It's been a long time coming, the debut Slow Hands EP Everything (We Are) on Wolf + Lamb Records. Yes, you read that right, this is the first EP to be released by the long time W+L artist, Slow Hands.

Known to his friends & family as Ryan Cavanagh, the native Vermonter has maintained a career as both a live musician, and DJ through a consistent release of singles and remixes for W+L, as well as Permanent Vacation, K7, and Bedrock to name a few. With Everything (We Are), Cavanagh sets out to deliver a preview of the diversity that will be expressed in the great number of songs set to be released in the coming year, and longly anticipated LP.

The organic foundation is laid early with the funk fueled Miss White. A song steered by it's live rhythm section, vocals, guitar, as well as it's elaborate arrangement. Second Fiddle, a staple in Slow Hands' recent live sets, is the very epitome of his traditional verse/chorus composition style over loose and energetic beats. The EP slows tempo with it's title ballad Everything (We Are), a display of Cavanagh's recently discovered raw vocals, and a powerfully emotional chorus, reinforced by the vocals of Dave Robertson.

Robertson, more widely known as Cameo Culture, who also acts as co-producer, and musician on this release, concludes the EP with a compelling rendition of the title song. Driving things home with a more rock inspired re-harmonization of Everything (We Are), Robertson augments what will be the theme of all forthcoming Slow Hands' releases; organics, musicianship, and diversity.

Minimal Signals is a new various artists serie that obviously turns around simple and crude synth tracks. The grand opening EP counted with the support of the Mexican Stockhaussen, the french/swiss Factice Factory (feat. Kriistal Ann), the Spanish Synths Versus Me, the italian Marcello Giordani and the mexican Werner Karloff for a 20 minutes journey of pure analog synth wave. Promo copies requests from John Talabot (whom have closed last Brunch Electronik festival with one of the included tracks), Erol Alkan, Roman Flügel, Gerd Janson, The Drifter among other big names of the dancefloor universe can be a signal about that more than probably we are in front of a instaclassic.

After a spot of chronological chaos last time out, Nado regain their numerical composure with a sumptuous four tracker from New York renaissance man Quinn Lamont Luke (Bing Ji Ling)
Loose and limber after a chakra aligning cover of Loose Ends for Phantom Island last summer, the Paqua frontman brings his linen suit and boat shoes to the good ship Nado, joining Moonboots and Boardman for a relaxed session of horizontal dancing. Taking a pleasant vacation from his trademark blue eyed soul, QLL packs up the mic and lets the music do the talking, treating us to a dreamy quartet of instrumental grooves.
'Primavera' opens the EP with a dubby drum-box bump, getting heads nodding and shoulders rolling before white funk riffs and starry eyed strumming lead us on a stroll down the coast.
After sharing a knowing glance with Paqua's 'Visitor', dreamy piano and a fuzzy guitar solo come to the fore, burning bright till long after sunset. Out of the dying embers and cicada rhythms comes the warm and comforting funk of 'Verano', a low slung disco masterpiece alive with melodic intricacy and sonic warmth - hold a loved one close and pass the joint.
The drum machine returns for B-side opener 'Ontono', keeping the pace slow and low while moody synth bass and sticky guitar dance around an emotive lead line. Drinking from the same crystal as Blue Gas and Wally Badarou, this dramatic dancer should prompt smouldering stares and bitten lips all over the club.
Quinn moves gracefully from the sultry to the sumptuous, bringing the curtain down with sublime, piano-led beauty of 'Invierno'. Meditative and melodic, this heart swelling serenade snatches the end-of-night crown from 'La Ritournelle' and wears it with pride.

Glenview Records follows up their Onur Engin album with this 8 track full length from Spanish edit sensation Rayko. Here he reworks classic disco and funk tracks from Womack & Womack, Joe Coleman, D-Train, Bill House, Final Edition and more. DJ friendly double vinyl with a full pic sleeve.

This album takes us straight to the madness filled summer dance floors. At the same time it is also true album, it is not just a collection of tracks, it has its own flow and rhythm as it moves us from song to song from the beginning to the end. Rayko sets us on the journey with Sumy's Funkin in Your Mind, real sleaze funk workout, driving beat and loopable groove is polished but, psycho nevertheless. Womack & Womack Conscious of My Conscience is very sexy track, Rayko maintains natural feel and emotion of the original yet giving it much stronger dance floor appeal with driving rhythm and dreamy vocal rearrangement. Flip over to the B-side and get ready for a very surprising choice - 1983 Italo Disco number by K.I.D. Come and Get It. It totally works, much more serious transformation was needed here and Rayko delivers perfectly. Rayko stays fairly close to the original with his rework of Joe Coleman's Get it off the Ground, it is a bit slowed down, 80s with big synths, a hypnotic groove & new killer bassline. Rayko continues with second Womack & Womack song Love Wars, this songs is completely rearranged, it is actually more of a remix than an edit. It comes with new layers, new pulsating stomping bassline, vocals are darker and way edgier. It is a gem. D Train Keep Giving Me Love is a disco house excursion, Rayko extends, blends, cuts & chops the EQ to produce essential rework of this 1983 classic for the modern dancefloor. As we get closer to the end of the album Rayko again surprises us with Bill House's You are no Better Than a Common Thief, the original is quite bluesy and touching, Rayko preserves all of the important elements of the song - sensational vocals, original guitar and rhythm section, very pretty and subtle re-edit. The album closes with 1979 Final Edition's I Can Do it (Anyway You Want), it is true indeed Rayko can serve it anyway you want, with this album Rayko clearly establishes himself as super disco producer of our time.

Robi Insinna aka Headman's Relish Recordings continues to forge in the past and brings you a collection of classic tracks reworked for today: Relish EP V including Unknown Cases, Units Dub by Headman, Gina X Red Axes version and Headman's original 2003 Dub. First up is Headman's version of Masimbabele by The Unknown Cases. The original track has been performed and recorded 25 years ago and was originally released as a 12" single by RoughTrade. Members were Cologne musicians Helmut Zerlett and Stefan Krachten (disciples and regular collaborators of the CAN musicians) and legendary African percussionist REEBOP KWAKU BAAH and it has actually been mixed at CAN STUDIO in Cologne. Masimbabele was originally regarded as "a modern form of rhythm'n'blues" in the original 1983 Rough Trade promotion info - since nobody involved had heard anything like that before....no surprise it became one of John Peel's favourite records of the early 80s and one of his most played singles in 1983. it became since an Afrobeat classic! it was also Remixed by Adrian Sherwood in 1989 for RoughTrade. As second track on the EP is Headman's unreleased High Pressure Days Dub by The Units. In 2009 the Original was release digital and on Vinyl via Relish with a remixes by Rory Phillips and Headman. The Units were a cornerstone of this unofficial movement, later called "synth punk" and which would come to define a greater west coast DIY culture combining new synthetic sounds, ranging from Nervous Gender, Screamers and Monitor, to The Blackouts. High Pressure Days is a testament to the loneliness and urgency of the times, and one of synthpunk's greatest anthems while at the same time becoming a dancefloor classic among dj's like Danielle Baldelli. Next up is the Red Axes remix of their all time favorite track No G.D.X. by Gina X. They say it was something very special for them, as the track means a lot to them. Headman's 2003 Dub is the final track on the EP and it was released originally by Hell's Gigolo records. Released in autumn 1979, No G.D.M. slowly took hold with disparate audiences worldwide, and remains a classic to this day. Sometimes the man-machine is a woman... or is it It's hard to tell in the twilight world of Gina X Performance ithe collaboration of singer/lyricist Gina Kikoine and producer/multi-instrumentalist Zeus B. Heldiconfounded the norms. Their songs blur genders and sexual preferences; rouge covers stubble and women morph into men. No G.D.M." became a staple of Rusty Egan's playlist at Blitz, the epicentre of London's fashionable nightclub scene. Groundbreaking in its choice of sounds, subject matter and visual presentation, Gina X Performance anticipated the betterknown achievements of countless peers: the sleazy electro-noir of Soft Cell; the androgynous stance of Annie Lennox and Grace Jones & Laurie Anderson's marriage of electronic pop with performance art. The entire "electroclash" movement at the turn of the 21st century owed a debt to GXP with Miss Kittin & The Hacker topping the list and it also anticipated the UK synthpop boom of Human League and Depeche Mode by a couple of years

A tri-continental modern funk teamup with TUG BOATMEN joining MEGADON to rerub 2 of his deepest cuts. The A-side is a funky boogie classic with a CYLON-esque robotic vocal. B/w "DON'T ASK" a floor filling modern disco knockout-one of TZ's personal secret weapons! Two winners! Get this.

The latest chapter in the long standing relationship between Gilles Peterson and the music of Cuba sees him explore the roots of rumba through a project comprising three parts: a feature length documentary, a collection of remixes and a free sample pack. Produced in collaboration with rum maker Havana Club - creator of the Havana Cultura platform to promote contemporary Cuban culture - this is another episode in a six-year relationship that's already given vital exposure to different aspects of Cuba's thriving music culture through the Havana Cultura album series. Peterson worked with the island's esteemed rumberos to record authoritative versions of the three rhythms as well as discuss what differing meanings and origins are attached to each.

The recordings of rumba's three key styles were handed to a crop of producers working in the orbit of the most interesting corners of club music, allowing for an exciting, global re-interpretation of rumba's roots. The result is Havana Club Rumba Sessions: a collection of remixes that's as varied as you'd expect from a roster of producers spread across locales as wide as South London to Japan and beyond. Berlin-based Max Graef & Glenn Astro deliver a kickdrum-sprung workout that pays testament to the free and easy hip hop beat making in a style that's long been their m.o. whilst Motor City Drum Ensemble's four-to-the-floor arrangement loops things up into a hypnotic slow burn.

Following his appearances on Riviera Disco Vol. 1, 2 and 5, Bijou is back in the Bordello and ready to bring some cool to these hot summer nights. Sun countered by sea. Soothing synthlines, airy analogue tones and gentle currents characterise the two openers, Bijou calling on calming waves and peaceful percussion to begin. The Belgian producer allows the temperature to rise for 'Reine Des Plages', broad basslines and funk laden bars dancing late into the night. But those fresh breezes are ever present, closing in the beach bronzed beauty of 'La Marée'.

Release 2 on Red Rack'ems new sample heavy 'from the vaults' vinyl only label Nettles comes from Australian B Boy house-head Jules Inkswel. Nettles is all about releasing the CDR specials that Red Rack'em has been dropping in his club sets over the years and he first heard the tracks on this release in 2012 when staying in Melbourne with Jules while on tour in Australia.
Music was shared, drunken fights ensued and donuts were thrown in faces. The tracks lay forgotten for quite a while in a folder called 'Inkswel Stuff' until recently when Rack'em began to play them out and the response was totally off the chain.
So in the spirit of getting the good onto the streets again - here's Inxxxwels Sativa Edits Vol. 1! Lipstick N Blushin is the audio encapsulation of Desperately Seeking Susan being trapped in an elevator with Mesopotamia era B52s sound tracked with strictly analogue gear. Proper NYC coked out doe eyed schlocky vibes right here. Bed Sores is some old school Enjoy era disco rap being chopped up for maximum dancefloor potential.
Alicia Love James is a big room boogie soul banger which never fails to rock the spot. For Taki 183 is a street tuff trip back in time. Heavy beats and rhymes combine to give dancefloor some shine.

Original Re-press of the Original Italo-Disco Hit Recorded in 1983 by 18-year-old producer Roberto Ferrante and voiced by otherwise unknown Douglas Roop, a soldier who was working at the south Europe NATO headquarters in Naples, ìCome on Closerî was such a classic of early Chicago house that original pressings sell on eBay for upwards of $200. It was sampled on Neon Indianís ìPsychic Chasms,î giving it another small resurgence in popularity online.

Established by Daniele 'Shield' Contrini in 2006, Rebirth Records has surely grown up over the years into one of the most respected Italian independent labels. A series of high impact releases alongside a focused and strong promotional work, have helped to enhance the reputation and credibility of Rebirth.
The label owner Shield remembers 'The first release was a record that had been in my bag for years. I just wondered why not resurfacing it again with a new remix and a vocal version and that's what I did. And If 'Finest Dream' feat. Alison Limerick was ready, remixed by Silicone Soul'. Shield continues 'The philosophy behind the label finds its roots in the past, building a link between the soul of a song and the warmth of a melody then combining them with a contemporary sound. I'm always looking for something timeless, something that I can imagine to still listen to in 20 or 40 years time. Talking about the celebratory compilation Shield says 'Who better than Larry Heard could do it for us He delivered a mix that embodies the soul and the different facets of the label. Larry, as well as having remixed three songs for the label, is among the producers who had written the history of a musical genre and one of the names who most have influenced our music. The cover of the CD is designed by Emil Schult, who has created some special images for the occasion. Visiting him in his studio in Dusseldorf and breathing his Kraftwerk experience has been an unforgettable moment. I'm really pleased they both agreed to work on this project'.
