The way that STAR CREATURE is unearthing the Japanese disco heat, some may wonder if they are "connected" Doubt it but one thing for sure, TROPICAL ECHOES has blown up in the up-n-coming Disco town of Boston & they're feeling the influence of Beantown fav's like SAUCY LADY, KON & SOUL CLAP.

Black Pepper from Guyanese artists Yoruba Singers. Amazing 1984 version of a track of the same name released in 1975. Super rare original 12" reissued for the first time by Left Ear Records.

On a fishing trip two years ago, the two main guys behind Africaine 808: D Leyers and Nomad - went to a tackle shop to buy some creepy crawlies (saltwater worms), not knowing that they were about to make a life changing discovery. In front of the shop a blind man was jammming on a little electronic organ, stomping his feet, singing, growling and basically making a scene.
The boys were quite impressed with the fella, who introduced himself as 'Blind Double D'. They offered to bring him home and record him. He turned the offer down, but offered instead that they could record him on the spot in front of the tackle shop - if they bought him a bottle of good Bourbon.
He explained that he would never set foot into a studio again in his life: he was sick of music production and the music industry in general, and that he just wanted this bottle of Bourbon and to be left alone. The boys got him the bottle, and recorded Blind D.D. on the spot with a tape recorder they borrowed from the tackle shop. Unfortunately, the tape was stored in one of the tackle boxes over the trip, and some of the creepy crawlies crawled into the tape and stank it all up. This added some extra funk to the recording. With Dirk and Nomad's usual studio trickery and production skills, they created the two versions of this very very funky, creepy, stanky track.We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do. Label owner TonyAdams in full swing with 'Estou Livre' which translates to (I Am Free) sure to make you feel free on any dance floor. Daniel T gets psychedelic with intoxicating vocals and percussions. Get lost in these world rhythms. Brazilian artist 'Joutro Mundo' sends us this disco chugging classic 'Nao Force' with gleaming shining vocals and a four on the flour.

Here we have the first release on Husten. Husten is a new label from Apiento (aka Paul Byrne) from Test Pressing.
'The Orange Place' by Apiento & Co was originally released on World Unknown and from there became a favourite with everyone from Todd Terje and Andrew Weatherall and the Balearic crowd. Apiento asked Wolf Mu¨ller to have a play with the track and here we are.
Wolf Mu¨ller is from Du¨sseldorf. He made his name as a DJ at the infamous Salon Des Amateurs and from there as a producer for labels like Themes For Great Cities and collaborator with the likes of Young Marco as Young Wolf.

Fulgeance & DJ Scientist are back with more dope material from their beat laboratory. Last year's debut album 'The Soviet Tape' featured their beat-fuelled take on funk, soul and jazz grooves. For the first release on the newly-established Excursions imprint, 'A Soviet Disco Excursion' follows up with three amazing edits strictly for the dancefloor.

Fulgeance takes on Charauntsy (Sorceress), a relatively unknown female band from Belorussia transforming it into a low slung, pure soulful disco flute funk groove that is a guaranteed DJ sureshot. Latvian singer Mirdza Zivere is next with an edit of her classic cosmic disco track "Vienmer but" - a track made famous by the group Modo.

On side B, Scientist edited/remixed Tatyana Kochergina's "Igray, Skripka, Igray (Play Violin Play)" which delivers some Philly and Italo disco flavours - belying it's Soviet-era Ukraine roots to devastating dancefloor effect! This vinyl only release is the first in a series of edits from the London based label.

Spring 2017 - No More Pop returns with their most complicated project. To capture an rework the disco masterpiece Kérdés Önmagamhoz. The story of a womam, looking back to her innocent youth. While Flemming Dalum takes the discoid elements and creates a driving early electro italo floor killer, Keen K decides to take us on a spiritual journey of synth cuteness to Japan. This time, also for the first time, Roland Faber is part of the Team - he goes the instrumental dub way, which turns out to be a beautiful artwork of coexistent melodies!

Uber's latest offering is a sublime 5 track ep from French producer Shelter. Sailing On A Black sea is a drifting piece of ambient electronica. Late night stargazing on the deck with the waves gently lapping on the shore. Sad Beach continues with the layered textures with a little more of a percussive feel. through the Desert Land is shimmering mesmerising journey through the dunes with loose congas soft guitars and a hypnotic Jews Harp. Seaport theme continues the coastal vibrations but with a touch of bounce and uplifting choral vocal stabs and louche pads. Finally Water Plain closes the journey with kalimbas and xylophonic melodies and the contining theme of phosphoescent seas and soothing synth sounds. A very accopmlished slice of beach bar balearica destined for sunsets around the med for years to come.

Last in the series of the ever popular Mellow Mellow Right On label, featuring two more dance floor soul classics.

The Disconet vaults once again strike gold with 4 more tracks of exclusive edits by the Disconet team from the early 80's.

We kick off with a fantastic extended version of D.C. La Rue's seminal "Cathedrals"... this epic 11 minute version builds and builds and you'll soon be signing along by the end! Next up Time Bandits funk bomb "Live It Up" is sure to rock any discerning dancefloor.

On the flip we have two extended edits of electro-b-boy gems from the early 80's... Man Parrish's "Hip Hop Bebop" is given an extended intro - that really rocks the drums! Two Sisters "High Noon" still sounds fresh as a daisy and straddles the disco/electro boundaries in fine fashion.

Following on from Volumes 1-3, Volumes 4, 5 & 6 contain more unique remixes from the Disconet vaults. 'Volume 5' kicks off with Bohannon's 'Lets Start The Dance' which gives extra oompth to the percussion freak out. Imagination's 'Just An Illusion' is chopped to shred's with a number of other tracks to create something completely unique in 'Streetmix'. On the flip Bounce's little known 'Strut Your Tennis Style' and A Taste Of Honey's chart topper 'Boogie Oogie Oogie' are also given the Disconet Remix treatment.

The Disconet Greatest Hits series continues at a pace with number 7! Up first we have the original Disconet version of Globe & The Whiz Kid's 'Play That Beat', which was the first ever outing of 'Lesson 1 - The Payoff' which pioneered the whole sampling movement. Up next we have the heavy hitting dancefloor Kat Mandu's 'The Break', which has a true carnival feel! On the flip we have the Disconet version of Graffitti's blissful 'Feeling Love' which hit in 1979, and the Moroder inspired 'Dancer Dance' by Pussyfoot.

There are many ways to move forward as an artist. You can reinvent yourself, keep track of fashions, or try bold new things. Tom Trago has spent the best part of 10 years pushing his sound in impressive new directions. Yet on his new album, the well-regarded Amsterdam-based producer has done things slightly differently. This time round, his influences come from much closer to home, and he has admitted to being inspired by the dancefloor-focused style with which he made his name.

Trago is an old hand at this kind of thing. Back in 2009, his debut album, Voyage Direct, impressed with its warm, disco-centric blends of full-throttle deep house and boogie-influenced synthesizer funk. He cast his net wider on 2011's Iris, choosing to work with a wide variety of international collaborators on an album that laid bare his myriad of musical influences.

On the Light Fantastic, he's decided to 'step back to move forwards' with a warm, involving set that puts the simple pleasures of the best dancefloor moments at its heart.

'I tried to go a bit back towards the style I was doing on Voyage Direct, so dancefloor beats with deeper impact,' Trago admits. 'I was trying to male tracks that work on the dancefloor, but also move your heart.'

In some ways, The Light Fantastic is Trago in 'back to basics' mode. Partly inspired by his ever-increasing travels around the world to DJ, it melds together a range of influences - deep house, vintage synthesizers, classic boogie, disco, Chicago jack, acid house, and even a dash of full-throttle rave revivalism on the raw funk of 'The Elite' - on a set that sounds like it was painted in vivid colours by an artist at the top of his game.

'I'm like a professor in a lab, trying to make little ideas work,' Trago enthuses, warming to the theme. 'The tracks are all there in my head, like a puzzle, and I have to make all the pieces fit together.'

The 'back to basics' theme extended to his choice of collaborators. Whereas Iris was notable for featuring an impressive cast list of international singers, musicians and producers, The Light Fantastic is more of a homegrown affair. While plenty of people lent a hand during the recording process, they were trusted locals from the Dutch electronic music scene, rather than outsiders.

'This time, I thought 'whoever walks in the studio can get involved',' he says. 'If they walked in, they could sing, play some synths or do some mixing. A lot of people came to hang out and ended up lending a hand. It's a much more fun way of working than sending your track to somebody across the other side of the World.'

There are many collaborations on The Light Fantastic, but listen out for contributions from Steffi, Ben Westbeech, 'studio neighbour' San Proper, Makam, vocalist Holly Wood and, most surprisingly, a local club owner who just happened to swing by the studio. 'Using my friends was a big part of the process,' Trago admits. 'One of the points of the album was using people who were close to home, part of the family almost.'

It's an approach that definitely paid dividends. Certainly, this celebration of Amsterdam's blossoming electronic music scene adds a little extra frisson of excitement to The Light Fantastic's impressive vibrancy.

By the time the rush-inducing positivity of 'The Wrong Right' gives way to the mutant alien funk of album closer 'Desire', you'll be ready to listen to it all over again. That's the thing with The Light Fantastic - it's a trip you'll want to take again and again.

Lucretio returns to crime city disco with a solo Ep containing exactly what he does best, slamming, no-nonsense house music! The EP includes a remix from Marieu with his own trademarked wall-of-sound style. Oh yes!
