Vor zehn Jahren erschien das soulig-stimmungsvolle Weihnachtsalbum von Mary J. Blige, das mit Klassikern wie “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”, “Winter Wonderland” und “Silent Night” inzwischen ein echter Christmas-Klassiker geworden ist. Zum 10 jährigen Jubiläum erscheint es jetzt erstmals auch auf Vinyl mit zwei bisher unveröffentlichten Bonustracks (”O Holy Night” & ”Do You Hear What I Hear? (Solo Version)”.

Die neu erscheinende CD enthält ebenfalls beide Bonustracks. Produziert wurde ”A Mary Christmas” von Mastermind David Foster, der in den letzten Jahrzehnten bereits Stars wie Celine Dion, Whitney Houson, Michael Bublé und viele andere mit einem unnachahmlichen Albumsound versorgte und enthält neben Mary J. Bliges wundervoller Stimme Kollaborationen mit Stars wie Barbra Streisand, Chris Botti, The Clark Sisters, Jesse J and Marc Anthony.

The Two Sides Of Mary Wells is the seventh studio album by soul singer Mary Wells, released in 1966. Wells' career had drastically changed from just six years before when the then-teenage Wells first recorded songs for Motown. This album mixed traditional pop with more earthier and uptown soul songs. Wells released a modest hit with the Motown-esque "Dear Lover", which hit the top ten of the R&B charts.

It also includes some great interpretations by Wells of classic tracks as: "Satisfaction", "In The Midnight Hour", "My World Is Empty Without You" and "The Boy From Ipanema" a.o.

The Two Sides Of Mary Wells is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on translucent yellow coloured vinyl.

Split 7" from Los Angeles-based artists Mat/Matix feat. Zyah Belle and BOYDUDE. "Freakin’ (With You)", is a radio-friendly summer jam that introduces Northern California-based singer Zyah Belle and delivers an anthemic chilled-groove RnB jam to make any situation soft and wet. Maverick Sabre announces his much-anticipated fourth LP Don’t Forget To Look Up, out 28th January 2022 via FAMM. Alexander produzierte Album enthält von Cooke und Alexander geschrieben Songs sowie ”Why I Call Her Mine”, eine Eigenkomposition von Mel Carter, die 1963 als Single veröffentlicht
wurde. Mel Carter wurde von Cash Box als einer der 10 besten männlichen Newcomer-Sänger des Jahres 1963 bezeichnet und trat mit ”When A Boy Falls In Love” in zahlreichen Fernsehsendungen auf, darunter Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Der Titelsong ”When a Boy Falls in Love” hielt sich 10 Wochen in den Pop-Charts. MICHELLE’s first project of buoyant R&B tracks was an ode to New York City, the city where all 6 members of the band grew up. But amid the success of that project, 2018’s HEATWAVE, and 2022’s AFTER DINNER WE TALK DREAMS, they left home and broadened their perspective. The band travelled across the U.S. and Europe opening for Gus Dapperton, Arlo Parks, and Mitski, headlining their own shows, and playing festivals.

While writing their new album, Songs About You Specifically, MICHELLE decided to rent out a house in Ojai, California. Surrounded by lizards, the smell of ripe cactus fruit, and endless expanses of sand, they experienced a sense of solitude and closeness they hadn’t before. It shifted the tone of their work. While their earlier music channelled the churning restlessness of the city, these news songs meander and expand into starry shoegaze reveries, slick funk riffs, and lilting 80s synth pop.

Their newfound closeness also helped them write more vulnerable music. On Songs About You Specifically, the band members express their complicated desires, voice their regrets, and own up to their moments of selfishness. By slowing down, cutting out any distractions, and fostering a sense of communal closeness that necessitated honesty, MICHELLE ended up with a collection of songs that feel like the truth.

Michael Nesmith is best known as a member of the successful American pop and rock band The Monkees. After their break-up he started performing with the seminal country rock group the First National Band, and later as a solo artist. His second album Loose Salute is still country dominated, but also offers some of his funky R&B and up-tempo songs. The First National Band, which includes John London on bass, John Ware on drums and O.J. “Red” Rhodes on pedal steel guitar, sounds great all over the record. Loose Salute shows Nesmith’s transition from hitmaker to studio born perfectionist. The album also includes a new fast and energetic version of Monkees’ “Listen to the Band.” It’s definitely one of Michael’s greatest albums.

Hailing from Essex, the six-member band officially formed in 2015. What originally started off as a few studio sessions between producer Tom and vocalist Alex Osiris, soon turned into a full-blown musical project. The established band line up was finalised after the additions of producer and musicians Tom Donovan, Cameron Morrell and Jonny Poole for what was meant to be a one-off festival performance which subsequently turned into a full-time project due to the undeniable chemistry shared on and off stage. The addition of in-house production and live instruments allowed the band to develop their alternative style of hip-hop that is truly unique and undeniably authentic.

Reissued for the very first time on vinyl, here’s the third album by the cultish Jamaican band. Backed by such reggae luminaries as Sly & Robbie, Errol ‘Flabba’ Holt, Tommy McCook, Ansel Collins, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and others, this is a true gem meant to last! The group was formed by Maurice Wellington and his Trenchtown's childhood friend Eric Lamont, joined around 1975 by Lousi Davis and by Errol 'flabba' Holt. The group split up in 1980.

The “nighters” at Wigan Casino initially ran from 2am-8am every Saturday night/Sunday morning. From midnight onwards, crowds would gather outside and spill over onto the road blocking the local traffic. As attendances grew the crowds became a problem, particularly to the local constabulary, and on the eve of the Casino’s 1st Anniversary – with a genuine threat of closure looming – a momentous decision was made. Gerry Marshall, the Casino’s owner, somewhat reluctantly decided to open the club’s adjoining cabaret lounge, known as “Mr M’s” (named after the man himself).

That night Northern Soul history was made. It was the start of an era, the birth of the “club within a club” and, as it proved to be, a temple to fans of Northern Soul “oldies”. Eventually at 3am the black double doors – which separated Mr M’s from the upstairs balcony of the main ballroom – burst open, and a sea of soulies hit the dancefloor for the very first time to the banging sound of “Hey Sah-Lo-Ney” by Mickey Lee Lane, spun by DJ Alan Cain and featured here in all of its remastered glory (side 1, trk 1).

Such was the incredible response to that first night in Mr M’s in 1974 that a petition did the rounds gaining over a thousand signatures demanding that it should continue every week! What had intended to be an emergency one-off event had unintentionally ended up being the longest, most popular “temporary” oldies venue EVER!

M’s, as it was more affectionately known, soon became the No.1 oldies venue in the 70s. It was unashamedly “100%” oldies and “100mph” dance tunes!!! It was like an engine room churning out vinyl memories week in, week out and the atmosphere and sounds are captured here!
