R&S welcomes Brock Van Wey AKA East Of Oceans (also known as ambient legend dvdub for his stunning 2018 album 'Drowning in Daylight' on Apollo) "East of Oceans is a pure tribute to my rave history that brought everything into being; pure elation, pure drive, pure escape, and frankly, just hearing shit that was the fucking jam."

Van Wey debuts on R&S with his stunning new EP as East Of Oceans 'Neverlasting Love'. As always, Van Wey's music connects deeply into his past - his East of Oceans monicker draws on his time as a stalwart DJ and promoter of the halcyon 90s San Francisco rave scene, and features a much more direct aesthetic than the gauzy remembrances of his work as bvdub. "My music as bvdub is about pausing to remember what it means - East of Oceans is about moving to forget it all."

Before Brock began DJing, made his first ambient mixtape, or began down the road of ambient, deep electronics, and deep house to follow; "I began my rave life, as many did, in breaks and hardcore, the faster the better. The harder the better. But always the deeper the better.”

Packed with explosive breakbeats combined with haunting vocals and sepia tinged soundscapes, ‘Neverlasting Love’ is another stunning release that see Van Wey working at the peak of his powers.

The electronic music duo Groove Armada released their fourth album Lovebox in 2002. The album includes some of their best tracks, ramping through genres from rock 'n' roll to the psychedelica and ska. It also features collaborations with artists like Neneh Cherry and Richie Havens, who ads some soulful voices to the whole. Opener Purple Haze' introduces us to a giant guitar riff and highlight Madder' takes the groove out of The Clash's Magnificent Seven', before moving on to the raps by M.A.D. They're incorporating a lot of samples in the fine structured melodies of soul/funk/rock and hip-hop.

After playing at club nights for years Andy Cato and Tom Findlay joined forces and created their debut album 'Northern Star' and breakthrough hit 'At The River'. It was the start of a collaboration that brought them hits like My Friend' and Superstylin''.

In May 2013, Mr Key and Greenwood Sharps met in a remote cottage in the North of Scotland to begin work on a collaborative project. The end result 'Yesterday's Futures' maps a journey through a very human process, coming to terms with the past, and searching for meaning in the present.
Yesterday's Futures is definitely a rap record, and yet, somehow it resonates beyond the often narrow confines of that genre. In the place of the usual self aggrandising braggadocio is a personal exploration of universal themes, loss, addiction, depression, childhood, and eventually, love and hope.
The combination of Key's honest and deeply personal lyrics with Greenwood's thickly textured and continuously evolving organic instrumentals paints an evocative picture of a world saturated in feeling, positive and negative. Key & Greenwood invite their audience to join them on a journey through a landscape of visceral emotion and beautiful noise, coloured with the bittersweet nostalgic palate of futures lost.

Mr Key is 1/5 of legendary hip hop crew Contact Play, alongside Jam Baxter, Dirty Dike, Ed Scissortongue and Ronnie Bosh. Elusive and enigmatic, rumours about his location and occupation abound. Libertarian mountain schools and off grid communes are often mentioned, but Key himself is unwilling to shed light on where he is or what he is doing.
Greenwood Sharps emerged as new and unique voice on the beat scene in 2011 with the release of his critically acclaimed debut ep 'Things Familiar'. After hearing the ep, Jamie XX contacted him personally, and name checked him as a producer he was loving in an interview with Clash. Since then however, Greenwood has been conspicuously absent. For the love of his beautiful music, we hope that we don't have to wait another 4 years for his next release.

The very first 12' on the label, this EP marked for Duck N' Cover Records the transformation from a hobbyists joint to a serious institution. Just after having previously release three 7' singles by local artists, this release was opening the doors to the following records by Traxman and DJ Clent. This EP is certainly not short on classics, every song on this EP has its very special own space and meaning. Most notably the frenetic sampling of 'Goin Crazy' stands out, but 'Overdose on Marijuana' and 'Invasion' have shook so many dancefloors since the initial release, and the naughty 'Get Down & Bang' will still sound fresh in 30 years.

EQ Why is one of the resident DJ's at Chicago's Battlegroundz weekly meetings, where the city's hottest crews and dancers meet to find out who is currently the best in town. Part of the second generation of producers, he is one of the disciples and heavily inspired and influenced of the scenes originators and OG's such as RP Boo, Traxman, and DJ Clent, Alongside his mates DJ Roc and DJ Diamond, he represents the hard edge battle music movement. His music and production style is functional and hard to the bone, but shows an excellent craftsmanship and sense for drama.

Ferocious, grimey breakbeat and techno — dubwise but cut-throat, new-school but clued-up. Check those vintage Nubian Mindz rolls to start; and One Step for deadly, Mabrak-style drum-talk. 180g as per.

wieder viel Beachtung, jedoch wenden sich die 4
Jungrapper, deren WM Song - Weltmeister' übrigens sogar
die Top 100 Single Charts erreichte, diesmal auch vielen
anderen Themen hin. Auch die musikalischen Einflüsse
auf dieser Platte reichen von Atzenmusik zu Deichkind,
von Crunk zu Dubstep, von Partypop bis hin zu Rock.
Klingt wahnsinnig... Ist es auch!
