Another stone cold NY club jam from the archives of the legendary SAM records label.
'Feel alright' does exactly as the title suggests! Pure early 80's electronic Disco joy for packed, sweaty dance-floors. Not much is known about Komiko, an undercover studio outfit that featured guest vocals from Carol Williams, Tracey Weber & Vicky D and was produced by the criminally underrated Darryl Payne (who manned the boards for Sinnamon, Sharon Redd, Carol Williams, NV & many more) but it's okay, as this - their sole release, more than makes up for it! A true Boogie classic indeed 'Feel alright' was a huge club record that got spin from the Garage to the streets of London.
If you're into that sparse, electronic and funky early 80's Boogie / electro Disco sound then you won't be disappointed with this one. A guaranteed floor-filler of the highest calibre! NYC's legendary West End record label has contributed a fair few classics to the disco cannon and continues to influence dance music today with it's forward looking releases. 'When you touch me' is no exception, recorded and released in the golden year of 1979 and featuring the breathy, sensual vocals of a young Tanaa Gardner who had previously worked as a backing vocalist for numerous other projects until the label released her (other) stone cold solo classic 'Work that body' the same year on 12".
Both cuts featured on her self titled debut LP and boasted the combined production and studio talents of Kenton Nix, Bob Blank and of course - Larry Levan. Now, that's a serious line-up to have behind the boards (& in the clubs!) and of course 'When you touch me' was a classic with it's slow, elongated intro that calls to mind a sleazier version of Donna Summer's 'Love hangover' before launching into a full-on disco assault that you won't forget in a hurry! Yes, the record surprises you, Tanaa leads us into a false sense of a 'slow jam' and then - Boom - We're off!
Backed with the incredible instrumental version the 12" is repressed here in it's original 1979 glory, an essential classic that has stood the test of time for the last 30+ years & is now available again, remastered & repressed for 2017 in conjunction with West End Records, NYC.

The recordings for the album took place on the 19 and 20 October 1972 at Streeterville Studios , Chicago, with the largest Arkestra line-up Sun Ra had yet taken into a studio session. The date was produced by Impulse! and Riverside veteran Ed Michel and , for the first time, the Arkestra was recorded in quadraphonic sound.
Of the two releases eventually prepared from the session, Space Is The Place initially stole the limelight, becoming one of the Arkestra's most celebrated records. Discipline 27-II, by contrast, would remain a somewhat mysterious occult twin. Although it was one of the few Saturn releases to feature a full colour cover , the album featured slight differences to the master, cover and labels on a series of different pressings. The album opens with 'Pan-Afro', a chugging, skittering post-bop excursion in 6/4 , featuring a solo by John Gilmore followed by the dirgelike 'Discipline 8' and the smoky, avant-blues classic 'Neptune', blessed by a scrawling Marshall Allen solo. Perhaps the album's main event is a stately performance of 'Discipline 27-II' , launching the listener into the deep poetics of the astroblack mythos. Echoed closely by June Tyson, and then by the rest of the Space Ethnic Voices, Ra moves from an explanation of his mission and a reproach to the people of Earth, before offering incantations to the angel realm. 'We got some news for you,' he advises wryly: 'the world ended three thousand years ago.'
We are all stranded on 'the other side of the end of time' , in a world that already ended three millennia back , at the end of the Egyptian New Kingdom. It's after the end of the world!
This first official reissue of Discipline 27-II was prepared in conjunction with Art Yard and Sun Ra LLC. The album is restored from the original master tapes and features complete original artwork and new sleeve notes by Francis Gooding.

After a slow start to the season Rothmans are back with their second release of 2016 and who else could this record be dedicated to than 'The Godfather of Total Football' Johan Cruyff, RIP. Another great name gone from football but never to be forgotten , a fitting tribute to the Flying Dutchman. The record itself comes from 'Dawn Again' . Not much is known about this producer other than apparently he is Australian but lives in New York and throws parties in Brooklyn. The EP itself is quite honestly one of the best things we have heard all year. No remixes this time (which is the usual format on Rothmans) just 4 pulsating underground juggernaughts , all original Dawn Again material. The First track 'Colored Pens' hit us straight away with a style that seems to have been lifted staight out of a LOTI record, this is something we have no complaints with!. This is followed on the A-side by 'The Italian' which is a slowed down chugger that does serious damage in the last few minutes. The B-side gives us a lushous smooth dance track called Plain of Jars, and the record is finished off with a real Kruyff Turn in 'Lavender' , a total curve ball filled with bass and breaks that remids us something of the remix Eddie c pulled off on Roth10. All in all something completely different from the last Rothmans records, but we are used to this by now as their season starts to unfold and really get going!!

After his recently, well acclaimed Balearic adventures as 'Jane In Palma', DON FROTH makes a welcome return to the WNCL fold. He comes out fighting with the bass and bleep heavy 'HR22', nicely juxtaposed with the equally quirky but altogether more soulful sounds on 'Joint Loose'.Flip to the B side for more jump up adventures with "DOCs" and, by popular demand, his previously bite-sized cut 'A Broad Range' gets extended into a full on acid squelch 'Widescreen Mix' to close the show.

Disco Town U-key "Do The Right Thing" puts a neo soul re twist on the title track by Japan's hot producer Yuki Monolog.
The EP contains both "Instrumental" and "Raw Vocal" mixes of down tempo, funk groover "Losing Streak" and a crossover into a more raw form of Tom's funk comes by way of the guitar driven and funky keys of "Live it Up".

Hannulelauri have lain silent for more than half a decade, the Finnish duo seeming to have disappeared into musical memory. But thankfully this is not the case. Resurrected, the pair return with a quartet of space inspired disco from their vaults. Starting off with the warming plinks of 'Earth', the duo then dazzle with the laser show of 'Crossing'. The flip keeps the goodness flowing. 'Blinds' strips back basslines to let bright bars and strings shine before the playful whimsy of 'Dream' closes. Tracks from a decade ago and still sounding as fresh as ever.

Lucas Koprowski aka "His Dirty Secrets" was born and raised in Poland, today he resides in beautiful Key West, Florida. Lucas began his career in music whilst attending the Music Academy in Poland, graduating with his masters in Classic Violin.

Constantly searching for new techniques to expand his musical repertoire, he began taking recording studio classes, mastering software and analog instruments. Eventually he designed the sounds that he later applied to his music, first, with hip-hop, then with nu-disco, which gave the original artists more recognition and independence.

Winning the competition for the best mix in South Florida gave him a chance to play a set in one of the best underground clubs in America, the Electric Pickle. In 2016, he published his first EP, a compilation of his disco edits and house music with Midnight Riot in London. The single ended up in at #1 for several weeks on the Juno Disco Charts and gave him the opportunity to release the vinyl with another UK label, Masterworks, positively reviewed in Mixmag magazine and more.


Masterworks Music kicks off it's third year in fine fashion with His Dirty Secrets and the "Girlfriends Revenge EP." Don't let the titles fool you, the only thing dirty about this EP are the grooves. which are about as filthy as a quaalude-fueled brothel on Sunday morning. Low slung vibes permeate both sides of this deadly, wax affair and HDS wastes no time getting things cooking with opener, "All The Way." A looped bass riff keeps the pace for close to seven minutes while horn stabs and jangly guitars bounce around next to soulful chants. "Fantom (African Woman)" comes up next with a percussive stomp and vocals courtesy of Nigeria's own funk king. Flip it over for "Floatin'" where a familiar, Ashford & Simpson groove gets some heavy scalpel work and updated key melodies to a beautiful effect. Once the stings hit about half-way through, you too will believe in the restorative power of love, truly gorgeous. Wrapping us up is "Prelude," a hip-shaking rework of an absolute classic. perfect for the wind-up or wind-down.the choice is yours!

From the tropics comes Whiskey Disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius
from latent disco perpetrators. It's loosely connected to Sleazy McQueen and his assorted cohorts. WD39 You Get By is the
second outing from Rabo & Snob, the Tel-Aviv based duo who previously surprised and delighted on Whiskey Disco #32; 3
chart-topping songs that brought this duo into the disco limelight. The fundamental goal of modern disco is to ride the groove
and make folks move. R&S have an uncanny ability to distill music to this point by weaving new textures over old and creating
instant classics. You Get By, Believe and Together carry this torch with subtle nods to our inner disco hippy, signaling themes
of peace, love and boogie. The title song has been re-touched by Love Dance. LD have tweaked the original vocals for a
headier combination, aimed at the dawn patrol.

Soul Clap step up to the fabric compilation series with an eclectic selection to loosen up the dancefloor. With a style that's distinctively their own, they carve hip hop, funk, soul and disco into a modern house music sound. The Boston raised and NYC based DJ and production duo reach a decade of releases in 2017 and fabric 93 takes the baton from 2016's self-titled artist album and their 2015 EP with seminal funk legend George Clinton.

Soul Clap have aimed to showcase their many styles into the 70+ minutes of the mix. fabric 93 draws on electronic music that's futuristic, but still funky as hell - exploring the ideas behind the surge of new synthy, funk-influenced music coming out. The spirit of house is represented from the soulful sounds of Ancient Deep, Ken Gill and Daev Martin, the voice of Life On Planets' vocalist Phil Celeste, to the afro styles of Sol Power All-Stars and Maajo, to the classic samples of Barbara Tucker, Indian Ocean and Storm & Herman

The ring master's voice booms through the arena's speakers. "Ladies and Vagabonds. Round Three just kicked off and both teams seem bent on wrapping this up with brute force. The Good Guys seem to be cornering their malevolent adversaries there, but wait! a swift jab to the jaw and Team Decent hits the canvas" Rising talent Tell (Beat-x-Changers, Banoffee Pies) from Paris handles the opening play for the Good Guys on the third missive of the fledgling Quartet Series imprint. Tell seems to confirm Paris is rapidly reclaiming its former status as a hotbed for raw and moody house music by offering up a delectable blend of lavish chords, distorted sounds and melancholic vocals. Darko Kustura (Pole Jam, What's in the Box) throws in some additional punches for the Good Guys. The Croation beatsmith might not be the most prolific but made a name for himself with an amazing ep on Legendary Sound Research under his Teleskop moniker and treats the crowd to a wobbling groovy baseline and sugary sweet chords. Being Bad can be a good thing sometimes as well. The dark side has cookies, after all. Mancunian Loz Goddard (Dirt Crew, Outplay, Razor-n-Tape) steps out of his comfort zone and delivers a sonic uppercut with a mad piece of swinging acid. Accompanying him on the team is our Hungarian BAL 5000 (SPIEL) who flexes his acid muscle to disorientate and a dubby bass to sedate. The acid is his, but he's willing to share. All in all we'll have a very interesting fight ahead of us. DING DING!

JaX DaX returns with another EP of dark and epic Rave-Techno on the Magic Waves label.
