Fresh from '78: Brazilian funk lothario Marcelo's first big single (which was never out on a 45 before)- and a peak track from his debut eponymous album from the same year - gets a timely revisit from the Steven J's reissue/edit imprint Pepite. With its subtle piano striking Q&A, wild bass runs and clam-tight guitar/drum groove, Marcelo calls his way through the jam as if everything is a chorus. With its layered vocals, it's gutsy call to action for any dancefloor. Steven's edit stretches out the instrumental bars and brings out focus on the staccato vocal hook with a rising sense of momentum. Two great sides, one dope 45.

Things tend to move in circles until they are complete. Such is the case with WPH TEN-8. When FCL released their 'Cherry Pie E.P.' on Kai Alcé's NDATL label it was already decided that Kai Alcé would find a home on WPH as well. And with his absolutely stunning string of remixes of recent years in mind it made sense to ask Kai to take up remix duties for a new FCL release.

The result is a release that oozes soul all over. The original track is FCL's 'let's make a track and have great singers aka Lady Linn and Gustaph singing about house music'-moment and Kai's remix is...well...simply another amazing slice of soul from the man that can do no wrong. It's house music...as you should know it.

Stamping the passport this time round we have DJ Ric Piccolo by way of Buenos Aires, who takes lost and obscure Argentinian records and injects them with a turbo shot of discoid overload. If you've just got onboard the Passport to Paradise spaceship, don't fret- PTP13 is the perfect introduction for the aspiring cosmic voyageur. Ric Piccolo kicks off with the heady throes of 'Fuck All Nite' . You've heard it before but you can't remember where. Take the advice- this is your 3am matchmaking tool. Then head onto A2, 'Passage', where the wind whistles through tropical vines and monkeys play Moogs on the rainforest floor. TIP!
On the flip side we have '1, 2, 3..', sounding like the lost credit track to a 1980s Latin horror b-movie, where flare-clad zombies with glasses of fernet rock and sway with drunken senoritas. It could well be. Finally, B2, Venus rounds of the release in true cosmic disco style.

This time in Calypso, Aristidez takes us on journey trough the streets of Lima Peru. The Chaos and the spirituaity of this old country are noticable on all of this tracks. Rumbling percussions and vocals, harmony and rythm, darkness and light all come togeter through the use of samples to show the quality of this young up and coming producer. "Nada Nada" it's the mantra that will help you go through the morning in a grey and cloudy city. "Reyerta" represents the violence of many Latin American cities having a hard time. Evoca its the mix between the first two where peace and violence find them selves in a catarchic release of energy. Symple Symmetry brings the tempo up for their Nada Nada remix asking everyone "what happens after death".

Fleeting Wax introduces Eva Geist to their rooster - a very promising producer and live act. With a nordic feeling of nostalgia Blumareciano depicts the mediterranean sea landscape on a cloudy winter day. Soft beats, braid arpeggiators and thin out vocals build a cinematic scenario of spacious narration, a odyssey vacation thrilled by the new and encouraged by the hope to one day come back home. San Propers Remix takes Blumareciano down to a rusty dirty club and manages to combine techno with the deep vocals of Eva Geist.

Va¨stkransen Records are proud to release the debut EP of Stockholm's house savants HK. The main project of Hampus Ribbing and Kristoffer Banks, HK have garnered attention for their dynamic and unpredictable live sets. Having spent five years in the studio engineering their deep and mesmerizing grooves, the duo now surfaces with 'A Kind of Love EP', featuring three original tracks and a remix from French wunderkind and D.KO head Flabaire.

On the A-side, HK begins with the melancholic but captivating 'A Kind of Love'. The duo then goes deeper on the hypnotizing, yet dancefloor-oriented, 'Hiccup'. - Upward Bound' is a long lost, incredibly rare and very expensive classic disco era album! It combines soul, funk with and slick pop appeal into a great cocktail of grooves and melodies! This will drive you to the dancefloor and make you sing along at the same time! The lush arrangements, tight grooves and powerful soul vocals with catchy harmonies make this album an instant evergreen. I'm least surprised that the arrangements should pose a challenge to every rhythm section and that the catchy melodies instantly stick to the listener. The flashing horn arrangements are amazing! The funky bass grooves and guitar riffs weave a cocoon of sound around your soul. The sound is certainly clean but also vivid and the music feels grounded despite it's larger than life expression. The swirling backing vocals in combination with the lead singer are the icing on the cake that already consists of catchy and outstanding songs. This is more funk and soul than simple disco music. There is depth in the arrangements with awesome details as you delve deeper into each single track. You can of course groove along and just enjoy the songs as they are, but be sure to at least be on the lookout for the beautiful ornaments in each song. This music will surely move you, it makes it impossible sit still . In this album you'll find a wide range of funky music, from Slow groovers to fast paced tunes, you will get them all. Some with a deep atmosphere, some energetic, all of them memorable with arrangements that keep your attention going even with the 50th spin on your turntable. To my opinion this album is an unmissable gem of the disco era at it's peak! The original album retails at $ 400 going up, rarely a decent copy could surfaces on the market once a year. So here's a chance for you to grab an affordable copy of this well-deserved and long overdue reissue on vinyl and be enchanted!

London producer-duo, Wayward, are back after blowing us away with their marvelous "Good Afternoon Mr Magpie" EP. Wayward have a knack for bridging the gap between the dancefloor and the more soulful side of electronic music, with support across the radio airwaves from the likes of Giles Peterson on BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, KCRW, Beats In Space and Rinse FM.
Wayward's most recent release, the "Green Lanes" EP is another milestone for the rising duo. The EP opener 'Green Lanes' (co-written with London producer Books) is a dance floor ready tune with a hypnotic bassline and the perfect amount of cowbell. 'Maxi Love' brings the disco heat with an edit of a timeless classic, reinterpreted for late night escapades. Fulgeance aka Claude has been making music from all sides of the electronical spectrum under various aliases for over a decade, releasing on labels such as Musique Large, Ed Banger and Nowadays to name a few.

This is the fourth release under his Claude moniker, which he uses for his more uptempo endeavours. A1 is for Future, an uplifting track that combines warm Wurlitzer chords and disco breaks with deep SE1 basslines. Duke Hugh's mid-tempo boogie influenced remix is ideal for the summer or to bring the summer back when it's not around.

The B-side brings you All Right. Things get a bit deeper and darker here. R&S Records' the Maghreban delivers a tropical take on the original with with heavy broken percussion and afro beat sounding synths.

Italian Dodi Palese is a helpless vinyl addict: if it sounds good, he buys it. Collecting for most of his life, he soaks up anything he can then uses these records to speak to his audience in whatever way suits. Growing up with a father who ran a radio station is what installed this eclectic ethic in him, and it set him in good stead from the off.

For many years Dodi was core resident at Casablanca (RIP) in Southern Italy, where he would often spread his musical wings through funk, jazz, soul, afro, disco, house and techno for up to eight hours a night. It was an important learning curve that means he is now able to take a dance floor's hand and lead it on an unpredictable and rewarding journey through sound that defies the usual categorisations.

In the studio, Dodi focusses on following his instincts and getting lost in the moment: he makes music designed for dancing, and music that veers from afro-funky house to deep and supple minimal techno for the late night hours. It is slick, original stuff with real feeling imbued in the compelling grooves. Dodi also curates his own two labels What Ever Not, together with Dan Mela, and Engrave LTD, with Musumeci. They naturally have a broad outlook that takes in raw four-four, afro, electro and techno, and call upon a mix of artists who are well established as well as hot rising stars.

Semi-Cosmic, way wonky and oozing grooves, this is music for the fringe class.

The party starts with a tripped out tribute to an Italian inspiration. 'C60 Lato A' sees the crew pluck a couple of killers off a well worn Cosmic tape, leave them out in the sun a little too long then stick them back together with an experimental blend of UHU and fufu. Springy bass, spangled brass and mangled electronics make for a motherlode of funk, fried just long enough to make the walls melt. Bendy....

Over on the B-side the crew come through with a little bath-salt boogie, pitched down and loved up for all the slow dancers and romancers out there.
Strutting like a stoned fox, 'Get Serious' wraps rubber-limbed bass around propulsive percussion, gets hooky with the horns then slaps you silly with its x-rated synth-smut.
Pinched from the pound bin and taped over a CH 5 classic, this disco drooler will loosen up even the stickiest floors.
Freshly dressed and pressed to impress, the Drums are talking...

For the 5th in the Ele Records catalogue esteemed producer Cottam brings two killer edits to the table. The A side sees a joyous disco rework, extending and expanding elements to really hone in on that exuberant bassline and string section.
Flip it over and 'Jigsaw' delivers a dusty mixture of afro rhythms and stirring spoken words to entrance any audience it's set before.

The very first release of 2018 from Eureka!, is the well known Parisian sampling master S3A (Sampling As An Art) with his perfect definition between underground quality emotional house music and dancefloor efficiency.
He released from Lazare House Records, Hold Youth, Concrete Music, Local Talk, Phonogramme and Faces and with his background culture based on a solid knowledge of house music, soul, funk made him one of the most promising house artist of the French scene.

Mountain Charr contains 3 tracks in completely different styles. 'Doop Doop' is definitely a sound of S3A, with characteristic vocal cut up by adding powerful horn section and melodic piano loop.
'Emotional M1' is classic yet warm and cosy low deep groove track that is playable regardless of a time or place, from lounge to dancefloor.
To complete the package we have 'Denials', a more down tempo offering, but its melody is fascinating and yes, sexy.

06AM contains three Turkish and one fake Turkish edit. They sound quite traditional but they all have a psychedelic electronic or percussive edge which makes them worth stretching a bit. Afrobot presents two edits of quite under the radar folky tracks, Matt Moroder delivered a pretty unknown sexy disco slow burner and the fourth track is an instrumental Oriental sounding break beat rock track, which is actually from Germany, like the mysterious Potentiometer himself. Everybody Dance... A bonafide dancefloor invitation, this classic cut by Chain Reaction was originally released in 1980 on the P&P affiliate label, Sound Of New York. A project between keyboardist Dwight Brewster (of The Imperials) and percussionist Harold Sargent (of Wood, Brass & Steel fame) Dance Freak provides one finest moments in the entire catalog. A funky disco track with all the elements of a party anthem, it's no surprise it's been a favorite of veteran Deejays like Kenny Dope and Danny Krivit.

There are many reasons why this track is a must-have for Disco DJs. Outstanding percussions; check. Funky Guitar & Bass lines; check. Catchy chorus; check. Brass accents; very welcomed. Using a synth as a percussive instrument; incredible and most likely lifted from the Patrick Adams Handbook 'How to make a hit record'. There really isn't much more we can say here. We 'just wanna Dance with you...'
