical endeavours from an all-star international cast.

Producer, writer, arranger, engineer & multi instrumentalist Boris Midney was born in Russia but defected to the US via
Tokyo. He had his first US success as part of the Russian Jazz Quartet. Both his parents were musicians and he was
trained from an early age at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. His background in Russia gave him a unique style,
like no other disco artist. And unlike a lot of dance music his richly textured soundscape's can be enjoyed equally at home
or on the dance floor.

First up from a long term member of Classic family is Honey Dijon's remix of the Classic classic, DJ Ali's 'You Don't know' - A heavy garage lead stomp through techno meets Chez Damier - A main stay of Luke's set recently and one of the biggest records at Jamie Jone's Paradise night at DC10 that Luke recently frequented alongside another monstrous record from DJ Parrot(Crooked Man) and Mark Brydon (Moloko). Under the guise of Knights of the Hunted, Parrot & Mark deliver 'X The Beat' - it stomps its way through Storm Queen meets Sylvester. Getting an official digital release on Girls later on in the year, Classic get the privilege of releasing it exclusively on vinyl.
A welcome return to Classic for Narcoleptic who delivers some deep garage that has already been getting love from Matt Tolfrey and by no means finally, new to the family come BiteOfire who get the remix love from Berlin residing Kris Wadsworth.

Fantastic vinyl reissue of Hot Chocolate's most outstanding 1970s club classics selected for their incredible energy and floor-filling capabilities. First off is the 1979 monster that is 'Don't Turn It Off'. Having enjoyed a huge revival in 2009 when made popular again on dance floors by 40 Thieves, this unashamedly catchy cut was also a stand out on the Eskimo Rub & Tug mix. Next on side A is the extended 12' version of 'Every One's A Winner'. Permanently on Baldelli's repeat list and with its unmistakable twanging guitar riff, this 1979 bomb was a sure-fire hit in discos and living rooms alike. Flip over for 'Night Ride', a deep electronic disco cut with psychedelic undertones which was strangely never released as a single. Last up is 1976 disco-stomper 'Heaven's In The Back Seat Of My Cadillac', with its dominating funk-filled bassline, recently edited magically by The Revenge. Essential EP for any self-respecting party record box!

Ralf GUM proves again with his new album that there is constancy - and consistency - to be found in this fast-moving world. In amongst a flood of half-baked, plastic-sounding music, his soulful sound almost seems like an anomaly. 'Never Leaves You' is testament to the fact that Ralf GUM has stayed true to his roots and his particular, well-honed style. Never one to skimp on the perfection of his arrangements, or sacrifice artful production to follow the latest trends, this album is his opus.
Since the start of Ralf GUM's musical career, he's tirelessly praised the importance of real songs, as opposed to simple, dancefloor-oriented productions and his new outing is homage to 'the song'. While many categories and styles could be foisted on it as a description, 'dancefloor soul music' is probably the best summation of the long-player. Featuring an extensive list of top musicians, the music on the album is far from the average programmed dance 'track'. And the impressive list of vocalists on the record means that, while it's absolutely dancefloor-relevant, it'll also warm the hearts of home listeners.
These vocalists include some huge-hitters, such as two-time Grammy Award-winning British R&B and soul singer Caron Wheeler, who gained fame writing and singing the lead vocals on two of Soul II Soul's biggest hits, "Keep on Movin'" and "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)". Her collab with Ralf - entitled 'So Good' - is her first ever real House track and is evidence of her outstanding talent. Monique Bingham (with whom Ralf recorded 'Kissing Strangers' in 2008 - the best-selling house track of the year on Traxsource) proves on 'Take Me To My Love' that she's still the first lady of deep lyrics in House music, while Oluhle (who was born in Zimbabwe and won the Zimbabwean Achievers Award for Best Female Artist in 2011) really makes her presence felt in such royal company. Ditto Canadian Jaidene Veda, who's already seduced a number of heavyweight producers and countless listeners around the globe with her breathy voice.
The male faction of singers includes 'the voice of house music', Robert Owens, who features on 'Fly Free', the first single taken from the album which was a huge hit on download charts and playlists across the planet. Furthermore, 'the king of Gospel House', Kenny Bobien, contributes two songs to the album, and Kafele delivers his second joint outing with Ralf, following their highly successful 2010 release 'Complicated'. In addition to these, Ralf GUM has recorded with one of France's finest voices Jocelyn Mathieu, who gained fame for his releases on Vega Records and collaborated with highly talented soul singer, Jon Pierce. He completes a list of sterling singers that just prove Ralf's relevance as one of the most sought-after international soulful house producers. This new long-player showcases the growth of this incredible artist, who never compromised and never left his signature style. Ten songs in which there's much to hear and feel. The music abounds in soul; it's jaunty and deep simultaneously. Combining traditional and contemporary elements whilst still being futuristic, it's well crafted enough to Never Leave You.

After 2010's 'Tuning Echoes' Mock & Toof return with their second album entitled 'Temporary Happiness'. Previous vocal collaborators Pollyester & Gavin Gordon are replaced by young Swiss artist Ghostape who features on half of the 10 tracks, the remainder being instrumentals.

Just over a year ago, in July 2011, Harmless Records released their first installment in their new Mixology series, releasing Mixology-The Definitive Salsoul Mixes. This triple album featured thirty-one tracks from disco's premier label, Salsoul. Now the Mixology series will return on 20th August 2012, with Harmless Records turning their attention to another of disco's most important labels SAM Records. Mixology-Sam Records Extended Play is released on 3 different vinyl samplers featuring edits by the likes of Todd Terje, 6th Borough Project, Maxxi Soundsystem & Soul Clap. Before I tell you about the highlights of Mixology-SAM Records Extended Play, I'll tell you about the history of Sam Records.
When Sam Weiss founded SAM Records in Long Island City, New York in 1976, he was something of a veteran of the music industry. He'd been involved in the music industry since the late forties, when he and his brother Hy founded Parody Records. Although the company wasn't a commercial success, and soon folded, the Weiss brothers persevered. Eight years later, in 1954, they founded Madison Records, which was primarily a vehicle for releasing R&B records. Soon, Madison was releasing soul, doo wop, pop, rock, soul and gospel. Madison continued right through until the late seventies. By then, Sam Weiss had founded another record label, Sam Records, which he specifically setup to cash in on disco's popularity.

This latest EP from UK punk-funk outfit Gramme represents the final release in the run up to the debut album due out this November. The EP opens with Girls Talk, which witnesses the band occupying curious new territory with lead vocalist Sam Taylor's playground taunt playing hard-to-get with am addictive groove.Next up is Face To Face which is the sound of Gramme at the wheel mixing in the spookiness of David Byrne and Brian Eno voodoo jamming. It's Magic performs a welcome surprise by mixing lo-slung funk with a bubble pop vocal. The EP comes to a shuddering grand finale with Two Minds - the most electronic track to date mixing dreamy vocals with cut back spikes of machine funk - this is the sound of Gramme's very own production team getting sweaty in a late night studio session in deep, dark SE London. There is simply no denying it. It's official: Gramme are back.

Chicken Lips are back with a new release on Southern Fried Records. D.R.O.M.P (Don't Rain On My Parade) is a disco inspired groove that draws on the NYC eighties vibe that has always been at the heart of the Lips work, with guest vocalist Charmaine making up the line up on this outing.
It comes with a stunning set of remixes, as always Andy from the Lips has created an Emperor Machine interpretation that's darker and more cosmic than its original, Dean does the same job under his The Rhythm Odyssey moniker, providing a jerky acidic house dub for the deeper floors. Old pal Headman turns in his classic slo-mo tight grooves, new kids Amine Edge & Dance go deep as you like in the same vein as their Diynamic releases and finally SFR favourite Sona Vabos delivers one of his finest remixes to date, with this bouncy floor filler.
In 1999 Andrew Meecham and Dean Meredith formed Chicken Lips. The original idea was to seek underground salvation and immerse themselves in the musical styles that they grew up with and loved. Together they also made up the seminal early nineties dance act Bizarre Inc who scored 3 top ten national hits, toured the world and worked with some of the biggest names around, delivering genre defining remixes along the way.
2003 saw brethren Stevie Kotey join the lips, with Stevie on board to fulfill DJ and tour duties and help compile the now classic DJ Kicks for !K7. In 2005 the final piece of the jigsaw was added in the form of long time friend and collaborator Jonny Spencer aka Jonny Tonic. This is when they created the masterpiece 'He Not In', a track that has been played the world over, and described as 'the bass line that changed House Music' and 'A game changer'. Its dubhouse sound did make a big impact on the scene and continues to work on the floor today, inspiring many of the bassline led deep house that's taken over the world!
As well as working under the Chicken Lips moniker they also record together as Big200, Zeefungk & Randee Jean. Solo projects include The Rhythm Odyssey/Mind fair/White light Circus (Dean), The Emperor Machine/ Sir Drew/Grand Corporation (Andy). Their approach to production is quite simply unique! Andy is an avid collector and owner of some of the most sought after synthesizers known to man. His studio is more akin to a synthesizer museum rather than studio hub. Dean is a seasoned Producer/programmer & DJ with an acute eye for detail.
Their debut album 'Echoman' was in many ways ahead of it's time drawing on eighties NYC influences. It sounds as current now (if not more so) than what it did back in 1999. The second album 'Extended play' includes the underground hit single 'He Not In'. 'Making Faces' was the third released in 2006 with vocalist Jonny spencer and a final fourth LP 'Experience Of Malfunction' on their Lipservice imprint. Since then the collective has been busy with solo projects, making babies and touring all over the world. Now the original dynamic production duo of Andy Meecham & Dean Meredith are ready to unleash their new Audio carnival on your ears!.
