Red Red Wine is a compilation album compiled by the Jamaican producer Brother Dan, better known by his stage name Dandy. The album consists of some of his most popular productions like Tony Tribe's "Red Red Wine" and Israelites "Games People Play". The reggae version of the Neil Diamond title song became a hit in the UK in the summer of 69. With his own showcase label DownTown Dandy entered the music world, including his popular release 'Reggae In Your Jeggae'.

The album is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on solid orange colored vinyl.

In a long line of rock and roll outsiders hailing from Ohio, Screamin' Jay Hawkins may very well be the first. Born and raised in Cleveland, Hawkins' 1956 single 'I Put A Spell On You' is one of the most instantly recognizable songs in the history of R 'n' B and rock. Baptize Me in Wine compiles that classic track along with 18 other specimens of pure, unhinged, guttural R 'n' B madness into what is sure to be considered the definitive Hawkins' collection on the vinyl market. Most tracks were originally released as singles on the Okeh label except for the last four, which are outtakes from the first album. Before Devo, before Pere Ubu, before Guided By Voices, there was Screamin' Jay. There really must be something in the water out there.

Travelling Without Moving (1996) intentionally offers more of what Jamiroquai does best: highly addictive funky grooves with a social consciousness that is matched by front man Jay Kay's charisma. The third effort of Jamiroquai was carried by an inventive video for "Virtual Insanity", the album's flagship song.

Pressed on two heavy weight champions packed in a gatefold sleeve, Travelling Without Moving is finally available on vinyl again, this time with remastered audio for maximum aural pleasure!

Leroy Tucker- known simply as L.T. on the scene-and his band the Soulful Dynamics super rare funk 45. The band was a rotating combination of McClyde Sheely, Melissa Riley, Melvin Ausbie, Eric Williams, Collier Carruthers, Lee Berry, Virgil French, Walter Atchinson, and Charles Wakefield. Despite infectious horns and L.T.'s impassioned delivery, neither "Crazy About You Baby" nor "Everybody Needs Somebody" made a dent locally or otherwise. Like all of the Solo platters, the Soulful Dynamics record was manufactured at Monarch in Los Angelas. Dick Smart fondly recalls picking up the record at the Wichita Greyhound station with an excited L.T. in tow.

Further explorations in electro soul badness from purveyor of fine funk, Gary Gritness! On this limited 12' hand stamped disc, Gritness presents four cover versions of some choice club standards, lovingly replayed and rearranged in his own inimitable style.

Artist and musician Alex Puddu, whom many already know for his "Danish Pornography" series and solo records, has written and produced the second album for his soulful band The Moonfires. A second coming that showcases strong R&B classic melodies, Afro vibes and tight funky grooves that take the listener up to a level of great bands like New Birth, Ohio Players, Mandrill, and Black Heat. This is Alex Puddu at his groovest!!!

Wolf was a giant in more ways than one. At 6ft 3inches tall and weighing nearly 300 lbs in his prime, he was an imposing figure. But he was also a titan in terms of the blues, possessing a voice that sounded as if he gargled each morning on a glass filled with barbed wire. "Smokestack Lightnin'" is probably the most covered and "How Many More Years" was the first and most successful of four songs Wolf placed on the Billboard national R&B charts in the 1950s.

Pressed On Deadrose' Coloured Vinyl! A lot has changed for Blackbear, the Los Angeles based singer and songwriter, since Deadroses was first issued on CD in 2016. At that time he'd already worked with artist such as Justin Bieber, G-Eazy, Pharrell Williams, Mike Posner, Childish Gambino and more. Since that time his scope as a solo artist has grown to monumental proportions. When Deadroses was first issued he was already one of the largest independent artists on Soundcloud and had Youtube videos that regularly hit millions of views. He's since moved on to a major deal with Alamo/Interscope who reissued his Digital Druglord full length and the all new Cybersex. And the hits just keep coming, about 62 million at present on Youtube for his video do re mi' featuring Gucci Mane. We now take you back to the first full-length from Blackbear with Deadroses' making its vinyl debut, appropriately pressed on deadrose' colored vinyl.

What can be said about Chuck Berry that hasn't been said before The greatest rock'n'roll poet has been celebrated tons of times, in books, records, essays, his music has influenced several artists' generations, his guitar style mimicked thousands of times... rock'n'roll cannot be conceived without Chuck Berry, being him the artist that probably better represents the genre's holy trinity: musician, singer and composer, all in one and at the same level of proficiency.
Far away from pretending to compile the greatest hits of Chuck Berry, the box that you are holding in your hands tries to give you a new perspective of what Chuck Berry's music meant during his beginnings at Chess Records. In the 6 EPs included in this collection you will find alternative takes of some of his greatest hits together with some of his less known songs, some of which were part of his LPs and some others that have remained unpublished in vinyl until today. To finish off we have included the two songs that integrated The Ecuadors' single, the vocal band that accompanied Berry in several of his hits and for whom Chuck contributed as guitarist for their only single for Argo, Chess subsidiary.

- If only for his stewardship of the Who, Kinks and Creation, American Shel Talmy is revered as the producer responsible for distilling the cathartic, kinetic sound of mod rock to disc. Yet within his mid-60s production catalogue lie many other fabulous examples of a genre that wields considerable influence to this day, while remaining very much a way of life for those already converted.

- "Planet Mod" assembles two dozen examples of Talmy's work in the field, all drawn from a fresh excavation of his rarely tapped, thoroughly ear-opening tape vault. Many, such as the Thoughts, Wild Uncertainty and Tribe were recorded for his short-lived Planet label, while the Trackers and Pros & Cons and others were independent productions Talmy farmed out to major labels.

- The playlist balances black US acts John Lee Hooker, Ray Gates and Screaming Jay Hawkins with the homegrown club R&B of the Soul Brothers, Groundhogs and mod heroes the Untamed. There's rare early compositions from Bowie (Kenny Miller's 'Take My Tip') and Bill Wyman (the Preachers' 'Goodbye Girl'), while the beans are spilled on mysterious outfits the Total and the Corduroys.

Daytoner are a 7 piece funk & soul remix band based in Cornwall, UK fronted by Lucy Richards and led by 'vintage breaks' producer, Moss Daytoner. They have been touring UK festivals since 2016 playing stages including Bestival, Boardmasters, Boomtown, Wilderness, NASS along with special events such as the opening of the Blue Whale exhibit at The Natural History Museum and supporting Craig Charles at his Funk & Soul Club nights.

Daytoner's debut single release as a band features 2 live favourites: the new northern soul stomp of 'Needed You' and the remake of a 60s jazz dance classic 'Sicka' delivered by the southern soul powerhouse that is Lucy Richards, backed with a unique 6 piece band. Multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Adam Gibbons (aka Lack of Afro) is back in some style with 'Back To The Day', a beautifully produced summer sizzler crammed full of infectious hooks, top musicianship and most importantly, vibe by the bucketload! Taking a nod from classic material by artists such as The Jackson 5, Earth Wind & Fire (and more recently Vulfpeck), 'Back To The Day' is Lack of Afro doing what he does best and then some - blending the old and new with big drums and heavy percussion to come up with a crossover classic that's entirely his own, whilst all the while developing his abilities as a songwriter.

Providing a dynamite vocal once again is regular collaborator Elliott Cole. Not just the voice of the track, he also plays guitars and bass, whilst ably backed up by some stellar musicians including George Cooper (Haggis Horns) on keys, Rory Simmons (Blur, Jamie Cullum) on trumpet, string and horn arrangements and Harry Harding (Yola Carter) holding down the backbeat on drums.

Keeping the dancefloor packed and turning the party vibes right up to 11, 'Take It Up A Notch' (featuring the brilliant Wax & Herbal T and taken from the critically acclaimed 'Back In Business EP') completes what is arguably one of the strongest single packages of the year!

Lack of Afro continues to go from strength to strength. 2016's 'Hello Baby' (released on his own label LOA Records) picked up a BBC 6 Music 'Album Of The Year' nomination & appeared in the Top 10 of the iTunes R&B / Soul chart in 21 countries worldwide. It is Melodies International's greatest pleasure to bring forth its latest reissue comprising two stripped-back, reflective pieces of US folk soul.

Largely forgotten for the past forty-odd years, Bobby Wright (now Abu Talib)'s "Blood Of An American" and "Everyone Should Have His Day" resurface as politically-infused works that shine bright and still hold meaning to this day.

The 60s and 70s constituted an exceptional era for its unique blend of popular culture and political radicalism. Household names such as Sly Stone, Marvin Gaye and Gil Scott-Heron used art to express their discontent with the current state of affairs, namely the US government's involvement in warfare and their inability to deal with critical social issues of the time. Though not a musician, Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay Jr) was advocating a similar anti-government stance in the boxing ring, and his objection to serving in the Vietnam War sealed his status as an icon for the wider counterculture generation.

Meanwhile in Queens, New York City, Abu used to work several jobs as a construction worker and cab driver - but still found time to play with his band in clubs for $100 a night to support his family. Against the backdrop of international conflict and violence, most of his surroundings failed to listen to how he felt. However, he considered music to be the greatest form of communication with the world and it was his belief that a positive message should be spread to future generations.

After one band member was killed in Vietnam and another went into the service, Abu resolved to pick up his guitar and record these songs as a duet in 1974 with his bassist - the only other remaining band member. Combining guitar, bass and a voice that quavers with emotion he self-released the record in 1974, one which holds its own alongside the all-time greats.

These songs of introspection remind us of the beauty there is in simplicity and how moving art can be when the feelings expressed come from the heart. MEL009 will be released in its original 7" format alongside a 16-page Melozine, featuring words from Abu Talib, social studies professor Paul Rekret and much more.

Musically, Ventriloquism has the hallmarks of all of Ndegeocello's work, lush and investigative, subversive and sublime. As always, she pays tribute to her diverse influences and in these eleven covers, we hear them layered over one another. Ndegeocello filters "Tender Love" through a folky, Californian filter and brings Vaudevillian accents to "Sensitivity". She recreates Smooth Operator in five, and turns "Private Dancer" into a sultry waltz. The reimagining affords not just a new musical experience but also a comment on the narrow expectations of sounds and structures for black artists and black music.

This album was recorded in Los Angeles with the familiar family of partners and players that Meshell has worked with for years. Chris Bruce plays guitar, Abraham Rounds is on drums, Jebin Bruni co-produced the album and plays keys. S. Husky Huskolds engineered while Pete Min mixed and mastered. Lasting and collaborative relationships with her fellow musicians is among the most important parts of music making for Meshell, prompting her to say on more than one occasion: "Meshell Ndegeocello is a band".

A final note to the listener, Meshell chose art for the album package that hints at what's inside: A graphic V, a hidden M, the artwork is symbolic, sexy, and calls on the language of protest of the era these songs were mined from. With no words or pictures, the artwork is itself a declaration that even when you cannot imagine what to say, if you come together to create, you can find transformation and reinvention, the old can become new, today can become tomorrow.

Arkansas native, Lee Moore moved to Memphis in 1975 with only one goal in mind: to make it big in the music industry and to release music that would be played in New York, L.A and everywhere in between.

As a singer and songwriter Lee Moore spent the 1980s collaborating in Memphis with the best of the best session musicians and vocalists from labels like Volt and Stax Records to record and release futuristic boogie, soul, and funk. Lee Moore unfortunately never got close to reach his goals of fame and fortune.

For the first time, Past Due Records is reissuing Lee's incredible 'Free & Easy' LP which was only released as a handful of test pressings in 1981 because Lee thought the record was too good to release on his Score Records label. It is a pure Memphis modern soul / boogie funk masterpiece that features countless artists from the Stax crew, Al Green's vocalists and even Herbie Hancock's keyboard player.
The 1981 test pressing has commanded huge sums of money on the used vinyl market and is one for the real Soul connoisseur.

Willie Hutch wrote huge soul hits in the 60s and 70s (co-writing I'll Be There' for The Jackson 5) and released sixteen Motown, Whitfield and independent label solo releases between 1969 and 2002. From his period with Norman Whifield's label through Warner Brother in 1978/79 he is best known for Easy Does it'. Arranged by Gene Page, it was previously issued only on 7' as a B-side to Come On And Dance With Me', original copies now exchanging hands for large sums.

Like so many great singers in history, East Orange, New Jersey native Dionne Warwick got her start in the church, and for the family gospel group, The Drinkard Singers. In the late 50s/early 60s she met Burt Bacharach at a recording session where she was singing backing vocals and the rest, as they say, is history. Warwick collaborated with the songwriting and production team of Bacharach and Hal David for dozens of massive hits, and this, her 3rd album, features some of the biggest and bets hits of her illustrious career, including Walk On By', "You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart)", and "Reach Out for Me". Truly brilliant pop/R&B of the highest order. Featuring 7 bonus tracks!

The debut LP from one of the most dynamic duos in the history of recorded music, The Soul Of Ike & Tina Turner was originally released on Sue in 1961. Featuring their classic singles, "A Fool in Love", and "I Idolize You", this is one of the best R&B records of the early 60s. After joining his group as a backup singer in 1957, it soon became clear that Tina Turner's (then Ann Bullock, or Little Ann) talent and charisma were better suited for the spotlight, and by 1960 the group had changed names to the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. An essential record for any fans of Tina Turner or early 60s R&B, truly a barnburner!

Norwegian duo Smerz had a prolific 2017, which saw the Copenhagen-based Henriette and Catharina play the likes of Club 2 Club, MoMA PS1, sell out 'Half life' parties of their own, as well as release five new tracks along with five self-directed videos. Clearly not ones to wait around, Smerz go in to the new year with their 'Have fun' EP on the horizon for release via XL Recordings in March 2018.

With their unique electronic sound blending deconstructed club music, minimalist R&B and experimental pop and techno, Smerz are also prolific DJs who's DJing style takes a similar route. Mixing live vocals over their own music and interlaced with choice cuts aimed squarely at the dancefloor, this duo DJ hard in a live setting and are thrilling to watch as well as listen.

Smerz currently host their own monthly NTS Radio residency, mixing cutting-edge dance music and darker tones, in what is turning in to their trademark style.

Originally hailing from the small village of Cumberland, cozy has small town roots that have heavily influenced her art. With her music, cozy hopes to bring people into her world of experiences and give them as clear a picture of her perspective as she can. Throughout her songs, cozy weaves strong lyrical themes of femininity, sexuality, and reclamation of personal identity within a vulnerable context of self examination.

Try love was originally recorded by Norma Jenkins and pitched to Motown who passed on the track (this version only survives on acetate). Master of the girl group Herb Bernstein picked up the track and recorded the version you hear on this 45 which for whatever reason failed to make a dent until it was picked up first by the Belgian Popcorn scene and later the Northern scene, demand far outstripped supply and this rare 45 became very expensive. A haunting, odd and beautiful record to this day the members of The Sparkles remain a mystery.

Collecting some of their earliest BBC sessions this necessary document showcases the Fab Four immediately following the release of their debut album Please Please Me and right before they would become international superstars.
