After the huge feedback on Je Dàvu's Edit of the classic 'I Need You Tonight' from INXS, it's time to make it official. So here a new label with three disco goodies for you!
Side A contains the edit of the classic 'I Need You Tonight' from INXS, especially made for the closing of the legendary club 11, Amsterdam. Pitched up to put any dance-floor on fire with the ever repeating vocal 'Cause I'm Not Sleeping'. The first track on the B-side is an instrumental edit of the all time favorite from Crown Heights Affair 'You gave Me Love'. The second track on the B-side contains a super sexy edit of Double Exposure's 'I Got The Hots For Ya'. Building up from the break in to a pure sex groove that will get the ladies going!

Three superb re-edits from Karim, the man destined to become the new Todd Terje. 'All the joy that you bring' is everything that is good about disco with none of the cheese. Flip then for the pure soul and heavy funk of Lou Johnson's 'The Beat. Then to round off perfectly we've got a great instrumental of Grand Master Flash's classic 'The Message' This is a huge release!

After the high acclaimed first release last month with Chris Rea's Josephine, we're back with the second edtion of MB EDITS. This time we play tribute to Swedish pop/rock band Eskobar with their world wide major hit back in 2002. Someone New features Heather Nova on vocals. The song was in TV commercials for Peugeot 208 and mobile operator 3. The first edit comes from Sweden's high rising stars Copycat and Martin Brodin. Their slow electronic-disco chugger is simply put as a beautiful adoption of the original with the hook line working just sublime. Once the song is over you'll will play it over and over. As you'll notice, the original is such a feel-good track. They both lately finished remixes for Nang and LaBelle. Second out is Danish René Kirkegaard alias Cemetary. A producer who likes his Deep/Tech House. And his remix is nothing but a true slow Deep House builder for over 9 minutes with the vocals of Heather Nova coming in just as sweet as we want it. We'd be very surprised if this track wouldn't be rated as one of the best underground remixes of 2012!!!

The more he releases the better it gets and now he's finally starting to get noticed worldwide.

The Light Fantastic is a dancefloor orientated club album with a range of influences like - deep house, vintage synthesizers, classic boogie, disco, Chicago jack, acid house, and even a dash of full-throttle rave revivalism.
There are many ways to move forward as an artist. You can reinvent yourself, keep track of fashions, or try bold new things. Tom Trago has spent the best part of 10 years pushing his sound in impressive new directions. Yet on his new album, the well-regarded Amsterdam-based producer has done things slightly differently. This time round, his influences come from much closer to home, and he has admitted to being inspired by the dancefloor-focused style with which he made his name.

Trago is an old hand at this kind of thing. Back in 2009, his debut album, Voyage Direct, impressed with its warm, disco-centric blends of full-throttle deep house and boogie-influenced synthesizer funk. He cast his net wider on 2011's Iris, choosing to work with a wide variety of international collaborators on an album that laid bare his myriad of musical influences.

On the Light Fantastic, he's decided to 'step back to move forwards' with a warm, involving set that puts the simple pleasures of the best dancefloor moments at its heart.

'I tried to go a bit back towards the style I was doing on Voyage Direct, so dancefloor beats with deeper impact,' Trago admits. 'I was trying to male tracks that work on the dancefloor, but also move your heart.'

In some ways, The Light Fantastic is Trago in 'back to basics' mode. Partly inspired by his ever-increasing travels around the world to DJ, it melds together a range of influences - deep house, vintage synthesizers, classic boogie, disco, Chicago jack, acid house, and even a dash of full-throttle rave revivalism on the raw funk of 'The Elite' - on a set that sounds like it was painted in vivid colours by an artist at the top of his game.

'I'm like a professor in a lab, trying to make little ideas work,' Trago enthuses, warming to the theme. 'The tracks are all there in my head, like a puzzle, and I have to make all the pieces fit together.'

The 'back to basics' theme extended to his choice of collaborators. Whereas Iris was notable for featuring an impressive cast list of international singers, musicians and producers, The Light Fantastic is more of a homegrown affair. While plenty of people lent a hand during the recording process, they were trusted locals from the Dutch electronic music scene, rather than outsiders.

'This time, I thought 'whoever walks in the studio can get involved',' he says. 'If they walked in, they could sing, play some synths or do some mixing. A lot of people came to hang out and ended up lending a hand. It's a much more fun way of working than sending your track to somebody across the other side of the World.'

There are many collaborations on The Light Fantastic, but listen out for contributions from Steffi, Ben Westbeech, 'studio neighbour' San Proper, Makam, vocalist Holly Wood and, most surprisingly, a local club owner who just happened to swing by the studio. 'Using my friends was a big part of the process,' Trago admits. 'One of the points of the album was using people who were close to home, part of the family almost.'

It's an approach that definitely paid dividends. Certainly, this celebration of Amsterdam's blossoming electronic music scene adds a little extra frisson of excitement to The Light Fantastic's impressive vibrancy.

By the time the rush-inducing positivity of 'The Wrong Right' gives way to the mutant alien funk of album closer 'Desire', you'll be ready to listen to it all over again. That's the thing with The Light Fantastic - it's a trip you'll want to take again and again.

What leads an individual to walk the often obsessive path of the crate digger Raiding filthy basements and
accumulating back-breaking stacks of wax on a tantalising search for the unearthed groove, Kon cites early
exposure as the source of his calling: "One of the first physical records I fell in love with was Electric Light
Orchestra's El Dorado. The music on that LP is incredible, climatic strings, and full of amazing songwriting.
To digest and absorb music with such depth is the best thing for a 4 year old. Get 'em going young! I know
this is part of the reason why later in life I searched further than what was just on the radio."

In this era of Nü-Disco, Space Disco, Cosmic Disco, Disco House and shit, there must be a beacon of quality to light the way and lead the faithful back to a place where good grooves matter and realness is holding court.

REPRESS ALERT: With just one 7" release to their name in the form of the 1981 release, Jive Baby On A Saturday Night, the cult of The Jellies was possibly accidentally assured with the long lost song being rediscovered by collectors and championed by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore no less. Picked up and reissued by the stellar Trunk Records in 2010, the B-side cut, however, was sadly overlooked. Now Emotional Rescue are proud to license The Conversation and remaster it especially for this rerelease. Based around a simple drum and bass rhythm, interspersed with crowd noise, playful female vocal yelps and sprinkled with dub effects thrown in to the mix and you wouldn't probably think too much would be going for a track that the band put together in the last two hours of their studio time after Jive Baby had been completed. However, what you get is a killer gem of pop-punk-dub oddness that gets your head nodding to its infectious, repetitive rhythm laden with effects. With just this one (perfect) track available for license it seemed only right to hand it over to the in-house production team, Apophenia, to do their increasingly trademark dubbed out reworking, this time in the form of a true, but respectful "Version" for the flip. With both members of The Jellies sadly now living overseas this piece of early '80s British dub as it were, can now be fully treasured for posterity while also, proving a nice little smokers delight.

Phantasy, the record label helmed by much-loved DJ/super-producer Erol Alkan, is pleased to welcome the inimitable Nadia Ksaiba to the fold with 'Virtual Lover', set for release on September TBC 2013.

Nadia Ksaiba is highly regarded for her well honed DJing skills, Rhythm Connection radio show on the ascendant Dalston station NTS and production work as G&S. Music has been in her life since she traded violin for guitar and some drums as a child, graduating through punky teen bands, producing primitive forms of dance music with the help of an Atari ST home computer and working in record shops from the age of fourteen. Later Nadia helmed Our Disco with the like minded Rory Phillips, which ran for five years and featured an array of high profile guests. The hugely popular Our Disco gave Ksaiba the platform to DJ further afield, including tours with Simian Mobile Disco and Klaxons, and festivals such as Bestival, Bugged Out Weekender and Stop Making Sense.

The urge to make music has remained with Nadia throughout, and first manifested itself in the G&S project she shares with Matt Waites. Together the pair have released a smattering of underground hits, notably on Andy Blake's seminal Dissident label, a contribution to fellow Phantasy alumni In Flagranti's 'Electric Fling' series, as well as an early gem on Disco Bloodbath's own label.

Nadia now joins the ranks of Daniel Avery, Connan Mockasin and Babe, Terror with her debut release on Phantasy, and it's a step that might surprise a few people as she steps into the forefront as a singer and songwriter. Hearing Nadia's cooing vocals over the rasping synth infused house of 'Virtual Lover' will stop many people in their tracks, but for a music obsessive like her it's the next logical step. It's a track that has Ksaiba and Waites fusing the dancefloor dynamic of Midnight Star with the pop of those life-affirming early Madonna singles, offering up an intriguing insight into the forthcoming debut album Ksaiba is currently working on.

'Virtual Lover' is backed with an out-and-out banger of a remix from Detroit electro-funk wunderkind Jimmy Edgar, who strips out some of the sweetness of the original for an altogether darker, late night take.

Emotional Response is delighted to release our second album of the summer, with Dusseldorf duo Musiccargo's beautiful masterpiece.

As one of the bands that inspired the setting up Emotional Response, this project has been literally years coming to fruition. However, crafting an album of such beautiful musicianship cannot be rushed, so to now have them on the roster is fitting.

With just 3 releases over an 8 year period this elusive duo are certainly in no hurry. Their cult debut album, Hand In Hand, was so scarce outside of their native Dusseldorf, let alone Germany, personally imported copies were the only way to delve in to their contribution to their Cities musical cannon.

This sophomore album takes the Krautrock sound of their forebears, Neu!, La Dusseldorf, Cluster and Harmonia and welds in to a modern cohesive whole. A series of songs that play as a single piece rather than as individual tracks. No crass concept album though, this is love of the craft of making music, the use of live instrumentation and of the studio as a central instrument, to create a pure sound they term 'Adult Kraut'.

Like their friends and peers, Kreidler and Land of Light, there is no one defining piece, no hit, just an overall feeling, vibe, whatever you want to name it. Take a trip in Harmonie.

April 2013 sees the release of Norwegian Disco Viking Rune Linbaek's latest long player, on his Drum Island label

Also known as Neil Tolliday, Nottingham-based Nail created an entire universe of gentle loveliness as one half of the celebrated downtempo duo Bent; however, after ten years of Bent success, he's recently returned to the house music he loves, delivering a series of lessons in how to make fresh-tasting house that still has that certain classic 'something' - the ingredient X that keeps dancefloors bouncing.
Nail's latest selection is the Yonks EP on Sheffield label Shabby Doll.

Really, it's no surprise that Nail should be such a house master. After all, he was producing killer British dance music back in his pre-Bent era, unleashing the hedonistic Nottingham spirit that made his hometown one of the principal nodes of UK dance music. And now he's back to make the earth move once again - but if you want to know the secret, he's not telling. About Nail Nail, aka Neil Tolliday, is based in Nottingham, but has toured globally as a member of Bent, as a DJ and as a producer in his own right. He has worked with collaborators including Jon Marsh, Sian Evans and Katty Heath, and recorded for labels including Sport, Open, DIY and Classic Music Company.

'Marwencol' manages to deftly pull off a Balearic Wu-Tang move, whil e'Love Spin' is a beautifully lolloping beach bar jam, which comes complete with a very dubbed-out dub version too
Top drawer music from an ever dependable label

Wet Play dive into the record world with 'Where Good Friends Meet #1' a show case of artists and sounds from the infamous Manchester soiree.

First up is Loge with 'E 180 Love', a dazzling, hydraulic-driven ride round west coast LA sunset. Keep those shades down to reflect the neon beams this track fires from its hardware driven body mechanics. Hear the fiery red sun melt into the square bass that simply repeats on and on....
Teleporting us straight into 5D is Skanky Magic. Crazy use of spring reverbs, darting leads and anti-gravity sonics will have you bouncing all over inner space as you adjust to the hydraulic two-note buzz. Electric, mesmerising and from another galaxy completely. Its blissful soaring through the cosmos in a technicolour haze.

Metrodome's '909 Lovin' is next. Precision built for setting dance floors alight and with an arrangement that'll twist heads inside out. Just when you think this track is burnt out another sick baseline sets the floor on fire again accompanied by one of the maddest signature sounds since Terror Danjah's 'Gremlin'. Pure heat.

Finally we get Theo's Ugly Edits and Jamal Moss's Members Only edits interpreted by a speed fuelled, level riding rogue form Manchester's underbelly. 'Edit 2 ( 2007 Version )' bumps and simmers uncontrollably riding the sample like a bitch before dropping into tripped out celestial disco chaos. If you thought only the Detroit and Chicago cats knew how to fuck an MPC hard then Ste Spandex has just brought home the bacon.
