Marius Circus - Had No Clue

Marius Circus is back on his In The Garden imprint mid-June with 'Had No Clue', accompanied by remixes from Matt Karmil and Anton Klint.Norwegian producer and DJ Marius Circus has been steadily building a name for himself via support from the likes of Prins Thomas and his Full Pupp imprint and of course the steadily growing following he's built for his very own In The Garden imprint which has gained support from Nu-Disco luminaries like Ewan Peason, Andrew Weatherall and Pete Herbert, a telling sign of the quality embodied in this Oslo based artists material.Title-track 'Had No Clue' leads here, a sun-drenched slice of dropped tempo house fuelled by bubbling arps, choppy resonant synth licks, airy atmospherics and soft bumpy rhythms. Next up hot off the back of his Ben UFO and The Black Madonna backed Studio Barnhus single Matt Karmil steps up to stamp his unique mark on 'Had No Clue', stripping things back to a soft, ethereal feel led by fluttering synth swells, sweeping pads and rumbling low end.The original of 'Tyst' opens the B-Side with chugging square-wave bass, dynamically evolving twinkling arpeggios and crunchy drums before Anton Klint's remix rounds out the package, edging into darker realms via howling reverb burst, eerily unfolding atmospherics and the original gritty bass at its core.Marius Circus' 'Had No Clue' EP is out on In The Garden 15th June 2018.

Omer Coleman JR. - Lovin

After previously releasing Starship Commander Woooo Woooo's - Mastership LP, Left Ear Records have continued excavating the archives of the artist more formally known as Omer Coleman Jr. The result is two handpicked mid 80's instrumentals salvaged from the original master tapes, as well as an extended vocal edit on the flip for good measure.
.
After laying his alter ego to rest Omer made a handful of electronic releases on his own Kansas based 'Remo' label. Of these releases Left Ear has selected their two favourite instrumentals: 'Lovin 'Babe' Sure Is Fun' and 'So Good'. 'Lovin 'Babe' Sure Is Fun' was originally released in '85 and was created to celebrate a time in America where 'the economy was good, people were happy and love was in the air', the essence of which Omer captured using his Roland 808 and 303 in what may best be described as Acid-Boogie. 'So Good' on the other hand is a sensual downtempo cut shaped with heavy-bass, telephone samples and guitar solos that conjures images of late Night Rendezvous and compromising scenarios.

SOUL CLAP feat NONA HENDRYX - Shine (This Is It) (The Ray Mang Versions)

'Shine (This Is It)' is the first single from Soul Clap's self-titled second album that features legendary vocalist Nona Hendryx. After meeting Charles and Eli when all playing at LA party institution A Club Called Rhonda this happened. Nona Hendryx is an original member of the trio Labelle who's smash single "Lady Marmalade" is a timeless classic. Her solo singles "Transformation" and "Do What You Wanna Do" from the 80's are equally prolific to her work as a back-up vocalist for a laundry list of legendary acts including Parliament-Funkadelic, Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel. There is magic contained in 'Shine (This Is It)' and the strength in Hendryx's vocal empowers our sprits and moves us on the dancefloor. Midnight Magic's Morgan Wiley delivers an outstanding keyboard solo and fellow bandmate Jason Disu teams up with Kali Rodriguez and No Regular Play's Greg Paulus to form the Soul Clap horn section. Taking the magical vocals, horns and keyboard solo from the original, Ray Mang gives it a latin house twist adding an elevating Rhodes motif, bass and battery. Presented here in three versions on 180gram vinyl.

Adonis - No Way Back

Adonis

No Way Back

7"-VinylGET761-7
GET ON DOWN
13.06.2018

By the time the Jungle Brothers rapped about it in 1988, House Music had been bumping in NYC Clubs for years. Even though the genre would go on to become a global phenomenon, House music had humble beginnings in predominantly gay and black clubs in Chicago. Musically, House Music was inspired
by the eclectic dance records played by DJs Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy at Clubs like The Warehouse' and Muzik Box'. With a growing club scene, labels like Trax Records and DJ
International played a major role in the development of the genre. Founded in 1984, Trax was an important outlet for house music in its early days, releasing many classics including "No Way
Back" by Adonis, Larry Heard's "Can You Feel It," and the first so-called house anthem in 1986, "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson. This latter tune gave a massive boost to house music,
extending recognition of the genre outside of Chicago. Adonis recorded many innovative and influential dance tracks. Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, Adonis was introduced to music at a young age. He played bass guitar with several jazz and funk bands and was eventually introduced to House music by Gary B. After listening to Jesse Saunders' "On and On", Adonis felt the drive to make better-produced music than what he had heard and began recording. Despite his formal training and lack of clubbing experience, Adonis made waves on the ancefloor when he recorded several of the best Chicago house singles of the 1980s, including "No Way Back," "Do It Properly" and "We're Rockin' Down the House." He was 19 years old when he made the dystopian classic "No Way Back," one of Chicago house music's most iconic tracks. "No Way Back" was a smash hit for the Trax label, according to some estimates, the single sold over 100,000 copies. The lyrics —"Release my soul / I've lost control / Too far gone / Ain't no way back" — seemed to perfectly encapsulate the feeling of being lost in music with no ay out. Adonis' cold, minimalist vocal delivery — no ornamentation, or obvious emotion — made "No Way Back" sound effortlessly cool, and utterly terrifying. The stripped-down track, devoid of extraneous flourishes, still
sounds ruthlessly modern.

Liquid Pegasus - Makin It hot

The mythical Liquid Pegasus returns - this time on Clandestine Boogie, firmly setting out his stall as one of the best around when it comes to modern synth boogie.
'Makin It Hot' opens up proceedings, synth stabs and squelchy basslines a plenty, married with layers of intricate melodies and a vocoder transported straight from the 80's. Matt Hughes takes on remix duties converting that squelchy bass synth into a more straight up funk bass guitar, adding shuffling high hats and weaving in a little jazz flute for added effect.
On the flip side it's prime low rider cruising courtesy of 'Sparkle´ combining a full-bodied bass, cosmic pads and woozy synth flurries to create a soundtrack perfect for late night coasting. To close out the e.p. Dave Allison adds his own sparkle to the track, upping the tempo, adding a range of hazy arps and sweeping synthesis alongside a perfectly executed bass breakdown, taking 'Sparkle' from midnight cruiser to boogie bomb.

Bill Brown & The Soul Injection - Time after Time/inst

Bill Brown and Al Hall jr met around 1971, they were both in south central L.A and shared the same apartment building, also in the same building was Doug Carn and brownstone singer billy Wilson.
These studio sessions were don't at Paramount studios Hollywood where Al Hall jr was working for producer Art Smith a&c music.
The main distributor for A&C was Accent records. So the Soul Injections very first single "Stay off the moon" was released via Accent, as was Bill Browns "Bip Bam" The group wasn't that pleased with how Accent handle the releases so Bill took it upon himself to set up his own label called Brownstone records. Many musicians were called in for studio sessions these included
Doug Carn, organ; Kirk Lightsey, keyboards; Mel Bolton,
guitars; Mel Lee, drums; Al Hall jr (trombones), Willaim 'Bill'Henderson strings.
The label was met with some confrontation from other Hollywood labels and many of the Brownstone releases were told not to hit the shops by Mafia run labels. Later around 1975 Brownstone released a track by Everyday people feat Alexis "world full of people"....A now cult soul 45 ....But wait, we at Super disco edits have unearthed the original tapes with the very first incarnation of that song and music, different lyric content and sung by Bill Brown. Not just this you get the instrumental on the b side!!

Blondes - Warmth

Warmth

R&S Records
15.08.2017

R&S proudly presents 'Warmth' the extraordinary new album from critically acclaimed New York based duo Blondes AKA Sam Haar and Zach Steinman whose ten tracks of mesmerising, ever shifting rhythmic workouts percolate alongside contemporaries such as Levon Vincent, Joey Anderson and Donato Dozzy.
A decade into their musical relationship, the duo continue to find inspiration through hardware instrumentation and improvisation. Haar and Steinmsan's intense live performances on sound systems throughout Europe and US for 2013's 'Swisher' LP and beyond traversed nightclubs, festivals, art museums and DIY spaces serving to generate a wealth of material album to be distilled into this album.
'Warmth' finds them further stripping away extraneous elements, pushing their percussive framework to the forefront. The result is lysergic techno fused with Blondes' characteristic synth-work and atmospherics.
After parting company with their previous label, the highly respected RVNG Intl. label, the duo find a natural home as part of R&S's storied alumni as they explain:
'Having released on RVNG for years, we had wanted to move in the direction of releasing on a more dance music focused label. RVNG has established itself in the world of experimental music and reissuing overlooked records from the past, and we both (RVNG and Blondes) thought it would be immensely exciting for us to release this new record with R&S'
It's fair to say that Blondes' characteristic hypnotic synth figures, pulsing club ready rhythms and gritty off-kilter sensibility have never felt as fully realised and timely as on 'Warmth'- their most significant and weighty record to date.

Marcello Giordani - Orrizonti Lp

It's been a while since Marcello Giordani last release. Now the man who powerfully relaunch the Italo sound in 2008 with the acclaimed blog Italo Deviance is back on the scene after 2 years of hard work and research into the deepest and obscure Italo sound. This 6 tracks LP travel through again into the unique sound of the early 80's Italo Disco built with spacey analog sounds, some cheesy atmospheres and a touch of primitive Trance chords. Marcello's taste is very clear and specific when we speak about Electronic Disco and this LP is totally inspired by artists like Farina/Rago, Sangy, Alexander Robotnick, Alessandro Novaga, Doris Norton and also from his experience collecting and playing this shit during the last 20 years. If you want to give a name to the style of this LP, call it 'Organic Italo'.

PRESCRIPTION PRICING AUTHORITY - SONG FOR YOU / GREEN MACHINE

The PPA duo outta London is back with another burning hot 7inch on GAMM. Just like on the first 7" they go for two rare Jazz-funk tracks where they not only rework the originals but also add their own instrumentation on top. Song For You (by Popcorn) got a real nice boogie funk feel and sounds like an early 80's production from the UK even though its actually a rare Florida production. Green Machine is Jazz-funk original by O'Donel Levy but now re-tweaked and with vintage clavinet and percussion added over the original track. Another PPA home run !!

To some of you, Fiero will need no introduction, the Colombian via New York analog synth wizard has released some of the most highly sought after proper disco music this side of 1978. Maricopa - Pastel Love Part One

We're very happy to welcome aboard new imprint Back To The Balearics

It's a label on a mission to uncover music with significance, special sounds that can make a moment out of nothing.
In an increasingly fast and disposable world the need for such moments is more important than ever.

The first release, by Belfast's MARICOPA, perfectly defines that sound. His electronic tracks blend naïve beauty with emotional depth in a sonic landscape devoid of all the usual musical clichés of dance music.
Back To The Balearics is a journey to nowhere in particular with plenty of musical stop overs on the way.

We hope you will take the trip...

DISCOTEXAS
19.06.2018

Fresh off the back of the languorous poolside disco and tropical pop of their debut album 'Shapes On Shapes' released last November, LA based duo Wild & Free return with a collection of essential remixes from label mates and influences alike by revisiting the heady disco of recent single 'Ferns and Stuff'.
Both multi-instrumentalists, singers and producers in their own right, Wild & Free duo Drew Kramer and George Cochrane came together in 2015 and have spent the past 2 years crafting a series of acclaimed EPs and remixes (for the likes of Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Panama, Gigamesh, RAC and Ben Browning of Cut/Copy) that saw them tipped by the likes of Spin, XLR8R, Indie Shuffle, Clash Magazine, Data Transmission and many more and take their live show on the road playing alongside the likes of Brooklyn's Body Language. After releasing a few solid ep's and two full lengths album's Xinobi has gained real recognition among established and well-known artists and opinion-makers, and his underground cult has amplified. What has followed is remixes, edits and reworks for artists such as Sbtrkt, The Avener, John Grant, Toro Y Moi, Nicolas Jaar, Agnes Obel, Kris Menace and Tensnake.Along with Moullinex and Mr. Mitsuhirato he gave birth to the still-growing-influent Discotexas who here lend their label mates their expert musical arrangement skills with 'Discotexas Club Mix' thrown in for good measure. And it doesn't stop there, with legendary New Yorker Justin Strauss, who has produced and mixed records and remixes for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Beyonce, La Roux and Goldfrapp contributing a 'Whatever/Whatever' mix as part of the slick and hugely influential production duo he formed with Bryan Mette.
Already noticed for his remixes and array of collaborators and with several releases under his belt (including a track on the 'Bonjour Colette' compilation), Tokyo-based Yuki Abe AKA producer/DJ Boys Get Hurt gets his inspiration from the melancholic feelings the end of summer inevitably brings about, a personal and evocative sensibility in tune with the land of the rising sun's delicate culture. Yuki expertly crafts bouncy disco-house music with sprinklings of electronica, indie, ambient, hip-hop and R&B. Here he adds a mix with a loose and joyful feel that fits the sentiments of what Wild and Free represent perfectly.

Les Yeux Orange - Togosava 12"

Allez les presales! Everybody's favourite Parisian party fiends are back, polishing up another batch of patchy pound bin finds and not-on-Discogs delights for your next summer soirée. Putting their orange-eagle eyes to good use, the LYO crew have trawled the crates of Europe and beyond for this sunkissed set, working the scalpel to the max to pack the dancefloor in arms aloft ecstasy. Our party starts with the kwaito groove of 'Avidiyo'', a killer bit of late 80's Afro-action boasting synth marimba, alien bass blasts and life affirming vocal chants. Not only is this cut moving in the ants-in-your-pants/dancing-like-a-madman sense, but its Sting-on-safari emotion and clarinet solo could bring a tear to a glass eye. Cartwheeling between aspirational jazz-funk and afro-cosmic, 'Yanga Mbiwaa' makes its way to the heart of the party like a bewildered Parisian at an Ivorian wedding. As tumbling toms rumble like thunder on the Serengeti, an oddball exotica chant encourages the nearby wildlife to shake a tail-feather to the Club Tropicana guitars and buzzing synthbass. At last you have something to keep Quantum Jump's 'Lone Ranger' company! Last but not least comes 'Autoradio', a very well mannered monsieur living the French highlife by the sea and sun of the Mediterranean coast. Effervescent Afrobeat guitars and swooning sax dance over a rolling rhythm section of buoyant bass and 80s percussion, while a spoken vocal drawls in your direction and the girls ask if you're ok. It's only when the pinging, ringing, madly modulated bass breakdown bounds through your surroundings that you'll wonder who slipped what in your drink...
