This time the Tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by Wayne McGhie. "The Love You Save" was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45!

In 1972, Wayne signed with record producer Greg Hambleton and, with former members of the Hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including "Love Is The Answer" and "The Love You Save" at Toronto Sound Studios. "Love Is The Answer" was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however "The Love You Save" was never relaesed.

Now, more than four decades later, the music of Wayne McGhie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

'Funky Chimes' is a two-hour collection of excellent and unique grooves. It contains 27 of the most interesting yet long forgotten Belgian dance tracks from the seventies, when a generation of extremely gifted and versatile musicians experimented with funk, jazz, latin and other grooves.
'Funky Chimes' is in many ways the logical follow up to 2014's highly acclaimed compilation 'Funky Chicken'. Uncovering a blind spot in Belgium's musical heritage and unearthing a diverse collection of hidden treasures. 'Funky Chicken' has induced a renewed interest in Belgium's rare grooves from the seventies, which until then had never been regarded a genre worth mentioning. Having said that, this second instalment is much more than just a fast sequel or a batch of leftovers. The music's quality matches that of its predecessor, but the treasure hunt was even more adventurous, and the stories behind some of the nuggets even more gripping.

He studied classical bass and upon high school graduation Frank entered Temple University and studied electrical engineering and musical arranging.

After he was discharged from the service in 1947 he formed the Virtuoso Trio who later became the Virtues. In 1958, the Virtues recorded "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" which became a major hit in the U.S., reaching No. 3 on the Billboard chart and No. 1 in sales of sheet music. The song sold more than two million copies worldwide. Frank Virtue disbanded the group in 1962 when he went full time into the recording studio business.

Frank Virtue built his first studio, Virtue Recording Lab, in the basement of his house at 8500 Fayette Street. "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" was recorded there. The revenue from "Guitar Boogie Shuffle" helped finance the Virtue Recording Studio in late 1962 at 1618 North Broad Street. During the 1960s many hit records were recorded at Virtue, e.g. "The Horse" by Cliff Nobles & Co. and "Boogaloo Down Broadway" by Fantastic Johnny C. to name just two. Virtue Studios had a package deal where a group could pay a flat fee of $300-$500, record two songs, and have them pressed as a 45 on their own label, or on the Virtue house label. This package deal resulted in some of the most unusual sounding, low-fidelity soul and garage 45s that are highly sought after today.

Travelling through Europe, she met Robert P., an Anglo-Swedish guitarist living in Germany at the time and formed a travelling duo, which ended up returning to Robert's hometown London. After many years getting sick and tired of the city's distractions, they looked for a more creative environment beside the sea and fell in love with Northern Brittany, where they formed the band Gemma & the Travellers with friends and musicians from down the road.

Contrary to the "Motown" or "manufactured" model where the singer is rarely the songwriter, Gemma M. writes all of her songs with the help of Robert P. on the guitar. Her influences are Aretha Franklin and Julie Driscoll - genuine vibrations where life is your own creation! Recorded live at Lemoncake Studios in northern Brittany, producer Robert P. strived for an authentic and original Soul sound with a certain crunchiness and analogue distortion, like that of an old vinyl from the Sixties without falling under the overused retro banner.

The title track of Gemma & The Travellers' debut album "Too Many Rules & Games" is a song about a woman who has had enough of a world run by the men looking only for their own personal glory and fame. Love is the answer to the problems of this world! "Where I lived before" is another highlight: "I am looking back at the years of my upbringing living in the south of Italy, a juxtapose of poverty, injustice and hardship with all the beauty of the land and warmth of the people, it was hard to be a teenager there as my mum would not let me go out, which amplified the rebel in me," Gemma explains.

In 2015, the band played their live debut at London Jazz Cafe, opening for the Craig Charles' "Funk & Soul Show", who then described the band's sound as a "tasty little nugget of Soul".

Delights label is proud to present its new 7'' release - debut single by the Brighton-based trio MNP. The trio consists of Simon Hill (a.k.a. Beta Hector, bass) and his long-time band-mates: Toby Sendall (Baby Charles, Derriere, guitar) and Robin Mallon (Derriere, drums). Together they create a special kind of cinematic groove music, largely inspired by library and film composers of the 1960's and 70's.

Growing up in Jamaica, young Rowland Abrahams loved dancing to James Brown so much that he earnt himself the nickname 'Papas' Got'. Easily one of our biggest single releases of 2016 at First Word was 'Still Standing' - the debut single by Children Of Zeus, aka Konny Kon and Tyler Daley. The wax of this sold out instantly and was bumped by DJs far and wide, from Pete Rock to Toddla T to Chase & Status. The Lenzman rub was named "Best Remix" at the 2016 Drum & Bass Arena Awards.

Since then, the Manchester duo have been turning heads across the land. Tyler recently appeared on Goldie's latest album, whilst Konny has also been working with Dub Phizix. They've appeared in The Guardian, Time Out, BBC Radio 1, Boiler Room and The Source, they hold down a monthly show on NTS, and have done live shows with the likes of Soul II Soul, Mos Def, De La Soul and Slum Village.

The Manchester music scene has been on fire of late, and Children of Zeus exemplify this. Following on from the influence of heritage artists like Loose Ends, Omar and The Sindecut, this is British black music at its best and brightest.

JOB's musical journey started as students at the famed Booker T Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. United by a shared love of soul music and sweet harmonies, singers James Davis, Ollie Carbin, and singer-songwriter & musician Billy Bruner began to jam together and eventually formed their own band, J.O.B, upon graduation in 1977, setting to work building a reputation by playing local parties, venues and fashion shows. Very quickly the word of mouth on J.O.B became so strong that they were offered a house band gig at North Tulsa's most popular after hours spot, The Point After. Ever elusive duo Flight Facilities dropped a bombshell on unsuspecting, devoted fans, announcing the wholly unanticipated - and yet incredibly welcomed - debut album, 'Down to Earth". The production pair, best known for their string of popular club singles have done the unexpected, announcing a cracking new set of tunes to compliment their already impressive back catalogue, along with a headline world tour that will see the guys conquer their biggest headline shows to date, via the likes of The Enmore (Syd), The Forum (Melb), Webster Hall (NYC) and The Regent in LA.
