Generator by Rodion incorporates hippie dance grooves, middle eastern vibes, Simon & Garfunkel-esque vocals, lisergic synth licks, and future kraut atmospheres. Tracks like Bococa Hills and Phobos Berl have a rolling cosmic groove, whilst Allee Der Kosmonauten and Run-Out head for the dance floor. Colazione and Riposa! have a more icy ambient feel, whilst Alta Marea and Gamma make good use of Rodion's supreme collection of analogue hardware, producing a pair of synth drive grooves.

Following the recent acclaimed first edition of AOR Global Sounds compilation, DJ and producer Charles Maurice's dug even deeper through international lost productions to create a sequel for this series.

The result is AOR Global Sounds Vol.2, a new compilation made of 8 forgotten and rare tracks produced between 1975 and 1983 in all parts of the globe.

At the end of the 70s, many artists over the world were deeply influenced by AOR's famous stars such as Steely Dan and his classic Aja LP, looking to reach the same attention to sound production and details, and this specific Westcoast style mixing together Pop-Rock standards, with Soul (sometime Disco) and Jazz influences.

From Renée Geyer Band in Australia, and Boban Petrovic in Ex-Yugoslavia, to Carol Ray Band in France, and Greg Yoder in Hawaï, Charles Maurice and Favorite Recordings built another hot selection of lost tracks clearly infused with this special AOR touch, in a Soulful and Disco way.

Fully remastered from originals with the same attention to sound quality than in first edition, AOR Global Sounds Vol.2 (1975-1983, selected by Charles Maurice) is presented by Favorite Recordings in a deluxe vinyl version, housed in a tip-on jacket and as CD.

Perhaps it's something in the water or just plain vodka, we really have no idea but one thing is for sure - there's something special about those Moscow disco heads. They sure know how to find a perfect beat and re-edit it to perfection. After Lay-Far it's now time for Arsenii to step into the Basic Fingers arena.

Both sides on this 12 are filled with Jazz-Funk and library infused disco at its best. 'Allegria' sounds like Bob James is jamming with The Headhunters and on the flip 'Turbo' with its generous use of synthesizers almost has an outer space theme.

This guy has been grabbing a lot of influential people's attention recently and it is not surprising on this kind of devastating form.
The man can produce and has a fine taste in music to match. Pulling on influences from funk, disco and house music, he turns out 3 top class jams with super hi fidelity that are destined to set any dance floor on fire.

The wonderful Black Ops sub label from the SLEAZYBEATS people wraps up, which has been a monumentally successful series by anyone's standards, with an EP from the notorious sample bandits, The Popular People's Front
Over a decade after launching a distinctive series whose ambitions amounted to no less than condensing thirty years of black club music into a beautifully packaged, portable collage of sonic sample goodness, the SB crew tracked them down & appealed to their anarchic, nihilistic nature by offering them the final release on the label. The PPF project itself came to a close at release No. 10, so the synchronicity was strong
For no other reason than a desire to celebrate dancefloor abandon and strive to soundtrack the purest forms of hedonism, ambiguous sexuality and a transcendent celebration of outsider culture, not to mention a green light to shamelessly exploit, steal and otherwise pilfer their source material, they said yes.
After trying, with no small amount of success to transcend the basic 'edit' through the PPF series, the band have again worked their collage approach into three truly magical cuts

Katastrofa EP is an Ex-Yu Edits release which transforms forgotten gems from the former Yugoslavia. Russian Valique and Serbian veteran selector Funky Junkie are behind this project. Opener "Katastrofa" offers a delicious blend of heavy, synth-laden '80s boogie, punchy afrobeat horns and bold, chant-a-long vocals, while the slower, more chugging "Frka" is an Adriatic delight - all lazy, sun-kissed synths, sugary-sweet vocals and sloppy kisses. As for closer "Yugoslavia" , it sounds like a disco-house anthem in waiting, as the duo adds bumpin' beats to a rising, horn-heavy chunk of starlight disco.

Fkclub Aka Marc Lapeyre did it again with the Illuminati EP on Astrolab.

Mixing modern synth and old school analog sounds to create a dirty, catchy and powerful track : Illuminati.

Volta is new wav-ish with its dark synth bass and voice, like Depeche Mode on magic mushrooms.

Pilooski's remix of Illuminati brings the track to a point of dissonance and trippy ARP, where the man show us one more time what a flair he has for it.

Homesick #5 is the unplanned result of a tremendously funky DJ set by General Ludd (Mister Saturday Night / Rubadub) in Hong Kong. Three tracks have been chosen by the Homesick team to reflect the intense disco inferno atmosphere we all felt on that unforgettable night.

A planned reissue for many years, the untimely passing of Steve Coe shortly after the label's rerelease of The Ganges Orchestra's The Dream put everything on hold. However, time moves and so now seems a fitting time to revisit this "world dance" classic with fonder hearts. Long cherished, it is a reminder of Steve's enduring studio mastery. After the initial success of his work with Sheila Chandra in Monsoon, Steve expanded his musical scope, working on an Indipop compilation as clubs looked to Eastern flavours to add a new dimension for the dancefloor. Teaming up with tabla disciple turned teacher, Jhalib (Millar), as well as long time collaborator Martin Smith, it's hard to imagine Mysteries was first heard in 1982. Hailed as an all time classic, it's enduring appeal can be seen in how it became a staple for the likes of Danielle Baldelli at the infamous Cosmic club and beyond to become an original Evissa "balearic" secret play for Weatherall & co in those fateful summers of love and beyond. Remastered especially for this release, the orchestral Eastern melody and mid-tempo chugging rhythms and vocals marry in perfection with a dub bassline of Wobble inspired depth. This alone would be enough, however, the original is at last backed with the 1988 remix. Aimed at the then burgening New Beat scene, a subtle straightening kick is added, but it's the unmistakable vocals of Sheila Chandra that finally brings this release together in melodic harmony. On the newest Star Time release, Kon reworks "The Bottle". Most should be familiar with this song but this gets the standard Kon treatment, an intro that builds dropping into The Bottle's infamous chords bass line breakdowns and more.
For the flipside Kon remixes the rework for more of a housier vibe, chopping some vocal sections and some guitar ala George Benson style.

Riotvan no. 10 - what a nice jubilee! And a perfect catalogue number to take a look at our back catalogue up to now and at the same time look ahead at the things we might cast in vinyl at some point in the future. Riotvan isn't just a reflection, but also an inherent part and impulse in the electronic music scene of Leipzig. Gathering the inner circle of the Riotvan cosmos on one record for the first time, thus, seemed like a very logical step. So RVN010 is the first so-called Various Artists in our roster. At the same time it marks the beginning of a new series, which will regularly lead our close and new friends on the field from now on.

Once again, The French duet composed of Zdar & Boombass has managed to gather the crème de la crème on its project. Ibi' for Ibiza and fornia' for California, or the perfect cocktail between the fervor of the Spanish Island's dancefloors and the incredible freshness of the Californian mentality. Pharell Williams is present on the album, as well as a totally transformed Cat Power. The great Mike D (Beastie Boys), and the over-playful guitarist Matthieu Chedid, are also some of the prestigious names we can mention. The singles Ibifornia", Go Up", Action' and The Missing' are already available as well as the EP of remixes Action", that have given us many good reasons to wait for the upcoming opus. and Nick The Record it's now the turn of another of the worlds most respected record collectors to put
together their selection. This time it's long time Z Records album co-compiler Sean P.
Alongside Joey Negro, Sean P has been responsible for some killer selections for their Soul of Disco and
Supafunkanova series, all of which feature tracks from Sean's vast record collection. He has been collecting
records since his early years, producing and releasing his own edits way before they became the norm and is
widely recognized as one of the foremost fountains of musical knowledge so to say he is a stalwart of the
underground music scene is well deserved.
For his UTI album he goes even deeper and much more across the board with tracks taking in afro, soul, funk,
disco, Brit Funk, dub and jazz with many of the tracks costing hundreds if you were able to find the originals.

Rudy (aka Robin Lee from Faze Action) makes a welcome return on FAR, taking in the atmosphere of sunnier climes. The title tracks opening cascades and swirling synths fall into an easy Balearic groove, with singing melodies, exotic marimbas, a chugging synth bass and production echoing a mix of Compass Point, Grace Jones et all on holiday in Europe, whilst setting the scene for the EP. The 2nd track is introduced by hypnotic tones against analog synth arpeggios and haunting synth solos, invoking the "Sky Goddess". Back down to earth on the flip side is an invitation to sail down the "Shimmering Coast", with its relaxed guitar groove and keyboard flourishes all underpinned by a stunning 80s sounding bass line. Dropping anchor at "Fortune Lagoon", we are treated to some of Rudy's personally designed analog keyboard sounds, which mange to challenge yet retain tropical warmth. Finally live chorus bass introduces us to "Body Wave" which manages to fuse easy French Disco with jazzy Fender Rhodes hooks. By Nature is a reflection of white washed houses, palm trees, refreshing coastal beaches and yacht parties. Don't forget your sunglasses and tanning oil!

Disko Romeiko, as the title may suggest is a stomping, campfire lit and admittedly unlikely culture clash of Greek and Norwegian music. A vocoder laced, up-tempo workout of Norse Disco technique and traditional Greek melodies that is a surefire dancefloor delight. Remixes come from Rune collaborator in chief, Oyvind Blikstad, who pitches the vocoder vox front and centre and strips back the groove while amping up the drama.

Quite a package

Together Melbourne pair Amin Payne and Sean Deans form APSD, and they debut in quite impressive form with this Digital Dust album for Hot Shot Sounds. Inkswel and Benny Badge's label has developed into the prime source for what they call "drum machine soul music" and APSD are a perfect fit. Some 11 tracks deep, Digital Dust features contributions from the voice of Fat Freddy's Drop himself, Joe Dukie, as well as Miles Bonny, Cazeaux OSLO, Silent Jay and more. Yet it's Deans and Payne's innate mastery of a glistening brand of funk across various tempos which shines through on this album.

2016 Repress, comes with the original artwork. Long time 154-compadre Aroy Dee, known for releases on Rush Hour (together with the M>O>S collective), comes with the goods on the immaculate NWAQ-imprint. Two bass-heavy pieces of euphoria bringing back the good old days of smaller towns, over-anxious smoke machines, lousy cocktails and smiling shirts. Oh, and girls with perm, tracksuits galore and getting down with the Pina Colada Magic Tour. We had the moves, the style, the action and the pussy, and we glance back at it with a slight touch of melancholia.. Thanks Mr. Dee, for bringing it all back.

Remastered reissue featuring three fantastic hard-to-find classic rump shakers from Hamilton Bohannon. Bohannon was one of the key forces in disco in the seventies and this is him at his best - his instantly recognisable sound is pure uncut boogie mixing riffing guitars, bad-ass funky bass and pounding drum tracks. First up is the super-rare long 12' version of 'Me & The Gang' a superbly funky track popular with everyone from Tony Humphries to Carl Craig with its great chunky beats & a killer piano groove later sampled by Paul Johnson for his hit 'Get Get Down', followed by 'The Groove I Feel' - a monstrously good floor-filling gem unearthed from his '76 album 'Dance Your Ass Off'. On the flip you get the awesome full 12.45 minute version of 'Maybe You Can Dance' another slamming disco-funk stomper only ever available as an elusive 1977 12' promo. Quality stuff!

In 2007, renowned French producer Julien Jabre tracked down the American gospel singer Phyliss McKoy Joubert on MySpace. Joubert was already a cult figure for house aficionados thanks to "Stand on the Word", a song she wrote and performed with her "Celestial Choir" in 1982 that became a staple of the club scene in New York. It resurfaced as a mysterious bootleg in 2000. Julien, who'd fallen in love with the song, was eager to remix and officialy rerelease it. When he finally reached out to Phyliss, she explained the multitrack tape had been lost. The only thing to do was rerecording it-along with 10 other tracks. Today on French label Elias, Julien and The Joubert Singers are releasing "Stand on the Word" in its original and unique 1982 version (mistakenly nammed after Larry Levan) and 3 brand new mixes including a fresh Dimitri From Paris remix. That's how the Good Lord works!
