Originally released in 2004 on the Rephlex label (the label co-founded by Aphex Twin), Kerrier District's debut has long since gone down as a classic album, a kaleidoscopic ride through Disco, Funk and MPC beats. The mastermind of Luke Vibert, the Cornish acid pioneer and grand exponent of mischievous electronic sounds under a variety of guises (including Plug, Wagon Christ and Amen Andrews), the Kerrier District debut has long been of print and circulation.Following 2015's successful re-entry on Hypercolour, with the critically acclaimed album '4', the label will re-master and re-issue this landmark release. Faithfully re-creating the original 3LP vinyl set, and re-issuing on CD & digital alongside a bonus disc/tracks that feature the second Kerrier District EP ('2', originally released in 2006).
With a big Kerrier revival in full swing (check the latest remix single on Hypercolour where Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, KiNK and Head High all pay homage to the man), then there's been no better time for the re-issue treatment on one of dance music's classic albums.

After releases for Discos Capablanca and Moon Glyth, Food Pyramid join Especial for a remix EP of their album-only track Oh Mercy. Updated by the inhouse team Apophenia, before being given the full italo treatment by SF's Inhalt and a true Especial twisted FX double mix by the man, the myth, Jamie Paton.

Minneapolis collective, Food Pyramid are welcomed to the label with the twisted psychedelic electronics of Oh Mercy. Taken from their Mango Sunrise album of 2012, its warped breakbeat jam-fusion has long been a secret favourite of the label, so it seemed right to present it on a unique EP.

Starting with a 2015 rework at the hands of the label's in-house production team of Apophenia, the original is extended with respect, keeping much and taking out little (the horns) so that the originals groove can ride and ride.

This is followed by a superb remix from Inhalt. After themselves appearing in the form a remix EP (EES009) it seemed now was the right time to get on board with their own take and in the process creating a pumping Italoesque classic. In the same way Timmy Regisford turned NOIA's Rules To Survive in to a mid-80s Chicago all time top 10, this remix harks to all that was good of that time, notably replaying much of the
instrumentation, while keeping it aimed squarely at today's floor. Who said Razormaid

On the flip are killer remixes from the label's main man Jamie Paton. Locked in an increasingly modular headspace, he digs deep and expansive. Premiered on the recent Beats In Space showcase, the Remix kicks far and wide, pushing club systems to the max, this yearns to be played at 7am Panorama. Sliding straight (and you'll miss it) in to the Dub, stripping it wayyy back, let the drums do the talking. Oh baby, have mercy on me.

After a brief stint as The Universal Robot Band, KLEEER enhanced their funk/disco leanings further to notable success on the Billboard Hot 100 charts from their late 70s work through to the eventual shift to electronic R&B in the 80s.

1979 saw the release of I LOVE TO DANCE (R&B #53) on Atlantic Records, which featured disco anthems 'Tonight's the Night (Good Time)' (R&B #33) and 'Keeep Your Body Workin'' (R&B #60). WINNERS (POP #140/R&B #24) boasted a more Funk oriented sound. The title track (R&B #23/DANCE #37) is a fine example of this whilst second single 'Open Your Mind' (R&B #86) is a subtler jazz inflected groove.

Kleeer entered their peak in commercial success with 1981's LICENSE TO DREAM (POP #82/R&B #15). GET TOUGH (R&B #15/DISCO #5) is a rollicking fusion of funk and dance 1982's GET READY and TASTE THE MUSIC (POP #139/R&B #31) continued the band's progressive approach to keeping the funk uptown but they were about to undergo a change in direction that would win them a whole new audience.

Kleeer would close their remarkable run with two albums produced by the legendary Eumir Deodato, fresh from his hit run as Kool & The Gang's producer. 1984's INTIMATE CONNECTION (R&B #49) and 1985's SEEEKRET (UK #96) displayed a laid-back almost entirely electronic sound that found that band in step with the mid-eighties soul sound. 'Next Time It's For Real' (R&B #79) is possibly their most understated release and continues the mid-tempo groove they continued to explore throughout their run whilst final hit 'Take Your Heart Away' (R&B #62/UK #86) boasts a wondrous quiet storm prelude before segueing into a breathless soulful groove.

BBR is very proud indeed to present this newly remastered 2CD anthology of Kleeer's catalogue with brand new interviews with Paul Crutchfield and Richard Lee housed in a super jewel case.

Stargard (Rochelle Runnels, Debra Anderson, Janice Williams) broke out in 1977 with what was their biggest hit, ' THEME SONG FROM 'WHICH WAY IS UP'', one of the disco eras most enduring anthems. The band continued releasing records with more charting singles before disbanding in 1983.

1979s The Changing of the Gard (Warner Bros) partially continues the loose party jam vibe of their first hit but with Robert Wright and Earth, Wind & Fire's Verdine White  at the production helm, the album is overall far smoother than their earlier albums. First single 'WEAR IT OUT'(R&B #43/Disco #4) is another excellent disco stomper from the band whilst 'RUNNIN FROM THE LAW' (US #61/DANCE #4) is grittier and Stargard's unapologetic funk strut is unmistakeable here.

Elsewhere '(ONCE IN A LIFETIME) DREAM COME TRUE' is an utterly affecting hushed ballad while 'TAKE ME BACK' marries disco inclinations with smooth jazz and it's all the more revelatory for it.

For many in their formative years. This connection occurs within the emancipated preserve of the college radio. Beats in Space began and perseveres in the preserve, though its reach now extends beyond campus to wider culture. As a student, Tim Sweeney began broadcasting on WNYU in 1999. Twelve years later, Sweeney created a label under the same name, preserving waveform memories permanently to wax.

BIS001-020 is a compilation surveying the first twenty Beats in Space Records releases. In keeping with the sensibility coveted by Sweeney during his time on air, it's clear what makes these releases harmonious. Theses an attitude: a little bit rude, but softened with sensitivity. There is a sense of motion narrative and duration: a dedication to crescendo, a theatricality that never yawns. An appreciation for melody, but no at the expense of propulsive percussive textures.

Israeli-born Berlin based producer and DJ Omer debuts his first release on Cocktail d'Amore with two offerings of celestial house. The title cut blends the sounds of the east with an immediately seductive atmosphere of bright melodies leaving the listener plenty of room to be transfixed through it's entirety. "Dust" dives deeper to reveal a more melancholic mood built on a symphony of lush pads and swirling metallic percussion. On remix duties are the wonderfully quirky Estonian duo Ajukaja & Andrevski who deliver an oddball re-imagining which sends the original into outer space as it gently builds to sparkling fervor only heard on the outskirts of galaxies. Rounding out the release is Man Power with an acid tinged burner which explodes into en excitement of live percussion and pads leaving any dance floor in complete ecstasy.

a pair of druggy, spaced-out interpretations of 'Better Man', one of the more laidback outings from fast-rising rock combo Bella Figura.The trio, comprised of Justin Gartry, Mikey Cooper and Jack Morford, have gigged tirelessly since joining forces a few years back, enhancing their reputation via a series of self-released EPs notable for their heavy grooves, bluesy guitar arrangements and Gartry's gravelly, emotion-packed vocals.
Even so, their work - as atmospheric as it is - has never sounded this cosmic. Craig Bratley has previous in this regard. His solo releases for Is It Balearic, Bird Scarer and, most recently, Tsuba, tend towards the druggy, unusual and atmospheric, while his Magic Feet imprint has become renowned for its unique
blends of slo-mo wonkiness and off-kilter, early morning Balearica. He handles the poignant 'Better Man' with great care, delivering vocal and instrumental interpretations doused in delay and reverb, with occasional bursts of white noise and deep space electronics enhancing the horizontal, smacked- out mood. There are notable beats - sparse, slow and dubbed out - but these are almost drowned out by Gartry's reverb-drenched guitars and Cooper's
booming, pitched-down bassline. This is emotionally raw rock music dragged through a K-hole backwards, reappearing somewhere the other side of Jupiter.
It's a trip worth taking.

Former co-owner of Mr Peabody infamous record Store in Chicago, exquisite music connoisseur, deep dj and fresh Sounds Familiar member Mark Grusane provides the next in the series of SF 45s. Space Mountain is a funk fusion monster while in Fifth Dimension Mark shows his darker side pushing the electro/new wave envelope and even providing vocals. Once again a Sounds Familiar winner and another demonstration of Mark's rich musical palette.
Growing up in Chicago during the early 80's, Mark - with the help of his older brother - started collecting records and DJing from his pre-teens. During high school he listened to WBMX radio mixes and was producing house tracks inside empty classrooms with his friends during lunch period. By the time Mark was a young adult having music everyone knew and liked was not good enough anymore and so he entered the endless world of searching and seeking music he had yet to discover and his music habits soon reached a level deemed as obsessive. To balance his spending habit, he found himself selling music to older peers, stores and DJs in order to afford more records for himself. This finally lead him into founding Mr. Peabody Records with Mike Cole a fellow fanatic, in 2004, aiming to become a world class resource for all genres of obscure music and indeed Mr Peabody Records became a destination point for many DJ's and Music lovers worldwide and indeed they did. Sadly, the brick and mortar store closed shop in 2012. However we're lucky Mark still collects and continues to play music to dancers and clubbers around the world. His style is derived from his unique persona, many years of collecting dance music and knowing how to move people with it. Although totally capable, Mark isn't your typical cookie cutter style DJ. He has his own signature way of putting records together with a focus to play quality, obscure, heart pounding, "Make You Get Up And Move' music. Welcome to the family, Mark!

Fleewing Wax is a new label by Basel DJs Mehmet Aslan and Miajica, whose fame has spread far and wide beyond Switzerland. Fleeting WAX EP offers a neat definition of the now-familiar Basel sound - all sultry playfulness, Turkish delights and pop-not-pop.The first release from the duo contains three striking edits from the far-flung reaches of what could be considered world disco in the widest sense of the word. Sporting a healthy love for Italian cantautori, obscure oriental pop and a generous helping of freakiness.

This new label is the natural next step for the well established booking agency, events company and sound design outlet that is Follentez. Run by by Jérôme Querré, a former club programmer in Paris, the brilliant first EP comes from Sebastien Fauvel with on point remixes from disco legends Faze Action, Pete Herbert and Stratus. Sébastien Fauvel has had a long apprenticeship in Paris, where he went to study sound in 1992. Frequenting clubs like Rex with Laurent Garnier, he soon became part of the team at Queen where he was a live percussionist playing Latin house nights. He has also DJed in Ibiza, many other places around Europe and is an accomplished producer who has put out music on numerous compilations which have featured on TV and in film many times.

Clattering drums hum alongside the chatter of birds, the trickle of rain, and the billowing of wind chimes, as Marina Price layers on her smooth, smoky vocals, creating gorgeous soundscapes.

Everything else stems from that core, that love. With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage.
Time is up is the first track here. Arpeggios shimmer and crisp simple drums hiss and fizz along, until introduction of the classic detroitian vocal and one shot filtered rhodes sample. A deftly simple combination of classic ingredients. Think 90s Inner City meets a DJ Sprinkles era Motor City Drum Ensemble.
You & Them (against the world) is all short looped disco bass and saturated afro moog. Heavy use of delay pedal, and a simple vocal refrain - 'It was you & them against the world... and we survive together'. This sounds like Afefe Iku battling it out Paperclip People era Carl Craig.

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts. WD43 welcomes Italian-Disco-Demigod, Bottin
to the roster. Bottin offers two uptempo and catchy re-edits sitting alongside a lovely dub of #1 Deejay by Hristo. On the B2, label head, Sleazy McQueen has elongated the soulful house classic, We All Need Love. 4 songs tweaked for the jazzy leaning disco set.

The Highlife World Series is a collaborative series of releases by UK-based Brian d'Souza aka Auntie Flo and Esa Williams. The first three parts are to be released in quick succession in early 2015, beginning with Cuba, followed by Kenya and finishing with Uganda. Each release features original songs produced in collaboration with local musicians. All proceeds from each release will be sent back to the respective countries in order to fund further musical production costs in years to come. We will also be seeking various ways to distribute the music in each country so the music is freely available for the musicians to use at home.
