Suicide Commando - Electro Convulsion Therapy

Rare Self produced tape from 1993 - LP including free bonus cd , limited to 500 handnumbered copies.
It's been exactly 20 years since the first SUICIDE COMMANDO album "Critical Stage" was released on the German Off Beat label.
It was the promising start of a long and ultimatily succesful career and today SUICIDE COMMANDO can be easily described as on of THE leading harsh electro acts in the alternative scene.
What some of you might not know is that Johan Van Roy still released 9 (!) tapes before releasing his debut album in 1994.
"Electro Convulsion Therapy" was the last and without any doubt the most succesfull tape released in 1993. It already contained the original 4 track recordings of later clubhits like "Traumatize", "Necrophilia" or "Time", but also featured other pearls like "Close Your Eyes", "Sheer Horror" or "How It Feels".
"Electro Convulsion Therapy" holds the complete last tape on lp, but also contains a selection of the best songs from the other early tapes released between 1988 and 1992, including several rare songs and even one previously unreleased song as a bonus on the free included cd version , all remastered by Eric Van Wonterghem at Prodam Berlin 2015.

Kim And Buran - Orbita Cd

Orbita Cd

CDNANG149
Nang
07.03.2016

Following on from two extremely well received singles on Nang we are pleased to release a mighty-fine album from the Saint-Petersburg based Kim and Buran. The group have been around on the disco scene for nearly 12+ years now and with their unique styles of twists and tones. A hook up with Nang was definitely overdue. The foursome cover a kaleidoscope of styles with their music, brushing through the phases of disco, soul, funk and electronic sounds.

The group seem to have a fondness for travel... particularly of the airline and space variety. Its not only the song titles that reflect this, it's the constant momentum and escapism within the music itself. 70s funk crosss-overs, cosmic pads, arppegiated firefly synths all power the tracks along. All complimented and enhanced with the rolling guitar riffs and picked lines.

Tracks such 'Voyager' moves towards the slightly darker edges of the cosmos, the pointed bass line marches through the back of the mix and underpins the gradual accession from the keys whilst the enigmatical pads drift from peak to peak as you loose yourself in the shadowed ambience that is the deep, cosmic skill of Kim and Buran.

Rounding off the release is 'Fly To Sea' which brings you back down to the terra firma with a graceful bump, a funky riff is rolled out at you in full force closely guarded by the cosmic flare you have become accustomed to whilst you've taken the cosmic journey.

Its not all about travel however with tracks such as Teleskope and Running On The Waves Kim & Buran don their balearic hats to server up a permanent slice of Summer. Brushing away those wintry blues.

Nang fans enjoy the trip. And it is a trip.

Out Of Limbo - Cold Stars

Disco Modernism is proud to announce the imminent release of a brand new 12' by Italian new wave trio Out Of Limbo. 'Cold Stars' is taken from the band first album 'Kino' and it's been remixed by the Italoconnection team of Fred Ventura and Paolo Gozzetti using their trademark modern Italo sounds, powerful and melodic with a great respect of the original composition. On the B side you'll find three great songs in a more reflective mood produced by the band, B3 is a cover version of a song made popular in the early 80's by British new wave band The Passions.

Golden Ivy - To Elvira From Ivy With Love

Music For Dreams continues to roll out the Balearic goodies with this superb new mini album from Golden Ivy. Golden Ivy aka Ivar Lantz is a Malmö based composer, producer and co-founder (along with Prins Emanuel and Gucci Jehova) of esteemed Swedish record label Fasaan. He has several great releases under his belt featuring on playlists from LEXX to Ruf Dug and his first solo record 'Sketches Of Golden Ivy' sold out super fast on its release last year. 'To Elvira From Ivy With Love' is the beautiful follow up - a birthday love letter to his girlfriend. Originally recorded on cassette and with a live feel, this timeless six tracker is dripping with deep grooves of pure emotion. The mini LP kicks off with 'Elvira's Theme' already a firm favorite of Manchester's Moonboots, followed by 'Levitera', another winner full of hypnotic percussion and ethereal synths and finally the gorgeous 'Samba' with heavy layers of keys, drum machines and bells. Side B continues to flow along the same path of elegant summery vibes with 'Vernissage', 'Time Out' and 'GT Salong' but ups the dancefloor pressure introducing shades of 80s boogie and electro while still showcasing Golden Ivy's taste for sublime chords. This is a true artist expressing his innermost self - in the words of label boss Kenneth Bager 'a future classic'. Get this while you can...

Sparkle / Two Man Sound - Disco Madness / Que Tal Americ

Fantastic reissue of two highly sought-after disco gems from Canadian indie label Attic. First up is Sparkle's awesome and very rare piece of jazzy disco-funk 'Disco Madness' from 1979. A soaring high-voltage killer of a tune, it sports a pacy bassline supported by high-quality breaks and über-funky guitar riffs. Flip over for the great 'Que Tal America!' from Two Man Sound who despite hailing from Belgium managed to create this monster Latino classic. Seamlessly fusing samba, jazz, bossanova and disco, this record was a huge underground anthem in New York back in the 70s. With its immensely funky salsa grooves and fabulous rhythm combo, you can understand why this track has been sampled to death. Unmissable disco at its finest - sheer class!

Various - Leo Mas Presents Mediterraneo - Rare Balearica Vol 1

Music For Dreams is proud to present the first vinyl sampler taken from their forthcoming compilation selected by legendary Ibiza DJ and record collector extraordinaire Leo Mas. The Italian-born DJ gained his reputation spinning alongside Alfredo in the mid-to-late 80s in seminal club Amnesia, creating a sound which influenced clubland worldwide and which resonates massively today in the modern Balearic scene. 'Mediterraneo - Rare Balearica Vol 1' brings together some of his favourite obscurities and rare beauties from the 70s and 80s - tracks that both shaped him and star in his sets.
The A side belongs to an elegant disco suite called 'Dolce Luna' made in 1978 by Gianni Bella, the brother of singer Marcella Bella - a modern classic and secret weapon of Manchester's DJ Moonboots.
Over on side B we have 'L'Ultima Notte' by writer, model, porn actress and politician Moana Pozzi, from 1989. A quality funk track, quite rare too, this is an homage to the class and intelligence of Leo Mas' favourite porno star, who died too young aged just 33 in mysterious circumstances. Viva Moana Pozzi.
Lastly comes the little-known yet totally captivating 'Gil (Voglia Di Terra)' by Ivano Fossati & Oscar Prudente - an exquisitely beautiful spacey track that the very young teenager Leo Mas used to listen to in the year 1978.
All in all, another winner from Music For Dreams and an essential three tracker for the Balearic collector.

Various - Mangiami - La Compilation

Mangiami 'La Compilation' celebrates the titular NYC Lower East Side Italian restaurant and party. Translated literally as 'Eat Me', over it's six years of existence it was a legendary hang out for the city's underground cognoscenti like DJ Harvey, Tim Sweeney or Eric Duncan, as well as serving up a mean seafood Risotto Alla Campagnola.

When owner and DJ Gianfranco Costa approached Golf Channel's Phil South with the idea of releasing commemorative edits and a compilation album to capture the vibe, he jumped at the chance. First, they released 3 Mangiami Edit 12's in 2014, and now the full comp. The album features new tracks from regulars Totes Preesh (Sean Marquand and Patrick Wood from The Phenomenal Handclap Band), Dedication (Felix Dickinson's Japanese band project), familiar downtown presence Nick Chacona aided on vocals by Cole Odin Berggren. Cole is a DJ, singer and multi instrumentalist from San Francisco, previously in rock band Bobbie Marie and psychedelic band Ownership, his new project is a solo outing of psychedelic rock-inspired electronic music called Song Rider.

Golf Channel's own The Loose Control Band (West Coast legends DJ Spun & Jonah Sharp of Spacetime Continuum). Gianfranco himself turns vocalist on two new productions, one from Throne of Blood's Populette and another from Alex From Tokyo And Bing Ji Ling. Alongside these are two long overdue reissues of lost classics by Thugfucker and Will Burnett's Grackle alias.

Unofficial musical co director / promoter Jason Kincade was affectionately known as 'The Mayor' of the restaurant. He writes: 'From 2006 until its lamented closing in 2012 Mangiami was the downtown clubhouse for a very New York cross-section of DJs, artists, musicians, fashion people, music obsessives and assorted layabouts. On any given night of the week you knew that within an hour of sitting down at the bar any number of your friends would soon appear, and be entertained by the massively charming owner, Gianfranco. Then there were the DJ nights. Every Monday (and later Wednesday) from after work until far too late on a weeknight pretty much a who's who of local heroes and international superstars would play on the rickety old Technics sat on the bar, with mayhem and general debauchery to follow. It wouldn't be a surprise to come in one night and find DJ Harvey at a table with Tim Sweeney next to Alex from Tokyo and Bing Ji Ling with Eric Duncan manning the decks and 100 people crowded into the tiny space and spilling out into the street.

Before things reached a climactic close, one of many highpoints was the night Tony Humphries asked to play there. The beauty of how full circle things had come was not lost on Costa and South and when the time came, they asked Tony to mix the CD part of the compilation. His expert long blends and trademark smooth style will be familiar to all those who caught the man back in the day either via his Kiss FM mastermixes or his legendary Zanzibar residency. Here he gets a whole new set of toys to play with, and delivers a master class in sequencing, mood building, and the fine art of Deejaying.

'The music is a lovely reflection of how the nights went down there, just happy, good time stuff - whether it's the more relaxed or the more banging end of the spectrum - both are represented.' says Golf Channel's Phil South. The cover of the gatefold vinyl is a collage of black and white photos Gianfranco took over the life of the restaurant which showcase the good natured vibe of the establishment - to say the least.

Jason Kincade continues 'this compilation of is a pretty accurate view of what went on there. From low-slung fuzzed out sleaze, slow and sexy party grinders to anthemic 120bpm club monsters there is something for all moods to reflect the eclectic shenanigans that went on in that now hallowed space. They're about to roll down the shutters! Get in!'.

Various (edits By Kbe) - Balearic Blah 006

Another quality Blah Blah vinyl has arrived full of Balearic beauties. "Fun Games" is a killer - a nice KBE extended edit of the impossible-to-find 80s original. With vocals and production sounding almost like a Sade track, lush keys, the exact right amount of marimbas and Spanish guitar , this is essential for any true collector of 80ties mediterranean. Next is "Run For Fun", one of those secret bar/warm up weapons from the forgotten Ibiza era that hits all th e right notes, with a Compass Point Studio vibe, cosmic keys, smooth bass, reggae influenced drums plus added new guitars and production from KBE. "Chak Hahn" is an afro jazzy cosmic spaced out journey - pounding Tony Allen-like drums, jamming funky moog keys, a catchy female "La La " joining to make the perfect beach boogie. To round things off, comes some pure sunset material in that Cafe del Mar early 90ties / late 80ties style. "Blue Nile" has the feel of a forgotten Jose Padilla classic - Spanish and rhythmic guitars combine in a riff that is repeated perfectly, creating a soundscape for drifting off into the sunset Pat Metheny style. One for the true Balearic connoisseurs available on vinyl only - no digital. Strictly limited.

Various (edits By Kbe) - Balearic Blah 007

The land of Blah Blah delivers once again for the Balearic brigade - three new very classy edits all done by KBE. "Compass Woman" is a great edit of a track recorded in Compass Point Studios in Bahamas with the masters Sly & Robbie on drums and bass and the inimitable Wally Badarou on keys all topped with that world-famous harshly soulful male vocal. This was massive all over Europe in the early 80ties incl. Scandinavia, Ibiza and a firm favorite of Italians Loda and Baldelli - here it's extended with newly added guitars for your listening pleasure. Flip over for "Great Times" an obscure, very hard to find, almost orgasmic Spanish female cover version of the Chic classic layered up with newly added rhythm guitars by KBE, cowbells, slick piano, all combined with powerful modern sounding drums - guaranteed to make people smile and a floor filler if played at the right time in any club. Lastly, "Sexomatic", originally released as a 7' currently changing hands for big money, is an Italian bump with just the right amount of Mediterranean female vocals, floaty synths, funky keys and ultimately a unique song. A pure quality track that KBE felt deserved an extended edit, this has been on many DJs' playlists and getting attention in various edits and dubs. More essential Blah Blah vinyl - don't miss!

Editors Kutz - Vol 3

Editors Kutz

Vol 3

12inchEDITORSKUTZ003
Editors Kutz
13.02.2014

Editor's Kutz is back with a killer four-tracker, this time focusing on chillin' disco vibes. Sea viewing with relaxing and nostalgic mood is the basic theme.

Starting things off with the Italian funk & afrodisco stallion d.j Roberto Lodola, who's recruited by the label for remixing his own "Marimba Do Mar" track since 1986. "Feeling Of The Sun" is full of original percussion by George Aghedo and a crispy rolling beat, stunning synths, rhodes and wonderful, carefree vocals by Antonia Coda. Next we have Alien Disco Sugar, hailing from Samos, the beautiful and sun-drenched Greek Island. "Sea Delights" is a mid-tempo chillin' rework on a track that we all love by William Pitt. Extra keyboards and bass chords make this rework so live and vivid, as Alien Disco Sugar enjoys his cruising on the Aegean Sea.

Flip it for another tip by VinylAddicted, who's so keen on unearthing forgotten gems and reworking them with tenderness. This Balearic rework on a rare track since late 70s hosts some extra percussion by Roberto Lodola, while nice lyrics and a slo-mo beatline, accompanied by the sax and the female vocals will definitely take you by surprise. Leaving the Mediterranean to go north, where Disco Tech, based in Stockholm, closes this EP with an indulging Cool Breeze coming from the Baltic Sea. A careful and elegant retouch on the maxi version of Jeremy Spencer Band's homonymous track. Nothing better than a little bit of Fleetwood Mac to accomplish this 3rd "Editor's Kutz" mission!

The Galleria (aka Morgan Geist) - Calling Card/mezzanine

The Galleria is a large indoor shopping mall with an a full arcade and food court. Shopping floors are color-coded and accessible from glass elevators and interconnected walkways. Escalators are temporarily out of order and our anchor store has gone out of business. Strawberry lip gloss is on sale. These are your sticky years.

The Galleria is a new project from Morgan Geist (Storm Queen, Metro Area) that ripples with echoes of the indigenous music of long-gone New Jersey malls and NYC radio stations: bombastic freestyle, club dubs, razor-edits and bubblegum-pop R&B. The debut release, Calling Card/Mezzanine, features vocals from Jessy Lanza, whose debut album on Hyperdub, Pull My Hair Back, was a shortlisted nominee for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize. Each title features a dancefloor-friendly dub with plenty of jump-cuts for the forward-thinking nostalgic.

Bappi Lahiri & Salma Agha - Kasam Paida Karnewale Ki (lp)

Ouh, groove it, baby! Bappi Lahiri is a very busy composer, conductor and music director for the so called 'Bollywood' scene, the Indian factory of dreams from where the one or another movie even reached our European shores and generated a cult following. 'Kasam paida karnewale ki' is a 1984 movie I have never heard about before but the soundtrack comes as colorful and interesting as Indian 80s pop-disco-funk can be. Even Bappi Lahiri finally surrendered to electronic music but still puts it into a rather traditional 70s soul / funk context with some Indian flavors added. A melody here, native tongue lyrics sung in a way that mixed up pop and Indian folk music, a sound effect like typical Indian string sections there and the result is a beautiful ethno pop album with an utterly haunting groove which originates from the funk, soul and disco elements a dancefloor queen like Donna Summer would kill for. There are always enough regular instruments such as guitars, sitars, trumpets and bass guitar to keep a fan of handmade music interested. The vocal melodies have a lascivious expression at times just as it was typical for the late 70s black disco music which gets fused with classical Indian harmonies to create a captivating atmosphere. Bappi Lahiri knows fairly well how to work out his tunes to make them everlasting hits. This record is certainly all about dancing and will turn even the most lame living room sit in into a steaming hot sexadelic dance party if you throw this onto your turntable and crank it up. The music is vivid and emanates an enormous vitality that will drag you from your chair and makes you float across the floor like a dervish. Lush arrangements of strings, brass, guitar, synthesizers and vocals capture your soul and enwrap your spirit. If you could imagine Patrick Hernandez ('Born to be alive') would go Indian and still appreciate it, this would be yours for sure. It is exotic to my ears but the catchiness of the melodies and song structures and the furious but still professional execution though makes it an utter joy to listen and move to even for an old rock aficionado like me. Wild and wonderful.

Pablo & Shoey - The Re-jigs Volume 1

Pablo&Shoey

The Re-jigs Volume 1

12inchFFP001RP
15.04.2015

Fatty Fatty Phonographics is a new label out of Dublin determined to dispense with lazy loop button editing and get back to the original point - to make great songs work better on the dancefloor .

Pablo is a member of the Downtownsounds crew, who have been keeping the fair capital safe for house and disco shimmy-ing for over a decade now, while Shoey is the resident production whizz from External Sounds, a Drogheda based collective with the same spirit and soul...

First on the chopping block is the rambunctious disco-funk of The Emotions' 'I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love'. Produced by Earth, Wind and Fire's Maurice White and legendary arranger Charles Stepney, this one plays heavily on the gospel flavoured vocal breakdown and heavy funk horns, which Andy Weatherall et al chewed a chunk off of for the Primal Scream classic 'Loaded'.
Following Dead Rose Music Company's recent hypno-house floor-smasher 'Just A Bitter Love', the lads take the Gladys Knight belter 'Taste Of Bitter Love' and put the song right back at the centre, playing around with the luscious piano line and keening strings, even creating a dreamy new 2 step outro for sweet and smooth mixing out...

Last but not least we have legendary funky drummer Bernard Purdie and his 1972 cut 'Good Livin' Good Lovin'. It's a heavy funk bomb with a psychedelic wah-wah led intro and an absolutely killer piano line, not to mention some wise words from Bill Cosby on the jazz, lifted from obscuro American cult comedy show 'The Simpsons'.

Various - Future Discos Vol. 9 - A Disco Love Affair (2cd)

:Future Disco continues its long standing and sort after series by reaching volume 9 - ' A Disco Love Affair'. Having gained global notoriety over eight volumes not forgetting the sister series Poolside Sounds, Future Disco boasts an established global fanbase following the carefully crafted tracklist for every album.

'A Disco Love Affair' pays homage to the long-standing love affair between dance music and disco. Kindred spirits, they have kept the sparks of the underground alive through almost five decades. Released on Valentine's Day, Future Disco's latest edition honours seven years and nine episodes experience exploring the limits of what defines the genre and how it exists in the present moment.

The opening moments capture a snippet of Nicky Siano, the original resident at New York's Studio 54 who went on to create The Gallery, a successor to David Mancuso's Loft series of parties. This bow to humble beginnings, when disco shaped the birth of electronic music in the 80s, paints a framework for the producers of today who are still using disco as their foundation.

Here Future Disco do what they do best and elect the freshest talents, from Fatima Yamaha, I Robots and HNNY, who each shaped the musical landscape of 2015, to prevailing remixers Joshua James and Tuff City Kids. The resurrection of some of disco's original pioneers, New Order is celebrated alongside unreleased material from Hess Is More, Boxed In, Needwant imprint's own talent Ashworth, and an original Future Disco edit from Flash Atkins, all packaged within a mixed and unmixed version.

It's a compelling ride that undoubtedly proves disco how lives on, despite the bumps along the way.

25.01.2016

There is no doubt Peter Brown's P&P is one hell of an eclectic label. Enter Jesse Gould's Powerful protest song 'Out of Work', a song that could have easily fit better at the Harlem Cultural Festival in the summer of '69 than at a Disco in '77. A regular at David Mancuso's Loft, this fast-paced funk jam borderlines disco. However more Sly Stone than Disco Inferno, the realities of Harlem were all here on display. Produced and arranged by Billy Nichols, 'Out of Work' showcases the qualities that made him famous - Funky Rhythms rooted from his time at Motown, Big Strings and special attention to the Drum Section. Another incredibly rare record, another incredible opportunity to own what the Disco black market has priced for more than a Day's Work minimum wage.

Marta Acuna - Dance Dance Dance

This monster Underground Disco classic was produced by the legendary Patrick Adams and it's considered to be one of his best and rarest pressings. Released in 1977 on P&P Records, 'Dance Dance Dance' was ahead of its time laying ground for the signature sound he'd soon to be known for on productions for the likes of Inner Life, Loleatta Holloway, Bumblebee Unlimited, and Musique. This Classic release combines a smooth blend of Latin rhythms, an infectious bass line and Arp keyboards that create a dubbed out cosmic vibe, while Marta Acuna's dreamy vocals glide in and out. This is the perfect tune to close out an evening of hot summer dancing, a NYC Disco Classic. This Highly sought after and extremely rare 12' has seen other lives as well, heavily sampled in Underground House tracks like Alex Neri's 'Planet Funk' and covered by Joey Negro and his Sunburst Band. 'Absolute disco classic right here... out on P&P back in 1977. One of our favorites...a record everyone needs to hear.' Bicep

Timothy Blake - Squiggles Ep

Following 2013's fantastical 'Heat Crime', Tim further explores his unique take on house music with two original tracks which make stylistic nods to the past but lead us elatedly to a place of uncommon and personal vision. On the A side we have 'Squiggles', a late night piece of tentacled whimsy. A joyful frolic in a fishy stream under the stars and in the Japanese garden of your soul. 'Like U Want Me 2' is a missive from yearning loins to a beloved recipient, "whilst we're both on earth in these fleshy suits". An unminced declaration of desire from one luminous blue erotic body to another. On the B side we found just the creature to flip Tim's script and deliver a singular rework. The Mole burrows further than we ever expected, dragging 'Squiggles' into unexplored territory deep within his underground tunnel network and having his way with it for the length of a short film. Timothy Blake is an Irish born electronic musician based in Berlin. After some years building up his studio and knowledge in the early to mid 90s, Tim began attempting to emulate the prevalent disco sounds of late 90s dance music, inadvertently developing his own sound. Later absorbing the atmospheric and stylistic influence of filmmakers such as Robert Altman, Nicolas Roeg and Brian de Palma, Tim felt inspired to make music reflecting similar moods and themes. By the mid 2000s Tim was a regular feature on Dublin's live music and DJ circuit. Following projects that didn't come to fruition with early influences Derrick May and Mad Mike Banks, he beat a retreat from the clubbing scene and concentrated on his compositions. However a later move to Berlin has seen Tim find a voice with releases on Kleine Reise Records, Dirt Crew, Fatty Fatty Phonographics and Lectric Sands NY.

Coober Pedy University Band Aka Tornado Wallace - Moon Plain Ep (12") Repress

Little do people know that Coober Pedy is an opal rich town buried deep within the red and arid outback of South Australia. Lewie Day (aka Tornado Wallace) and Tom Moore may be from Melbourne, but the duo make up the Coober Pedy University Band, coining the term "Krautback" to describe this Moon Plain EP. Drawing upon italo synths and mid-tempo Balearica as inspiration, the first release comes in 10" form via Soft Rocks' Kinfolk label. The reverb washed Australian crooner Chet Faker appears on the title track "Moon Plain" alongside heavy struck piano chords, while "Sentenced Beyond The Seas" is a flow of groggy atmospheres and downtempo beats. "Oblong" is the the EPs stand out italo track with short bass arpeggios a highlight, while Soft Rocks "Acperience" mix of "Moon Plain" takes on an acidic and space western theme.

Deckard - To Rack & Ruin Vol 9

Speeding through the neon sky and hunting replicants everywhere...Deckard makes his debut on To Rack & Ruin.

First up is Sean Lives which, stomps along with enough guitar twangs and honky tonk piano chords that would make this cut sound right at home at a James Brown after party. A catchy vocal throughout before an almighty breakdown that sneaks in one of the finest saxophone solos heard since that guy in The Lostboys.

On Rustic Rage Deckard joins Paper Recordings' debauched debonair of disco Flash Atkins taking in a lesser known cut from "The Man In Black" himself. We start things off with a solid 4/4 kick alongside a guitar loop that build n builds n builds like a dance floor locomotive albeit one that's draped with squelchy synths & popping percussion before dropping with vocals that's guaranteed to cause hand blisters from a serious clap along...

Sadar Bahar - Tik Tok / At The Concert

After a furious release by Atlantis' best kept secret Cuttlefish & Asparagus entitled Hang On In There, KALAKUTA SOUL RECORDS meticulously puts a new twelve together you'd want to throw your hands upon immediately. Always referring to Sadar Bahar as one of the most influential cats to their work, the crew behind the label hasn't stopped crying ever since they received the tracks. And although we've pinched them a couple of times, they still can't seem to believe this really is coming true. Can you Now it surely isn't the first time the world's coolest cat has released a couple of his rare edits. But you surely are still dancing and sweating to his unforgettable Chicken Wing Edits series and have been wondering, what this guy's been doing. Well, Soul in The Hole's true soul and Dj's Dj Sadar Bahar has been travelling around the world giving everybody a serious lesson in soul music that he calls Disco Beatdown. Some brothers would also name Sadar's ceremonies 'exorcism", which pretty much leads us back to the tracks released on this fantastic sounding 12 Disco Single.

Star Blazers - Danger Zone - Kon's In The Zone Mix "7"

After waiting 3 long years, and finally getting the multi track session to do a b side, I'm proud to present The Star Blazers cover version of the masterpiece " danger zone " which was originally done my Midnight Express. Many should be familiar with Detroit producer Recloose, while back in New Zealand he assembled a band who called them selves Star Blazers ( an ode to the 70s legendary japanimation series and a big hit on Boston's tv38.. Indeed Recloose is from Massachusetts ) and they recorded a few cover tunes. Upon hearing this I knew it was special. While most modern covers miss the mark, purely emulating and sounding like a cheap imitation, leaving me wanting to just play the original... They flip the tempo, swing and vibe, straight up owning this and making it their own.

Aurra - Body Rock Cd

The second half of previously unreleased Aurra recordings produced by Slave-founding member Steve Washington will be released on December 11th.
The Album was recorded in 1983/84 just after the Salsoul years with his wife Sheila who had just finished writing and touring with The Brides Of Funkenstein.
Plans were made for it's release on Quincy Jones' newly formed Qwest Records, but legal troubles complicated it's release.
The first part of the album 'Satisfaction' was released in 2013. Body Rock represents the final chapter in the Aurra catalog.

Morris - Can We Melt The Ice

Can We Melt The Ice is one of those mystery records that collectors love so dearly. Very little is known about it, other than that it appeared on Plush Records sometime around 1982 or '83. It was written and produced by Chicago producer Morris J Williams, whose sweet vocal provides a vocal point for the track's sensual boogie vibes - all lilting horns, subtle synthesizers and shuffling grooves. Brilliantly, this reissue from Finland's constantly on-point Traveller Records also boasts a previously unreleased longer version, which naturally extends the track's wonderful instrumentation in all the right places. Recommended.

Gay Marvine - *6* Bath House Etiquette Vol.6

More bold and brash sickness from Gay Marvine. It just gets more perverted when you think about every song from a red hanky perspective. A side = pure disco and deep funk reshaped as tools for today. B side = total cult classics re-visioned to devastate any dance floor.
A1 I Want Yr Love

See how well it fits! The classic insidious groove. This is the sound of cocaine, people. The Gay Marvine
interpretation takes the shape that another Detroiter found on his political disco classic and allows the full song to reveal itself. A dance floor treasure.

A2 Pitch Black City

Originally recorded in Bologna, Italy with the vocals added at the Power Station in NYC. Luther Vandross is not on this one. A major reshape, a real improvement! A highlight of any night.

B side

B1 Hilltop

In Detroit this was called Techno, because that's what you called Electro then. A knock them dead thunderous classic from an unappreciated uk band. This is an edit of the Bernard Sumner remix, giving it a kind of EBM / new
beat feel, before that even existed. Nice 303. Most likely the inspiration for UR 003 'The Final Frontier'. Restructured by Gay Marvine, fixing all
the off time edits, so that you can destroy the dance floor with ease.

B2 Meatin

Don't slap me, because I'm not in the mood. I'd Hate to come down to their level and become a BW. Campy classic.

Jacob Gurevitsch - Mexican Margarita

Two years ago Jacob Gurevitsch made his solo debut with 'Lovers In Paris', a sweetly melancholic single which conquered sunsets worldwide and earned a place in many quality compilations. Roll forward to 2015 and this stunning track now heads up the Danish guitarist's first album, recently released on Kenneth Bager's renowned Music For Dreams label to great acclaim, entering the itunes chart at #1 position in Denmark and already being hailed as one of the Records of the Year by Manchester's Balearic don Moonboots.
This 12" plucks two beautiful originals from the LP and and presents them on vinyl alongside two remixes from established Australian talent Len Leise and rising stars Tonovi. Side A's 'Mexican Margarita' is a truly impressive piece of guitar work with superb bongos and bass - already an essential tune for any Balearic collector - and Tonovi's heavier remix takes the track into electronic dub territory making it a firm favourite with DJs including Ibiza's Jon Sa Trinxa. Flip over for future classic 'Mapa De Soledad', a gorgeous and moving Mediterranean-flavoured gem. Len Leise's remix adds emotional keyboards, soulful strings and suddenly the track becomes almost a modern Vangelis tune. Limited vinyl - don't miss.

Velvet Season & The Hearts Of Gold - El Dorado / Limitless & Free

Gerry Rooney (Black Cock) and Joel Martin (Quiet Village) return with two strong cuts on new label Love Shot Records!
Opener "El Dorado" is a curious affair, taking loops from a long-forgotten, disco-era Spanish dance record and turning it into a rolling, late night chugger. Arguably even better is "Limitless & Free", which cuts up and rearranges a suitably obscure chunk of stoner funk-rock. Wisely, they emphasize the low-slung groove, rising strings and swirling synthesizers, occasionally utilizing select sections of the original's sleazy, come-to-bed vocal.
