In this case we encounter ourselves with a 3 tracker ep, where eclectic and electric sounds meet glitchy and funnny moods.
Original mix is in charge of two emerging talents such us Balbo (Ch) & Cazaux (Ar) where complex synths and rhytmic modulations are at the order of the day.
Two remixes fills this release, with more minimal outputs from the talented Alan Castro and Federico Molinari, two guys that does not need further introduction.

As a moth of light we felt strongly gravitated to the “New Light” by Dinkis. Intensity fits closest to this composition; it is the deepest, hitherto most personal work, packed in an emotional five-part journey.

The paths... between particles shrink, often drifting apart; but they are on an endless search for the new, the one point of attachment, which with all its nuances forms its very own finite world. Don't hold back, go ahead. According to this pattern, Dinkis sounds travel to “New Light”. The unknown traveller crosses the sonic spaces in quest of variety and continuity.

A dark contrast that oscillates back and forth through slow, powerful beats and an octave bouncing bassline. We virtually breathe the restraint, the fear of emptiness of “L'Astronauta”. So close to the target, the guides emerge as bright, floating points on the horizon; as the “Butterfly Poet” over a synthetic flow of sine waves. The present chapter of this composing journey provides a passionate realization.

Suddenly, the stream of thought stops and await for new impulses begins, until gradually, very slowly inspirations just dropping away. This is exactly how it feels when the “Rain In The Desert” sets in and everything starts to live. “Fuoco Nello Stomaco” or as long as the inner fire burns, no sudden drought on any level can cause a general stop.

Ambitions, dreams and creativity never stand still, are in motion; jump from sound to sound. It's this continuous excitement that Dinkis creates in this surprisingly real-feeling EP.

Reordering musical elements, patterns, and machines, Permutation is a duo of music producers from Barcelona who bridge inuences from electro and techno to 90s IDM and ambient electronica. Their second release presents three tracks developing a nuanced sonic palette of syncopated electro rhythms and intricate percussion immersed in a
dreamy contemplative atmosphere.

Kämpfer LP is a ghost story where Poltergeist invites Joy Division, New Order, Talking Heads, The Cure, Can, Kraftwerk, Nine Inch Nails or Jeff Mills for its first album. Marked by a heavy, deep and majestic atmosphere, this project evokes, without ever saying it openly, the climatic urgency, the ineluctable destiny, the human obsession to be first, to leave a trace of its passage and the nightmares which agitate the nocturnal spirits.

Between frenetic synths, bewitching waves and marked foot, this implacable album marks the beginning of the Poltergeist era.

Scratching synths, a dark and heavy universe: we can understand Vitalic's crush, who decided to sign the project at the first listening on his label Clivage Music.

Marshall McLuhan’s famous edict ‘the medium is the message’ has never been more apt than with regard to modern remix culture. Although the idea of the remix goes way back to the Jamaican dub pioneers and New York disco remixers of the 1970s, the form didn’t truly come into its own until the acid house explosion of the 1980s, when remixers’ credentials often subsumed — and sometimes surpassed — the original source material. Some, among them our lost friend Andrew Weatherall, used remixing as a springboard into multiple other directions, and became auteurs in their own right.

Forged in the white-hot heat of post-acid house Britain, these Heavenly remixes are perfectly weighted with respect and irreverence, the remixer in each case carefully chosen to add heft to the song (as on Al Breadwinner’s dubwise reworking of Mattiel’s ’Guns of Brixton’— the pairing more a game of chess than a best-of-three arm wrestle).

Although Heavenly was founded in the wake of huge upheavals in electronic music, it was still imbued with its own curious parallel life. I’ve always thought of Heavenly as one of the UK’s alt-pop labels; a place where brilliant pop bands live and record, if the general public would only realise. Some of them have ended up in the real, actual charts (Saint Etienne, Doves), but that’s missing the point about Heavenly, who are, like Factory and Fast Product before them, pop music’s conscience.

There is no sense of order to this compilation and we make no apologies. It’s the Heavenly way. Think of it as a present from Loki, the Norse god of mischief. You’ll find a smattering of older tracks: album openers Saint Etienne are taken on a Poseidon Adventure with Underworld, who inject ‘Cool Kids of Death’ with typically manic energy. Elsewhere, ’90s Brum duo Mother add dancefloor pzazz to Espiritu’s innate glamour on an all-funked-up reworking of ‘Los Americanos’, and Mark Lusardi’s remix of Moonflowers’ ‘Get Higher’ is an early Heavenly classic.

On ‘Terracotta Warrior’, a perfect, psyched-out, Mancunian union is created betwixt Jimi Goodwin and Andy Votel, whilst Goodwin cohort Simon Aldred, in his Cherry Ghost guise, receives a proper Tamla-Motowning from Richard Norris (aka Time & Space Machine) on an inspired cover of Cece Peniston’s glam-house hit, ‘Finally’.

There are several of Heavenly’s current darlings here too. One of the most exciting young British prospects, Yorkshire’s Working Men’s Club, effectively remix themselves, as Minsky Rock — WMC’s Syd Minsky-Sargeant and producer Ross Orton — cleave ‘X’ into a riotous industrial racket. Jagwar Ma’s Jono Ma takes the Kraftwerkian leitmotif on ‘Automatic’ and drives the Australian jazz-funkers Mildlife down an electro-convulsive psychedelic tunnel (thankfully no-one was harmed during the making of this remix); Sheffield’s DJ Parrot and Jarvis Cocker deliver one of the outstanding remixes of 2018, turning Baxter Dury’s ‘Miami’ into a lovelorn minor opera; and, making its first appearance on vinyl, David Holmes’ Unloved project is taken on a panoramic Welsh waltz thanks to Gwenno.


There may well be no rhyme, nor reason, to how these compilations have been put together, beyond the fact that they are assembled with love, an innate understanding of the power of great pop music, and a skilled marriage of song and remixer — but does one really need anything more than that for an album to make sense? I’d suggest not.

Carl Finlow - The Oberth Effect kicks off the record with a mind bending trip to the dark side of electro, delivering a masterclass in multi-layered synth sound design, rolling bass lines and Finlow's expert production. A fellow electro master Plant43 delivers his debut release for 20/20 Vision - Forcefield Deactivation following a pioneering run of records over many years for Semantica, Bleep43 and Cultivated Electronics.A

Crossing continents to Asia, the flip side features a collaboration between Hong Kong based producers Mr. Ho & Xiaolin (Klasse Wrecks). 'No Change To How I Feel' is a unique sign of the times. A deep techno track served with a heavy 4/4 kick, perpetually evolving arpeggios, quick fire hats and a haunting vocal. Leeds based producer Alfred completes the release with a sound forged from intricate drum sequencing and strong chords and melodies. Alfred is an exciting new talent that manages to connect the dots between breakbeat and electro.

After releasing two EPs from rising talent MOY, Batrachian’s journey through mystical synths, breakbeat and electro rhythms, and ear-worm melodies continues in the capable hands of Bristol-based Jack Wiles. Classic 2001 collection from Detroit's ADULT. 20th anniversary of the original release, 10th anniversary of the first vinyl pressing. Available for the first time in red & black marbled vinyl. "We've wanted to re-release this album for some time," says ADULT.'s Adam Lee Miller, "but we weren't ready until now. We have some new material in the pipeline, and we thought this would be a nice way to reintroduce ourselves." It is indeed a nice way for the hugely respected Detroit duo to herald their return to the world of music, especially for anyone who missed out on Resuscitation the first time around _ the album was never available digitally until the 2012 re-release and vinyl pressing on Ghostly International. The reissue thus presented the chance to own one of the more influential records of the early 2000s: either on double 12" LP or, for the first time, as a digital release. Now, in 2022, the vinyl is available for the first time in a new red and black marble colorway. When it first dropped in 2001, Resuscitation served as a de facto introduction to the duo, collecting a bunch of songs on CD that had only previously been available on hard-to-find singles and EPs. Eleven years later, it does the same thing, except this time around, we can see just how influential its creators' work has been _ and ADULT.'s music only sounds more remarkable with the benefit of hindsight. At the time, Resuscitation's combination of crisp beats, squelch-laden synths and Nicola Kuperus' detached monotone sounded like a broadcast from the future, steeped in the analog synth sounds of forebears like Kraftwerk but possessed of an ultramodern sheen all its own. The duo's visual aestheticwas just as important _ Kuperus' photography adorned all their album packaging (including this re-release), and their liveshows drew on a sense of what a reviewer once called "detached intrigue." Echoes of ADULT.'s aesthetic can be heard today in everythingfrom today's surfeit of analog synth-toting minimal wave bands to the highly stylized divas who dominate the pop charts. But really, in 2022 Resuscitation still sounds like no-one else.

The boutique label from Milan is back with a 6 tracker ep. Masterminds Volantis and Nicodemo present Spaziotempo EP, serving up 4 brand new tracks and asking two of most-in-demand producers out there to put their hands on, Bell Towers and Andras, the two hitmakers from Australia. This record dangerously contains “hands in the air” moments and blissful vibes.

The first time I heard of Mattes Schwarz, someone called him 'Stecken-Mattes'. Stecken was a defining, if almost secret, Cologne dance music venue of the 2000s and early 2010s, a minuscule basement without curfew and seemingly any other restrictions, where the up to twelve hour long DJ-sets felt like a tightly knit circle of friends just playing records to each other: The selectors from the night before and the one after reliably sitting right in front of the just over one meter long stretch of the bar that formed its booth, never missing out on a chance to see their mates play, heads nodding and hands clapping through the smoke-filled air, until someone started to sing along, and eventually everyone got up for a few hours of moves on the 15 square meter dancefloor, on a grey Wednesday or Saturday morning at 7 or just as well 10 am.
Mattes Schwarz started DJing in 1982 at age twelve, inspired by, as many West-German kids, the GI-DJs of the roller skating rinks around US army bases. While he got heavily involved in Cologne's BMX scene of the 90s, he never really stopped, and during the main years of being known as Stecken-Mattes and playing there each Friday night, he coincidently lived in Magazine record's homebase, North- Eastern Cologne's old harbour.
One day after Stecken's closure had sent restructuring ripples through the city - I imagine him getting up in the morning and taking a deep breath - he decided to send Magazine a few tracks.

Swiss re-issue label PROXIMA moves on from italo into the New Beat Belgian categories with this great release by Jo Bogaert, aka Thomas De Quincey, who played a strong role in putting Belgium on the map during the New Beat era into the early 90's with projects like Technotronic. This release features 3 tracks in one EP with different mixes and a new remix by Audrey Danza.

Faze Action return with a classic original house track "Paradise" managing to seamlessly fuse Italo house with the New York sound of the late 80's early 90's. Finely mixing a cocktail of heavenly piano house riffs with dreamy vocals and dubby bass lines, topped off with some classic breakdown moments to tease the most discerning dancefloors into hysteria.
We have also included two tracks for the first time on vinyl, the classic Rudy's Midnight Machine - "Open to Your Love" and Faze Action's - "I Wanna Dancer" (Old School House Mix) plus we have the floor filling ST House Mix of "Freak for Your Love".

Especial Specials completes its series of releases with Osaka's
Chillmountain Recordings, again including label head Ground and friends to present a showcase of their music from 110 bpm Beatdown stomps to an uplifting collaboration with edit supremo Mori Ra, rising star Akira Arasawa to two perfect closing Balearic sunset jams.

Starting with Ground's Kaukiji. Inspired by local folklore of his hometown, this is an exemplary take on the quirky looped, locked acid house meets psychedelic live grooves their productions and DJ sets are known for. A wonky, wobbly, perky mix of house and tribal techno.

Following is a quirky detour with Ground teaming up with Japan's own edit whiz extraordinaire Mori Ra in a grooving, growing, whirl of floating kalimba, timbales, carnival whistles, rainforest squawks and shrieks, aptly titled Mountain Disco

Akira Arasawa returns for the finale with a twist, eschewing the dancefloor bombs this series has presented from a rising star for some a tantric, dubbed-out Balearic sonics.

Hutte Sound System then return. A project born in Osaka a decade ago, Ground first developing a studio craft with producer Absolute Time, naming the results after the location it was made - Hutte. Hutte Life In Future ios the results, a slice of slo-mo motorik that finds an anthemic funk.

Enjoy Your Self closes. Originally, released, as with all the music present in the series via Chillmountain's Bandcamp, on vinyl it is chopped from a long form ambient digi-swirl to be presented as a cheeky closing edit, a goodbye and arigato !!

Especial Specials returns after a 4-year hiatus with another series of releases bringing previously digital only tracks to vinyl, this time teaming up with Osaka based Chillmountain Recordings.

Compiled with DJ, Producer and label head, Ground, the 4 EP series presents a best of / cross section of the releases to date, highlighting their leftfield, psychedelic, ambient, trippy-pop, cosmic cumbia and dance floor electronics.

Featuring a mix of known producers like Akio Nagase (Especial), Mori Ra (Macadam Mambo / Hivern Discs) and Ground (ESP Institute), with the soon in-demand Akira Arasawa, as well as the new wave pop of Killy, the Balearic anthems of Hutte Sound System and more, Enjoy Your Self is just that, an uplifting view of a label forging its own path.

EP1 starts with possibly the most dance-friendly track of the whole series, Arasawa showing his Trance background with a driving psychedelic meets discoid bang. O.R. follows with laidback breaks of the aptly titled Hammock Beats, before label head Ground teams up with Synth Sisters (EM Records) member MAYUKo for a 100bpm mid-tempo bongo-laden, trippy-chugger that is highly representative of the Chillmountain sound. To finish the first EP, Hutte Sound System (aka Absolute Time and Ground) present a perfect downtempo, Balearic closing that encapsulates a snapshot of the label.

Magnonic Signals welcome back the extraordinary talents of Darren Nye following his label debut on Neuromorphic Engineering Vol.1.

Well known for his beautiful techno, electro and electronica and featuring on top labels including FireScope, Nebulae, Revoke and Childhood Intelligence, Darren brings ‘Forgotten Technology’ which is some of his best work to date.

'Hidden In Plain Sight' (+) a dystopian electro track weaving lush warm pads and glassy eyed melodies over bubbling 808 beats with added 303 grittiness resulting in a wonderful timeless Detroit inspired gem.

Dr. Rhythm was a short-lived house project by a British musician Mark Woollard who would later go on to become a library musician. As Dr. Rhythm, he released two 12" on Chill music subsidiary Danceteria in 91 and 92. Joining Mark on production and remix duties were Jason (E.M.U.) and Neil of Liquid Son whose house hits we also reissued in 2021.

For such a release, Radioactive Man fit the bill perfectly to jump on remix duties, especially considering how much the legendary producer has inspired GE's musical outlook. His take on Base Control (the most hard-hitting original on the EP) experiments cleverly with the central synth pattern, pitching this down alongside more spaced-out production throughout, to create a 7-min masterpiece of psychedelic and engaging electro.

For it’s fourth instalment Dublin imprint 393 welcomes Dylan Forbes to the fold, and with this comes the labels first solo 12”. Forbes is an up and coming Irish producer and for his debut on 393 delivers an EP that fits in perfectly with the label’s previous releases, melding house, techno, bleep and acid sounds across 4 songs.

Opening with the suitably-titled Hypnotise, Forbes is at his most restrained, teasing with a broken beat rhythm and svelte minor chord progression before the acid starts to seep in underneath the timeless groove, eventually stripping the track back to just the 303 and drums.

For the midsection of the release those familiar with the sounds of Transmat-era Aril Brihka and the 3rd wave of Detroit-inspired techno will find much to love in the driving progressions and ethereal soundscapes of Starburst and the slamming chords of Trip 2 Jupiter which really gives this record a classic feel

Inspiral closes out the EP with the releases most dancefloor heavy cut, taking its cues not just from classic Detroit but also the rave-inflected bleep & acid sounds of Sheffield, while always keeping a strong melodic temperament. 393x04 is not only designed with the club in mind but across it’s 4 songs has many moods to fit the floor depending on the time and stage of the night. One can’t ask for much more than that...
