Of course this is not the first album born under-the-influence of mushrooms, but apparentlyTaeggi doesn't take them here as he rather observes the cognitive and intelligent behavior of mycorrhizal fungal roots—one of the great mysteries inhabiting the forest soil, and from which a network of beneficial underground relationships with plants sprouts. Known as Mycelium, this fascinating wood-wide-web very much resembles the intricacy of the human neural system—transporting carbon, water and nutrients from one tree to another. A mutualistic symbiosis that Taeggi similarly establishes with the rather rare arsenal of sound machineries he had access to at Willem-Twee synthesis studios in Holland—a center for experimentation inspired by Berio and Maderna's Studio di Fonologia RAI in 1950s Milan.

In the process of tweaking and feeding electric impulses and sound signals into instruments of the likes of the iconic ARP 2500/2600 and a number of testing/measuring units from the 50/60s—originallynot conceived as musical instruments—Taeggi engages into an exchange of nutrients and information, while abruptly sabotaging un-welcome elements, hence accelerating the sound superhighway towards spectral psychedelic tension—a process he seems to be extremely in control of. Taking a step aside from his usual minimal approach to address more complex structures and augmented mind-sets, Mycorrhiza sounds at times like gamelan from the future: a lucid excursion into a form of "ritual-computer-music" with a conspicuous penchant for detail,alluding to a continuitybetween pseudo-cerimonial and laboratory-like computer music, steering clear from any reference to a specific creed or religion—imagine Stockhausen drinking the Amazonian sacred brew Ayahuasca..

The swarming micro-movements of "Cuttleburrs" multiply in a series of crescendos marked by sudden falls, saturated drums incursions and tense sonic clusters, introducing the more explicit gamelan percussive tones and compositional forms of "Kodama" and "Icaro". Recorded on the ARP 2500, "Mycorrhiza" uses white noise generators, resonant bass and spring reverb to conjure up a magical fungal diorama, which expands into the spooky shadows of skeletons and demons of "Phantasmagoria" and the spectral mystics of "Oculus Cordis"—the Eye of the Spirit — in which Taeggi grapples with the same sine-wave generators that Stockhausen used in his seminal "Studie I" and "Studie II".

Cape Cira is the lush, hypnotic debut album by acclaimed British producer K-LONE.

In contrast to his clubbier productions, Cape Cira sees the producer explore the full melodic and textural potentials of his sound, drawing influence from ambient, fourth world, and modern classical music to create a work more closely related to the outputs of SND, Jon Hassell, Burnt Friedman, or - more recently - Don’t DJ and Visible Cloaks.

The result of a short creative burst during a grim British winter, the record explores music as escapism, comprising a series of lush, warm vignettes that demonstrate music’s unique transportive power. Cape Cira takes place in a sensuous sonic world between the natural and digital realms: FM synthesisers mimic acoustic instruments, tuned percussion and bird song; and found sounds and field recordings are processed with a hyperreal sheen.

The gift for composition only hinted at in K-LONE’s work to date is on full display here. The artful and intuitive simplicity of the record’s melodies belies the complexity of their composition, where looping polyrhythms create shifting, unresolved patterns and ever-changing counterpoints.

Cape Cira marks the first full length release on Wisdom Teeth - the label he runs with friend and collaborator, Facta. The album stands as an exciting next step for both the producer and the label itself, furthering their reputation as key young voices in contemporary electronic music.

Osheyack is releasing a new EP, Memory Hierarchy, via Shanghai label SVBKVLT.

The four-track EP, which muses on dystopian topics such as omnipresent surveillance and deepfake technology, was originally performed live at Unsound 2019.

One of the great truths of today's reality is that it's mostly fake. Technological advancement, in a dual process of exteriorization (our memories and organs extended into manipulable artifacts) and interiorization (artificial structures installed as prostheses), has muddied our waters so that we are unable to tell truths from lies, actuality from abstraction. Musing on the contemporary culture of “deepfakes,” where interlocking algorithms meet the omnipresence of surveillance, Eli Osheyack’s Memory Hierarchy is a gesamtkunstwerk, crystallized into the memorial device of a record.

When first performed live at Unsound Festival in 2019, Osheyack, together with collaborator, the late Adam Dupré, captured and live-streamed the audiences’ motions. Evidence of this event is rendered here as album artwork, transporting audiences into a doubly displaced moment in time. With it's almost epical structure, punctuated by recurring howls and gasps, Liar’s Dividend feels like an omen—of, among other things, a Nietzschean last man suffering from gluttony. On the B-side, Mutual Shaping and Tertiary leave us, instead, reveling in warped time and disorientation. Dedicated to Adam Dupré.

As we travel further along the murky 2020 time-continuum we are pleased to deliver the next release for Pure Space Recordings. This time from one of Melbourne’s most acclaimed producers, Rings Around Saturn.

Rings Around Saturn delivers us with two club focussed tracks that skilfully toe the line between electro and bass music.

On the A-sde you will find ‘Grip’, a heavy hitter that’s weight comes from the deep sub-rhythms and hefty drum programming. The melodic, acid-infused arpeggios that fill the tracks body seemingly pull you further and further off the ground until finally the suspension is released through a glistening breakdown.

On the flip you will find ‘Subterranean Electro’, a track titled aptly to describe its heady electroism. Here deep bass is met with skittering pads, and tension fuelled melodies whilst a constant rhythm that feeds the tracks subterranean ecosystem. The gritty melody is fast and jittery keeping you on your toes whilst you complete your journey.

Hamburg-based Love-Songs’ newest output Nicht Nicht continues the band ́s striving to mesh defined grids with improvisatory snapshots to create their very own take on organic electronica. Since 2012, the electro-acoustic trio were able to explore the possibilities of their free-flowing interplay through the course of several EPs and the mini-album ‘Inselbegabung’, which was released on Kame House.

Now they are ready to submit their debut album Nicht Nicht on Bureau B. Meandering through it's seven-tracks "Nicht Nicht" contains the Trios most aerially shimmering tracks to date flanked by Tribal bouncers. Form, deform- and somewhere in between ...

With an already eclectic catalogue of music just a mere three releases in, London-based imprint Burnin Music Recordings looks to continue that trend.

Stepping up to the plate on the fourth release is label head, Pegasvs, who is making his production debut. Featuring alongside him on the single 'Drinking With My Eyes' is the multi-talented Xuli, a UK-based poet, singer and dancer.

Together, the two manage to create a strikingly contemporary piece of music which pulls from influences across varying areas of dance music, and is already drawing comparisons to acclaimed groups Hercules and Love Affair and Azari & III.

Enlisted on remix duties is none other than French luminary producer, Hugo LX, who delivers a deeper take on the original with shimmering cosmic leads, lush chords and a bubbly low end.

Nach einer fünfjährigen Auszeit, in der er sich ganz unterschiedlichen Musikprojekten widmete, kündigt Squarepusher sein nächstes Studioalbum "Be Up A Hello" an. Für das neue Album setzte Tom Jenkinson nach vielen Jahren erstmals wieder auf dieselbe digitale und analoge Hardware, mit der er in den frühen 1990ern seinen Trademark-Sound definierte. Die Verwendung der Vintage-Synthesizer und -Effekte (inkl. eines Commodore Vic-20) markiert eine radikale Kehrtwende für den Briten, der auf dem Vorgänger "Damogen Furies" noch komplett auf moderne Tools und die neueste Software setzte, von ihm selbst im Laufe von 15 Jahren programmiert und optimiert. Das Ergebnis klingt vor allem ausgelassen, wenn Tom astreine Breakbeat-Tunes wie "Nervelevers" und "Terminal Slam" – klassisches Dancefloor-Material – vom Stapel lässt. Düstere Tracks wie "Vortrack" und "Mekrev Bass" belegen derweil, dass er nach wie vor ein Faible für perfekt ausbalancierten Psycho-Overload hat. Insgesamt verweist "Be Up A Hello" auf die Ära der DIY-Raves in Essex, deren Ekstase, Ausgelassenheit und Hemmungslosigkeit die ganze Herangehensweise von Tom nachhaltig prägen sollten.

Niels builds magic soundscapes using home organs, analogue synths and effects. Harmonic, melodic and melancholic. The music is a journey from the great cities of 70s Europe to the rural areas and woodlands of Sweden. The music is performed completely live and partly improvised without the aid of computers or backtracks. Niels has played different stages around in Sweden, the largest being opening for OMD.

The second release on the Neverdogs' new label is another cracker, with Sebastian Ledher and Matteo Gatti providing two tracks each.

Ledher is one of Colombia's finest DJ exports and runs his own label Play Groove Recordings. He has played vital clubs like Cafe Del Mar, Fabrik in Madrid and festivals like BPM, while his tasteful house and techno counts amongst its fans names as big as Carl Cox and Marco Carola. Here he links on a split EP with Italian Matteo Gatti who brings his own take on techno to a brace of brilliant cuts.

Ledher goes first with 'My House', an acid laced jam with warm analogue bass. It's the sort of fluid track that worms its way through the floor, with punchy drum programming and dark vocals adding energy to the groove and helping make a big impact. On a different vibe entirely is the slick minimal house of 'Brick Lane', which has tender piano chords over rubbery beats. It's one for the back rooms and the Berlin heads, and oozes soul.

Gatti then steps up with the brilliance of 'Bamboleo Mood,' a chunky bit of machine house funk. Crunchy hits offset a warped synth line and sci-fi motifs colour in the airwaves to fantastic effect. Last of all, the excellent 'Like Mento' is a perfectly programmed bit of electriconic music with fluttering drums and hits, freaky hooks and urgent bass that carry you late into the after party.

This is evidence once again that Bamboleo is on route to becoming one of 2019's most vital outlets.

von Treasure Seeking featuring Dexter and Virginia auf Ostgut Ton.

Als Steffis zweites Album Power Of Anonymity Ende November 2014 erschien, war
die Dexter-Koproduktion - Treasure Seeking das herausstechendste Stück der Platte:
erhebend, perkussionslastig und mit Virginias verführerischen Vocals versehen. Für
die neue Treasure Seeking 12 wurde nicht nur der Originalversion die gesamte
Länge der 45rpm-A-Seite zugewiesen - für die Versions haben Steffi, Virginia und
Dexter wieder ganz von vorne begonnen und die Electro-Soundästhetik des Albums
aufgegriffen.

Während die neue - 130 BPM Version gefüllte Clubtanzflächen mit wirbelnden Synth-
Stichen und einem durchgängigen Uptempo-Rhythmus betont, beginnt die Diep
Version' mit kräftigen Claps und einer pulsierenden Bassline, bis eine Reihe
beruhigender Streicher die Gesamtstimmung des Tracks verändern - aus einem
dunklen Raum in Richtung des Lichts.

Artist previously known for his work as “Mirage Man” returns as “Kaltstam” presenting a three tracker of techno and electro jams.

The streamlined yet gloomy opening track “Reach 4 the heat only if you’re bustin’” sets an energetic tone for the release to start with. This should cater your needs easily if you’re into dancing in the more aggressive manner.

“The Divide” interprets nordic melancholy in the form of trancey pads, echoed stabs and a distorted bass drum. An observant listener might pick up some classic breakbeat vibes from the drum section as well.

“Cattle prod” is the oddball of the trio. Is it nu school breaks? Is it electro? Does it bang? ... Find out by listening to the title track of the record. - Play it fast or slow, it’s your call.

Kommuna is back with the third instalment of our label series. The name “Unified Diversity” reflects on the variety of music explored throughout the EP by our Barcelona-based crew members. Kicking things off with the collaboration of pekkuliar and driahn, “Ravestasy” is an ode to the UK 90's rave and acid house culture while driahn’s “OMCSU” is an exploration of emotional electronic soundscapes.

The B side is focused on the 2-step UK Garage sound with contributions from Crump and CMYK. Heavy basslines, choppy vocals & infectious rhythms make “Division One” and “2step4cheese” two dancefloor weapons for everyone´s bag.

Jaga Jazzist kehren am 24. April 2020 mit ihrem neuen Album „Pyramid“ zurück, auf dem das legendäre norwegische achtköpfige Kollektiv tief in seine Post-Rock-, Jazz- und Psychedelic-Einflüsse eintaucht. Es ist ihr erstes Album seit „Starfire“ aus dem Jahr 2015, ihr neuntes Album in einer mittlerweile vier Jahrzehnte währenden Karriere, aber es markiert das Debüt der Gruppe auf Brainfeeder, dem in L.A. beheimateten Label von Flying Lotus. Auf „Pyramid“ haben Jaga Jazzist einen kosmischen Sound entwickelt, der zu ihrem neuen Label passt, während es ihre Vorgänger, wie die 80er-Jahre Jazzband Out To Lunch und dem norwegischen Synthesizer-Guru Ståle Storløkken bis hin zu Zeitgenossen wie Tame Impala, Todd Terje und Jon Hopkins zitiert. Jeder der vier langen Beiträge des Albums entwickelt sich über sorgfältig ausgearbeitete Partituren, in denen sich die technisch-farbigen Fäden der Stücke verträumt entfalten.

Die Band, die von Lars Horntveth und seinen Kompositionen angeführt wird, nahm einen sehr direkten Weg zur Entstehung von „Pyramid“. Während sie bei „Starfire“ die Idee einer traditionellen Studioaufnahme auf die Spitze trieben, bei der verschiedene Mitglieder in der Aufnahmekabine ein- und ausgingen, um über zwei Jahre hinweg zu schreiben, aufzunehmen und zu experimentieren, war der Prozess hinter „Pyramid“ fast das genaue Gegenteil: es dauerte nur zwei Wochen, um die Aufnahmen fertigzustellen. Beide Platten wurden zwar vom selben neugierigen, experimentellen Geist angetrieben, aber die Prozesse waren sehr unterschiedlich. Sie zogen sich in ein abgelegenes Waldstudio im benachbarten Schweden zurück und bunkerten sich dort täglich 12 Stunden lang ein.

Unter Evolution versteht man gemeinhin die allmähliche Veränderung der vererbbaren
Merkmale einer Population von organischen Strukturen von Generation zu Generation.
Überträgt man diesen Gedanken aus der biologischen Welt in die musikalische von Northern
Lite, so trägt jedes neue Album die signifikanten Merkmale seiner Vorgänger in sich, aber erfindet
dennoch den typischen Northern Lite Sound auf spielerische Art neu.
Evolution, das 13. Studioalbum von Northern Lite, gibt ihrem unstillbaren Drang nach Härte und
Geschwindigkeit Raum, ohne jedoch die existenzielle Notwendigkeit von Liebe zu verleugnen.
Sich ihrer eigenen Vergänglichkeit bewusst geworden, gehen Kubat, Bohn und Rödel, nun jenseits
der vierzig, schonungslos mit sich ins Gericht. Weder textlich noch musikalisch werden
Gefangene gemacht. Von zärtlich quecksilbrigen Pop Balladen, bis hin zu neuen Hymnen, die die
Kraft haben, ganze Generationen im Herzen zu verbinden, nimmt jeder Song des neuen Albums
seine Hörer mit auf eine Reise zu sich selbst.
Im Ergebnis bilden hier Inhalt und Form eine rauschhafte Koexistenz, die nur durch die
meisterhafte Präzision der musikalischen Ausführung noch Steigerung erfährt.

Neil Landstrumm is among those producers who really don’t need an introduction. Since his first record on Peacefrog in 1995, he pretty much covered every aspect of electronic music, embodied the spirit of the independent producer and build his very own brand of controlled chaos. Never one to be stuck in a loop or monotony, his music ranges from unorthodox techno to all kinds of genre-defying compositions. For his Running Back debut, he serves a frenzy dish that feels like the soundtrack to a space pirate opera. Five tracks of vhs-beta-electro-funk, love ballads for aliens, horror house, silhouette-techno and neuromancing dancing. The opening cut 'Prolegomenes' welcomes you into the project with jokes about sampling, showing a light-hearted attitude to the fact samples make up a large percentage of this warm and jazzy album.
After the enticing intro track comes the funk-filled and familiar style of house that Art Of Tones fans both love and respect, with upbeat melodies and infectious grooves it's fair to say this release is a real feel good mood lifter.

The "INSOC EP" contains the first official recordings from the legendary Minneapolis music collective Information Society led by founder/producer Paul Robb.
Originally released on vinyl in 1983 the EP became extremely difficult to find. You Can't Defeat Her, When You Meet Her You'll Get What I Said B2 Marlon Hoffstadt - 2000MG Floating Info: Retrograde returns late September with 'In Reverse Pt.1', a various artist package featuring Matteo Luis, Natureboy Gold, Terron and Marlon Hoffstadt. Berlin based imprint Retrograde marks its fith release here and once again welcomes back a selection of the collective recording artists already featured on the label such as label head-honcho Natureboy Gold, FFRR/Play It Down artist Marlon Hoffstatd, also co-founder of the label and tipped as a Future Star by Pete Tong on Radio 1. Matteo Luis also makes a return following appearances on two EP's for the label prior to this, while an exciting addition to the catalogue comes in the shape of Terron, most notably known for their work with Young Turks sub-label WHITIES. Up first on the release is Matteo Luis' 'Out Here' setting the tone with ethereal pad swells, organic rhythms and choppy bass hits while a soft and brooding melodic tension subtly unwinds throughout the composition. Natureboy Gold's 'Eternal' follows and employs a similarly airy synth feel while introducing a robust tom- driven rhythmic approach to create an understated dance-floor focused contribution. Opening the flip is Terron's cryptically named 'No.57, You Can't Defeat Her, When You Meet Her You'll Get What I Said' which drops the tempo to a low slung feel with dubbed out bass licks, bumpy percussion and spiraling bass drones to create something idiosyncratic and psychedelic. Marlon Hoffstadt steps up to round off the package next with '2000MG Floating' delivering a raw energetic workout with soaring 80's tinged leads, snaking bass grooves and frenetic percussion.

We are proud to present the second record on Axces, which comes from our close friend Frits Caroe aka Popmix. Recorded in 2017 in the Nordvest Auto facilities, the three tracks on his debut give a sense of Frits' mastery of effective, simplistic melodies.

The A-side kicks off with Funtema, a candy like IDM tune whose strong melodic core will be stuck in your head for days. Next up is Klub Frimis, a Detroit meets Mario Kart DJ tool that we guarantee will rock any party. The neon lights that decorate a dive bar's window cast a vivid reflection in rainwater on the pavement outside, as steam rises from deep beneath the ground. A slow pan across the scene, past alleys cast in shadow, twilit corners & glass doorways streaked with the mist of humid bodies fuming inside: the camera catches the denizens of an unnamed city, studying faces heavy with secrets too sad to bear. Cut to the motorway. Sleek cars barrel through the night. Sirens moan. Engines rev. You're behind the wheel, over the edge as the credits roll.

This film does not exist — but the soundtrack does. Symmetry is Johnny Jewel & Nat Walker, & Themes For an Imaginary Film is their two-hour cinematic opus pokus, a sprawling score for a movie that screens only in your mind. A 'conceptual tangent between Glass Candy, Chromatics, Mirage, & Desire's more abstract sides,' as Jewel himself describes the project, Symmetry is a vigorous, electric, restless exploration of ideas on the bleeding edge of instrumental sound. Analog synthesizers roll and crest, drums collide, keys cascade clear & crystalline. These themes evoke the phantasmic images that inspired them: urgent and ethereal, sinister & romantic. It's a neo-noir epic of pink fog & femme fatales hidden behind rain drenched windshields after dark.

"Time To Dream But Never Seen” is the 6th album by Keith Seatman and his his first release for Castles in Space. Keith Seatman’s music is an anachronistically repurposed assemblage of sounds, melodies and technologies plundered from different time zones. 'Time To Dream But Never Seen', however, is far from being a haphazard and spontaneous
collage. Keith’s busy and dense soundworld is composed through a very deliberate and painstaking process.

Unlikely musical and sonic juxtapositions artfully evoke a sense of place and narrative. This latest excursion into bad-trip psychedelia is shot through with wistful and whimsical melodies and occasional haunted voices. On 'Last One In', for example, what could be a chirpy and exciting theme tune to a 1970's kid’s adventure series is modulated into a minor key by a sinister synth bass line and menaced by a stomping bovver-boy rhythm.

In the opening track, 'On to the Pier & Down to the Sea', the amusement arcade din is submerged in a watery digital swirl during. Likewise, on 'Tippy Toe Tippy Toe' the tiddly-om-pom-pom of the pier is heard from the point of view some approaching aquatic creature or perhaps by a drowning man.

The closing section of the album shifts focus from the seafront to it's rustic precursor, the mayday fair. Something weird comes to the village in 'Waiting by the Window', sounding as if late period Radiophonic Workshop (when they got hold of expensive synths) had popped back 15 years to work with their boffinish tape wielding forbears. It summons an atmosphere like a Nigel Kneale drama or one of those folk-horror inspired episodes of Dr.Who.

Finally, the album’s closing title track seems to offer a chance of escape to a more rustic idyll with melancholy mellotron flute and mumbled nursery rhymes. But as the album closes it feels like a relentlessly inescapable holiday-special steam train drags us back On to the Pier & Down to the Sea.
