Let's be frank: I'm a Prins Thomas fan boy. It is not a secret and therefore there is no reason to hide it awkwardly. So, when he asked me to write something about his second solo album (unmistakably called 'Prins Thomas 2'), the smart Norwegian knew that I wouldn't come up with any cruel things to say. The good thing is: even if you are not a fan boy or girl, you won't find any of those here. 'Prins Thomas 2' is stunning from start to finish. While its predecessor and his album works with Lindstrom took care of the krauty, rocky, brainy and 'real musician' side of things, the man from Oslo goes back to the starting point of his recording career: one man and his idiosyncratic way of making people dance.

The seven tracks on this LP or the eight on the mixed CD (including two bonus tracks) owe as much to the traditional methods of house or techno and extraterrestrial disco (I shipped around the 'S'-word here) as they disregard it and they are as characteristic to Thomas' studio space (I used the 'S'-word here) and his sound aesthetics as they are to his infinite will to surprise. Directly from the guts of the man behind Full Pupp, Internasjonal and a gazillion of tailor-made remixes, you get to hear joyful reminiscences of the late and great Arthur Russell in 'Tjukkas Pa Karussel', nasty drum jams like 'Flau Pappadans 1', 'Bom Bom' or the Perkmiks of 'Bobletekno' next to the sheer and untainted beauty that is 'Symfonisk Utviklingshemming'. The spirits of these recordings are light-hearted, sincere, a joy to listen and dance to and cumulate in an album that deserves the name. Whatever the train is called that has Prins Thomas at his helm, you better get a ticket.

Boola (part of (a:rpia:r)) started spinning in the summer of 2005, in Ibiza, where he had the great opportunity to play at the famous DC10. As a producer, he had his first release on the romanian superlabel (a:rpia:r), followed by Lomidhigh Lmtd.,Rekids, Lomidhigh Organic, Innervisions, All Inn, Cecille, Soweso and some tracks on Cabin Fever, including Balada Redo, featured on the Fabric 48 cd, mixed by Radio Slave. In his dj sets, Boola tries to bring back some of the dirty "in yo face" old school sound, warming up the decks for legends like Dj Sneak and Eddie Richards. Performances at Panorama Bar (Berlin), Trouw (Amsterdam) and other european clubs. He represented Romania (alongside Demos, Petre Inspirescu and Praslea) at the Worldtronics 2008 Festival in Berlin and mixed at the famous italian New Years Afterhour, "Fiesta Privada". Legendary Dutch dance duo Chocolate Puma craft a two-disc mix spanning house, techno and everything in-between.
Gaston Steenkist and René ter Horst - aka Chocolate Puma - are two of Holland's most celebrated electronic producers. With a career spanning 20 years, 200-odd releases, two significant UK chart hits ('Give It Up' and 'I Wanna Be U') and countless remixes under their various guises they are a duo whose influence on the European dance music scene cannot be overstated.
Their latest project is an In The House mix for Defected, a compilation which represents the culmination of a life spent in and around house music. Including tracks from Chez Damier, Ben Westbeech, Claude von Stroke, Kraak & Smaak, Gregor Salto and many more, Chocolate Puma have remixed and re-edited almost every track, with an end result halfway between mix compilation and artist album.

Here comes the third release on new German label TOY TONICS. A label dedicated to all shades of modern Outsider House Music.

First release was by Italian High Energy Diva HARD TON (including the great remix by Dimitri from Paris & DJ Rocca).
Second one by SACCO VANZETTI DUO (including a hot JOHN TEJADA Remix)

This third one comes from fabulous Mexico. By newcomers MOON RUNNER. Formed by musicians Alec Sander a.k.a La Royale and Juan Soto, who have been resident DJ's at Mexico City's hottest clubs like Rhodesia and MN Roy for a few years now. They make deep, electronic funkhouse. The main track got already played by top producers such as Space Ranger and Aeroplane (who used it on one of his recent podcasts).

The release comes out digitally and on vinyl and includes a great remix by KOMPAKT and COMEME artist DANIEL MALOSO. (MALOSO along with REBOLLEDO are probably the most talked about mexican producers today.) Mexico is hot now!
