The Lost & Found series charges ahead, with killer unreleased tunes from Earl Sixteen - Both sides with dub
Earl cut several songs for Channel 1 around 1984, but only the then-topical "Jerry Curls" ever made it to release. Here's two heavy bombs from Maxfield Avenue.

It is late 1972. Six emigres from Congo, Benin and Cameroon find themselves in Pavia, near Milan in Italy. Sharing a passion for music and dance rooted in African culture they form a band called M'Bamina ("Lightning") they and stage their dance and music show in Le Rotonde di Garlasco. Two years of hard work and gigging follow before they make their first album "African Roll", released in 1975.

Following a European tour in 1976 then find themselves performing in Cameroon for a landmark concert at the Stade de Yaounde with Claude Francois (French Pop star and the writer of the original version of Sinatras My Way) and African music legend Manu Dibango. As it often happened in the 70s when talented ambitious bands met Manu Dibango, a move to France and a record deal with Fiesta Records (Decca) soon followed.

In Paris 1977 the band find themselves opening for a James Brown's concert Au Pavillon de Paris. By now the band is a well-oiled machine they have honed their live shows and sound by distilling a pure and fresh blend of R.& B, Rumba, Afro-Cuban, Funk and traditional African. M'Bamina then hook up with French producer Philippe Brejean to record their second album "Experimental" in Sysmo studios (a hot bed of album activity and French production music at the time). The results capture the band at the peak of their powers.

The core of M'Bamina was made up of Samba Ngo (guitar and vocals), Antoine Nkouka Batenda (guitar and vocals), Bernard Bifuanibo (bass), Jean-Marie Bolangassa (percussion), Anselme Tambakassa (congas) et Ligali Ali Amidou (percussion and vocals). The band would go on to make 2 further albums before disbanding in 1985.

Cubiculo Records teams up again with the french producer B-No. After his first release on vinyl featuring the veteran Trevor Junior with People Are Changing'now comes the time for his second release on our imprint.

B-No comes again with one of his classic riddim styles, a mixture between the early digital and rub-a-dub.

On Side A comes the french singer Peter Youthman with Sad Feeling', a really conscious and powerfull tune with focus on sadness and problems regarding homeless people. Side B features the upcoming american singer Tuli Ranks with his strong rub-a-dub and deejay influences he oposites to Sad Feeling' and unleashes some love lyrics on Over Me'.

The artwork tries and conotate the Sad Feeling' with Night and side B Over Me' with Day and sun and shows the contrast between both lyrics.

Side A features two tracks, vocal and riddim, where on Side B features an extended version with dub.

Uptown, with Why You All In MY Face, he essentially picks up where their last white label, Fraxinus' flip of DJ Diamond's B-More classic Hey You Knuckle Heads left us; warping a bouncing B-more chassis with eye-quivering FX, handbrake turns, and the kind of sustained subbass tremors that make your clem fandango.
Downtown, he performs dancehall voodoo on CYPHR's Brace, screwing the ting to a slower tempo meshed with I-Octane & Bounty Killer's vocal to Double Trouble for maximum danger.
Trust these are tried and tested for all DJ and dancer...

Thomas Blanchot, 40 years old percussionist and drummer, started his production structure Mato Production in 2001, where he collaborated and directed for many projects.

Composer, music publisher and producer of music for TV, advertising, films and records, he also began a career as reggae producer since 2006, under the name "MATO". Since then he's released music through various projects concepts, coming out through labels such as Makasound, EDR Records or Big Singles. In the meantime he developed a real trademark: taking over classics French, Hip-Hop, or Pop song, into roots reggae-dub new versions.

Besides since 2010, Mato has built a solid reputation thanks to his hot remixes of Hip-Hop classics on Stix Records. And in 2014, he presented Homework Dub, giving his own vision of the multiplatinum classic album by Daft Punk, quickly acclaimed internationally as a true performance.

Today, Mato is back with another target for his special skills as a tailor of reggae music, this time focusing on classic songs from original soundtracks. The result is an album titled Hollywoo Dub, which is planned for release later this year on Stix Records.

On this first brilliant 2 tracks single, he also delivers two another renditions, First, he takes over the amazing 'T' Stands for Trouble' by Marvin Gaye for a cosmic reggae trip, then he provides a new life to Enter The Dragon' by legendary composer Lalo Schiffrin.

Raised on opposite sides of the Atlantic, these two artists have combined their talents to compose Lost Myself. This musical voyage blends New-York's hard-bop aesthetics and reggae-inspired elements, with modern jazz, for a fresh spin on classics and original compositions.

Vocalist Shola Adisa-Farrar, a native of Oakland, was born into a family of artists and intellectuals. Shola began singing at the age of eight, influenced by her Jamaican upbringing and the soul and jazz classics that played in her home. At a young age, Shola garnered attention for her distinct raspy voice, which enabled her to perform a variety of musical styles. After living in New-York for 8 years, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Music, she is now a true resident in Paris. Shola spends her time travelling to perform and develop her musical style. This album is her explorations into Jazz.

Florian Pellissier, Parisian pianist and composer, is known for the authenticity and hard-bop style he brings to his music. A graduate of The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Florian has spearheaded his own quintet along with the release of two successful albums: Le diable et son train (2012), and Biches Bleues (2014). Florian has also contributed his musical talent to jazz and funk projects such as Setenta, Camarao Orkestra, Chevere Que Son, Cotonete and GUTS.

During Shola's year-long residence as a performer for Le Reservoir's Sunday Jazz brunch, Hot Casa Records' honchos introduced Shola to Florian, sensing they would musically complement each other. In July 2013, their collaboration began, bonding over their love of jazz autobiographies, swapping music, and improvising together.

The result is eight spiritually-tinged jazz tracks recorded live on analog equipment to maintain the traditional quality, from sultry introspections to rhythmic compositions, grounded in intense emotion. Included are jazz classics such as Feeling Good' and I Have a Dream', a tribute to the music of Herbie Hancock, who has influenced Florian since his formative years in New York, to which Shola penned lyrics.

By the mid-seventies, the profile of Jamaica's largest and most successful export was chiefly headed by Bob Marley and The Wailers with their exotic and exciting brand of Jamaican roots music. By
1975, the USA was grasping the phenomenon with the release of Toots and The Maytals' 1973 album Funky Kingston. It was a move that would inevitably open doors for the band and while they could never match Bob Marley's or Peter Tosh's commercial appeal abroad, their significance and legacy in reggae music is unmatched.
Riding high on their new recognition, Toots and The Maytals rolled into Los Angeles, performing a blistering set of new and old material. That night, the Roxy played host to an explosion of authentic, Jamaican rock steady reggae sounds in a show that recalls the legacies of James Brown, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and Bob Marley's own appearance here in 1976.

Last year's release of "The Midlands Roots Explosion Volume One", saw the culmination of many years work spent tracking down artists and tapes to shine a light on one of England's greatest, yet most overlooked musical scenes, the home grown take on reggae that briefly flourished from the mid-seventies and had almost disappeared little more than a decade later.

Volume Two starts off in exactly the same way as its predecessor with Handsworth's biggest musical exports, the legendary Steel Pulse and "Bun Dem produced by the legendary Dennis Bovell. Our first act new to the series are Natural Mystique with their 1982 single "Generals" whilst tracks 3, 4 and 5 round off the missing A and B sides from some of the most popular artists we included last time with Iganda's "Mark Of Slavery", Carnastoan's "Sweet Melody" and yet another Generals, this one from Musical Youth featuring the same line up that caused so much surprise and positive feedback with their inclusion on Volume One.

"Africans" from Bass Dance featuring a second appearance from former Steel Pulse guitarist/vocalist Basil Gabbidon, is the first of four previously unreleased tracks. The other three that we've managed to track down on long forgotten tapes, are Leicester's Groundation with "Rebel" recorded a few years before "Fa Ward" which we included last time, "Cannot Take It Away", another lost gem from Handsworth's Mystic Foundation and "Equalisation" another lost slice of early eighties roots from Wolverhampton's Capital Letters.
The late Linton Haughton is another new name with his scarce Shield label 12" cut "Hustling Man". Also making their first appearances, are Afrikan Star with "Run And Hide" originally issued in 1980 on Black Vinyl Records and from the Crucial Music stable, Sledge Hammer with "Ruled By The Stone" released as a 7" single on the Crucial Music Inc. label. The remaining three tracks are provided by label favourites and key players in the Birmingham scene, Black Symbol, Sceptre and Eclipse and showcase songs from the individual albums we've previously released by each band.

Derrick Morgan ia one of the greats of Jamaican music, he is the undisputed King of Ska.
But his recording career dod not stop in 1967 when the sound of Ska slowed down into Rocksteady.
Nor did it stop in 1968 when Rocksteady evolved into the early sound of Reggae.
The set you have here was first released in 1974 when Reggae was King,the album carried the name 'In the Mood'..but also had the working title 'This is Derrick Morgan'.
A title in the world of Reggae carrying the moniker would normally be used to introduce new singer and be his showcase album.
In this case in could be used to reintroduce the singer Derrick Morgan to the new Reggae sound.
But we feel someone of Derrick's calibre needs no introduction as his voice works on any rhythms put his way.
So sit back and enjoy one of the greats of Jamaican music showing the world with the help of producer Bunny Lee that he can roll with the Reggae sound....respect...

"Afro Cookie" is the first single to be taken from David Hanke's forthcoming album 'Moyo Wangu' under his Renegades Of Jazz name. 'Moyo Wangu' (My heart) reflects on the years he spent during his early childhood with his parents in Arusha/Tanzania, showcasing twelve songs made out of his love for Afrofunk and recalling the time he spent there. the first song "Afro Cookie" has the distinctive Renegades Of Jazz sound, a modern Afrofunk anthem, which was also the starting point back for the 'Moyo Wangu' album. On the flip side, the track 'Pounding Song' with it's traditional sung chants is a work song in a dust infused uptempo Afrojazz treatment.

Next 12' Vinyl will feature the legendary producer Dougie Conscious on the riddim and the great singers - King General and Pupa Jim.

A relic of the track 'The Model' by Kraftwerk is on the heart of this riddim where Dougie creates an unique and 'killer' digital Reggae with electro influenced style. There is not much to say regarding the deadly combination on the vocals by King General and Pupa Jim, simply amazing.

Side A features two tracks, vocal and riddim, where on Side B features the Dub version.
The artwork is once again done by our fellow friend Gil Nunes who created a unique and 'trippy' optical illusion.

Soul Jazz Records are releasing Count Ossie and The Rasta Family's long lost reggae album 'Man From Higher Heights' (originally released in 1983), digitally remastered and with full original artwork. This release follows on from the earlier release of Count Ossie and The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari 'Tales of Mozambique' (1975), also by Soul Jazz Records. Recorded in Kingston, Jamaica, somewhere between the last Mystic Revelation album and the 1983 official release of 'Man From Higher Heights', it remains unclear whether this album is a mixture of original recordings overlayed with additional players, or Ossie's post-Mystic Revelation players remaining true to the spirit of Count Ossie (who had died in a car crash in 1976). Either way, it is a fascinating and successful blend of heavyweight Rastafarian roots rhythms and drumming alongside deep jazz improvisation and tripped out psychedelic fuzz guitar. Count Ossie is the central character in the development of Rastafarian roots music, an almost mythical and iconic figure. His importance in bringing Rastafarian music to a populist audience is matched only by Bob Marley's promotion of the faith internationally in the 1970s. Count Ossie and the Group's Man From Higher Heights remains one of the most elusive of his highly progressive Rastafarian inspired recordings, the final release in Count Ossie's career.

Incredible, hyperactive gabber/jungle/radio advert mix/collage from Belgium's DJ David Coquelin and Lil' Raver Cloarec - a.k.a. bosses of the PRR! PRR! label - for Low Jack's Editions Gravats label, arriving hot on the heels of their superb Action Mix of New Beat and early techno (check their soundcloud!).
Strafing a myriad styles from UB40 thru a handful of his own productions as An Ultimate DJ, plus cuts from N.M.O., and Eugene Ward, via stacks of cheeky radio jingles (both real and hyperstitous), stabs and samples of Resident Evil, plus loads of Jungle and Gabba - he's brilliantly stretching the definition of what constitutes a mixtape.
There's a momentum, but it's totally broken up and manic, and not without a sense of humour, dissecting everything into 30 second bursts of activity with an ADD approach to dis-arrangement.
Like the label's last cassette release from Antinote boss Zaltan, it's super collectible and hugely enjoyable...we reckon this one's a big party mixtape = highly recommended!!
