Mod Mod Ranglin is a fusion of Ska and Caribbean instrumentals by Ernest Ranglin recorded in 1966 while Ska was changing towards Rocksteady. Although Ernest Ranglin recorded 8 solo albums at Federal Records, Mod Mod Ranglin was the only album with Ska instrumentals, interestingly. The album consists of classic Ska, Mento and Carribean songs of all times. From the start to the end, Ernie's guitar playing flutters like Caribbean breeze. The instrumental song entitled 'Felicia' is a perfect number for all Ska lovers.

Trinidad born legendary guitarist, Lynn Taitt, who brought the first wave of Rocksteady to the Island, and Gladdy Anderson who is well known as a Skatalites' pianist, got together to record this Rocksteady instrumental album 'Glad Sounds' at Federal Studio in 1968. Released from the Merritone label, which was managed under Federal, the album depicts the heyday and best sound of Rocksteady as well as the label itself. This album is for the first time reissued by Dub Store Records. The album tracks consist mainly of cover versions of popular tracks, which were produced by Coxsone Dodd, Bunny Lee and Sonia Pottinger. Lynn Taitt and Gladstone Anderson added gentle flavors to their versions by their distinctive instrumental plays. Federal's recording facility made possible to maintain this sound quality. This is certainly another classic album to add to your collection!

Six wind instruments and a drum set were used to create the deliberately minimalistic yet extremely powerful formula of expression by a bunch of unstable, wacky minds who eventually come out with the music that most listeners will happily associate with the Balkan concept of sound and performance style.

The project originally started out as a respectful homage to south-eastern European musical tradition, then, shaped by seven creative individuals of various musical provenience and temperament, developed its own soulful voice that delivers the strong attitude of rawness and purity on one hand and idiosyncratic elaboration on the other.

This musical narration of Tsigunz to be found on their debut album is by no way literal or scholastically serious in its reference to the roots being quoted. It is rather meant to carry ideas encoded in the name of the band - boldness, non-conformity and never satisfied wander-lust diluted constantly by joyful carelessness.

The unique character of Tsigunz Fanfara Avantura has been already recognized internationally in terms of the number of invitations to perform across the Europe - aside from multitude of gigs in its homeland (Poland) the ensemble also gigged so far in Serbia (Guca Festival), France, Portugal, Hungary (Sziget Festival), Russia, Czech Republic, Moldova, Ukrain and Germany.

Limited vinyl reissue of 'Dance Dance', an amazing lost gem of an album from the little-known Miss Misty. Originally released in 1980 on the short-lived but top-quality reggae label Jamaica Sound, this ultra-rare slab of heavyweight sister funk enjoys a rock-solid musical backing including the masterful Sly Dunbar on drums. Jam-packed with amazing cuts, the LP jumps genres from great floor-friendly disco groovers such as the lilting title track and bubbling club favourite 'Can't Stop' through the bass-heavy chugging reggae-infused 'Whenever You Are Ready' to the tough, crisply percussive and raw-edged funk of 'Disco Kid', 'I Don't Need Your Love' and a fantastically sleazy take on The Salsoul Orchestra's disco classic 'Right Size'. Another standout is the schizophrenic closing track 'Loving You' which starts as a beautifully quirky ballad with Miss Misty's smooth soulful vocals overlaying a base of futuristic arrhythmic synth bass squiggles before changing into a full-blooded piano-driven disco stomper! *Restless Marshaits hailing from Geneva are based around the core of Jil and Stuff. They released a sizeable amount of new roots classics throughout the1990s and 2000's. Recently becoming active again, they are best remembered for the sessions they recorded at Kingston, Jamaica in the mid/late 90s with legendary musicians such as Vin Gordon, Deadly Headly and Dizzy Moore. The original releases have been since long deleted, but some are now unearthed thanks to Partial Records.
*Recorded back in 1999 on the `King of Kings' rhythm, this is a previously unreleased vocal cut by the legendary Cornel Campbell - who's worked with Studio One and with producers such as Bunny Lee and Joe Gibbs. He's currently still active and works with Soothsayers and Jerry Dammers' Special A.K.A Orchestra.

The Sound Systems of Jamaica were always the people's radio station.
Tunes were tried and tested in the lion's den of the dance to see which songs rose to the top and became the most popular.
This was the litmus test and the first step to a tracks commercial release to capitalise its hotness on the circuit.
Then the Dub/Version hit big in Jamaica in the early to mid 70's this was also the case and many times the version cut of a track would even prove more popular than its vocal counterpart.
We have compiled some great 70's dub plates that rocked the Sound Systems in fine style...

Some people might be surprised with this release, as Cubiculo Records first established itself as a stricltly digital reggae label, but after the release of Digid feat Junior Dread 'Crucial Stepper' broke the mould, we started to think about the style of the next release. Mystery solved! A pure rootsy tune for your ears that will put you a smile from cheek to cheek.
The Jamaica All Stars were born after the release of the movie 'Portraits Of Jamaican Music', according to its director Pierre Marc Simonin, 'Bringing back these legends on stage was for me the way to honor them.'
More than this, the idea was to create new opportunities for the people to meet them in different ways, especially during workshops. It has been done and well be done again with the joyful enthusiasm of young students that are happy to meet Jamaica stars, Sparrow confirms: 'Just like in the Alpha Boy´s School (of which he is the musical director), we are here to give happiness and teach the little we know.

*`Adwa Version' is a different version side to the one previously released.

Spin off band from EPITAPH's AGGROLITES, THE BULLETS are a mix of true LA oldies and early Jamaican reggae. Think WAR meets THE UPSETTERS circa 1970 and you get an idea how crucial this brown eyed reggae soul is! 10 tracks of three part harmonies and bubbly organ. Now comes...
