Hard Work is the first release on Industria, Robi Insinna's brand new project label.

Back in 2001 Robi Insinna founded the seminal Relish label in direct response to a then- dominant sound in club music. Its catalogue is as vast as it is varied and foreshadowing the music he'd go on to make himself under Headman/Manhead. Fast forward to 2018 and after more than a decade he's on the move again launching new Project label, Industria with 'not quite an album, not quite an EP, Hard Work. Robi felt there was no reason to split projects the way he did with his aliases and as such the debut will be released under Robi's own name.

Industria will be focused more on vinyl releases, but not solely vinyl. The project will encompass all area's of Robi's work and ties together elements of his art and visual design projects.

Merging Robi's disco leanings with an opiate smooth, stoned groove the title track Hard Work opens proceedings and heads immediately for the dancefloor dragging its hushed vocals and skewed guitar line kicking and screaming with it.
The dub rolls in next further stretching and twisting the guitar and giving the rhythm more space to swing. It most of all draws from the sense of outsider-disco fun, with the sound of stuttering percussion, a wry smile, and a knowing wink running throughout.

Du¨sseldorf Krautrockers Die Wilde Jagd take over remix duties on the third track of the A side and cast Hard Work off into unfamiliar and experimental territory, using bright synth splashes, squashed vocal samples and a pulsing rhythm to wrestle the groove and growling sense of menace out of the track.

Side 2 kicks things off with Some Believe coming to life with arpeggio'd synth shapes and brutish drums. The overall feel, however, suggests considerable care and attention has been paid to make it sound this way. There's clearly an uncommon musicality at play here to make something this complex feel so simple.

The BPM drops next on The Kiss but from the offset, there's enough funk and thrust in the motorised synth line to get bodies gently grooving without the beauty getting lost in the slower loop. A dramatic bass leads and a xylophone playing a nervous but euphoric melody follows. It's glassy mallets pinging atop the warm electronics creating a fresh groove.

Closing track Oct17 rounds off the record and puts an ever more personal spin on retro analogue sounds with synths and drummachines . A razor-sharp snare fires against the bassline and what sounds like a sliced vocal loop before these elements settle into a more measured thrust with the undulating synth tones offset by funkier ingredients.

This is a record that doesn't have its eyes fixed on past glories but references all the element that made Robi's previous work so special. Hard Work sounds like it's here to freshen up 2018. It's music that leaves scorch marks and smoulders. It is the sound of our very own, very recent times.

Tenderness - A short-lived Disco project helmed by James Purdie and Skip Mahoney only released one 45 and one 12" single during their brief existence. Known for their work with Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers & Frank Hooker & Positive People and many more, this duo were undoubtedly a highly talented producer, songwriter and keyboardist combination. Originally released on RCA in 1978 'Keep On Trying' was an underground club hit. The record still packs an immense punch today, it's a mixture of tough streetwise drums and percussion and swooping dramatic strings and brass will surely hit the spot for Disco aficionados. The kind of record you can imagine causing all out pandemonium at the Garage while the scents of amyl and sweat fill your nostrils. The kind of record that would make everyone on the raised stages and podiums at the Powerhouse whoop and holler in collective joy as Frankie stylishly segues it into a punishing percussion break-down. Yep. It's THAT kind of Disco record, so rare and so coveted that even the infamous DJ Harvey put it over his knee and gave it a good editing way back when. There's been a shedload of poor imitations knocking around, dodgy Euro bootlegs etc, but this 2017 repress is from the MASTER TAPES (Yes, we can prove it) and is fully, 100% LEGIT in every way. 'Keep On Trying' - now available again, released in conjunction with RCA. Back on the streets. Same as it ever was! Essential Disco heat here, buy on sight!

Alien Alien from Rome better known as Rodion and Hugo Sanchez, return to Slow Motion for their second 12 'Humana'. Backed up with a dub version of the title track and second track 'Armani' 'Humana' arrives fully formed on your favourite Italian dance label. It is with great pleasure that we at Giallo Disco invite the one and only Danny Wolfers AKA Legowelt AKA the maestro Franz Falckenhaus to our prestigious ranks. The obscure, previously CDR only side project Franz Falckenhaus has stood out for many of us as one of Mr Wolfer's most accomplished works. Full on VHS grained Cold War paranoia. Like if Fulci directed a Bond movie starring Udo Keir and Edwige Fenech. Shades of Fabio Frizzi, Minimal Synth and Aphex Twin, all combine for this cinematic masterpiece. Culled from the three CDs originally released on Strange Life Records, it is with immense pride that we provide this collection for the first time on vinyl, lovingly remastered with exceptional new art by the one and only Eric A. Organic Analogue may be best known for its deep-diving techno and house and star-gazing electro, but on this latest transmission it digs into its roots in 1980s club music by way of the supremely talented Croza.Florence-based Adrien F Costes makes his first solo outing here with tracks lifted from his treasure trove of home-made, boogie-influenced beats. The sounds may tap up a direct line to the 80s, but there's a distinctly modernist slant to the heads-down groove that Costes cooks up.
Italian producer Ad Bourke also makes a rare appearance to remix "Night Heat". His version plays out like a hazy dream sequence injected with a little Italo strut, rounding this record out as a celebration of the deep-seated influences that guide Organic Analogue.

John Daly is without a doubt one of the most influential artists of deep Dub-House. The Irish man's music has an unique and truly original trademark sound. With these two tracks he proves once again his exceptional quality and makes no secret about his influence, real Chicago and Detroit House in a fresh and timeless outfit with his special twist. Already championed in sets by great DJs such as Laurent Garnier and Antal to name just a few.

The first release on Misadventures imprint delivers three tracks that are sure to move you where it matters. Haners works his magic and the outcome is class.

The King Sporty reissue series continues with the lesser known, but no less worthy, Rock Attack. This first time release of the song under the King Sporty name - having previously only been released as by the vocalist in The Ex Tras, Johnny Griffin - brings in to focus the breadth of music, numerous alias and versions used by Noel Williams on his Konduko label.

When compiling the series, numerous DJs and collectors suggested that the dubby instrumental track No Wonder, found on King Sporty & The Ex Tra's sole album, Extra Funky, should be included on a loud 12" pressing. What many did not know, however, is that it had already appeared as the flip to what is a vocal version, Rock Attack.

Released under the name J Griffin, the song appeared on Konduko and its sister label Tashamba, with all the hallmarks of a King Sporty production. An incessant, reggae "picking" guitar solo is matched with freaky freestyle synth interplay, with Griffin's rap-vocal matching the rhythm and electro-funk bass stabs, working around the repeated phrasing to create a groove that could swing for days.

Recorded, as always, at Miami Sound Studios, with writing, arranging and production credits to Noel William's, the recording was the early incarnation of King Sporty & The Ex Tras. It's stripped-back version, No Wonder, sees Griffin's vocals reduced, dropping in and out of the mix with over dubbing to measure that makes the inclusion of what is affectively vocal and dub, in its rightful place as an Ex Tras song complete.

This is backed with another specially crated Discomix, this time done in fine style by discoid forefathers, Faze Action. The Lee brothers (Robin and Simon) have worked closely behind the scenes with Emotional Rescue since it's inception, with Robin often providing invaluable remastering support- from Bob Chance's Wild It's Broken (ERC001) to this King Sporty series - combined with the fact it was Simon who suggested the idea of putting Rock Attack and No Wonder together for this release. It seemed therefore, only right that as they are giving up a long held, secret play, that they should be let loose to create a long form vocal / dub reversion.

Merging the main vocal interplay of Rock Attack with the dub of No Wonder, while deceptively removing the stop / start nature of the original arrangement, as Faze Action they bring all their production experience to bare, sending the results to the echo chamber for a reinterpretation that really lets the fun happen as a true Discomix should.

Niemoc is a young trio from Zielona Góra on western border of Poland. Their debut EP came out on a Polish boutique vinyl label Father And Son Records And Tapes in 2016. A two-tracker Mikrofale (eng. microwaves) blends influences from wave and shoegaze with dancefloor oriented disco-not-disco.

The material has been first released digitally in May 2017 via another Polish imprint - Brennnessel and now is available on vinyl as a collabo release with MOST Records. For the physical release, the EP gained two versions prepared by MOST associated artists Eltron & Hatti Vatti. Eltron's 'Dysko-Miks' of Trynidad, Tobago is a straight-to-the-dancefloor approach with strengthen drum break and funky arpeggio. For Wyspy Chlodne, Eltron worked together with Hatti Vatti which resulted with a dubby hybrid.

Since the release is an unusual cooperation of two Warsaw-based labels and multiple artists, it's scheduled to hit the stores around Record Store Day.

Last autumn the long-awaited debut 'Colour' by Pete Josef saw its release on Sonar Kollektiv. Now the first 12inch with four fantastic remixes arrives (the digital release comes even with six of them). The remix by British duo LV for 'Hope' is the perfect kick-off and whets one's appetite for more. Their sensuous rework accommodates Josef's voice immaculately and lets the bassline vibrate as gracefully as a treetop in the vernal wind.
Appropriately another duo, this one from Montreal, delivers an ultra smooth remix for 'Spring At Last': The Black 80's fortify herewith their claim to be the next hot shit. Also a name to watch out for over the next few months is the one by Fabian Dikoff. Everything he learned by his mentor Andre Lodemann is translated in his work into an incredible, chameleonic vision of house music. To be heard on his remix for 'Colour' and its dub version. Another remix for 'Colour' comes all the way out of the prosperous Vancouver scene by the Potatohead People. The 'Lights Off' as well as the 'Lights On' remix are both gentle RnB with the emphasis on the snare and on the lovey-dovey synth melody. All in all, exactly the sort of remixes not only Pete Josef was wishing for, but also we as the listeners, to tune into this summer's groove.

Fireplays (also spelled Fireplais' on second single) was the moniker chosen in 1981 by italian producer Franco Pagliaccia foran instant-band project composed by him and a few other musicians.
Allein' b/w Hormone' was released in mid-1982, and as can be clearly heard, both tracks clearly show the mutation disco as a genre, started having at the very beginning of the 80s in Europe: ablend of electro disco, along with new-wavish elements and some classic era-blueprint sonic elements: synth driven melodies, filtered vocodered choruses, pads, swirling cosmic sounds, cowbells, all topped by a powerful male voice that will give genuineconnoisseurs an exact Zeitgeist, along with assured goosebumps.

Hyenah, has, over the last few years helped forge strong ties between the deep house mecca of Johannesburg and the cutting edge electronic scene in Europe. With a handful of influential and pivotal releases and remixes on a few key labels (Objektivity, Drumpoet, Poker Flat, Toytonics) Hyenah has established himself as a major talent to follow. With his residency and label night Rise at Berlin institution Watergate going from strength to strength, a busy touring schedule taking in Ibiza, Angola, Asia and the U.S, we're very pleased Hyenah still found time to get into the studio so we can present you with the next instalment; The Usuthu EP. Lead track Usuthu featuring the vocals of B'utiza opens the release in fine style with crisp, percussive beats laying the foundation for the precision synths and trademark Hyenah Afro vibes. Those who loved The Wish, Tale Of The Dirt and The Idea will love this worthy follow up! Next up is a second original entitled Phases featuring the hypnotic tones of Nonku, a much deeper affair but with no less energy and atmosphere. Just a more heads down groove for the warm ups and wind downs, Nonku's wonderful vocal elements adding the perfect soulful touch. Flipping over we have a wonderful remix from the inimitable Mr Raoul K. The Ivory Coast native now residing in Berlin has continually wowed us here at Freerange with his Boabab and Mule Musiq releases. With his collaborative release alongside Manoo just about to drop on Innervisions (including a killer Dixon edit!), we're excited to bring you an epic Mr Raoul K remix of title track Usuthu. Setting the mood with lush strings and a beautifully paced, beatless intro, Raoul K slowly introduces the beats and keyboard parts, layering up the elements and building the energy in the process, resulting in a very special, dynamic version that will connect on a deep level with all who experience it on the dance floor.

Repping one of the United States' oldest and most beautiful cities, St Augustine Florida, Ancient Deep are Little Bill and Dorian The Percussionist. Their music is no stranger to Soul Clap's DJ sets and after some careful A&Ring and development we are very proud to present their "Hard To Fall EP" on Soul Clap Records. Opening up the record is the title track "Hard To Fall" featuring the vocalist Cry No Mas. Its a deep and gentle rub thats smooth as butter! "Le Freq ft Gia Scola" flips rhythm into an swung out groove that feels both deep and tribal, perfect for casting spells or just expressing yourself through movement. Then last but certainly not least is the true dance floor work out of the record called "Arizona Heart". This cut is a deep bomb and detonates like one each time its dropped, take a listen and you're sure to understand.

'From a lost Australian electronic soul gem, to a cult classic: Shahara-Ja's 'I'm An Arabian Knight' has gained much momentum since it's 2017 reissue, so much so that the Egyptian Lover reached out to the label proclaiming he'd do a remix. The electro innovator who the original release appears to be highly inspired by seemed like a perfect fit for this sleazy late Night groover. The result is 3 fresh mixes using elements of the original session tapes and the perfect touch of the Egyptian Lover's signature 808'

BLACK BONES return, and it's no surprise they're 3 for 3, as another back-breaking digging session has unearthed some sacred remains, ready for modern dancefloor re-animation !
Kicking off with a peak-time, synth heavy, symphonic Disco damager, before moving into dense undergrowth for a spot of hip-bone shaking first world anthropology

On the flip an immaculately dubbed Colon examination ends with a carnivalesque payoff, while they wrap things up with a rib-tickling dubwise depth charge !

Jocelyn Brown should need no introduction at this stage, one of the US's most respected vocalists famed for bringing the gospel edge into contemporary R&B and soul music. Brown was the voice behind the celebrated Disco and Boogie outfit Inner Life, the focus of this 'Stars of Salsoul' volume. Cutting 2 LP's for the label in the early 1980's, Inner Life came strong with club hit after hit, working with the top producers, mixers, arrangers and studios of the day the group were gaining cult status with their records becoming the taste of the dancefloors at the Garage, the Loft, the Warehouse and everywhere and anywhere else in-between! It's no surprise then, that these records are still coveted by music lovers and DJ's today, classic status bestowed upon this most soulful of catalogues.

Featured here are those hits, in their full unedited 12" glory. Listen to the classics as nature intended, you won't regret it.

On the B side, Lord Funk takes on Black Les Grues De Nantes' from Victorius, turning it into a jazzy workout with slap-bass, chopped up vocals and dusty vinyl crackles giving it a classy 90s feel. And rounding out the selection is New York DJ and producer P-Sol who applies his midtempo skills to Law and Theory' from label boss Jay Airness, creating an atmospheric groove with some real funk and jazz flourishes.
