Eighteen years ago, Oppenheimer Analysis made its indelible mark with the iconic track ‘The Devil’s Dancers,’ heralding the birth of the Minimal Wave label. Founded with a singular mission, the label set out to share this musical gem with the world. The inaugural release was the self-titled Oppenheimer Analysis EP, meticulously pressed onto high-quality 180-gram black vinyl, accompanied by a striking 18” x 24” poster adorned with captivating photos and lyrics. This historic release graced the world on December 6th, 2005. Remarkably, this EP has been elusive for a decade now.
In an exciting development, the fifth edition of the Oppenheimer Analysis self-titled EP is set to debut in December 2023, featuring the original remastered version of ‘The Devil’s Dancers.’ This EP is presented as a loving tribute to Martin Lloyd (1950-2013 R.I.P.), one half of Oppenheimer Analysis. The EP showcases select tracks from the 1982 Oppenheimer Analysis cassette titled “New Mexico,” along with two previously unreleased gems. The story behind Oppenheimer Analysis began when Andy Oppenheimer, a nuclear weapons consultant, and Martin Lloyd, also known for his work with the Survival Label and the project “Analysis,” crossed paths at a Science Fiction Convention in London in 1979. They shared the stage with notable bands like Hawkwind and Spizz Energi and garnered attention in the pages of Melody Maker.
This fifth edition release consists of 999 meticulously hand-numbered 180-gram black vinyl copies, each accompanied by the first edition poster insert. Notably, the spot color on the sleeve distinguishes each edition: green for the first, deep blue-green for the second, light powder blue for the third, mint green for the fourth, and a brighter aqua mint for this current fifth edition.

Remember how badly we wanted to join them and be part of those sea-faring adventures: Jack London’s The Sea-Wolf, classic TV shows based on his novel The Road, on Radu Toduran’s novels... back then, a couple decades ago, the titles of these shows alone were enough to trigger some strong gusts in our hearts, salty squalls perfect for imaginary downwind journeys we dreamed of with billowing sails. We wanted to cruise alongside albatrosses, seagulls, and fellow sailors. Floating high above a three-masted vessel, we watched our own adventures unfold far below, an imagined movie scene complete with a whole crew that worked the rigging, and all the rest. Cutting waves. Amidst the storm and stress of sounds hitting our eardrums far out in the ocean. Combined with the sounds of rotors, of tropics crossed, of marimbas and cabin wood pounded, of strange music spotted in the distance. And even though it was merely for an hour or two that we were rescued by that seal-hunting ship “Ghost,” as Jack London had it, plus, even worse, often found ourselves surrounded by villains: it was a great escape, for we’d successfully set sails – to new and exciting places.
Both around their own Weilheim shores and elsewhere, brothers Markus and Micha Acher have launched various musical vessels, bands and free-floating constellations over the past three decades – and yet: amid all these other speedboats and unlikely sonic barges, The Notwist has always remained the mother ship. This new album documents the latest live incarnation of this very band, which also features Andi Haberl, Max Punktezahl, Karl Ivar Refseth, and Cico Beck. Recorded on December 16, 2015 on the second of three consecutive, sold-out nights at UT Connewitz in Leipzig, Germany, "Superheroes, Ghost-Villains & Stuff" indeed feels like a first-hand live experience caught on triple vinyl. That’s why it’s the definitive album of The Notwist’s career.
Although there is one song that points to the early, “louder years” of The Notwist – “One Dark Love Poem” off the album Nook –, the rest of the night’s set sees the band perform all the major hits off Neon Golden, The Devil, You + Me, and Close To The Glass. However, these are different, organically enhanced versions, new interpretations and combinations that feel much more alive; thanks to Olaf Opal’s incredible mix, they sometimes even outshine the original studio recordings. Listening to "Superheroes, Ghost-Villains & Stuff" feels like watching these songs evolve and change, moving from one frame to the next, much like a baroque triptych.
What starts out like ‘wimmelbook’ imagery, the music soon folds and unfolds like a Moebius strip: Sans bottom or top, sans inside or outside, the inside becomes the outside and vice versa. It’s all about sonic interconnection, about music as entanglement, music as reconciliation. The rather majestic, cinematic (indie) pop and experimental, kraut- infused jazz, the spirit of the enlightenment and baroque playfulness, the traces of modernism and minimal music, dub leanings, hip-hop lessons, and even hints of house music: here is where they all come together, reconciled in a sound that’s both melancholy and romantic. And ultimately, the spirit of these songs is set free – and the band has released itself, is free at last.
As for the album title, it’s lifted from the song “Kong,” and encapsulates Markus Acher’s motto. Throughout the track, the water theme first appears as a dangerous threat: a force that’s strong enough to wash away an entire house; and yet the fluid state keeps transforming and eventually releases that sense of threat into something rather hopeful, a new musical beginning, a melodic departure that ultimately leads to euphoria and a renewed spirit of adventure. These are the strong gusts mentioned above, it’s the spirit of discovery, the urge to set sail together. The crew’s back at it, working the instruments, the rigging, with sails a- billow, launching the next voyage of discovery, assuming the East in the West and vice versa. And thus the adventure saga continues.

Mr. G and Duncan now return to 49North with a brand new 4 track EP.
The first cut, Cosmic One is a peak time futuristic roller that lures you in gently and leads you through its infectious sonic journey.
Cosmic Two comes straight in with its solid electro-funk 808 rhythm, a nod to early Detroit electro but with its feet firmly set in the 21st Century, it builds and builds and builds.
Cosmic Three revisits the synth work of Cosmic One and switches things up a few gears. From the get-go it’s heads down, a driving funk fuelled groove.
Cosmic Four rewinds us to a beat-less reprise of Cosmic One but very much its own unique space. Like sliding into a warm bath of dubbed out beat-less analogue bliss
Enjoy the ride ......

Fresh from DOTT’s “Puppy Luv EP” and Rudoh’s “Vinland In Space EP”, Jugaar Records is back and this time with a full-length, double-pack vinyl, and digital compilation bringing together friends from Asia and Europe. The record is testament to the healthy place the Asian electronic music landscape finds itself in and those intrepid producers who are willing to explore new scenes and sounds. It's energy-crew from the off - with UK beatmaker Joe Koshin’s “Astro Wax”, a techy electro work-out that conjures images of futuristic cityscapes and dense urban mazes. Up next, Pakistan-born and label co-boss Rudoh maintains the electro vibe with cut-up hip-hop vocals sprinkled on top of a pulsating bassline in his “KOF”. His records are being picked up by global tastemakers from Emerald to Roza Terenzi to DJ Masda. Don’t sleep!
Moving to the B-side, German-born, London mainstay Voigtmann shuffles and deals a steppy drum pattern and intricate synth-work, with a bassline drenched in that particular brand of funk to get the party going even at the most ungodly hour. Observatory resident Nic Ford closes this disk with an ambient excursion that summons spiritual rave voices from the deep laid atop a lilting synth loop. It’s typical of his ambient performances which have gained much notoriety in Vietnam of late.
Opening the second record is Egyptian gem Hassan Abou Alam whose recent outings on Naïve and Banoffee Pies have gained him much and well-deserved attention. Here, his “Gloom” combines twinkling IDM modes with heavy sub bass experiments primed to stop the most idiosyncratic dancefloors in their tracks. Up on C2, the Version, 3024 and Phonica Records graduate Yak adds breaks to the equation. His “Disk Full” brings together a haunting gated synth and razor-sharp beat programming to devastating effect. Melbourne based, Salt Mines Records honcho Shedbug concludes this side with his hopeful “A Lil Piece” whose soaring synth line will hit all the right emotional chords at all the right times.
On the final side Bangkokian Chalo reminds us why he is one of the masters of this increasingly fully formed scene. His Depth Charge is a muggy dub-laden, electro jam capable of rattling the weightiest sound systems in some of the most twisted raves at the end of some of the darkest Sois. The record is completed by New Delhi linchpin and Boxout.fm resident Monophonik, whose techno/electro “Tumbi” journeys out of the night into a euphoric sunrise moment that will be setting the dancefloors alight come festival season.

Preconceived ideas about electronic music die hard. One of them is the belief that the mastery of analog instruments would be more noble than that of software's. S8jfou knows that this is false, as for him a computer is well worth a modular synthesizer, provided you know how to fully exploit it and immerse yourself in it headlong. On his new album Op·Echo, the producer has only worked with two digital tools available on Ableton: the synthesizer Operator and the delay effect Echo. Nothing else. The intend wasn’t to impose constraints or limit himself, but rather to experiment and demonstrate that the character of a sound can be made from scratch and offer a deeper music and vector of emotions.
The producer thrives on his UK electronic influences to compose broken and repetitive rhythms, but without redundancy. A basis on which he then adds several harmonic, dissonant and distorted layers, like a soloist who would express himself on moving foundations.
When you contemplate the world, you also see how violent it is. So S8jfou sometimes get more industrial and radical. But in the middle of the effervescence, the impact of the ambient on his music is felt, nourished by the lifestyle of his author who composed this album in Brittany, isolated.
So even though S8jfou has worked following his concept of limiting the tools at his disposal, it is above all to give shape to wild and crazy sensations and ideas. Isn’t that, by the way, the very essence of music ?

To mark a mighty impressive 20 years of PuZZling records in 2023, the label has put together this heavyweight mix of names for an EP that sounds as good as it looks on marbled vinyl. It's a truly global affair with artists from all over the world and The Exaltics kick off with 'All Of This', a typically rugged slide of electro. From there the quality never dips with Freddie Fresh jacking your body, the legendary Neil Landstrumm bringing his textbook machine madness and Umwelt closing down with 'Celestial Mechanics'. Old school electro, acid and techno heads take note, this is a must-buy.

Solenoid is back with SLN019, this time Label owner Erta Ale shares the sides with the welcomed Italian duo we.amps. Connection, vibrations and affinity - all aspects that bring together a remarkable release between the two producers. 'Suck my/ Oblivious' is the perfect example of the meaning of connection and keeping true to one's own “style”. 'Drummy ya' is the essence of being eclectic and simultaneously dance floor oriented. A stormy chord combined with a twisty acid melody that clashes on the unexpected vocal break, moving onto the second part of the track where a stormy loop becomes raw and gritty yet arranged in an intentional and accurate manner. 'Suck my' is fast and "break" with a 4/4 beat making the arrangement experienced, at the same time , the electro baseline with the deep male vocal, throws the listener into its vortex of sound. Side B showcases Erta's experimental breakbeat track “Oblivious” , perfect for a sophisticated dance floor or a radio podcast. The last track “Odyssey” is one of the most intimate and hypnotic tracks by the record label owner. An atmospheric and even sentimental track which was created during his last South African tour.

Flexi Cuts is pleased to introduce Lazy Snail's new EP, Lucky Life. A truly valuable work, the result of time and research, where Alessandro (aka Lazy Snail) wanted to explore different sides of electronic music of an inner and mature nature at the same time.
Lucky Life is like going up to the attic and finding something precious to take care of; it sums up a long musical journey, from the past to the present, in five tracks full of meaning.
The first track, Remèrcier, is a tribute to 'dance' music, an intense talk over a hypnotic moog bass.
This is followed by Vagrants, dedicated to his hometown (Cudgnola), where we find an 808 rhythmic patterns as involving and beating as a walk in the rain.
The B-side opens with One Place, which features a vocal stunning collaboration with Flicker Fox, who brings the track into a techno universe with percussion and intimate echoes.
Climbin' High was inspired by Alessandro's passion and admiration for the mountains. He composed it imagining an extreme climb, and immediately afterwards an equally dangerous but necessary descent. Just like in reality.
The record ends with No Evil, an ambient-flavoured gem that opens on the climax in a riot of expert snares and synths.

Extraordinaire multi instrumentalists Matt Lord and Kaidi Tatham team up for a proper Dance album for Neroli.
They remixed, engineered/co-produced and played on hundreds of records for other artists as well as being part of Bugz In The Attic and active members in several projects for 2000black, but this is the very first time they release a collaborative project under their own names.
Here they channel all their musicianship and talent in a collection of songs aimed at the dancefloor, showing another straighter and playful side of what we all learned to love from them!
Songs like ‘Sensitive Souls’, ‘Pickin’ and Choosin’ and the Dego/Mr Mensah collaboration ‘Cape Verdean Blues’ are fierce dj material, while the anthemic title track ‘Find Another Way’ and ‘Strollin’ add extra spice and sophistication to the plot. Plus there’s even more to discover on this accomplished album that hopefully will be finally played on a dancefloor near you….

On her 6th album, the French electroacoustic composer BÉRANGÈRE MAXIMIN explores the idea of a kaleidoscopic world - a sonic aggregation of living creatures, plants, minerals, nature and buildings, using various sound objects, small percussions, synths, electric guitar, voice and electronics.
Working out of her private studio since 2008, BÉRANGÈRE MAXIMIN has developed her own approach to sound art and electronic music, composing dense, immersive pieces with immediate impact. On five albums – released to critical acclaim on TZADIK, SUB ROSA , CRAMMED DISCS and CRAIG LEON's ATLAS REALISATIONS label - she has revealed a taste for mixing disparate sounds together with a sense of detail, effusive, lyrical playings with the digital material and tight nuanced writing. BÉRANGÈRE MAXIMIN's music engages the listener in consideration of space and textures, the sound ambivalence and its independence from its original source being at the center of her work.
During her career, the French composer has obtained commissions and residenciesinNational Music Research Centres such asParis' Ina-GRM, Stockholm's EMSand received a grant from the 'Villa Medicis Hors Les Murs' program in New York City (Cultures France). She has performed in notable festivals, venues and concert halls from Paris' Présences Electronique festival, London's Hayward gallery, NYC's Roulette, Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie's e-Phil series to major international festivals in Eastern Europe. Beside her solo performances, she also regularly shares the stage in duo withFRED FRITH.
"Land of Waves": three words evoking territories of plains and curves connected with each other by canals, footpaths, tunnels. The four parts of the album lead the listener into a hybrid land where the jungle meets the city ... A succession of reliefs, surfaces, textures, layers create a large mosaic as if on a concrete wall which seems solid and definitive but is in fact penetrable, alterable.
For "Land of Waves", Bérangère Maximin took inspiration from recordings she did in various city parks, abandoned properties and limits with the suburbs during her travels in Europe, the diversity of sources, the variations of events and the contrasts between day and night they offered, and reinterpreted them in the studio.
Past press:
"Maximin's cinematic soundworks are discomforting reminders that the universe does not at all belong to us."The Wire
"It feels like the world is turning inside Maximin's songs now, and the resulting gravity has the weight of nature on its side." Pitchfork
"It calls for deep listening due to so many beautiful moments appearing out of the mixes which could be missed on a quick blast on a PC." The Quietus
"Incorruptibly leathern and sparklingly tenacious" - Spex Magazine.

Another debut record on LBF is coming from Saint Petersburg habitant - Pasha Mikheev aka Cable Toy.
Former game soundtracks and ad music maker, he found himself attending dance parties more frequently in recent years, and eventually making dance music himself.
After some time he started throwing parties at Tancploshadka club in Saint P, touring around Russia and quite often playing at Denis Simachev Shop & Bar, so it makes perfect sense that his first record appears on the affiliated label.
First tune here is a peak-time banger with an Acidic feel featuring a vocal hook from Kirill Ivanov, frontman of a Russian indie pop band SBP4, followed by a huge percussive hypno jam on A2.
The B-side offers two versions of a tune made in a collaboration with Lipelis, one of the label heads, and it's up to you to decide which way are you going - deeper Italo-house journey with the first version, or ravey, breakbeat territories of the second one.

Funnuvojere is thrilled to present Couple Looking, a new project uniting the label’s mastermind Massimiliano Pagliara with fellow Berlin-based DJ Chris Cruse. Celebrated on the international electronic scene, Cruse is the force behind Los Angeles’ finest queer party Spotlight, and part of the crew behind the legendary Club Toilet in Detroit.
This cheeky duo invites listeners into their world of rich sonic textures and uplifting pitches. This is evident in the juxtaposition of raw and refined acid lines of A1 “For The Remote,” and the distortions that also characterise A2 “For A Snack.” On the B side they’re looking “For K+,” an addictive Balearic groove interweaving luxurious pianos and other-worldly vocals. In the end, they are looking “For You” on the B2: a future classic Italo pop song heralding new possibilities, good advice and sweet resolutions.

Petr Ullmann, the only member of the DWP (Down And Up) project, is a classically trained musician, composer and producer from Prague, Czech Republic. Despite his strong background and roots in the local synth-pop and EBM scene of the 90’s, he is coming with his solo debut “Spirography”, a 4-track EP only now, in 2022.
After a 10-year break from making any music. Now more subtle and soundscape-oriented, but still on dancey side, also influenced by Drum & Bass, Trip Hop or IDM. By collecting and using a diverse range of natural samples, he creates his moody melodies, always playing with a various atmospheres.
A pile of trippy and bassy synths, happy highs, deepy lows with bright lights, hidden and late rooms, all ending in one big madness. “Life is hard and full of polygons which someone has to pilot.”

On the flip Envee gives the track a polish with some strings and percussion, without loosing the intensity of the original.

Balmat is a new label with a cloudy outline.
Jointly shepherded by Philip Sherburne and Albert Salinas, two friends living in Cardedeu, Catalonia, and on the Balearic island of Menorca, Balmat grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show on Spain’s Radio 3. Balmat’s mission is simple: to foster new ideas, expand upon personal obsessions, and put enveloping sounds out into the world.
“Balmat” means “empty” or “void” in Catalan. But quite apart from any negative connotations, we prefer to think of it in terms of possibility: a space waiting to be filled.
Balmat’s first release comes from Luke Sanger, a Norwich, UK-based artist whose two decades of electronic music making have encompassed a range of tools and techniques, from MaxMSP to modular synthesis. Along the way he has built an extensive catalog encompassing ambient atmospheres, abstract soundscaping, and more. With Languid Gongue, he puts multiple approaches into play. Experiments in microtonal composition balance out pieces in standard tunings, while esoteric electronic machines merge with familiar acoustic treatments and microphone techniques.
The result is a constellation of his signature sounds: freeform new-age fantasia; spring-loaded toytronic arpeggios; quartz-driven braindance clockworks. Drifting between consonant, almost lyrical compositions and shape-shifting textural sketches, the album drifts with the nonchalance of a sky-high cirrus cloud, and it glows as if illuminated from within. When we heard the material, we knew that it was the perfect choice to launch the label. To us, it sounds like a roadmap for points unknown.
