Released late last year Tosca's 'Outta Here' saw the duo of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Hubert rip up the rule book and start again. Having spent two decades and seven albums practically defining downtempo, chill-out music here was an album with one thing on its mind, the dancefloor.
Still some traditions are worth maintaining and so like with each of their previous albums the band now present 'Shopska', a reworked version of 'Outta Here' that puts each of the albums tracks into a radically new perspective from tough 3am Techno and bouncy Electronica through to spaced out Dub and beyond.

Osbert Maddo (a.k.a Maddo, the Bionic Singer, Papa Maddo was brought up in Easter Kingston. He went to the legendary Alpha Boys Primary School and then to Excelsior high school. As a youth, he and his brother UU Maddo used to listen to Sound Systems such as Sir Stanford, Sir Norman Arrows and Phase 1. The sound Sir Stanford with who he used to sing initally transformed to Stylistics (Maddo's favourite singing group at the time) and a man called Danhai became the owner and DJ.
Cubiculo Records got in touch with Maddo on the Summer of 2015 to voice a 'Smuggel Riddim' by Casio Love, Maddo instantly fell in love with it and agree to work with Cubiculo and Casio Love to make his comeback tune as he didn't have any music released for years. After sending us the vocal Maddo was asking for the final mix every day and week as he was feeling the tune a lot and he wanted to start pushing it on the US, on the day we sent him the final mix we got the most unexpected and sad reply we could possibly be waiting for, Osbert had pass away the day before we finished the mix.

This is so far the most special release Cubiculo has done, it's more than a release, it's a tribute to this great singer and we are very proud to be releasing his ever last recording. Part of profits will go to his son and wife that have been supporting this release since we started to work with Maddo until today.

After the success of their debut performance, Matuki saw airplay from Bristol based DJ Hiphoppapotamus, and Miles Chambers of Lyrical Minded as well as BCFM, Bristol City Radio, Radio Ujima and Radio Helsinki, as an energizing sound bled into the airwaves. Touring the UK festival circuit, performing at Secret Garden Party, Green Man, Farmfest, Kendal Calling, Glastonbury to name a few, saw Matuki turn unassuming audiences into dancing frenzies, wherever they play.

1980, im Jahr des Kölner Aswad-Konzertes, kam ein Film in die englischen Kinos, der das Leben jamaikanischer UK-Immigranten sowie deren Konfrontationen mit der Polizei und National Front als Spielfilm inszenierte: "Babylon". Ursprünglich finanzierte die BBC den Film mit, doch weil ihr das Thema zu brisant wurde, zog sie sich aus der Produktion zurück. Der Hauptdarsteller von "Babylon" stammte aus Guyana und hieß Brinsley Forde. Er war der Leadsänger einer Band aus dem Westen Londons, die sich 1974 in der Gegend um Ladbroke Grove unter dem Namen Aswad mit dem Schlagzeuger Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye
und drei weiteren Musikern, die in Köln schon nicht mehr dabei waren, gefunden hatte. Der Bandname stammt aus dem Arabischen und war als Statement gemeint, denn Aswad bedeutet Schwarz! Als Aswad für die Rockpalast-Aufzeichnung im Studio-B des Westdeutschen Rundfunks auftrat, ahnte niemand, dass die Band durch Top-Hits wie "Give A Little Love" und "Shine" einmal Popstar-Status erlangen würde. Das Konzert von 1980 zeigt die Gruppe jedoch in einem frühen Karrierestadium: vom Punk beeinflusst, rau, ungestüm und lange, bevor sie neben Steel Pulse zur wichtigsten Reggae-Formation Großbritanniens aufstieg. For it's third release, Sorry For This Records welcomes Italian innovator Roberto Clementi to its stables, providing two lush cuts of deep techno and then invites Steve O'Sullivan to slow things down a little...

First up Clementi bring us Sedate Love, a throbbing club cruiser with a constantly evolving groove-box. Organically morphing pad play and analogue percussion punctuate the rhythm stylistically whilst Roberto underpins the entire track with a thunderous, grooving sub bass! Whereas Start Not Straight, Clementi's second offering is a thumping analogue techno behemoth, underlaid rhythmically by bubbling acidic synthesis and resonant pad stabs.

Finally 90s UK dub techno legend Steve O'Sullivan once again breaks out the tape echo and dons his Blue train alias for a special ultra minimalistic dub version of Start Not Straight keeping the beats slow and the subs pitched even lower! Steve slowly releases heady passages of spoken word whilst giving the feedback on his delay unit a real workout! Real after hours stuff!

Reissue of this super rare 12" from the legendary Tapper Zukie! 'Visions Of Love' is a vocal lead groove fest, with bumping bass lines and throwback house beats, whilst the B-side lays out a dubbier version of the original. Proper floor filler material here! Comes in hand stamped, light brown sleeves. Limited and completely essential!

NZ based artist Akcept joins up with AMIT's AMAR label for a journey into Dub/Reggae inspired Bass music. Akcept is an artist who is just on the cusp of breaking through having been picked up by Truth's Deep Dark & Dangerous label for their recent compilation and about to appear on NZ's very own Averted Vision label. A solid producer who's making his mark with this release.

The label produced some of the most essential UK roots reggae with a string of artists recording for the label including Martin Campbell, Donette Forte, G.T. Moore and many more.
* Reading-based Mene Man recorded a handful of tunes for the label including `Who Are You' (reissued in 2014 on a Partial Records 10' - PRTL10002) and `Save This World' (reissued simultaneously with this release on a Partial Records 7' PRTL7035).
* A vocal roots tune with blazing horns, `Dub Them' got serious play on Jah Shaka Sound System at the time of the original release in the late 90's.

The Apostles were disciples of a heavy kind of psychedelic soul/rock fusion. After The Funkees left for London, they stepped into the breach to become the champions of East Nigeria's flourishing post-war music scene. Based in Aba, and led by guitarist and charismatic chancer Walton Arungwa, they laid down a couple of singles with the city's newly-formed BEN label. EMI liked what they heard and in 1976 whisked the band to Lagos to record The Apostles with the legendary Emmanual Odenusi at the controls. A heavy mix of wailing guitar, swirling organ and James Brown-style vocals, it became a fixture in every east Nigerian home. 'Never Too Late' sets the stage with a scorching lead break that most believe was played by guitar-slinger-for-hire, Felix 'Feladay' Odey. Drummer Joel Madubuike and bass player Henry Tandu lay down the rock solid groove for Benji Davidson's righteous organ lines in 'Inflation' and 'Highway to Success.' And each is invested with an urgency from battle-hardened vocals of Chyke Fussion, a vetran of the Biafra war. Don't be fooled by the angelic white outfits worn on the cover of The Apostles. These guys were BAD. And 'Never Too Late' could well be the best Afro Rock song ever recorded.

By the mid 1970's in Nigeria, the Biafran War was a distant memory and the music scene in the eastern city of Aba was booming again. Bands like The Funkees, The Wings and The Apostles grabbed the headlines, but the more interesting stuff was coming from smaller groups like the Friimen. The Friimen, or the Friimen Muzik Company to use their official name, were influenced as much by pre-Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees as Jimi Hendrix and James Brown. In Beni Tudumey they had the best keyboardist in the city, and in Dan Igbaji, Charlie Eze and Ken Okogbue its tightest rhythm section. Throw in Gbemi Saka Toju channeling his inner Barry Gibb and you had a band quite unlike any other in the country. The result is We Can Get it On, a hybrid of West Coast ballads and dancefloor chuggers. One moment they are thanking God for making the mountains ('The Creator'), the next salaciously suggesting it's time to make the mountains move ('We Can Get It On'). Some of the songs simply state the obvious ('Music Makes You Move'.) However, it's the track, 'Salt Sweet Style', that sums up the Friimen best: We have the salt. We have the sweet. We have the style.' It's all present and accounted for on We Can Get It On.

Fortuna Records have gone all out and reissued one of the most insane, far out records to have ever come out of Lebanon. Originally released in 1980 ,Raja Zahr's "Drum Sequence" is a 'get crazy', experimental disco monster, utilizing Middle Eastern percussion and analog synthesisers, so mind boggling they would keep any dancefloor begging for more. And there is more. Two additional tracks of Lebanese percussion madness by Raja make this an essential triple banger previously known only to serious collectors with cash to burn. Meticulously remastered for club use and approved by Mr Zahr himself, this crispy 12" is one for the freaks. So go on then.

We dropped Bosq's Tumbala EP digitally late last year and the response was so wild that we decided it needed a vinyl release. So we pressed the 4 track hot pack of Multi Culti beats on a limited run of 500 jungle green records. In case you missed it, here's what the EP is all about: Soul Clap Records welcomes one of the most unique artists in the game and he goes by the name Bosq. A longtime Boston homie, Bosq (also known for his work with DJ Kon and the Whiskey Barons) first astounded us with his "Orquestra Y Madera" album (Ubiquity Records) which put a modern dance floor twist on Afro/Latin Funk and provided some of our biggest DJ bombs that year. Continuing to build the bridge we released his edit of Fela Kuti's Opposite People (Gator Boots), collaborated on "Higher" for our DOTC Vol. 2 compilation (Soul Clap Records) and we remixed his single "Bad For Me" from his sophomore "Celestial Strut" album (Ubiquity Records). This release is also accompanied by a sister record of remixes by Auntie Flo and Caserta on limited yellow vinyl.

Over the last decade Dub FX has played almost every major festival worldwide including Glastonbury, Coachella, Sziget, Boomtown, Shambala and Exit.
